Dreamweaver Form and Form2Excel woes
I'm a brand-new user on this forum. I'm trying to get a form
together using Dreamweaver and I need help with two problems. The
form is at www.faithfarmteams.com.
1. When I test the form, and I purposefully ignore a required
field, I get a popup asking me to fill in that field but then it
automatically redirects to the "thanks" page, instead of taking me
back to the form to fix the error. How do I fix this problem?
2. I downloaded Form2Excel to collate form results into a csv
file. I've installed it following their instructions carefully, but
when I test the form and then go to where the csv file should be,
the only csv files there contain only a couple of fields, neither
of which is on my form and which only contain gibberish. How do I
fix this problem? (I have e-mailed the Form2Excel tech support, but
I'm trying to fix this more quickly if possible.)

1. Most validation of this type is initially handling using
javascript
attached to the form . I can not see this on the page which I
assume means
that you are doing it server side. In which case you need to
look at the
code there.
2. It sounds like your csv is not working at all and what you
are seeing is
data in the original file that comes with the tool. There
could be a number
of reasons why there is nothing there but the PHP experts
would probably
need to see some code to work it out.

Hello everybody. I am a web designer (NOT a developer)
I created a form and I'm not sure how to make the 'submit' button send me the collected information.
I have used phpform.org/ to custom build a submission form. Then I opened that html in dreamweaver (so that I could edit colors, fonts, and delete the phpform.org advetisement)
Now I need to link the 'submit button' so that it will e-mail me the completed form.
(formphp.org wants me to subscribe to a servie that I pay for in order to have the form e-mailed to myself.)
(after I get the submit button linked to an e-mail I will pull the html of my completed form into Muse- but I don't think that is really relevent)
I'm sure one of you can help point me in the right direction! I can't write my own code so detailed help is appreciated!

</html>I'm afraid not. It's not rocket science but you need to do some coding.
You'll need to find a script (php) and save it to your local site folder. Then reference the script in your form's action attribute like so.
<form action="path/form-to-email-script.php" >
The input fields in your HTML form need to exactly match the script variables.
I'm assuming you're hosted on a Linux server which uses PHP code. Linux servers are also case sensitive, so upper case names are not the same as lower case names. It's usually best to use all lower case names in your form and script to avoid confusion.

I am trying to import one of my non-BC sites into BC, using Dreamweaver CC, and then use it as one of my free WebBasics sites.
When I try to create a new BC site in Dreamweaver CC, it creates a BC template site, and I have unsuccessfully tried to update the files on BC - it won't let me connect.
If I import the site from my portal, I don't get the option of a free site - when I try to upgrade, I get the credit card form asking for payment.
I feel like I'm running around in circles with one foot nailed to the floor.

I choose the smallest size, 3x4 but I'd prefer to go higher as this DVD was originally a VHS home movie. I'm wondering if after three conversions (VHS,->DVD->MPEG) the resolution will be so poor as to not support a larger size frame? If it can, what size should I select when I export?

To get some help, you'll need to give a bit more information.
Does the "back end" send an email, save information to a
database or both
and then redirect to another page or not?
What isn't working?
Are you getting an error message?
What server side language are you using?
What script are you using for the form action, whatever it
is.
Can you post a link to the page?

I have roughly 20 acrobat forms that I want to be accessible on the internet for about 5 specific people to access via the internet. The goal would be for them to click on the acrobat form, fill it out and then "return" it to me as an email attachment. The forms are not complex or long, typically 5 questions to respond to.
So, I signed up for the free buzz option, uploaded a pdf form and saved it in a shared workspace. I see the file (test.pdf) in the all files section. The downward-pointing triangular arrow next to the file gives me the option of open vs download vs share among other choices. I really just want to open, but when I try that it says"this file is a pdf form. Please download the file and use adobe reader to fill out the form and submit your responses". I then click download it then asks for a location (this will be a problem-source of confusion). I save it to a location but that location already has that file and wants to overwrite it-another problem. I quickly see that this is the wrong solution for me.
So, can this be done with acrobat.com or should I be using something like dreamweaver and a personal web site? Thanks in advance.Hello there,

What you would like to do is most easily achieved using Acrobat desktop software; this is a well-defined workflow, using Acrobat.com to distribute forms and collect responses, and deliver these responses to the Acrobat Tracker, where you can then analyze them and sort the data. If you're on a Windows machine, I recommend downloading a free 30-day trial of Acrobat Pro software, which you can get here:

(Unfortunately, there is no trial available for Mac at this time.)
Beyond that, there really isn't a more streamlined way to collect form responses with Acrobat.com; the Acrobat workflow works very well, however, and I encourage you to give it a shot. Here's a video that illustrates how it works:

I am trying to create a php form and I can get it to spit out the information from the form but I cannot seem to get it to send the result as an email.

What you're ignoring is the underlying technology that not
only makes it
work, but makes it work safely. WordPress does all of this
for you
straight out of the box. To build it successfully in
Dreamweaver
requires a knowledge of PHP, MySQL, and SQL.

Dreamweaver Form redirect not working
Well, I feel really stupid having to be here seeing as how I
took a degree in web design, but I obviously never paid attention
in the class where we learned forms oh so many years ago.
I am working in Dreamweaver 8, and I have created a simple
form:

This is a free website I am doing for some friends, so
nothing fancy. And, I learned web design before all the CGI and PHP
stuff got big, so I prefer to do things simply.
The form works fine, emails the results like perfect, but it
refuses to redirect the page to the confirmation. I thought I could
add an onClick to the submit button, but this cancels out the form
processing.
Any ideas? I don't know enough about JavaScript to write my
own script, but I am assuming the onClick would work if there was
also a time delay written into the script that gave the form enough
time to submit before redirecting to the confirmation page.
Also - (I know, eight million questions) when I submit the
form, it uses my Outlook to send it, but what about for people who
only use server based emails like gmail and hotmail and such? How
does it send for them?
Let me know if you need any other information.

Multi-select options in Dreamweaver form?
Hi folks,
I am creating a booking form that is hosted on a secure site for credit card transmission. This is the form customers complete https://supersecure.co.nz/users/9ba5/215/form_walks_retail.html and they are directed from this page: http://www.qtnz.co.nz/2013
A typical booking would be 2 adults and perhaps 1 or 2 children and they'd likely choose only one of the activity options.
Previously I've used pick lists for customers to choose the number of places they are booking but my clients' product list has grown and it's very tedious having to create individual fields and labels for each possible activity that can be booked.
I am stuck with this particular method of collating credit card data, so an e-commerce site is not really an option.
As folks here are far more experienced than I in DW forms I'd be grateful if anyone could suggest an easier way of taking bookings through a Dreamweaver form.

Dependent Drop-Down Menu in Dreamweaver CS3 and ADDT
Hi All,
I have been trying to create a dependent drop--down menu so that when I select an item the corresponding information would populate the other field or fields. So far I have tried to use the tutorial posted on the link below by Waleed Barakat but I have had no sucess.

I followed the instructions to the link you sent me and it did not produce the results I had hope for.
The directions are pretty straight forward and I attempted the steps several times with the same results.
Basically the field that supposed to be the detail field is blank rather than having the ID of the master field.
Any further suggestions would be much appreciated.

Dreamweaver jumpmenus and iPhones
About 4 years ago I created a website for a client using Dreamweaver 8 and it included some jumpmenus. The client contacted me asking why the links appear to be "dead" when viewed in an iPhone. I've researched this and haven't found an answer.
Can anyone tell me what the fix would be here?

There is probably a simple solution to my problem but I can't
seem to get the answer
I have created a simple form:

and it won't work. I keep getting this message: "No variables
sent to form! Unable to process request." I am using dreamweaver to
create this on OS X. Someone else set up the website and I am just
adding the form to the site for them. The web site is hosted
through godaddy.com and has been set up for windows with a .asp
file included for form use. (there i no .cgi included) I followed
the instructions on the godaddy site to create the form and then
contacted them when it wouldn't work. I mentioned that I was
working on a mac and i though that was the issue. They got back in
touch with me and said...

successfully receive emails sent through a testing form of ours
that used the gdform.asp in your hosting account. As we were not
able to do this through your form, the coding in your form must be
incorrect. Please research how to properly code forms in HTML, as a
starting point here is the appropriate page in our own help center.
So can anyone take a look at the form i've created and tell
me if I have done something wrong?
THANK YOU!Yes I did get it to work - but I had help. The main issue was
this code which had to be removed - enctype="text/plain"
(that was included in the godaddy.com instructions)
The only other thing that it was recommended I do was make
sure all the html was properly formed for instance:

New to Dreamweaver cs6 and Fluid Grid Layouts!
Could you please tell me if you can create several layout grid designs (in the same website) depending on the page layout you need for each
page?
The reason I am asking is my web site has different information on each page (which is laid out differently)
Maybe create layout.css and layout2.css and so on. AND TIE EACH PAGE IN WITH A PHP INCLUDE NAVIGATION PLACED ON EACH PAGE.

Thanks, Mrs. WhiteDifferent layouts for different pages? It's certainly possible, but I don't recommend it. Ideally you want to work with ONE FluidGrid Layout throughout your site with some additional CSS rules for optional regions (classes & styles) that may not be required on all pages. Some examples of optional regions would be contact forms, tables, definition lists, re-usable floats, etc...
If your Responsive Design is well planned, you shouldn't need more than one main structure for mobile, one for tablet and one for desktops. If you go down the path of having different structures for 3 devices AND each site page, you will soon be wrestling with a 10,000 lb. gorilla: Herculean to build and not much fun to maintain.
Server-side includes for site wide headers, footers & navigation are a very good idea whether your site is Responsive or not. I use them all the time.
