Driver installation issue...

Hello.
I'm trying to deploy Windows 7x64 on a ThinkPad W520 and I encountered some problems with video card driver. The video card installed on the system is Nvidia Quadro 1000M.
So, I imported all the drivers for this model into SCCM 2007, I created a package for those drivers and updated DP's and I added the package into Windows 7x64 task sequence. After deploying this task sequence to the w520, all the drivers that I have added
to sccm were installed, except the video card which uses a generic microsoft driver.
I found in setupact.log the following lines:
2011-10-21 11:58:05, Info                  SYSPRP SPPNP: {Retrieving drivers used by device PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0DFA&SUBSYS_21D117AA&REV_A1\4&F1563AD&0&0008}
2011-10-21 11:58:05, Info                  SYSPRP SPPNP: No device setup class has been specified for device PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0DFA&SUBSYS_21D117AA&REV_A1\4&F1563AD&0&0008. We will not attempt
to retrieve the device's class filter drivers.
2011-10-21 11:58:05, Info                  SYSPRP SPPNP: No function driver specified for device PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0DFA&SUBSYS_21D117AA&REV_A1\4&F1563AD&0&0008.
2011-10-21 11:58:05, Info                  SYSPRP SPPNP: No device upper filter drivers are specified for device PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0DFA&SUBSYS_21D117AA&REV_A1\4&F1563AD&0&0008
2011-10-21 11:58:05, Info                  SYSPRP SPPNP: No device lower filter drivers are specified for device PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0DFA&SUBSYS_21D117AA&REV_A1\4&F1563AD&0&0008
The drivers were properly imported into sccm, I've tested the installation of drivers using "Update Driver" feature in Device Manager and works fine.
How can I get SCCM to properly install video drivers during windows setup like it does for all other hardware devices?

Hi Quan xu,
Thanks for you answer. I already tried that and didn't work.
I think the driver is not working because when sccm copies the drivers to DP, it only copies the files that are in the same folder as inf file, but nvidia inf file has references to the setup.exe and other executable files that are not in the same folder
as inf file. I noticed that if I update the driver using windows wizard and point directly to DP folder it will not install the driver (windows encountered problems....), but when trying that and pointing to the driver source folder (where all the files and
folders of nvidia installer are located) the driver is installed correctly, and also it will install nvidia control panel and other applications inside Program Files.
The workaround that I found is to create a package and silent install original nvidia setup. But if you not add 1 in the "Succes Codes" bar (near 0 and 3010) it will fail, I think this is because Nvidia Setup successfull exit code is 1.
It works now, I will see if there will be problems because of the nvidia software installed on the machines...
Hi,
What switches did you use to install the nvidia drivers. I am trying to install the quadro drivers using SCCM but the driver install fails within the OSD task sequence. I think you might need to be logged on as a user for the installation to work. The installs
are for our HP desktop machines not Lenovo. However, we use Lenovo W520, X220 and T420 also .
For your Lenovo models, have you tried using Lenovo's ThinInstaller utility combined with Lenovo Updater Retriever (LUR) 4.2? LUR 4.2 allows you to download all the drivers for each model and then export them into SCCM. I haven't tried that function personally
as we use the thininstaller utility to download and install the drivers from a local DFS share.

  • Stream 14 Driver installation Issues on Windows 7

I am wierdly struggling with something I have done countless times before with other laptops - remove Windows 8 and install Windows 7 I've so far disabled Secure Boot, Enabled legacy support, removed all  hard drive partitions and installed Windows 7 which has gone on without issue, the problem is the driver installation. I (as always) download the drivers from: -a) The PC manufacturer if present (not in this case)b) Direct from the hardware vendor I do not use driver download software (trust issues) The first problem driver is the AMD chipset driver, I have downloaded the Catalyst driver many times and yet each install does not actually install any usable drivers (v14.12) which lists the chipset as supported OK, I'll download the broadcom driver for the inbuilt wifi, this was confirmed by the VEN and PID numbers however despite downloading the correct broadcom driver it did not install the wifi device. I thought OK, i'll add a wifi dongle and use that to triple check I have the right chipset driver by using their auto detect feature. However the same problem has occured, I checked the VED and PID number against realteks drivers to find the right one but it will not install this either.  This has, at the moment, left me with a HP Stream 14 with Windows 7 and no drivers and no internet connection to use driver dectection. Note: drivers downloaded and copied onto Stream 14 using my PC.  Any Thoughts?

Hey, tsumbled upon your thread googling for the same thing. Changed OS from Windows 8.1 to 7. Managed to install USB3 driver, by installing AMD Chipsets drivers from AMD's site, the latest ones should work.  Chipset driver also installs support for HDMI Audio, SM Bus, SATA, PSP. I also had problem installing graphics driver (Radeon R3), the latest Catalyst drivers (15.7) weren't working (the .inf file didn't contain needed DEV_9854). But fortunately the Latest Windows Beta driver (15.6) from AMD did work. Broadcom BCM43142 Wifi driver, I downloaded from HP - http://h20566.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/detail?idx=2&swEnvOID=&action=driverDocument&itemLocale=&swLang=&swItemId=ob_133353_1&mode=4 For the rest, Windows 8.1 drivers worked.

  • ATI driver installation issue with Windows Vista on Boot Camp (new iMac)

    I've just purchased a new 20" iMac with Core 2 Duo 2.4GHz.
Then I installed Windows Vista Ultimate on a Boot Camp partition.
Vista installation was eventless and worked nicely.
    Now the problem has begun...
I downloaded the latest ATI graphic card driver (Catalyst 7.7 for Vista 32) from the ATI website. The Catalyst software did not recognize the graphic card and installed nothing. I still have generic Microsoft standard VGA video adapter, which keeps me from playing any recent 3D games...
Someone please help me on this so that I can start playing Oblivion...

    Hi and welcome to Discussions,
I still have to find a verification for this, but:
Aplle has up to now always used the Mobility versions of the ATI and NVIDIA graphics chips in the iMacs and MacBooks, MacBooks Pro.
I assume that the in the new imacs, they are also using the Mobility version of the Radeon 2400/2600.
The ATI drivers you can download from the ATI/AMD website are only suitable for the Desktop Radeons, NOT for the Mobility Radeons.
ATI/AMD does not provide drivers for the Mobility Radeons, but are refering to the Manufacturer of the Computer for Drivers, which is Apple.
Sorry to say, but it seems you have to wait for a new BootCamp version which you include Driver support of the new iMacs.
    Sorry

  • Hard drive installation issue.

I'm replacing the internal hard drive on my 24" duo core Intel iMac (EMC 2134). The new drive is a 1TB Seagate Barracuda 720.12 and everything appeared to be going well, old drive out new drive in, everything back together and healthy bong on start-up.
Problem is that the DVD drive refuses to work when the new drive is in place so I can't format the new drive. Installation DVD goes in OK but after that nothing and it won't eject either.
So I take everything apart again, re-connect the old drive and hey presto the DVD drive is working again, DVD ejects - hooray. Re-connect the new drive and once again the DVD drive won't play ball.
Am I mising something? Is there a workaround or is there something wrong here?
    Appreciate any ideas.

Seagate has been a problem for many, don't know if it has jumpr settings, but I'd oipt for one of these...

At least a jumper on pins 5&6 will slow it to 3 Gb/s.

  • WoW wired headset driver installation issue.

Just bought the WoW wired headset yesterday after several installs, uninstalls and googling for a solution, here I am.
I'm using Windows 7 32bit, headset plugged into one of the back usb ports, they light up but the driver doesn't seem to install correctly. Just keeps saying "device driver software was not successfully installed" as well as a "device driver software is up to date." dialog box.
In device manager its listed under sound, video and game conrollers with the yellew exclamation mark beside it and right-clicking and going into properties it says:
"Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)"
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Also having problem with WoW wired headset, except on Mac.
Tried installing, uninstalling, re-installing, updating firmware, changing installation directory, different USB ports, manual copying of files, running in 32 and 64 bit modes, etc. I consistently get an error during installation saying that ">System>Library>Extensions>THXTruStudioPCUSBAudio Plugin.kext was installed incorrectly" during installation when the headset is plugged in prior to or after installation. Nothing works, execpt for the basic functionality of the mic and earphones, as well as the lens color changer. Voice FX, THX Enhancements, EQ (reasons I purchased this headset over others), and any other functionality other than the afforementioned working features do absolutely nothing.
I don't mind a little wait, but it seems as though Creative hasn't really responded to the people who have purchased possibly more than they should have for this headset. I am considering returning this headset for a far cheaper set. It might not have all the creature features of this set, but at least they work the way they are supposed to.
Creative, if you actually care about your customers, you should leave notes, comments, stickies, whatever to describe the status of projects and what you have and have not identified. I've noticed plenty of comments on here that describe problems with this headset, and the most that you have asked is for system profiles, and then silence. Not good business practices.
I remember when the Sound Blaster line of cards was king... Then around when the Audigy line came out, it all went down hill. What happened Creative?
If you need information, if you have questions, please respond. I will be more than happy to work with you to solve this problem.

  • HP LaserjetPro M277dw printer and windows vista driver installation issues

I ust got the hot off the press HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M277 which seems to be a miraculous machine.  Just one problem.  When trying to download and install the printer driver it goes through the whole process and then tells you the driver will not work with this operating system.
Hmmm.  It says on the HP website that this is the correct software for this machine.  I have been through at least 10 HP support people up to Level 3 support and hours of online work with HP people trying to install the software.  The word I get back is that it will not work with my machine.  So I am wondering if I have a Windows Vista 64 bit machine, and the software says it is for that machine, but it wont load, what machine will it work with?  The last person I worked with just told me I will need to get a new computer.  I thought I just bought a printer that would work with my computer, and now I am told i have to buy a new one?
Any ideas on how to get the software to load?  I have some functionality, such as wireless network printing that one technician was able to get to work, but no scanning.  Another technician changed all the permissions for installing various programming segments to "everyone" but that didnt work either.  He had it so messed up that the it would not print anymore wirelessly either.  I had to restore to an earlier date after that guy got off my computer so i could at least get some functionality back.
So, without the driver, I cannot scan to this computer, and i really dont know what other good things i am missing out on because I have never experienced the correct configuration......please help if you can.  I need to send the machine back within a certain time period, and I really do think it is the solution for my business, if I could get it to work......Thanks!
PS Direct connection to computer and downloading software that way does't work either.....cannot use the printer directly connected.....

    Hi,
Is it the following one ? If not, please download then try again:

  • HP Envy TouchSmart 17 second drive installation issues

I decided to install a second hard drive beside the supplied 1TB. There is more than adequate information in
this site on the required caddy system, connector, and disassembly requirements. The second drive I installed
was a 630 GB model that I had previously used in an HP D7V 17" laptop with Vista (circa early 2008). The added
drive still included the formatting and files, but no OS, from its prior use.
The system would then not boot up; complaining that no operating system was available on the hard drive.
Apparently it was trying to boot from the second drive.
My question is: Must the added, previously used drive be blank with no previous OS formatting in order to be processed by
the supplied stock drive (running 8.1)? Any enlightenment will be greatly appreciated.

The HP Envy is the SUV of laptops
While the HP Envy TouchSmart 17 is big and heavy, it outperforms most ultrabooks
The build doesn’t feel very durable, as HP used plastic rather than metal on the body
For a big laptop, it has a respectable battery life of over 6 hours while web browsing
If there’s one thing you need to understand about laptops, it’s this: Portability will cost you. Want proof? Look no further than the HP Envy TouchSmart 17 (MSRP $999.99), a fully loaded desktop replacement that costs less than an entry level MacBook Air.
This big guy comes with a smattering of excellent specs, including a quad-core Intel i7 processor, 8GB of RAM, 1TB of hard drive space, a CD/DVD drive, a full-HD touchscreen, and even a fingerprint scanner. For $999, this is a lot. In fact, for the same price, you can get HP’s Spectre 13 ultrabook, which has a weaker processor, half the RAM, and a fraction of the storage space, but does have portability.

  • OSB Express Driver Installation Issue

When I am installing OSB Express on a Windows 2000 Server, I receive the following error:
    SetDiOpenDeviceInfo();
    Error code e0000201
Then a window pops up stating that "Cannot Install Oracle Secure Backup Driver". When I originally installed this on the same machine, the driver installed properly. I have uninstalled and reinstalled numerous times, but still receive an error message. The tape drive is a Quantum DLT4000 drive, and is listed on the supported drive list from Oracle. Any assistance is appreciated. Thanks.

I performed the method as you suggested by uninstalling OSB Express, then rebooting, then disabling the tape device drive and then rebooting, and then reinstalled OSB Express. The same errors came back as a result.

    Hi
Where did you download the display driver?
Normally if you download the drivers on the Toshiba website they are working properly because they are pretested from Toshiba.
I assume you have downloaded a driver for another model or chipset so check the Toshiba page:

  • Driver (de) installation issue / services.

    Hello all,
I'm currently facing a severe problem with my soundcard and hope that this forum can help me to solve this issue...
My PC is a Dell XPS 600 system (dated March 2006), Intel 2C 3.00 GHz, 2 GB RAM, 2x250 GB Raid 0, nVidia GeForce 6800, Windows XP SP2 installed. I have several peripherals via USB connected to the system, two external HDDs, a Wacom graphics tablet, a DVB-T (TV) stick, a Logitech webcam. The soundcard is a Creative Soundblaster X-Fi Xtreme Music (PCI).
A couple of days ago, I have exchanged the 2x GB RAM with two new 2GB modules to a total of 4GB RAM. After the first reboot, the BIOS detected the change correctly, and everything worked fine initially. (Despite the fact that Windows showed only 2GB in Control Panel > System, but a MS diagnostics program reported 4096 MB nevertheless. In the boot.ini file, I added the /3GB switch which is recommended to set for working with Adobe Photoshop CS3, which I do predominantly.)
I also did a memory HW check with a little tool with a 00% positi've result.
After some reboots and hours/days later, a strange phenomenon occured.
Firstly I noted that the loudspeaker icon in the taskbar tray has disappeared. I checked in Device Manager, and the sound device was marked with the well-known yellow exclamation mark. Before changing anything, I did a reboot, and everything was fine again, even after some subsequent reboots. Then, only one time, the system seemed to have forgotten its display settings (changed to 640x480 instead of 600x200) which I corrected manually - everything fine again.
Then, reboots later, again no sound and the exclamation mark in the Device Manager. I wondered if I should check for the latest driver version, got one from the Dell support site (since the SB X-Fi seems to be a special Dell version), and tried to install it - and here is where the pain began.
I extracted all files from the driver .exe and started the setup program, which at one point froze. Manually closed it, checked Device Manager - still the exclamation mark. From within the Device Manager, tried to install the drivers, same result: Device Manager stopped frozen. I then tried the various steps: deactivated the audio device, deinstalled drivers, reinstalled drivers (different releases), rebooted, all steps again in all combinations - to no avail.
I changed the RAM back to the original state, the same deinstall/reinstall game as above, same result: Audio device appears in Device Manager as deactivated (red cross), I'm activating it, the 'add new hardware' routine recognizes the soundcard, asks for drivers, I point to the directory with the files in question, and at some point the process stops, Device Manager frozen.
When I manually close and start it again, the red cross has disappeared, but now the yellow exclamation mark is there. After a reboot, the sound device is shown as deactivated again (red cross).
With Sysinternals' Process Explorer, I started to monitor the installation procedure. What I found out is that at some point regsvr32.exe is started a couple of times, some names of driver files (as a sub process of regsvr32.exe) appear and disappear again quickly, then everything comes to a hold, AND: services.exe starts to run constantly at a CPU usage of 50 per cent (as the final status). This state of system does not change for hours. I've been checking the threads of services.exe in Process Explorer, but the only thing I can see is some kernel thread (with some addresses given) which is consuming the CPU's computing power, and I can kill the thread w/out any problem to reduce the CPU usage, though it doesn't help to get me any further, ie. the system does not finish with the driver installation.
    What else did I try:
    - disconnected and deinstalled the Logitech Webcam, because I remembered to have read that this device/its drivers are sometimes causing troubles
    - deinstalling any other audio drivers (codecs etc.) in Device Manager
    - used some registry clean-up tools as well as the Driver Cleaner (www.drivercleaner.net)
    - did some virus scans and checked the system with hijackthis additionally
    - disabled my virus scanner during installation trials (Kaspersky 6.0)
    - started in safe mode and played the deinstall/install game in Device Manager a couple of times - always the services.exe issue
    - tried to restore some old system check points to no avail ('no changes have been made to the system')
What I did not so far is:
    - to plug out the soundcard and try another PCI slot (I cannot imagine that the hardware is suddenly defecti've)
    - manually clean all single driver files from the system
    - up to now I'm trying to avoid a reformat/reinstall of the OS which is the 'ultima ratio' from my point of view. (Would I have any guarantee that the system will work afterwards?)
Somehow I believe that it's a Windows OS issue, especially in respect to services.exe.
Do you have any clues or advice how to proceed?
Thank you very much for reading and your support in advance.
    Cheers, Max

It is generally a good idea to uninstall the apps first before uninstalling the driver for the hardware so, in this case you should go for the Console Launcher and then the Creative Driver.
You might also need some utility software like driversweeper and ccleaner to clear up any left overs and the registry itself.
