Driver issue FIXED in Vista / boot camp with new, unibody macbook pro!!

Hay people, I found a fix for the freezing issues with Vista running in Boot camp with the new, unibody Macbook pros. The driver for the 9600M Gt is no good if you install it from the Apple 2.1 version driver disc (Mac osx disc)for some (most) of us.
I needed to go to Nvidia's site and download the one from DECEMBER 08. If you click the "download drivers" tab on the site, scroll past the current driver it wants you to look at (go to the near bottom of page), click the archives, and input your OS version. Also input "Gforce" and "M" series when needed. It will give you a choice of two drivers. DO NOT CHOOSE THE FEB 09 Driver. Thats the BAD driver for most of us. Choose the DECEMBER 08 driver. Download and enjoy. Be sure to roll back the VGA driver (or the current driver) first before you install this. It should work.
I've been through the ringer with this for weeks now and have even tried to take my MBP back to swap for a new one. Apple wont have any of that so I thought I was SOL. Not quite. This DOES work for me with Vista. It also works for Windows & if you have it handy.
By the way, I am posting this for people who HAVE HAD THE FREEZING problems, not for people who haven't. Apparently there are some out there who are running Vista just fine on their unibody MBS's. Most of us are not.
Cheer's-----Seattle, where the evil empire looms dark

This never worked. I sold that machine and got a new 17" unibody. IT, by the way, works just fine. I KNEW it was that **** 15'. It took 30 more seconds to boot up I found out also.

  • Exchanging macbook air 13 with new haswell macbook pro.

I recently bought a haswell series 13" macbook air exactly 1 week before the introduction of the new haswell macbook pros.  After considering the spec and price difference I realized I'd rather have the pro. I looked on the returns tab on the website.  It said I can return my product within 14 days. Is it possible for me to exchange my air for the pro without having to go through returning my macbook air and buying the pro?  I realized the price difference wasn't all that differernt and I wouldn't mind the extra power. I currently have the 13" macbook air i5 with 8gb. I plan on getting the 8gb for the 13" retina display macbook pro as well.

I still have 1 day to return it.  Currently my best option is to return my air for a full refund and then apply that towards the pro.  However there is a delay on the returned funds.
The credit card I bought the MBA on only has enough credit for one of the macbooks at a time.  However  I need to purchase it on that credit card because it offers me product insurance.
So as of now I have to wait 3-5 days for the credit return and then order the pro which will take an additional week. I'm just trying to find a way to reduce the time between retuning my air to getting the pro. lol.
    Thank you!

  • Boot Camp 4.0 on MacBook Pro With USB

I'm trying to install Windows 7 onto a Macbook Pro  (2011) with Boot Camp 4.0 (i.e. not the one that lets you make a usb installer for computers without an optical drive). I have a NTFS formatted install USB made with Microsoft's ISO tools. Boot Camp won't recognize it as an install disk and when I try to boot from it, it doesn't show up in the boot menu. Is there any way I can install from the USB drive?

  • Windows 7 boot camp install on 2012 MacBook Pro with retina display

I'm having trouble installing Windows 7 in a boot camp partition on my MBP. When I select the boot camp partition and then format it, the partition is not recognized in the next step. Does any know a way around this? Thanks.

You should ask in the Boot camp forum where the Boot Camp gurus hang out. https://discussions.apple.com/community/windows_software/boot_camp

  • Best Boot Camp version for my MacBook Pro?

    Hi guys!
So, I've got a 17" MacBook Pro from 2007. It's listed as "macbookpro2,1" in System Profiler, if that helps. I've got the Windows 7 Release Candidate installed on a Boot Camp partition running BC version 2.0. I guess I'm a bit confused - what is the "correct" version of the Boot Camp drivers for this machine?
I bought Star Trek Online today, and I just want to make sure I'm getting the best performance this trusty old Mac is capable of!
    Thanks,
    Huxley

    Hi Huxley,
Windows 7 BootCamp Driver support requires both the Snow Leopard install DVD, which contains the 3.0 version of the Drivers, and the 3.1 driver update which can be download from Apples download site.
The version number of the BootCamp Assistant in OSX is either 3.0 when you use OSX Snow Leopard or 2.0 if you use OSX Leopard.

To my knowledge the Windows 7 Release Candidate is only valid for use till the end of March, so it might be time to buy the full version.

  • Boot camp, windows xp and macbook pro-install problem

    MacBook Pro 1,1
    Mac OS X 10.6.8
    Boot Camp Windows XP
I installed a SSD and want to put Windows XP back on the computer.
I had Windows XP running under Boot Camp on my old HDD.
During the Windows XP install when it tells you to
press ENTER to install Windows XP
press R to repair a Windows install
    press F3 to exit
I can't get the install to accept any input from the keyboard.
I tried searching the discussions but I'm not finding the answer.
I'm sure it is just something simple I'm not doing. I had Windows XP
running on this MacBook Pro before.
    Thanks

I wonder if your XP works with SSD or some SSDs have had trouble with Windows on Macs...
I'd search out PC forums + brand SSD for starters users with XP.
Everyone I run across though have moved on to Windows 7 64-bit.

  • Boot camp windows 7 on Macbook pro

    Hi all,
I already asked a question on the mac os hread and they pointed me in this direction, so for reference please see the link below:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=11637049#11637049
I am looking to install windows 7 32 bit on my 2010 13" macbook pro 2.4 GHz. The only thing is that i do not have the original snow leopard DVD which came with my macbook. So before i go through the trouble of installing bootcamp, how would get a hold of the drivers? Any advise would help.
    Thanks

    Hi and welcome to Discussions,
the OSX Snow Leopard DVD is the only legal source for the BootCamp Windows Drivers.
Plus that disc is essential for troubleshooting your Mac in case it needs to.
So, hopefully you kept the packaging of the MacBook and can look through that to find your SL disc.
In case you can't you can contact Apple and ask for a replacement disc.
Have the serial number of your MacBook at hand and usually Apple will send you a disc for a small fee.

  • L220x flickering with new 2008 MacBook Pro

    hi there,
today i was pretty happy when i received my l220x. but after i started working with it i saw horrible flickering on the screen. how does this appear. the flickering started and held on for a while then stopped a few seconds later it started again.  on the delivered cd is no driver for mac so my question is do i need a driver for my macbook pro (latestmodel). if no how do i get this flickering away?
    thx. c.

I use the screen with my older 2008 macbook pro and there is no flickering whatsoever. Your MBP shouldn't need any special driver, so I think you're dealing with a display defect. Do you have bootcamp with windows installed? If you do, I would boot into windows and give it a try to see if that helps. If it doesn't, just call Lenovo and I'm sure they'll take care of it.
Let us know how it goes and good luck!

Open the Displays pane of System Preferences and select a higher resolution. If it won't let you pick one beyond 1280 by 800, you need to use a dual-link DVI adaptor.

  • NE people out there /w NO ISSUES /w new unibody macbook pros??

    Hey guys,
I have a new macbook pro waiting for me at home and I am worried now because of all the problems I've been hearing about. Blank screens, problems /w the 9600 card while gaming and otherwise, etc
I was wondering if this is just for a minority of people who got a defective crate of macbook pros. Or if this is a problem affecting everyone? Are there any individuals out there playing crysis and cod4 on their macbook pros /w no problems and have none of the other problems mentioned? Thanks

I've had it a month(?) or thereabouts. (And my Beloved's had her new MacBook for just a tad longer.)
Moving everything from previous G4 PowerPC PowerBooks to the new MacBook and MacBook Pro, via Migration Assistant - in her case via Ethernet and in mine via FireWire - was simplicity itself, and everything ..even old Carbon programs.. works flawlessly on the new Books.
My MBP has given not even a hint of trouble: the screen works perfectly at all brightness - or dimness - settings. It runs just about silently. The trackpad, and tapping instead of clicking, is wonderful.
It doesn't overheat, or seize, or go wrong in any manner whatsoever ..but then nor have any of my previous Apple laptops, starting at the FireWire 'Pismo'.
You'll generally read only negative things in Discussions, because this is where people with problems come to ..just like you'll find mainly sick people in hospitals.
But for most of the MacBook Pro population, they won't bother to come here, because their Macs are working just perfectly! ..Like mine!

  • Anyone having problems installing Boot Camp with New Mac Pro 2.8?

I just get blank screen after it restarts with XP disk. I'm using a vga - dvi adapter with a apple 17" display..
I've phoned apple and read up on here but nobody seems to know. I just wondered whether my 2008 Mac Pro was faulty...
    Please can you help?
    cheers

Are you getting a white screen after the Mac reboots? If so, try disconnecting all non-essential USB/FW devices.
I had the exact same problem and I went through a long, stressful process of elimination to get it working, even to the extent of using my MacBook as an external drive through target disk mode!
It turned out to be my iMage USB camera. Even after successfully installing Windows I have to disconnect it before using Bootcamp.
    I Hope this helps.

  • Boot Camp supported by the MacBook (Late 2008)?

I've skimmed the Boot Camp discussion forum and couldn't get a clear answer. Does Vista run well w/ the new MacBooks, I'm guessing there may be driver issues? Are the Boot Camp drivers that come w/ the laptop any more current than the 2.1 drivers that have been out. What are your experiences w/ Vista on the new MacBook so far. I would love to hear people's impressions and experiences. Thanks

I have the same problem, but my original disk from Apple was a bad Apple, and I WENT TO WORK IN BRAZIL and can't even get any help from an Apple store.
Does anyone know where to download the .exe file for the new macbook? Apple posted previous files, but I can't find for the new 13" aluminum. So I have no network, no fast graphics, nothing.

Hi. When I boot to Boot Camp with the latest Apple Windows Support drivers can't see my USB Flash Drive, DVD and OS X volumes but not my USB external drive that has an MBR partition scheme (using iPartition from GUID) and in there it has different volumes [HFS when I boot to Snow Leopard, Fat32, NTFS]. What can I do with Boot Camp to make it see my USB external drive and why isn't it seeing the USB when it can see the USB flash drive both use USB?
    Thank you in advance.
    God bless.
