Driver Security Certificate Expiration Issue on Windows Server 2008

Hi,
We want to install Oracle Database 10g Release 2 RAC (10.2.0.4.0) Enterprise for Microsoft Windows Server 2008 x64. When installing Oracle Cluster Ready Services on Windows Server 2008, the prerequisite check fails with the following message:
"Security certificates for OCFS and Orafence drivers on Windows Server 2008 have expired"
Can somebody please point a download location from Metalink from where we can download the latest drivers?

Hi Satish,
thank you for your reply. I also found this bug on metalink and did as they wrote there (change the date before 2009). It worked, pre requirments assistant is now ok, but after setting private/public interfaces section it fails with error message:
"Unable to collect and verify hardware information on all nodes" ...
This is the same error I got in 11g as well, because I already had a post yesterday about this bug in this section :(
The strange thing is that now cluster verification passes the system architecture check for (10.2.0.4), but it fails during the installation of CRS.
We are already have an SR with Metalink, but unfortunately they are not much of a help :(

  • Cisco Security Manager Client running on Windows Server 2008 R2 (64 bit) in Terminal Service

    Hello CSM Gurus,
Would there be any performance issues in CSM client software design if multiple instances of CSM client by multiple users ran concurrently on a Windows Server 2008 R2(64 bits) while CSM users accessing the server via Remote Desktop Services ?
In my environment, we have a CSM server at our major data center while security administrators from all over the world need to use this CSM server.
In order to overcome the latency of the CSM client due to the WAN network, the plan is to use a Windows Server 2008 R2(64bits) as a terminal server and all security administrators would need to access this terminal server via RDP and would launch CSM client on their desktop.  The terminal server locates on the same LAN as the CSM server itself in order to minimize network latency in communications between the CSM clients running on the terminal server and the CSM server.  there would be multiple instances of CSM clients running concurrently on the Windows Server 2008 R2, the terminal server.

  • Sybase ODBC Connection Issue in Windows Server 2008 R2

    Hi ,
We have three sybase odbc connection in Windows Server 2008 R2 server . One connection is not working now, it was working fine before 30 days.
I can ping the server address successfully from BO Server through "dsedit".
i have created the same connection in a diffrent server (Win server 2003),and it is working fine.
    Sybase ASE Driver version 3.50.00.10
Please help me to overcome this issue.
    Thanks,
    Saurabh upadhyay

    Hi Saurabh,
The error message you are reporting is telling us that you are using the very old ctlibrary ODBC Driver.
That is pretty much the only way you can get that error.
Run from a command prompt,  isql -v  that will return a version string.  We can then verify the version.
However, the old ODBC driver will function with the newer client.
The old driver would read the sql.ini for the network address, and was also a translation layer between
the client application and the ASE.
Both were eliminated when Sybase released the "Native" ODBC Driver.
The ct_connect error states that the connection attempt is using ctlibrary.
In your ODBC configuration, Check to see in the ODBC Administrator and check to make
sure that the driver you are using for your DSN is the Adaptive Server Enterprise and not the
    Sybase ASE ODBC Driver.
Also  check the Drivers tab in the ODBC Admin.  See what the actual file is listed for the driver.
    sysybnt.dll
    syodase.dll  are unsupported drivers.
It would be to your advantage to open an incident with SAP for more complete support
    Thank you,

  • Issues with Windows Server 2008

    Hi,
I am facing a issue with my PROD and DEVE systems. Initially I installed ECC6 SR3 on PROD with Windows Server 2008 and only ABAP stack as JAVA stack is not fully supported. Now I am planning to install DEVE server with Windows 2003 in which I will have both ABAP and JAVA stacks.
I just wanted to know whether there will be any sort of communication or support issues between PROD and DEVE systems with such diverse configurations.
       Awaiting replies.

    >    I just wanted to know whether there will be any sort of communication or support issues between PROD and DEVE systems with such diverse configurations.
    No.
You could even use HP-UX on the DEV system - as long as you're able to share a common directory to ensure transporting it's not a problem. Transports are OS and DB independent.
However, memory management and security in Windows 2008 changed significantly, you may have to use different configurations for W2K8 vs. W2K3.

  • BO XI 3.1 SP3 Install issue on Windows Server 2008 R2 64-bit

We are trying to install the lastest Build of Business Objects XI 3.1 SP3 on a new server with Windows Server 2008 R2 64-bit OS (51038908_part1.exe,51038908_part2.rar, 51038908_part3.rar).
The setup never finish! It seems that the setup can't validate the CMS installation and is trying again and again.
In the "Enterprise XI 3.1 SP3 - Windows - Supported Platforms" document, the Windows Server 2008 R2 Entreprise 64-bit Edition is supported.
The antivirus is desactivated and the setup.exe file was launched in the administrator mode.
    Any ideas?
Edited by: Frederic Wojnarowski on Nov 22, 2010 5:45 PM

We have run into similar issues with that same package (51038908_part1.exe) which is a complete install of "BOE-3.1 package with SP3" for Windows 2008 Server that only installs in the 64-bit mode.
We had a 32-bit Oracle 10g client installed, that BOE did not recognize for the CMS - so the install was hanging at the CMS config...(no clear errors / no simple way to roll-back the failed install).
We only discovered the underlying Oracle issue when we deployed just the CMS with a local MySQL database - and then tried to point the CMS at the Oracle DB instead. It gave us TNS errors even though we could hit the same TNS without issue using SQL-PLUS on the same machine.
This lead us to assume that the 64-bit BOE couldn't connect via the 32-bit Oracle 10g drivers.
We have had trouble installing the 64-bit Oracle 10g client that we downloaded - so are now looking for some advice.
Anyone know which specific 64-bit Oracle 10g client should be used with the cumulative "BOE-3.1 package with SP3" 64-bit package (51038908_part1.exe)...?
I assume that this Oracle client will be used for any connection to the CMS / AUDIT Oracle databases - and any RPT content running on the CR-JobServers that is using an Oracle Native connection...?
Thanks in advance for the advice.

    Hi all,
I am using crystal reports 2008 trial version for my web application. Please install the appropriate Crystal Reports redistributable (CRRedist*.msi) containing the correct version of the Crystal Reports runtime (x86, x64, or Itanium) required."
Is there any resolution available for this problem except for changing the IIS settings for 32 bit applications?

  • Windows 8.1 RDP Issues with Windows Server 2008 Standard.

I have an issue maintaining an RDP connection from 64-bit windows 8.1 (standard and pro) to 32-bit Windows Server 2008 Standard.  Initial connection is normal, and as long as I am constantly typing on the link, for the most part it stays up. However
if I do not keep typing, or go to another desktop program for a few minutes, and then go back, the following happens:
If I am typing into notepad (or some screen that does not require windows to be refreshed) I can continue to do so, so the connection has not been lost, however if I try to do something that requires more extensive exchange of information (like file
    - open, or even trying to pull up the start menu), the connection pauses with about half the screen refreshed, sometimes after about 30 seconds a bit more of the screen fills out, but otherwise the connection is not responsive. Then after about 2 minutes,
RDP reconnects, at which point I am back to "normal".  I have conducted some tests and made inquiries of others attempting to connect to the server.
    1) I can connect to other Windows (servers 2008 R2 and 2012)  with no connection issues from this PC
    2) I can connect to the 32-bit server with no issues using Windows Vista Ultimate and Windows 7 from the same location as the WIndows 8.1 PC
    3) When I do a network speed test while having these issues I see full download and upload speeds, so I am not experiencing intermittent internet issues.
    4) No-one else from other locations (not of course using Windows 8.1) has any issues using RDP to the 32-bit Windows Server Standard.
These various tests seem to eliminate my network connection, and other operating systems, from the equation, and point to RDP issues on windows 8.1 connecting to the older OS.  I noticed in the September updates, a case 2989039 which seemed to point
to similar issues when using UDP through Remote Desktop Gateway.  That update is on my machine, and my connection has the setting Automatically detect RD Access Gateway server settings.
    Any thoughts anyone?

    Hi  RonaldRenaud,
If my understanding is right, this RDP issue only occur in the connection between Windows 8.1 and Server 2008.
Please check if you have installed the update kb2984006.

  • No valid driver for officejet 6700 premium on Windows Server 2008 - 32bit

Even though there is a download file available on the support site it is not compatible with WS2K8
Does anyone know of a work-around for this ?
I can not change the OS, as was suggested by HP tech support.

    Hey typesetter773,
The driver for Windows Server 2008 W32 is available on the website as you mentioned.  I will provide a link for those looking for this driver.
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=mp-109483-2&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en...
If you are getting a message about compatibility, then it is possible you are running Windows Server 2008 R2?  These are different versions of the WS2K8 OS and the driver will not work with R2.

  • RDP audio issues with Windows Server 2008

I have a server with an M-Audio 1010LT audio card installed, running audio playback software.  This software needs to stay running and playing at all times.
We were previously running Windows Server 2003 and when we RDPed into the box for maintenance, we simply made sure that 'Leave at remote computer" was selected under Remote Desktop's sound settings.  This allowed us to control the console of the server while the audio continued to play through the server's audio card.
Now, with Windows Server 2008, even with this option selected when we remote into this server all audio stops and Windows shows no available audio devices.  If I end my RDP session and phyically go to the server, I see the audio devices and am able to re-start the audio playback.
Is this a bug, or something that has changed in 2008?  Any workarounds?
    Thanks

  • Network issues with Windows Server 2008 and MacOS

    Hello there,
I believe it is a long shot, but i am running out of options. I got a video streaming server software running on my windows server 2008. It has a client that runs on MacOS and Windows. The windows client works just fine, but the macos client cannot stream
    a few videos.
I've tried installing the streaming server on windows 7 and my mac client worked just fine, so I believe that win server 2008 got some sort of configuration that is blocking the correct communication between software.
Since the software devs could not tell me what's wrong or how to fix it, I thought I might get some help here (kinda of a last hope thing). I have tried installing codecs, enabling desktop experience and nothing worked.
So, here is my question: Is there anything that windows server has that windows 7 do not that might be causing this scenerio?
    Thanks,
    Lucas

    Hi,
Have you disabled the firewall on the windows server? The firewall may block the traffic if it isn’t configured properly.
If it still doesn’t work after disabling the firewall, please install the Network Monitor on the windows server and client. Then capture the traffic of the video when the server and windows7 runs your software.
Try to compare the traffic of windows server and windows7. Find out the difference between them.
To download Network Monitor, click the link below,

  • VMware to Hyper-V template conversion issue for Windows Server 2008 template

    Hello,
I am attempting to convert a Windows server 2k8 template from VMware to Hyper-V. The hosts are Cisco UCS B200 M3 blades running Win2k12 and ESX 5.5 respectively. The template boots successfully in VMware and runs through its post install process without
any issues. When I convert the template to Hyper-V the guest will display the windows splash screen and then I get the error "windows setup could not configure windows to run on this computers hardware”. I attempted to force the OOBE process
by running msoobe.exe from the CLI but got the same error on restart.
The particularly strange thing is that if I boot the syspreped guest in VMware, interrupt the post install process, shutdown the guest, then convert to Hyper-V the guest will boot successfully in Hyper-V. At this point I uninstall the VMware tools, install
the windows virtual guest services, and re-sysprep the guest. Sadly the result is the same, on boot I get "windows setup could not configure windows to run on this computers hardware”. I found http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2466753/en-us but
it references Win2k8R2 specifically. Does anyone have any ideas on how this issue could be manifesting itself
    in Win2k8?
As an aside I was able to successfully convert a Win2k8R2 template successfully using the same process, any input on this issue would be greatly appreciated!
    Regards,
    Toll_Hou5e

    Hi Toll_Hou5e,
As far as I know there don’t have the KB or article mention we can convert the VMware template image to VHD, you can use the MVMC for the virtual machine convert.
I don’t familiar with VMware template but base on my experience, the VMware View Connection template can execute the Windows template image sysprep program, VMware may configured
some system option, you can ask your software vendor for the further help.

  • TCP/IP Connection Issue on Windows Server 2008 SP2

    Hi All,
We got the following error with our monitor application. Monitor application tried to make a TCP/IP connection to another server, and runs out of all local ports.  We can not  close these connections without
rebooting.  This will happen if the windows server didn't reboot in 500 days. (We tested in our data center by some servers. )
Please explain why it is exact 500 days??? We are looking for a solution to fix it without reboot.
    Thank yoU!
    Bill
TCP/IP failed to establish an outgoing connection because the selected local endpoint was recently used to connect to the same remote endpoint. This error typically occurs when outgoing connections are opened and closed at a high rate, causing all available
local ports to be used and forcing TCP/IP to reuse a local port for an outgoing connection. To minimize the risk of data corruption, the TCP/IP standard requires a minimum time period to elapse between successive connections from a given local endpoint to
    a given remote endpoint.

    Hi Bill,
    Thank you for your post.
The event 4227 means that the application open up more ports but not closing them in timely fashion.
Windows 2008 default dynamic port range specify start port 49152 end port 65535. So you monitor it try to make connection via 65535 port.
To resolve this issue, please restart your application service or set
TcpTimedWaitDelay to a lower value via registry
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters
If there are more inquiries on this issue, please feel free to let us know.

  • Weird issue with Windows Server 2008 R2 Print Server

I have an issue with Windows 2008 R2 (VMWare Hosted) running Windows Print Server.
Prior to a small network change, the print server was working well, hosting about 80 different networked printers from various vendors.
We made a change (that we ended up rolling back) to the Client's DHCP Scope OPT 006 (DNS Servers). The DNS servers never quite worked right and broke AD authentication to different servers, and was just a mess.
After rolling back we are not able to keep the printers online. If we ping them from the print server, the printer(s) never wake up, when a print job is submitted. If we ping them from one of the access switches, they work fine (until they fall back asleep),
to prevent this, if we start a ping on the server AFTER waking them up from the Switch Ping, they stay online and no problems.
If we stop the ping, they fall back asleep at some point, and again, won't wake up without intervention/switch side ping.
Has anyone experienced anything like this? Any tips on how I could possibly resolve it?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
According to your description, the issue seems to be that the printers can't keep online. Sounds like a power managerment issue. Why these printers fall into sleep? Have you consulted this issue with the manufacturer of these printers? Do these printers
fall into sleep if them lose the contact with printer server? Have you tried to reset the printers?
    >>We made a change (that we ended up rolling back) to the Client's DHCP Scope OPT 006 (DNS Servers).

  • Open dns resolver issues on windows server 2008 R2

my client is running a windows 2008 r2 server with dns and dhcp roles. it's not a domain controller, just a workgoup server.
got a notification from my client's isp:
"These attacks have been facilitated through DNS
amplification attacks. AT&T has detected these attacks and has confirmed
that the IP address x.x.x.x allocated to your Internet access account is
accessible from the Internet as an open DNS resolver. "
tried disabling recursion, but then there is no access to the internet.
tried disabling the firewall rule for dns udp, and no access to the internet.
does anyone have any idea how to correct this? do i need to add a public dns server to my dhcp scope for internet access? if i do, then what good is a dns server and it doesn't resolve internet addresses?
    Gary

Just to add, I was wondering why you had port 53 opened to your DNS servers. And just to point out, that rule you created is a port translation rule that allows access to your DNS server from the internet, just as if you had created a rule to allow access
to an internal web server for public use, or for allowing webmail (OWA) access from the internet to your internal mail server.
What you did, as Keith said, will stop that, but to further point out, the rules are not really needed again, I would just remove the rules completely. For internet access, such as allowing your users to access websites, your DNS to resolve external names
(whether using Root hints or a Forwarder), just about any firewall will allow that out-of-the-box. In some firewalls, you have to create a rule to the outside untrusted interface to "allow established" meaning when an internal request goes to an outside resource,
such as a website, to allow the response back in.
The only time you want to create rules is either you want to allow inbound traffic with a port translation rule (such as what you originally unknowingly did for TCP & UDP 53) to a web server, OWA, SMTP traffic to a mail server, etc.), otherwise,
leave it out of the box.
As for what the ISP is concerned about regarding DNS amplification attacks, is that they are a fairly recent method for attackers to create a DOS (denial of service). You can read up at a couple of recent discussions about what all that means in
the following threads, with ways to stop or mitigate them.
