Driverproblem with X-Fi Surround 5.1 at Win7 64bit
Since I've windows 7 64-bit on my new laptop, I cannot install the X-Fi Surround 5. without errors:
- First try - (Old driver for XP)
All sound was warped and nearly no?hearable EAX and High CPU-Level.
- Second try - (Lastest driver from auto update)
Soundcard worked well, but when playing music or other easy things, there're often rasping sounds and short interrupts. The CPU is usually at 40% (To much for .86 GHz) and after a "half-value period" of may be 4 hours I got a bluescreen.
- Third try -
(Now) I uninstalled all Creative-Drivers and tools to use the windows-standard driver - no?rasping and CPU-level nearly 0% but from time to time it goes to 00%. Of curse there's no EAX...
Who have installed this card without such problems?
I want to try a beta-version of the driver or an older "karaoke-driver" but the setup shows something like "There's a newer version of audio driver"... I tried to uninstall all tools and drivers of creative, deleted the creative-folder in C:\Programs and the registy-keys "creative" in HKLM\Software and some other keys, detected with regspy, the setup opens, and removed the hardware in device manager, but no success :-(
Ok, I could install the old driver again to try the karaoke and the beta-driver and at last the newest one from autoupdate... But all times I got an idle cpu of 30% and this changing level when playing... I don't know, how it worked the first time but now, I use the windows-driver again...
I hope, creative will >>create<< a newer driver without this mistakes.
I can't do anything against this rasping but I think, the cpu level is constant, now, so I will go on with the windows driver.
Does anyone knows a free tool, that provides surround sound to stereo applications like the creative control center?

Creating DVDs with Rescue and Recovery 4.5 on Win7 64bit
Hi , I have a question reguarding the rescue and recovery DVD creation.
When I click the Q drive Lenovo_Recovery, the program will ask me if I want to create recovery media or reclaim disk space.
What I want to aks is, does making the DVD disks after patching the OS and re-Partition (the originally just one huge C drive which needed to repartition to smaller system drive) matter? or It doesn't matter at all?The size of the C drive is really not important during the backup of the Q drive.
Test the backup medium (dvd set, USB) BEFORE you decide to delete Q drive. ie, boot the recovery set, then exit. If you have plenty of space on your HDD, I would KEEP the q drive.

If you ever use the recovery set, and multiple partitions(c,d,e), you have considerations, ie will it wipe the whole HDD blank before starting.

If you are using DVD, disk 1 is the bootable, disk 2 and 3 are data disks. Just boot using disk 1, then exit. -

Quick one - I've recorded footage using a Sony HDR-PJ810 in 1080p24 with 5.1ch surround audio (currently experimenting with different frame rates, resolutions and audio). If I import this into a 1080p24 preset in Premiere Elements 12 then I see only stereo audio with no obvious way to add a 5.1 channel.
If I import this into a 5.1ch surround preset (like 1080i 30 5.1) then I can see the audio across 6 channels but it's obviously having to unevenly spread 24 frames across 30 spaces in order to match the frame rates (skipping some of the slots which I suspect will cause playback artifacts).
Is there any way to get a 5.1ch surround audio track within a 1080p24 project? (I don't see it as a preset). Thanks!OraAmator

Purchased an HD TV show (Nip/Tuck) and selected the alternate audio track labeled "Surround Audio" and got that digital audio "NOISE".
Regular audio sounds fine - can play iTunes music and system sounds sound good, just can't select the alternate "Surround" audio track without getting the noise.
I'm on an "older" MacMini - Intel CoreDuo using the SPDIF optical output into a Pioneer 5.1 receiver set to the appropriate Optical input and "Dolby Digital". I attempted to change the audio input processing on the receiver...all of which have the noise described by others...

My iphone 4 photo/message auto rotation was not functioning, might be accidentally locked as I can see a locked symbol with a circle with an arroe surrounding it at the top right angle , next to the power % indicator. This function was working perfectly since day 1.
Please advise how to unlock it.Swipe upwards from the bottom of the screen to open Control Center. You will then find the orientation lock in the top row, last icon on the right. White is on, black is off. Tap and turn it off. If you see the lock symbol, then orientation lock is on, and that is what is keeping it in the portrait mode.

I learned that right from 10.7 Lion available, the default kernel mode is always set to 64bit no matter installed in MacBook White or Pro. I am wondering is it same for all future MacBook Air and Pro that come with 10.7 Lion will be set to 64bit kernel by default??

Setup with MS Visual C++ Runtime Library Error, Win7/CS5
Hio All,
It's driving me crazy here trying to get my Photoshop and my Adobe Production Suite CS5 working. I had an Alienware computer with Windows 7 64-bit and it installed perfectly. Now my new computer is a Xeon E5-2660, with 32GB of RAM, an ASUS Z9-PE-D8 WS motherboard with a Radeon HD 5870 1GB VRAM video card (same video card on my Alienware). I did a fresh Win7 64bit Professional install, all goes well. I'm also installing other programs and they all go well. It's when I install CS5 (but really Photoshop is my biggest concern since I need it for freelance work) and sometimes RIGHT at the end of the third disc installation at 99% (installing the Language Pack for ENG) it crashes. Sometimes it doesn't, and goes through perfectly. Either case, when I open any Adobe CS5 suite program (except for Bridge), it would crash immediately with a dialogue box saying
"Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library" -- Runtime Error!

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information.
And that's it, the program logo doesn't even launch, just this box. After hours and hours of trying different settings, I found out was if I disabled the service "Windows Management Instrumentation" in msconfig, the dialogue box would go away and anay CS5 product would launch without a hitch. But, it leaves other programs that use that service unable to launch as well, and Windows Defender is the biggest one that uses that service.
I've searched the internet and hundreds of other threads relating to Visual C++ error here on this forum, but none give a definitive answer to why my computer may keep crashing. I've reformatted and reinstalled CS5 over and over again...still these crashes...Please help in anyway!!

Thanks much for checking it out and helping!The registration shouldn't have anything to do with saving a PDF but I tried that and it didn't work... Thanks for the reply though! This is what's frustrating me so much is that there is seemingly no difference with the software from day to day but, Adobe has simply - "derrrp" - forgotten how to write to PDF and in it's own confusion tells Windows that it needs to shut down. It's also frustrating having to resort to these forums for answers because they're not in real time like a phone call or chat. If I could just talk to someone from Adobe about it, since it is their product, I could have tried that option hours (or days, really) ago and have already gone through a number of other options by now instead of being back at square one..... again.
I mean, for christ sake, I even tried a system restore in case I had mistakenly downloaded a font, brush, etc. that corrupted some files - didn't help anything. -

Never mind, I already found the solution myself.
What I did wrong was:
- not copying the master image to the nbi folder
- selecting the netinstall-restore.dmg image as source to copy to my HD.
The thing is, when you create a netinstall image for 10.5, the image itself is already included in the netinstall image so you don't have to do anything else.
With the 10.4 image however, you also have to copy the master image to the NetBootSP0 directory.
In the *.nbi folder contains an netinstall-restore.dmg file. But that is only to boot you to netrestore, it's not the image itself.
Other alternative is to copy the images to another folder that you share with AFP and adjust the configuration of netrestore like described in this manual:

This manual was also how I figured out that I forgot to copy the image to the NetBootSP0 folder. -

Trouble with firefox.exe of Win7-64bit since last firefox update
firefox has been working fine on my laptop running win7-64bit until the last firefox update and now when i close firefox and attempt to reopen it at a later time, i get the error message that ff is still running and i have to shut it down. i go to task mgr and have to close firefox *32.exe. why am i just now having trouble with this, i wonder? thank you in advance for any and all help with this matter. it's very annoying.

currently using UCM 7.0(2) and CIPC 7.0.2 for hotline using UCCX 7.0(1) and Agent Desktop 6.6.54.
Which CUCM and UCCX Versions are needed to support Win7 64bit Client Software and which Version of CIPC can than be used?
We dont want to upgrade to latest versions yet! We only want to realise 64bit compatability for our clients. Therefore upgrading to lastest releases of UCM an UCCX would not be the correct answer.
My understaning of release documentation for this is following.
Win7 64bit supported when
UCM 7.0(2) using CIPC 7.0.4 or 8.6
UCCX 7.0(2) using CAD 7.0.2xxxx
Therfore we only have to do a maintenance update of UCCX from 7.0(1) to 7.0(2) to get new CAD Version compatible to 64bit.
Next we only have to update CIPC from 7.0.2 to 7.0.4 or 8.6 regardless of the UCM version because both newer CIPC version list CUCM 7.0 as compatible system.
I'm I right here????
Additionally is the expectable update cost free or does it bring any change in licensing?
PS: I know some other client software is not 64bit compatible in this solution like historical reporting client and so on. but this is no K.O. criteria and can be compensated otherwise.

I am using wc11gPS4 with ecm11g on win7 64bit, I configured wc with ecm, I used default content page in my groupspace, uploaded a word file, right click it, on the popup menu, select edit with word, I was prompted to enter username and passwd, I inputed the correct info, but never passed verification, is there any suggestion on this?
word version is office 2007.

I changed the value for "BasicAuthLevel" to "2" (decimal),hope this was not the reason, I did this for making webdav worked(webdav still doesn't work)
