Droid Razr & Droid Razr Maxx Accessories the same?

Can someone tell me if the accessories for the Droid Razr are the same as the Droid Razr Maxx?  I'm upgrading to the Droid Razr Maxx and wonder if the Docking station, charging cords and car charging cords will work on it.  I'm thinking they will, but want to make sure.  I believe the plugs are all the same.  My concern is mostly the Docking Station.
By the way Ice Cream 4.0 should be coming out this year, but there is no set date for the Droid Razr or Maxx yet.  So, it may not be until 3rd or 4th Quarter until it comes out.

I did some digging on this subject after you brought it to my Attention!  An this is what i found the Car Dock that was Designed for the Razr is Only for the Razr an Not Maxx you can put the razr in it as a bare phone no Case or Take the insert out an put the Razr that's in a case in it!.
As for the Razr Maxx it has to have the Dock specifically Maid for it So it Will match up with the Dock Pins!! Using the one for the Regular Razr will cause a Miss alignment..
The One Hundred Dollar $100.00 Bundle that Verizon is Selling has the Car Dock for the Regular Razr Only!!  It however though has the Home Dock that will Work for Both Razr an Razr Maxx..
This is the Correct Container Box for the Car Dock.. for the Razr Maxx

This update was promised before the end of the year! It went out through a mistake to a couple users on December 24th. So when will we get it?

I don't ever remember seeing anywhere that it was promised before Jan 1st. According to Moto's site it has always been and is still listed as:
    DROID RAZR (XT912)
ICS (Android 4.0.4) rollout began in June 2012. Will be upgraded to Jelly Bean (Android 4.1)
    DROID RAZR MAXX (XT912)
ICS (Android 4.0.4) rollout began in June 2012. Will be upgraded to Jelly Bean (Android 4.1)

Just power it off, and then activate the iPhone.  That will automatically deactivate the Droid.

  • Does the VZW Family Locator work on the Droid Razr Maxx after ICS update?

The VZW Family Locator App from "Play Store"  finds the Area-Location of my phone to about five miles, but it will not finish the "refining" action before timing out. Am I leaving something undone or is this App only partially compatible with the Droid Razr Maxx.

Benidle, I'll be happy to assist you with Family Locator on your Razr Maxx. The app is compatible, but I just want to make sure that you have the feature active on your account as well. The app in the PlayStore is free to download, but there is a $9.99 charge for Family Locator. You can add this feature on your account by logging into My Verizon.
If you have the feature and are still receiving this error, make sure your location settings are all turned on in Settings, Location Services.
Let me know if you need further assistance!

  • Droid RAZR Maxx HD Model #

So I'm confused theres ther razr hd and razr maxx hd the razr hd is model #xt926 and the razr maxx hd is suppose to be xt926m. I have the maxx hd but on the back of my phone the model just says  xt926 theres no M. Then on Motorolas website it says my software V should be 9.18.94.XT926.Verizon.en.US but my phone says 9.30.1.xt926.Verizon.en.us. It almost makes me think my phone is a standard razr hd and not a maxx after all my battery barely last 4 hours and my phone is basically stock I dont have a bunch of apps running in the background and I've shut off all the instant update stuff the push notifications GPS all that stuff. But my battery still doesn't last the 32 hours or what ever it is im lucky to get 5 hours 6 sometimes and I make maybe 2 or 3 calls a day no longer then 2 minutes each not on the internet for more then 30 minutes and send maybe 30 text a day.  Anyone have any input on any of these concerns?

Try going into the settings, scroll all the way to the bottom and tap about phone. The actually device model should be listed under "model numer".

  • Razr Maxx - still lagging

I've had a Razr Maxx for about 2.5 years, and it's been working pretty ok, all this time.   The update to 4.12 that was pushed in Nov.2013 did cause some issues for a few months, apps just didn't run as smoothy.  Certain things, like rhapsody, would randomly fail when you clicked play to play a track.  The biggest problem was lagging.  Esp with scrolling.  Task managers or the lack of, and just closing apps manually, deleting cache, even clearing ALL pictures off the phone and a cold boot, did not resolve.  I then did a factory reset, which was ok for a little while and then it started to drag, again.
Verizon replaced the phone with another Razr Maxx, and after doing my re-install everything seemed ok.  The phone wasn't getting "hot" like the previous one was, so they were convinced there was a processor problem.  As the phone would lag worst when it got up to operating temperature, or, a stream of TXT-ing or facebook messaging had just happened.  Or the battery was low.
In my experience I have found clearing out long back-and-forth text message threads help a LOT, as well as (strangely) toggling your wallpaper to a different choice.  It only improves/improved performance for a little while though.
Now with this NEW phone, and no reason why it should lag, I did however notice that as all my programs were updating, the problem seemed to return after I installed Twitter (and more specifically when it got to the SMS part), or Facebook.  Though facebook was working ok on the phone and it didn't seem to start the lag problem til I installed Twitter.  I force quit the app so the two werent forced to 'play nicely' together.   Then I put google search on the phone, so i'd have the toolbar on my homescreen and could search by clicking the microphone.  Mistake.  Now it's so laggy.  So I don't know where the problem lies.
Any advice?  My internal 16gb is relatively empty as there's no pictures and about 25 apps.  I think I have narrowed the culprit down to one of these 3 apps though. @oceddie  oceddie might have some helpful advice.

You've certainly done various tasks to try to keep your phone running smoothly, and RobinD_VZW provided you with a good recommendation.
When a phone suffers major lag, it is often because an app (or apps) is causing it.  I've uninstalled numerous preloaded apps which I didn't want, and also disabled those which I couldn't uninstall.  I currently have 38 apps disabled.  As we continue to update apps when a newer version is available, often times an app may not be thoroughly optimized for a particular OS (or may not "play as nice as" the previous version) which causes some trouble or slight incompatibility.  For example, I determined Chrome was causing the most serious issues on my Razr Maxx (frequent freezing and instability) more than any other app, so I disabled it.  I also determined Google+ was one causing some slight trouble (some minor instability but mainly battery drain), so I disabled it as well.  My phone is running much better since I've disabled these two apps.  It's a hit or miss when trying to pinpoint which app(s) may be causing problems, but well worth it once those have been identified.
Another reason why a phone may suffer major lag is due to lack of RAM.  As we install more and more apps on our phones, the available resources are also reduced.  Once you reach a point where there are so many apps installed, the last thing you should do is install more.
So, lag is primarily caused by either or both of the reasons I've mentioned.
With that said, I've thoroughly enjoyed my Razr Maxx over the past 2+ years but for me it's really time to upgrade - primarily because I prefer more RAM as well as a bigger screen and a better camera.  I pre-ordered a new phone (with 3GB RAM, 5.5 inch display, and a 2.5GHz processor) last Thursday, and I expect to receive it by the end of this week once it is officially available and released to ship by Thursday the 17th.  Enjoy your Razr Maxx...I've certainly enjoyed mine.

Overall I'm pleased. There have been some sticky moments(hah)but for the most part it's pretty smooth.

I've been checking for the ICS update periodically throughout the day.  No dice yet
Anyone else's Razr MAXX gotten the update?

  • After I unplug headphones, the speakers no longer work until rebooted.  Anyone else experience this?  Also had the same issue on the Droid Razr Maxx.

After I unplug headphones, the speakers no longer work until rebooted.  Anyone else experience this?  Also had the same issue on the Droid Razr Maxx.

Ahh. We can still help find the culprit, TeaParty14. Do you have any 3rd party applications installed to play your music? Are you able to hear any audio if you plug the headphones back into the phone instead of rebooting? Any audio for calls through the phone direct or through speakerphone?

  • Droid razr Maxx HD, Accessories

This is more of a retoricle question, just due to the fact this has been the case with motorola for years when it comes to accessories. I have yet to figure out why iphone/apple as soon as a new product comes out theres a boat load of accessories already out on the market. I know that the mfg. give out specs to the aftermarket mfgs so pre development of case's and other things can be done ahead of release of a new product, so why can't motorola or for that matter HTC, etc. do the same. For instance I had a Droid Razr Maxx when it first came out and it took at least 3 to 4 months to find a different case other than what Verizon offers. Now I have a Droid Razr Maxx HD and the same holds true. Is it that Apple has a better marketing department. I know that a iphone is designed for the cell phone impaired people, but come on the Android base system is still out selling apple, and for for a person thats been around the iphone and owned numerous Razrs and Android devise's, the Razr runs circles around any iphone. I tried even getting a Zagg invisasheild and even they don't have one yet, but all kinds of apple crap.      [ Gorrilla Glass still scatches ]. I can see why people by apple just due to fact of all the cool accessories that come out. Again I think the marketing dept. at the cell phone mfg. are asleep.

    I agree with above.
All the many manufactures out there when they develop all their accessories designs can machine and plan for one design when doing so for apple iphone, but when they have to look at the android lines to make covers, they would have to CNC (machine) and have multiple drawings and licences etc. That is why most of the accessory companies have more apple designs, because they do not change too often from design to design and everyone that uses apple (iphone) has the same specs....
I mean look at Motorola alone...the number of new design style phones they placed on the market in the last two years is enough to drive us crazy, imagine developing accessories for them...?

  • My Droid Razr Maxx froze last night. It is not worth the money.

This is my 2nd Droid since June. The first I had for 2 weeks and the battery was draining in less than 24 hours. This one I got in the 3rd week of June. I bought it because I wanted a good phone camera - I rarely use data, it is used mainly for calls and texting . I DID send a pic to Facebook last weekend, and could not log out of Facebook. This might be the cause of following freezing, don't know). The screen started going crazy occasionally after having it a month. It does the same thing other people have posted - opens apps, opens text messages and types, has made calls, etc. It has also frozen. Last night it froze on me. I tried turning it off and the screen went blank. The battery was not low, but I plugged it in anyway - it didn't show that it was charging so I unplugged it and hoped it would be ok in the morning. Sometime in the night it beeped indicating I had a text. It did it again around 6:30 a.m.. When I got up, it still had the blank screen and the message light was flashing. I couldn't get a screen. I plugged it in to charge it and after app. 15 minutes my screen came up but it was still frozen. I've had two phone calls I couldn't answer. After app. an hour the screen went blank again, and the red circling image indicating it's turning on started and has now been running for about 30 minutes. I no longer have a land line and am going to have to drive 27 miles to a store to get it fixed when I need to be preparing for the coming hurricane. I'm posting this as additional evidence that something is wrong with these phones, and they are not worth the money.

When the RAZR/ RAZR MAXX freezes, you can hold down both the Power and the Volume Down button at the same time for about 7-10 seconds, until it flashes. This is what is called a "Soft Reset". You will not lose anything because of this reset.  As far as your battery time, 24 hours between charges might be considered good. It all depends on what apps you have installed, the location and signal of the towers for coverage, etc. I take mine off the charger around 5:00 AM, and when I go to bed at 10:00 PM, I am usually between 30-60%, depending on my usage during the day.

  • Droid Razr Maxx HD out of the USA use

Ok, so I upgraded to the Droid Razr Maxx HD a month ago , which is an international phone, already unlocked.
I arrived in India 5 days ago and bought a Airtel SIM card. Airtel is on GSM and offers 2G and 3G.
Until now I was not able to make this SIM card work in my phone though. My friend takes this same card into his old "dumb" phone, and he can receive and make calls right away.
I emailed Verizon and the response time is fast, but of no use so far.
Does anybody have better experience or can help what might be the issue here?
    Thanks for any input.

Snooter, I am sorry to hear that you are having problems with your SIM card. Are you having problems with your SIM card that provides you service? Or are you having problems with your SD memory card? This is where you store some pictures.
If you reformat your SD memory card you will lose everything that is on the card.
If it is your SIM card that provides you service you can replace it and it will not lose anything.

  • Is my Droid Razr Maxx xt912 locked for use with another carrier's SIM - either in the U.S. or globally?

Is the Verizon Droid Razr Maxx XT912 locked to prevent using another carrier's SIM in the U.S.?  Is it blocked to prevent use of another carrier's SIM outside the U.S.?
    Thanks

Hi MattFlash, that is a great questions and I would be happy to help! The good news is that all of our 4G devices would be unlocked and ready for use with another carrier, so the Maxx is ready to go. If you would like to use another carriers service you may need their SIM card and would then need to follow their activation procedures. Hope this helps!

It is listed under the advanced options for the WiFi settings or About Phone > Status within the phone's settings
Motorolas list them under About Phone > Status.
Edit:  Oh, snap!  It is listed in both places.     Nevermind!  Please excuse!

  • Droid Razr Maxx Screen Cracked

Upgraded to the Maxx from the Droid X in April. Bought the Otter Box Commuter. Went to Verizon store in June due to poor reception (low bars) and frequent data (both WiFi and LTE) connection drops. Store rep told me it was a problem with the simm and swapped the card- no questions no charge. No improvement. Because I wasn’t actually dropping calls, I chalked it up to the phone model and didn’t go back to the store or CS regarding a replacement. BIG MISTAKE> Two days ago I made a call and put the Maxx (in the otterbox) in the front pocket of my loosely fitting shorts as I was standing in line at a store. I felt the phone vibrate as I got my food, put the tray on the table and retrieved the phone from my pocket before I sat down and the phone display would not light up. The phone was also unusually hot to the touch. I looked closer and found the inside screen cracked. There was no crushing, dropping, or impact of any kind. The phone was in the otterbox, screen side against my thigh, in my pocket. The screen has multiple cracks under the gorilla glass. I went to the Verizon store yesterday and the rep said he’d heard it about ‘digitizers’ cracking without impact before. He told me to read the forums because it’s a known issue, and then call CS about the defect because I have no insurance (didn’t think I needed it because I’m careful, I bought the case, and the Droid X was built like a sherman tank). I found many posts here and elsewhere about my issue. I called Verizon CS and to her credit the woman I spoke with was phenomenal. She explained that she would send a replacement phone. She then said she was worried about me being charged up to $300 if the phone showed signs of damage upon inspection. She told me that warranty replacements are not ALWAYS inspected thoroughly, but that an impending charge was a possibility. I was adamant the phone was defective as there was no evidence of impact on the outside glass itself. I referenced the forms here and that many people are complaining of the same issue. She told me that, if I was charged, to call back and refute it. She then proceeded to review my data usages and adjust my contract accordingly to save me about $20 per month. I agreed to the warranty replacement and new phone was shipped yesterday to arrive on 9/27 via USPS. I was informed that a box/label would be sent and I would have to mail my defective phone within 5 business days of receiving the box. I am still able to use the phone to make calls with my car’s Bluetooth. Now I am waiting for the box and new phone to arrive. I’ll send the defective one in and follow the CS rep’s advice to “keep my fingers crossed” with regard to whether or not the phone will be flagged as damaged. If so and I am charged, it will appear on my November bill. I’m hoping for the best, but dubiously expecting to make a frustrating phone call around Election Day. I figure, if I am charged the $300, I can subtract $200 due to the savings off my bill from the account adjustment. And, not having to deal with Motorola refusing to fix it will be worth the other $100. Having the phone repaired by Motorola isn’t an option because I don’t want to be without it for 2 weeks on top of the costs I would incur. I sat down and compared the Maxx to my old X and the difference is remarkable. The X case is metal and minus the Kevlar back, the Razr is plastic. If I do receive a replacement, I expect the new Maxx to break before my contract is up NEXT December. The Razr is lighter and thinner than my old X. But I can’t in good conscience upgrade to another Moto phone- warranty or not, I want a quality product for my money. My question is, has anyone with this or a similar issue had luck with a warranty replacement? What are my chances?

What you experienced is the reason i have T.E.C. on both of my Maxx's it's a little more Money that comes out of the Pocket at bill Paying time but having it kind of pays off in the Long Run..
