Drop down list value dependant on value in another drop down list

Hi
I am not familiar with Java Script so if anyone can advise me on this I would be grateful. I am using ADobe Livecycle V8.0.
I have two drop down lists - DDL1 and DDL2.
The choices in DDL1 are "High, Medium, Low, None"
The choices in DDL2 are "Positive, Negative, None"
If "None" is selected in DDL1 I want DDL2 to display "None".
If any of the other values are selected in DDL1, then I don't want anything autofilled in DDL2.

This should do the trick:
in the "change" event of DropDownList1, put this:
if (xfa.event.newText == "None"){
DropDownList2.selectedIndex = 3; // at pos. 3, you should have "None"
// otherwise change here at your convenience
else {
DropDownList2.selectedIndex = 0; // here first element empty/default
// maybe you prefer the last one
Note that generally dropdown boxes have the first or last element empty/default; this way, when you script the "else" part, you can easily reset DropDownList2.

Specify Pop Up list options via info given from another pop up list.

Needing to allow someon to select a category from a pop up list, then a field within that category from another pop up list. Hoping that based off the first selection, I can limit the options in the second pop up list to only those applicable so that the user doesn't select a field that belongs to another category.

Also wondering if there is a way to submit a list of cells as the options in the pop down list rather than having to enter each individual field again.

One way to achieve a result similar to what you are looking for is to use a combination of pop-up menu for the initial choice and a slider or stepper to make the second choice. The example below uses a slider. The formula would be the same for a stepper cell in column B of Main.
Column A contains a series of pop-up menu cells with for choices: -- (no choice yet made), Red, Blue and Green.
Column B contains a series of slider cells, each with the same values: Minimum: 0, Maximum: 3, Interval: 1.
Each cell in Column C contains the formula below, which uses OFFSET, MATCH and the value set by the slider to retrieve the correct value from the Lookup table.
Main::C2, and filled down: =IF(A="--","--",OFFSET(Lookup :: $A$1,B,MATCH(A,Lookup :: $1:$1,0)-1,1))
Results for various combinations of the pop-up and slider cells are shown.

The drop down list values want to vary based on the contents of another drop down field

hi in search page i have two drop down list. i have two tables and one mapping tables. service line and subservice line are tables and i have one mapping table. using rapid application i create one component using mapping table. now in search page i have two drop list. one is servline and another is sub serviceline. in service line i have values like 1,2 k for subservice 3,4.5,6 for one service line ex. for 1 i have two subservice 3,4 and for 2 i have 5,6. now my requirment in if i choose service line 1 in first drop down list, automatically in second drop down list want to contain values 3, 4. before both the drop down list have values.if i chose one value the correponding mapping value want to come in drop down list in same context node.

This requirement involves defining p-getter for the service type, and the v-getter of you sub type.
Since this involves to populate the values of subtype attribute depending on value of service type, u need a round trip.
This is done in the p-getter of the 1st attribute(service type in your case).
In the v-getter of the 2nd attribute, 1st fetch the current value of attribute 1, then filter the value in the dropdown table according to ur logic.

How to show first parameter value in drop down list as a default value dynamically in ssrs report?

Hi,
in my ssrs report i have two parameters, accounts and Manager ,there is a cascading between the accounts parameter and manager parameter, as per the cascading we will get managers names based on the account we selected in the accounts parameter,
my requirement is the first name in the mangers drop down list has to get selected as default value.
please help me with this, it is an urgent requirement.

According to your description, you want to use cascading parameters in the report, if the accounts are selected when you preview the report, the first manager name will be selected from drop down list as the default value. If so, there can be two scenarios:
• If manager is single-valued parameter, we can get Available Values and Default Values from the same query as below. Then when the accounts are selected, the first manager name will be selected as default value.
SELECT managerName FROM table_name WHERE accounts IN (@accounts)
• If manager is multi-valued parameter, we need to use different query for Available Values and Default Values. In this case, please refer to Patrick’s solution.

Infopath 2013 - Values are not appearing in a drop down field referencing site column which uses lookup in custom list

I have a master custom list that has a set of site columns. For each site column there is a lookup to a custom list with reference data. When I edit the list in data entry view all values in drop down fields work fine, but when I customize the form for
the master list, no data appears in the drop down fields. I can change the data binding on the form so it references the the correct data and when I preview the form it works. But when I publish it, no data is available in these drop down fields.

According to your description, I try to reproduce your scenario but the lookup field works fine.
When we customize the form for the list in the InfoPath 2013 , it is by design that the Drop-Down List Box control cannot display its value.
For troubleshooting your issue, please take steps as below:
Go to lookup List Box on your form in InfoPath 2013 , right click it and choose “Drop-Down List Properties” from the bottom of your field menu.
Make Sure you select “Get choices from an external data source” and correct Data source.
Make Sure the Xpath of Entries is “d:SharePointListItem_RW” under the dataFields.

Want to hide the drop down based on text field value

Hi,
I want to hide some of the values in drop down based on one text field value.
I have the field called name which has the value A, B, C, D and also one drop down list which has the values 1,2,3,4,5,6. I want to hide the some of the values in drop down based on A or B or C. Let say, If it is A, drop down value should be 1,3,5. If it is B, Drop down value should be 1,2,3,4. Like this for every record.
Can you please help me out.

I am trying it in two different way. Please suggest which is the right one and feasible.
1) I have the drop down list which has all the status. I am trying to hide the drop down values based on one text field value for all records.
2) I have collected all the drop down values into table in webdynpro method. Rightnow I have two tables.
one has line items details and another one have drop down values. both tables having common fields.
I have to show second table values for that particular key, move all of them to drop down.
Which is the best and feasible option.

Cond display of drop down based on value selected in another drop down form

Hi,
I have a requirement in my app in which I need to be able to conditionally display the values in the drop down down list based on the values selected in another drop down list...
Currently I have 2 drop downs.
First drop down is a list of Jacks from 2000 to 4999...
Second Drop down consists Chassis ranging from 1 to 900..
So when a user selects any jack between 2000 - 2999, in the second drop down only Chassis ranging from 1 to 300 should appear.
when anything between 3000 - 3999 is selected, Chassis ranging from 301 to 600 should appear..
and for jacks between 4000 - 4999, Chassis ranging from 601 to 900 should appear in the second drop down.
Can someone please provide me pointers on how to do this..

Table TZC37 field STATU search help drop down is not pulling any values?

Hi,
In table TZC37 field STATU(Contract status) search help is not pulling any values( drop down list when execute the table values) .. but the table has values for this field.
And also I checked in the configuration, this field has values in the config also. But still the search drop down is not getting any values.
Can any one knows what could be the reason and how to solve this issue?
I am using this field in transaction FNVS when searching loan number based on Status field.

Value table for this data type - STATI is TZC37.
While getting records from these tables(TZC37 or VDARL ) I am trying to use drop down values for searching data using this field SSTATI. But its not showing any drop down values. It supposed to show what ever values exists for this field right?
I checked in the cofig of this table and values exists for this field.
Any help appreciated.

WAD drop-down box and commands on Set Variable values/ Set Filter Values

I am confused in WAD and Help online couldn't clarify my concerns. Thus here following issue:
I am using a WAD, where the data provider (query) is set dynamically. I would like that
1 user selects company in drop-down-box 1
2 I use commands on drop-down-box 1 to manage the next drop-down-box 2 ( like it becomes input ready)
3 user selects plant in drop-down-box 2
4 User selects a tab strip A, where report A of multiple reports is placed. Now in this moment I assign the query A to the data provider A.
Now my questions:
- I am not clear how to use the bex-variables required for the query ( like company and plan). If I use in drop-down variables, then I can't set anymore commands
- What means and makes the command set_variable_state
- What means and makes the command set_selection_state

Here, the command gives you a range of input options to select from such as Characteristic/Text/Formula/Hierarchy Variables & Binding Type Selection. Binding Type Selection in addition gives you more options such as assigning manual input from a Text webitem [ITEM_INPUT], assigning value from another Variable [VARIABLE], or simply assigning the selected value from an underlying Data Provider such as one mapped to a DropDown webitem [DATA_PROVIDER_CHARACTERISTIC].
- What means and makes the command set_selection_state
>> SET_SELECTION_STATE is used to assign input values to Characteristics in your query. It serves as a Filter option.
I think in your case using SET_VARIABLE_STATE makes more sense. You can use Binding Type Selection with [DATA_PROVIDER_CHARACTERISTIC] on both the DropDown webitems to assign the values of Company / Plant to the query on runtime.

Creating a databound JSP pop-list (with dependent values)

I was able to create a databound JSP pop-list from the "How To Create a Databound Pop-list with Oracle JDeveloper 10g" article. Where would I have to modify the code so that I can define a WHERE clause to the DepartmentView object so that only a subset of values are displayed? My goal is to try to create pop-lists so that the values of pop-list #2 is dependent on the current value in pop-list #1.

You can create both static values and also
values based on record group .
I think you know how to create static values.
(for static just give the values in "Element List" property of list item)

Mandatory drop list w/dependent field displays error on refresh

i have a drop list(field 1) that is on a mandatory field and whose initial value is null. i have another field(field 2) which my drop list is dependent on. then i have a third field(field 3) which is dependent on the drop list field. when i try to insert a new record, i select a value for field 2, the page refreshes and i receive a "Selection Required" error message for field 1. this only happens when the group is in table layout and field 1 has a dependent field.
Here's the test case(if you take a default generation from the hr schema employees table w/dropdown lists; jobid(mandatory), managerid, and departmentid should all have dropdown lists assigned to them):
1. add managerid as a depends on item for jobid
2. add jobid as a depends on item for departmentid(or any other field)
3. run the page and click on the add row button
4. change the managerid field value
you should get "- Selection required" error. this is a big problem for us right now bc the depends on is required in our application and we can't figure out a workaround. can someone take a look at this?

The only way to fix this is by making the "depends on" items optional instead of required, and delegate the required check to the ADF BC layer.
I'll try to explain why:
- a depends on item must have the immediate attribute set to true, so validation of the item and execution of the valueChangeListener will take place in the JSF Apply Request Values Phase. In the valueChangeListener, after updating the underlying model attribute, we directly jump to the render reponse phase, to skip other validations
- If there are multiple items with immediate="true" on the page, then they will all be validated "in sequence" in apply request values phase. So, the first drop down list is validated before the valuechangelistener of the second item fires. If the end user enters data "normally" in sequence, this is usually not a problem, however, in your use case the user first enters a value for the second "depends on" item, and then you get the validation error on the first depends on item.
So, to fix this, change the table item template and remove the required property

How do I use one drop down list to refresh the list in another drop down?

I am using a drop down list full of years (i.e. 2008, 2009..etc). When I make my selection from this drop down list (say for instance I select 2009) I want it to update the available data in the second drop down list. I have the query statement set up within the JSP page but it needs to be a dynamic SQL statement based off the value I selected in the first drop down.

The variable "year" is the value I need to figure out how to assign. Now this variable is a Java variable (attribute) and Im unsure how to get the value from the previous drop down and assign it to that. Basically I need the JavaScript value from the first drop down assigned to the Java attribute "year".

Here are my two drop down lists. As you can see I build the second list dynamically based off the value of the year. I want to be able to assign my year to the value I select in this first drop down. How do I do that?? I only want to show games for the year I select. I currently have the year hardcoded to "2009" as you see below. Defaulting value of Dropdown List to the first value of a BI Query

In my VC application I have a form containing a dropdown list to be used as selection criteria for other data. The dropdown list is dynamically populated by a BI Query. When I run the application, the dropdown list is correctly populated with the values returned by the linked query. However, on initial load of the iView, the default value of the dropdown list is blank. The requirement is for the first item returned by the linked query to display as the default value.
I would appreciate any suggestions on how to achieve this requirement.

Hi Mustafa,
I checked your requirement but it is not possible to display first value as default value for a drop down list because the list will be generate when you click the drop down list. You can use a 'list box' instead of drop down list.

Can you provide more details about your requirement? It would make others easier to find a solution for you.
By default, a workflow will be triggered after submitting data in the NewForm or EditForm.
If you want to monitor the value changed in a drop down menu which is supposed to be in NewForm or EditForm, it would be more appropriate to apply custom JavaScript in the NewForm
or EditForm page.
