Drop Down menus not working in newest Internet Explorer. Ant suggestions??

Wait - are you using the long-discredited Macromedia "Popup menus"?
I'm surprised those still work in any browser. You should read this about them -

It's illuminating....

Why are my slide shows disappearing and drop down menus not working?
I have a huge problem with clients currently waiting on a response from us.
We have created a website with MUSE, we have implemented slideshows and drop down menus which work fine when you preview them.
HOWEVER, once we put an editor in place for the client to then input their content onto the website, all of the slideshows disappear and the drop down menus no longer work!?
What do I do to rectify this problem??
Thanks GuysThis actually did work... But, I have figured out that the issue is really in IE7... and for whatever reason the code was making IE8 go into compatability mode (essentially using IE7).

Drop down menus not working in IE7
My devolper created a template for me using the Spry Menu Bar.
Everything is great, except in IE7, where the submenus drop down underneath the content below.
Here is the page:
http://test.swellinfo.com
If you pull this up in IE7, using IE tester, you will not be able to see the drop down menus... They are coming down, but are just hidden underneath.
Any help, is so greatly appreciated!
Thank you,This actually did work... But, I have figured out that the issue is really in IE7... and for whatever reason the code was making IE8 go into compatability mode (essentially using IE7).

Acrobat X 10.1.1 - Colors picker drop down menus not working
Colours picker drop down menus are not working stuck on default in all selections - Is there any work around / any other way to bring in or select an exact RGB / HEX etc colour besides using this picker if it doesn't work?
- ChrisYou can programmatically set the various field colors (text, background, border) using JavaScript. For more information:
Color arrays: http://livedocs.adobe.com/acrobat_sdk/9.1/Acrobat9_1_HTMLHelp/JS_API_AcroJS.88.260.html
textColor property: http://livedocs.adobe.com/acrobat_sdk/9.1/Acrobat9_1_HTMLHelp/JS_API_AcroJS.88.726.html
So you could set up a temporary button and use the following script in the Mouse Up event:
// Set the text color to the RGB color (237,121,5),
// which is a nice pumpkin color
getField("text1").textColor = ["RGB", 237/255, 121/255, 5/255]; -
Hi, I am using DVDSP2.0.0 - it has been working fine for ages then suddenly about half of the drop down menus have stopped working - for example if I go to the "First Play" drop down menu in the "Disc" window and click on it - it goes blank. Any help on this would be much appreciated. NB: I recently did a software update including going up to OSX 10.11.4 and also a Pro application support update.
No-one from Apple, apart from the moderators, reads this forum. If you need to send feedback about a product there are alternative places to do so, which will be more effective than ranting here.
V2 has been quite a long time outdated now, and I don't think it is unreasonable to update your software to keep up with the developments in the OS. The software depends on Quicktime for a lot of the things it does, but changes to the QT architecture with successive OS updates are not backwardly compatible with older QT releases. QT6 is a different beast to QT7, for example. The only way to reliably keep older software running is to not update the OS.
That said, I do still occasionally see if DVDSP v1 still runs and the machine I have that on has 10.4.x on it... yet I installed it at 10.0.x, I believe. Amazing really, but then it is a different set of code to v2.
The other thing to consider when menu entries go AWOL is whether or not you have any font management software running, and if you have inadvertently turned off any fonts which the software uses.
Finally, if you have the older OS on a disc, can you not simply downgrade until such time as you get to a point where the upgraded FC Suite makes sense for you? -
We upgraded from BCM 2007 to BCM 2013. Now the BCM disappears from Outlook occasionally and the drop down menus are confused. for instance when accessing the drop down for phone numbers, the user selects company - but the field for TTY/TDD comes up.
Shows fields that don't exist etc.
The client is using Office 2013 Pro Premium from Office 365 Small Business Premium subscription and BCM downloaded from Microsoft website.
Please let me know what the support avenues are for this product.
Chris SmithHi,
This issue may be caused since the BCM was not installed properly.
Please go to Control Panel -> Programs and Features, find Business Contact Manager for Microsoft Outlook and Uninstall it.
Then go to
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=36513, download the right version of BCM(32bit or 64bit) and install it.
If issue persists, you may provide the screenshots of the issue, post them to SkyDrive and share it via a link:https://skydrive.live.com/, then we will have a better understanding on the issue.
Thanks,
Melon Chen

Drop down menus NOT working properly!
I am using Windows Surface Pro tablet running Window 8. I am using Adobe Reader X
The problem: I have a PDF with drop down menus that will allow me to auto-populate certain fields.
When I touch the screen to open the drop down menu, the drop down menus open but when I touch the item that I want, the dropdown menu simply closes and doesn't populate the field.
The drop down menus themselves are populated correctly with the choices I am supposed to select, I just can't actually select any from the drop down list.
I have tried this on two SurfacePro tablets and I get the same resutls. I talked to Microsoft Support and they said it was an Adobe issue.
Any ideas?McBlob
Thanks for the reply. The strange thing is that I can use a mouse and the drop down list works fine and I can open the drop down list with my finger or stylus and then use the down arrow on a blue tooth keyboard and I'm able to select and populate the field without any problems.
There seems to be some disconnect with selecting my desired value from the list by touch only. Mouse and keyboard are able to select and populate correctly.
I worked with a Microsoft tech support agent and all functions of the Surface Pro tablet work fine. I tried editions 9,10,11 of Adobe Reader and they all have the same dysfunction with the drop down list. -
Drop down menus not working in IE
I am working on a site with and have implemented a drop down
menu. The menu works in Safari, however it does not work in IE on
Windows. The menu was created using Web Assist CSS Menu Writer.
Below is the URL for the test home page I created.
http://corecenteroffitness.com/index2.html
Below is a link to a seperate page inside the site.
http://corecenteroffitness.com/pages/facilities_amenities/index.html
I hope someone can help?
Thank you,
RichHi
I don't know about Web Assist so can't help directly.
I you need another alternative, lots of people use:
http://htmldog.com/articles/suckerfish/dropdowns/
I've also found DynamicDrive to be useful:
http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex1/index.html
In fact I implemented a custom version of their Chrome Menu (
http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex1/chrome/index.htm)
on a project so I know it works.
Hope this helps -
DW CS4 Horizontal Spry drop down menu not displaying correctly in Internet Explorer 8
Hi,
I have created a horizontal Spry drop down menu in Dreamweaver CS4 with my own background images. I have done various modifications to the CSS script to accommodate the style and feel needed; including making the main buttons' height twice the size of the sub menu buttons and some alignments. It seems to work different depending which browser is used.
It works well in Google Chrome.
It works well in Firefox with the exception that if any of the buttons are clicked, thereafter a thin black line is diplayed horizontally across center of the top main buttons when the mouse rolls over them. I would like to correct this but is not nearly as bad as the problem I'm having in Internet Explorer 8.
Here is my biggest concern and I would greatly appreciate if anyone can shed some light on this matter.
Once opened in Internet Explorer 8 the main navigation buttons appear as they should. IE8 prompts me the following: "To help protect your security, Internet Explorer has restricted this webpage from running scripts or ActiveX controls that could access your computer. Click here for options..". Once I allow IE8 to run scripts or ActiveX controls, the background image disappears and only shows on any menu or submenu button when the mouse rolls over that particular button. Can someone please help.
The menu can be seen at work by clicking on this link:

SpryMenuBar.js
This file handles the JavaScript for Spry Menu Bar. You should have no need
to edit this file. Some highlights of the MenuBar object is that timers are
used to keep submenus from showing up until the user has hovered over the parent
menu item for some time, as well as a timer for when they leave a submenu to keep
showing that submenu until the timer fires.

Thanks in advance for any of your help.
Jose H.Hello Nancy,
I was troubleshooting For the next 8 hours after my post here and eventually I got it right, I uploaded the files to the test server and at the time did not have the chance to post the solution here. This is why, as you saw, it is working correctly now. Both the CSS and HTML files needed modifications. While working on the code I had to run IE8, Chrome and Firefox simultaneously and refresh all three after every change in the code because what would fix the problem in one would cause a problem for the other.
In addition to the problems listed in my original post, there were also other graphical issues in IE8, such as; the main menu buttons without sub-menus would only display at half their size vertically. The border around the buttons would not display despite that the background images were rendered in Photoshop as flattened JPEGs with boarders as part of the background image. Being so, I removed all borders from the CSS script.
By the way.. the IE8 security measure did pop up while working from the server.
Anyhow for those of you who are experiencing similar problems you can take a look at the working code bellow and compare it to the initial code. I've included detail comments on every line I have changed, modified or added.
Good luck.. as I know it can become a complicated task when creating custom Spry menus.

Homepage drop down menu not working - no stray file.
The site is: http://ww.qtadvisors.com
The drop down menus are working on every page but not on the homepage. The only thing I added recently was the Twitter feed. Can someone help? I looked for any stray files and there are none.
thanks!
SteveIt appears you were able to figure this out. The sub-menus are working fine on the home page.
Thanks,

FIREFOX FRONTMOTION DROP DOWN MENU NOT WORKING
My company recently gave us Frontmotion Firefox, I am so happy to finally quit using IE. My company's website works fine with IE, all is well except on mouseover the drop down menus do not appear (This is also true for any website I try). I have looked all over the internet for a solution but all the questions and answers are about developers and code writing. I see there is the ability to "inspect element" and make changes to the code but I don't get it. I have tried in safe mode but nothing happens, I really don't have add-ons either. Please help I love Firefox and would like to continue using it.
Try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.
*Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"
*https://hacks.mozilla.org/2010/09/hardware-acceleration/
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.

Spry drop down menu not working after page created from template
Hi all.
I created a template and the drop down Spry menu is working fine on local testing on my browser as follows:
I then created a New Page from this above Template. I did no alteration to this new page and just saved it as index.html but when previewing it in the browser, the Spry drop down menu is not working and the page displays as follows:
Here is my site map:
Any help to show where I am going wrong would be much appreciated.
Thanks.Dear Nancy
Very grateful for your reply.
On Design View and Preview in browsers the index.dwt page spry works fine.
When I create a child page from this template page, the child page looks fine in design view but does the spry fails to preview in browsers (the spry just shows as words and not drop down menus).

Animated drop down buttons not working in movie clip
Hi,
I am working on this site: (AS2)
http://www.steamandclean.com/Index_w_1.html
I have two types of drop down menu. One under Commercial and one under Technical
The buttons are movie clips. The drop downs are also movie clips that start in frame 2 and are triggered on rollover.
The child buttons are buttons living on the drop down movie clips. They are set to getURL
As you see they are not willing to neither link to any url or will they run their move clip animation. One is a button and one is a movie clip.
The left movie clip has a mask, but it makes no difference if I remove the mask . It also has a emboss filter and no difference is I take that away either.
All of it is in one flash movie right now, but I will be splitting it up in a master navigation movie and individual swf's soon.
Right now I have the main movie, then the button MC then the dropdown MC and in the drop down MC I have placed either a animated (button) MC or a button. So it nested in nested in.......
In both cases I scripting the child buttons like this:
on (rollOver) {
gotoAndPlay(2);
on (rollOut) {
gotoAndPlay(6);
on (release) {
getURL("http://steamandclean.com");
I have also tried to use
_parent.getURL and _root.getURL in stead of just get URL, but it does not work.
The drop down buttons seem to be buried. In the left side the whole drop down panel seems to act like a link?
What am I doing wrong?
Can you help?
ggaardeHi Ned
Thank you for your reply again.
I figured it out.
Your reply prompted me to have my main button on rollover to go to a frame number on the main time line and then move the content of the drop down movie clip to that frame.
The drop down panel now work and the child buttons animation now work as well. I just had to find a way to make the drop down panel disappear on rollout. Since I could not script the actual drop down panel I created three skinny invisible buttons and placed them on the right, left and button of the drop down panel. I scripted them to go back to frame 1 on both rollover and rollout. Done.
See the result there:

(Left side only)
Thank you for your help.
