Dropped back up library into iPhoto and everything is gone

I have photos on an old time machine that I needed to download. For some reason I was told I di not have permissions to open photo (I assume because I changed my user nmae and pass on a newer computer) I was able to access the photos and and I dragged the library folder to desktop.

I assume that you made a backup of your library prior to starting this project. This would be a good time to restore it and start over.
...it highlighted but when I thought it would download everything I received a message that it could not read one of the files and should it continue...I pressed yes but nothing happened except every one of my photos that were in my current file are gone. I have spent the weekend organizing them all...where can they be and what happened?
That is not clear but restoring the back up from before doing this would be the place to start
Then use TM to restore the old iPhoto database to a different location (tell TM to keep both files) - you then depress the option key and launch iPhoto and use the select library option to change between libraries. once both libraries are tested and working correctly you may want to look at iPhoto Library Manager - http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/iplm/ - to facilitate merging them or working with two libraries

I upgraded to iPhoto 11 and drag and dropped my old library into it, causing picture quality to reduce

I gather that I shouldn't have done this as it copies each thumbnail and this reduces the quality. I then exported the pictures to my Pictures folder as they weren't there. My question is; I still have the original Library with pictures. Is there anything I can do to start the process again so I ma getting the same qualitry of images I had previously?

Let me start from the beginning. I had a problem with iPhoto, after trying a few things myself, I took it to the Apple store, who tried a few things and then decided to backup my files, then erase everything and start from scratch. New OS, reload Applications etc. I then went to iPhoto and simply dragged the iPhoto library which was within pictures onto iPhoto. It got all my photos, but very poor quality. I now understand this is not the best way to do it.
So, I need to know the besy way to;
1) Remove all the pictures from iPhoto as they are poor quality
2) Replace with the original quality pictures that I had.
I have located a file called Originals within the iPhoto Library folder which was in Pictures which contains all my photos at the quality I want them. So another way to put the question is; what is the easiest way of getting these pictures into iPhoto and replacing the poor quality ones that are currently there.

Right now when I want to move a picture from one event to another I drag it to my desktop then delete it from iPhoto then I drag it back into iPhoto and put where I want it.An example would be taking a photo from the Christmas event and add it to a specific person event. Can I do that within the events section without all the dragging. Also is there anyway I can remove duplicates from iPhoto without going through each and every file. Apple doesn't make it easy to do what you want. However, here's how I do it.
Select the photo you want to move and create a new Event for it via the Event ➙ Create Event menu option.
In the Event mode select the new Event with the one picture and drag it onto the Event you want to move the photo to.

Import Backed-up Library in iPhoto '09

Hi all,
This summer, the hard drive of my MBP crashed. While i lost a few photos, most of them where backed using Time Machine on an External Hard Drive. As I was trying to copy them back, I just dragged the iPhoto Library file onto iPhoto. This was definitely not successful as it did copy all the photos, but from about 8,000 they became over 20,000 as the 'faces' feature saved each face in the library as a different photo. This also changed all my ex-well-organized 121 events to about 200 extremely disorganized new events. What do I do? I just want to import a backed up library to iPhoto so that it is just as it was when i saved it.

I wish it could be so easy, but I have some new pictures I have on my current *screwed up* library that I have imported and that I only have over there. I tried selecting all the bad events and drag them to the trash but that did not work. Do you have any advice?
What did not work?
Did you try to move these events to the "iPhoto trash" using the iPhoto program or the system trash using the finder?
For now I suggest dragging the existing bad iPhoto library to the desktop and dragging the old one ot the pictures folder and getting it working - then you probably will have two choices - trying to rebuild the bad library with iPhoto library manager - http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/iplm/ - and using it to move events to the now working older library - or using just the original photos form the newer, bad library and importing them into the now working older library - if you need details post back with the method you want to try

It should. So they aren't shown in the Last Import smart album, right? Try the following:
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
2 - Run Option #4, Rebuild Database, followed by Option #1 if needed.

Open the folder /Library/Application Support/iPhoto/Plugins/
To navigate to that folder, open the folder "Library" directly on your Macintosh HD, then inside the Library folder go to Application Support, then iPhoto. Is there anything installed?

Cannot import old library into iPhoto '11

When trying to import a backup of my iPhoto '08 Library into iPhoto '11 it says the file is unreadable. Any suggestions?

you open iPhoto libraries - depress the option key and launch iPhoto and use the select library to point to the old library you want to upgrade (you will no longer be able to use it with iPhoto '08) and iPhoto '11 will open and convert it
If iPhoto '11 will not see it then it is corrupt - try iPhoto Library Manager - http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/iplm/ - and see if it will rebuild it so it will work

Importing Library into iPhoto 5

I tried dragging my iPhoto library folder into iPhoto and it says: The following files could not be imported (they may be an unrecognized file type or the files may not contain valid data). However, there is nothing wrong with the files. The only way I've gotten it to work is to drag a file onto the desktop and then drag it in... I'm not about to do this 2,000 times!
I read the help info and it says that there is an import choice in the file menu... well, not on my version. Can someone help me please?! I just want my pictures to show up in iPhoto!

This suggests that you have a damaged database. You don't want to add photos to an unstable entity. Best to create a new one.

Unless you can set the Time Capsule's drive to have it's ownership ignored
you won't be able to use the library on the same volume as the Time Machine backups.

I recieved a photo via text on my iphone and then I synced my iphone to my macbook and now it is in iphoto. I already know that the date on the photo per the tag that shows up on it in iphoto is NOT the date the photo was actually taken. I need article or literature or something confirming the tag is from when it was sent to the iphone and/or when it was imported. I greatly appreciate some assistance!

All I am trying to do is find something on a forum board or article etc stating that the the date showing in iphoto could be the date it was imported or synced or sent to me and not the actual date taken.
The date on the photo could be anything because you can edit the date with iPhoto or any of 100 apps, free and paid for. So, the date on the photo will prove nothing, I'm afraid.
