Dual 30-pin connector

Is there way to connect more than 1 accessory to an iPad? I've got a MIDI adapter used with an app, and I'd like to output the display from the iPad to a monitor (using the VGA adapter) at the same time.
If it's not possible to connect 2 30-pin accessories, is there another way to get the video output to a monitor that might work? Thanks!

Tried a google search. I was at least expecting something saying that it wasn't possible, but maybe my google foo isn't working well today I did see an Apple HDMI adapter with a 2nd 30 pin connector built in (for charging), but I was hoping to be able to use a VGA adapter.
It does seem like there's no dual 30 pin connector. That's why I asked about any other options - maybe a bluetooth video adapter or something.
Thanks!

The Apple Support Communities are an international user to user technical support forum. As a man from Mexico, Spanish is my native tongue. Unless you bought the iPad directly from Apple in the last couple of weeks, you likely cannot exchange your 3G for the 4G.

  • How many pin connector/2nd hard drive recoomendations?

I have a dual 2 GHz PowerPC G5 Mac that I got maybe 2-3 years ago, probably closer to the latter.
I am getting into HiDef video editing and will be adding a 400 Gig SATA hard drive to the internal bay at the back of the top inside of the computer.
There appears to be 2 female ribbon connectors below the top hard drive on the outboard edge closest to the removable side aluminum door panel.
One female pin connectors is longer, the other shorter.
I am trying to figure out whether I need a 7 pin connector hard drive or a 21 pin.....I will be getting a Seagate hard drive.
Anyone have a definitive answer compared to a guess?
Also, what hard drive of this size would be a plug and play sorta thing without having to do all sorts of whizbang stuff.....I hear Western Digitial has some 10,000 rmp drives, but I need a high sustained transfer rate fast drive to handle realtime editing using Final Cut Express. Suggestions?
    Thanks.

Ok, I got the same box as you.
I am getting into HiDef video editing and will be adding a 400 Gig SATA hard drive to the internal bay at the back of the top inside of the computer.
Ok HiDef really, really, REALLY, takes up drive space. Especially in uncompressed formats. If your doing this on any regular basis your going to have to seriously consider speed and data redundancy with something like Apple's X-RAID and a Fiberchannel PCI card with a RAID 5 setup and a lot of drives.
Obviously your going to have to learn all about RAID. Sure you could slap a 400GB drive in and go, but as that beast fills up it's going to crawl and your going to have problems as the speed drops considerably as the drive fills up.
You could roll your own external RAID O with a SATA PCI card and a SATA drive enclosure as a working disk for speed, but don't get a whole lot of storage. Backup the finished files to the 400GB internal SATA at night with auto-backup software. But I think of you do this regularly your going to eat up that 400GB in no time flat.
Depends how involved you get, how much money you got to spend.

One is a SATA connection the other is the power supply for the drive.

All you need to know is SATA or Serial ATA. Plug it in and Mac OS X will take you right to Disk Utility to format it. Do a Erase w/Zero, format HFS+(journaled) The "Zeroing" will rewrite the drives bad sector map and make your writes considerably more reliable, it takes some time, but boy is it worth it! You can't do this later without completely erasing the drive. Video needs a good write source as they are very large files.

SATA drives are plug n' play. Just what your G5 needs.
However if your doing a lot of video I suggest a Apple Fiberchannel PCI card and a X-RAID. Because you need large storage space, redundancy of data and speed for lots of HD video. This comes at the price of a lot of drives and a very fast interface.
The Raptors are fast, but they don't have a lot of storage space. The largest one at 10K RPM's has only 150GB of space and you need a Firmtek SATA PCI card to hook them up to G5's (excluding the Quad supposedly). So they make great boot drives and small storage drives.
Of course it's possible to get a 8 bay external SATA enclosure, a FirmTex 8 port SATA PCI card and eight 150GB Raptors and have a total of 1200 GB of drive space. Which you could roll 4 drives as a RAID O (striped) for 600GB as a working disk and the other 4 drives as combined into one for 600GB of backup storage.
Of course you can also use other larger drives with 16MB caches in the external enclosure but they run at 7,200 RPM's which would be fast enough if you striped them for a working disk.
Everything depends upon how much GB's of data you intend to be using daily, and if time = money then speed is a big factor, and if a lot of files then storage space and for backup. Plus how much you can spend.
If you need consulting services for a professional installation then your going to need someone to help you make the right decisions.
Apple's X-RAID is pretty easy and they will help you get set up, but it costs considerable amount of money. If you knew a bit more of what you can reasonable expect you would be doing with HD, also if you knew a bit more about the technology, you could do things yourself.
So you can either go through a couple year learning curve, hire somebody, or spend the money for a Apple X-RAID and have them walk you through the installation.
    Here is some resources.

There are also a lot of Pro Mac video sites which you can google for and start learning. You could also ask in the Apple pro video forums what would be a good hardware configuration for your particular needs.

  • How can i use my iPad 2 as a display via the 30 pin connector ?

i want to use my ipad as a display from a range of devises like my video camer, computer and dvd player. The ipad outputs its display, so is there a way of using the 30 pin connector to input video?

    Hi there,
At this time you cannot use your iPad as a display like you describe.
However, you can buy the extra Camera Connection Kit, to import video and pictures from some camera's and SD Cards.

I have not yet seen any official response to the question: "Is the Apple AV Composite cable fully supported with 30pin connector devices upgraded with iOS7 - specifically ? - eg. iPad 2, iPhone 4, iPhone 4s"
If it is not currently supported is that then due to a bug / oversight and in that case is it something that will be fixed in the near future?

My 30-pin dock is connected to my lightning to 30-pin connector which is connected to my iPod touch 5g. But my iPod will only charge, and will not play music through my dock, only through the iPod's internal speaker. Help please!

Have you tried resetting both the iPod and dock? To reset the iPod, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.
To reset the dock, unplug it and plug it back in.

  • Lightning to 30 pin connector not charging my nano from my dock

Is it just me, or does the Apple Lightning to 30 pin connector not pass charge correctly?
I bought a new iPod Nano a few weeks ago, not realising I would be getting one of the new Lightning connector ones, so when I ordered my iPad from Apple I also bought a Lightning to 30 pin connector so that I can properly use my JBL dock (which is quite old, bought it with my old 5th Gen iPod). Although it's great that it connects and allows me to control the iPod with the remote control and is a **** of a lot neater than dangling it by a cable from the headphone jack to the RCA input on the dock, I'm getting really frustrated by the fact that I'm not getting any charge being passed through to the iPod from the dock. This was one of the best things about having a dock, not only could I play my music with a good quality sound from the speakers, I could also play it all day long without worrying about the battery consumption as it was being charged at the same time. Now, if I've been using the iPod at the gym through the week, I find that I'm having to take the iPod off the dock and charge via a wall charger or my laptop - the latter allowing me to rever to the old way of hooking the iPod to the dock via headphone jack. It's really annoying that I've spent so much money on something that doesn't do everything I'd expected of it. I'm wondering if it's faulty or if it's the age of the dock - which I haven't used with an iPod for about 5 years!
Has anyone else had this problem?

Have you tried resetting the dock by removing it from power?  What about resetting the iPod Touch? To do this, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.

  • New iPad with retina display with 30 pin connector mirroring to TV with dvi adapter problems after software update

Hi. Good day to everyone my New iPad with retina display 30 pin connector will not mirror to TV even with divi adapter after software update. Adapter works fine. Or is it a software glitch with IOS 7.04? I've tried resetting and reconnecting nothing seems to work.

That's one of the weird things.. it recognizes it maybe 10% of the time. And usually, only after I do the two-button reset. Problem is.. since it won't charge above 2%, anytime I try to do a restore or anything like that using iTunes, my device shuts off and I lose whatever progress I'd made.
So, an update... after reading through a bunch of similar complaints (there are literally 1000's of them so there's NO WAY this isn't somehow ios7 related, thanks a lot APPLE ) I decided to try a restore in recovery mode. After 3 hours and several disconnections... I ended up having to just set it up as a new iPad, as the restore did nothing. Weirdly though... as I was doing the restore in recovery mode.. I noticed I'd gotten up to a 10% charge.. higher than it's been since September, so after setting it up as a new device, I turned it off and plugged it in using the wall charger. 2 hours later and I was up to 38%. Still not great, as my iPad, before ios7 could've fully charged twice in the amount of time it took for me to now get 28% more of a charge. And that's with a fully cleaned out device.. so that really ***** and I'm now more confused than ever.
But I'm gonna leave it overnight charging and see what I come up with tomorrow. Sadly, when I paid $600 for it in February, I never expected to have to play "wait and see" with it...

  • IPhone dock 30-pin connector to line-out 3.5mm adapter/cable?

    Hi folks,
I'm looking for a compact adaptor or cable to go from my iPhone 30-pin connector to a 3.5mm cable (or 3.5mm plug). Wondering if there are any recommendations, as some pre-date the iPhone and thus prompt the iPhone to switch to airport mode...
    I've found:
SendStation - Products - PocketDock Line Mini Out USB (I don't need the USB part, but it's handy I guess)
    http://www.inspiretech.com/p-483-dock-to-35-auxilary-audio-cable.aspx
IPHONE LINE OUT DOCK W/ 3.5MM JACK (WHITE COLOR) - eBay Other, Audio Cables Connectors, A V Accessories Cables, Electronics. (end time 17-Sep-09 02:25:07 AEST)
ZIP-AUDIO-IP1-B iPod/iPhone Retractable Stereo 3.5mm to iPod/iPhone Dock Connector (White), Apple Mac and iPod Accessories
There are no doubt other (maybe better?) options so look forward to any tips.
    Cheers,
    B

Did deeper research.  It's apparently true that phone call audio is not and cannot be routed to the "line out" of the iPhone.  I'm disappointed.  It appears to be a hardware design thing, as I've found no app that would enable this, and darned if I can think of a situation that would have this capability as a downside.

  • My apple lightening to 30 pin connector doesn't play analog music

When I plug in my iphone 5 to the apple brand lightening adaptor to 30 pin connector music does not play through my speakers on my radio, it plays through the iphone speakers. It does charge if I have my 12V to USB charger converter in there, but with that converter in or out, still no analog music plays.
My 30 pin nano works just find through the speakers.
    Please help!

A friend had the same complaint. I took my Apple adapter out of my car and put it in place of his and everything worked perfectly. I suggest he do as I did and go the Apple Store for the adapter rather then his third party one that while cheap has been proven to actually be worthless.

  • Pin connector for front headphone ja

The front headphone jack cable connection on my Dell 4600 is incompatible with my new Xtreme Gamer soundcard's male pin connection. Can anyone tell me where to find the correct female pin connector, and how do I know which leads go to which pin slots? Thanks?

more or less to adapt the here is the crude way to do it. DO AT YOUR OWN RISK. . Check to see if you have some slack from /8-/4" of an in in cable is going bye bye.2. Cut all the wires or the cable with all the colored ones in them about /2-" up the line.3. Strip exposed ends as to allow splicing on the Blue, Green, Yellow, Orange, Red, Black, and brown cables only.4. on the plug side twist together these wire colors [The should always be back to back]:?Blue and Green??Yellow and Orange5. Splice the wires together from plug piece to wires goint to front:??[Blue+Green {Step 4}] to just the Blue Wire? The Purple and Navy Blue that went into the hole next to plugged are not used trim all off plug.
[Yellow +Orange{Step 4}] to just the Yellow wire.
Brown to Brown?Black to Black?Red to Red6. Check your work: Wires not connected that lead to front of computer should be: Grey, Orange, Purple, and Navy.7. Use electrical tape to cover exposed splices area on each splice. Make sure tight at least 2 rotations.8. Use electrical tape to wrap all wires together and tightly.9. Plug the newly rewired plug into your SB Card.0. DONE.

  • 30 pin connector to HDMI

Will the neew 30 pin connector to HDMI which allows viewing on the monitor what you see on the IPad also work with the original IPad One?

Apple's description implies that it only mirrors for the iPad2. It will allow an HDMI output for the iPad1 (and some other iDevices) just like the VGA and other "TV" out cables.
