Dumb and in need of help - inDesign and DejàVu

Hi everybody. What happens is I am a translator who usually works with DejàVu and very simple files (mainly *.doc). This time I have to deal with an original *.indd (an art catalogue). I have tried my best. Dowloaded a trial version of inDesign, exported the *.indd to *.idml so that DejaVu could handle it, but DejàVu, for some reasons, couldn't handle it. It was not a good start, so much the worse as I was even before this scared that my lack of experience would turn out to be fatal (a fully translated file in DejaVu I wouldn't be able to export a day before the deadline, for example).
Now, because I really don't wish to find myself in that scary situation and because my client is very happy to receive a translation of the text in there only, and a *.doc file would suit her fine, I thought I could spare myself the hussle and simply copy the text ONLY from my *.indd into a *.doc. Is that possible? Could you tell me how to do that, considering that I am opening inDesign for the SECOND time and I desperately need detailed directions...
The job is urgent, just for a change.
In the future I promise I will put my mind and my time to it and learn to deal with all of this. Past time I should realize we ARE in the future...
I'd be very grateful if anybody could help.

For that you can call up the Scripts Panel (it's under Windows, Automation) and run the script "ExportAllStories.jsx". This is somewhere inside the sub-folder Applciation > Samples > JavaScript.
It's kind of dumb in that it exports *all* of the text frames into a separate export file so you still have to paste them together in one single Word file, but at least you know you got all of them.

That layer is locked: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/indesign/cs/using/WSa285fff53dea4f8617383751001ea8cb3f-70e8a.h tml, topic "Lock or unlock layers". In short, call up the Layers Panel, un-lock all of the layers, then try again. (If you are using the ExportAllStories script this might not even be necessary.)

That doesnt tell us anything useful. You need to post EXACTLY what you did and EXACTLY what happened, including any error messages.

Time Capsule wifi access very poor. it keeps disconnecting and i need to power on and off thr router to get the wifi connection back again. When it works its so slow, it works only in the roms nearby and not even upstairs in my home!

Fix wireless channels.. option page in wireless are of utility.. you need to spend more time in the utility so you know what is there.
Location is everything.. sometimes you simply need more than one device.. wireless has limited range. Use ethernet or EOP - homeplug adapters to place another AP in area closer to your position.

edit the hosts file on your computer and remove any lines that contain gs.apple.com. Disable your antivirus and firewall.

Hello I have a few questions and I need some help with my iTunes and iPod

Hello iTunes people.
I have a little problem with my iTunes. I actually almost know nothing about iTunes really. But I have had a 80 gig ipod .. ummm I think it's a iPod classic maybe. A long time ago I just downloaded iTunes. I think one of my tech friends already had put the program onto my PC so I did not even have to download it. Anyways I put my life's collection of mp3's onto iTunes and then syncs it with my iPod and it worked great. Here is my problem. I just recently bought a MONSTER PC. I have lovingly named it " ED209 " I downloaded iTunes for it and I have the most up to date version.8.1.1 is the most current version correct? Ok well here is my problem. What I want to do is I want to put everything that is currently on my iPod ONTO the iTunes library. I DO NOT want to import anything from the library or playlist or whatever you call it ONTO the iPod because there is nothing in the library. Now this is were its gets weird and possibly silly. A person I was chatting with on Facebook sort of made fun of me because she was like " Dude! Just push " Sync " But the reason I am paranoid is because THIS is the message I get....
" The iPod " Aaron's iPod " is synced with another iTunes library. Do you want to erase this ipod and sync with this iTunes library? "
HOLY COW!! That girl on Facebook was making fun of me but READ THAT. That exactly says ERASE the "iPod" and Sync with THIS library " It does not say put what is ON the iPod into THIS Library. It says it the other way around. Clear as day it says it will ERASE the " Ipod " it does not say " Fill the library with whats on your iPod "
Do I all of a sudden not understand English or something???? I know how to freaking read and from what it says is sounds a 100 percent like " we will ERASE youe iPod and put everything from this playist or library onto your iPiod" But there is NOTHING in my library? I am trying to read the help files and the FAQ and whatever else Apple provides you with but it has SO MUCH crap that looks usless. 1). Connect your iPod to your computer. When you get the message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod.
2). When your iPod appears in the iTunes source list change the update setting to manual, that will let you continue to use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default: Managing content manually on iPod and iPhone
3). Once you are connected and your iPod is safely in manual mode there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. iTunes will only let you copy your purchases directly from an iPod to the computer, you'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
For everything else (music from CDs, other downloads and including iTunes purchases) there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. You can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here:

4). Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync.
5). I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay: Back up your iTunes library by copying to an external hard drive

Are ports 1521 (for JDBC) and 2481 (for IIOP) open on your firewall? That's what my problem turned out to be.

Need Quick Help: LR and PS issue

In my work flow, I do all of my adjustments in LR but I do send certain photos into PS to get fine tuned and then the file is usually re-imported back into LR so that I can organize my files and upload them to various sites and services.
The issue that I am having now, is that when I choose to save the photo as a full sized JPEG it no longer automatically imports in back into LR even if I manually do it. It only re-imports the photos automatically if I save it as a Tiff.
Someone recommended on another forum that I might need to change the file names which worked, but no longer linked the photo to the original cr2 file.
Could anyone help me resolve this issue?

You might want to read the thread. The OP is rendering the file to PS. Irrespective of whether the RAW file is converted to DNG or not this requires the creation of a TIFF or PSD.
Converting a TIFF to DNG would be pointless ,DNG is a TIFF itself, and create larger files as TIFF's zip compression, which is lossless, is not only the same as used by DNG but can also support layers which DNG cannot.
Personally the only time I open a file from LR into PS is when I have a issue that requires the use of layers as anything else editing wise can be done in LR. I always save with the layers intact so I can reopen if I need. This does create pretty large files, from even smallish originals, let alone 21 MP cameras. However I have loads of hard drive space. If you are short of hard drive space then just enable TIFF's zip compression, this will be at the expense of longer save and open times, but otherwise have no effect on the files itself other than reducing its size considerable.
