Duplicate photo albums

Hi,
Just a quick one. When I select the following:
1. one of my Apple TV's in the iTunes 'DEVICES' list
2. the 'Photos' tab for that device
3. the 'Sync photos from iPhoto' radio button (selecting iPhoto from the drop down)
4. the 'Selected albums' radio button
I see not only a list of the albums I've created in iPhoto but also a list of created and published web galleries. These web galleries have the same name as the albums so I'm getting duplicates.
Anyone know of anyway of not showing the web galleries here and thus getting rid of the duplicates?
Regards
Stew

I'm having the same problem. Any solutions?

  • IOS 5 Duplicate Photo Albums

iOS 5 produces exact duplicate photo albums in my Photos on my iPhone.
Before syncing photos from my PC I had Camera Roll and Photo Stream.
In iTunes I configured my iPhone to sync with a folder containing photos, for this example we'll call it FolderX.
When the iPhone synced with that folder it created TWO albums, one called FolderX and one called Photo Library and they BOTH have the EXACT same photos.
So now I have Camera Roll, Photo Stream, Photo Library, and FolderX with the last two albums having the precise same number of the exact same photos.
I do not need this. I do not need two photo albums with the exact same pics. Why on God's green Earth would they make it do this?
When I click the "edit" button I do not get the option to to do anything to the albums except the FolderX album, and it only has the option to move it, but alas, it really doesn't let you move it even though the button is there.
I have already deleted all iPhone and iPod photo cache folders and resynced.
What do I need to do to have only one album on my iPhone with my photos, and not two?

Yeah this is REALLY frustrating.  It happened to me when I "upgraded" to iOS 5.  I've managed to figure out how to get rid of the duplicate photo albums by making a new folder outside the iPhone folder on my PC which is located in "My Pictures" on my computer.  I moved all the pictures from my actual iPhone to this new backup folder plus copied what was in the iPhone folder on my PC.
Once I was sure I had backed up all my pictures taken with my iPhone I deleted everything in the "iPhone" folder on my PC including the iPhone Cache folder.  I synced from the folder "iPhone" which was now empty & it made the duplicate albums disappear.
I tried syncing from the backup folder to using iTunes & WHAM duplicate photo albums again!!! All the same pictures but now one had the name "Photo Album" & the other duplicate was named the folder that I synced from.  IRRITATING!!!!
So I got rid of the duplicate albums by deleting everything in the iPhone folder on my PC & syncing from that folder chosen in iTunes.  It's a drag that I can't load up my pictures to enjoy or share without duplicate albums showing up.  I want to be able to put pictures from my computer to "Camera Roll" which allows me to delete whatever I don't want easily.
I hate that Apple has made this iCloud thing so duplicate folders show up on my phone without my ability to just delete pictures from those albums or delete the albums easily from my phone.
    FIX FIX FIX it Apple!
I should also note that I never allowed iCloud services on my iPhone & have NOT downloaded the service to my computer either.  I don't want anything to do with iCloud.

First of all, there is only 1 picture in my Camera Roll, why does it say 3?
This is a known issue that third party software like phoneview can fix.
Second, is there any way to remove the "Photo Library" from the Albums, or is that something we have to keep?
No. Your photos are not actually duplicated, this is just a pointer to the photos in the various albums you have synced.
If it's something we must keep, can we at least change the icon next to it so it's not the flower?
    No.

  • Duplicate photo albums on my phone??

When I create an album for my photos to go on my iphone, why does the phone create a duplicate album?

Well we can't be dealing with imaginings down here in West Clare, now can we
The problem is your question is vague. How did you sync to your phone? What settings? Does this Album mirror an Event? Have you synced both? What version of iPhoto? Of the OS? and the OS on the Phone?

  • IOS 5 Photo Albums

I have been attempting to create new albums within the Photos app (iPhone 4, IOS 5).  It seems that after I've created them (by adding photos from the camera roll), at some point they simply disappear.  The timing doesn't seem to be consistent--sometimes after a few seconds, sometimes after a few hours.  The camera roll and photo library are not affected, just the new albums that I created.  Anyone else having this problem?

  • ITunes syncs new photo albums with duplicate photos

I have Windows 7 and have an iPhone 4 with iOS 5.
I have been trying to sync photos into an album on my phone. After syncing I find duplicate photos in the album. Only one or two photos have not been duplicated. Also, I can also no longer select "Selected Folders" in iTunes.
The folder on my PC does not have any duplicate photos in it.
Is there any way to fix this?
    Thanks

I have a similar problem. The folder in my computer has 101 pictures, and 101 pictures show up on my iPhone 4S. The problem is that only about half the pictures transfer and those get duplicated on the phone. I've tried rearranging the pictures on my computer and repeatedly synching.

  • Duplicate photos in my photo library and another photo album?

So I don't know if this has to do with the ios 6 update I just did on my phone (most likely it is), but today i synced my phone like usual. I have two albums on my phoone besides the Camera roll. I have the photo library ( which i think all iphones have) & one album i called "uploaded photos". As you may know, the photo library has the same pictures as the ones in my "uploaded photos" album. So each one has 300 photos in them, but for some reason when I synced it today, the photos all got doubled/ duplicated. so instead of 300 photos, theres 600. There's just a duplicate of each picture? It's really bothering me because I don't want double the photos in each album, thats too much! I hope this makes sense, but does any one know how to fix it?

  • How can easily identify duplicate photos in a I photo album?

I have an  I photo album containing a large number of photos.  Is there a easy way to identify if there are duplicate photos that I have moved into the album?

The only way to determine if there are duplicates is to search the entire library for duplicates with one of these applications to identify and remove duplicate photos from an iPhoto Library:
    iPhoto Library Manager - $29.95
Duplicate Cleaner for iPhoto - free
Duplicate Annihilator - $7.95 - only app able to detect duplicate thumbnail files or faces files when one library has been imported into another with iPhoto 8 and earlier.
PhotoSweeper - $9.95 - This app can search by comparing the image's bitmaps or histograms thus finding duplicates with different file names and dates.
DeCloner - $19.95 - can find dupicates in iPhoto Libraries or in folders on the HD.

  • IPhoto album backups and duplicate photos

    Hello,
After uprading to iPhoto 6, I went through the whole library and put it all into about 15 separate albums. I've only got about 2000 photos, but it was still a lot of work. After I had done this, I started making a calendar, which for some strange reason make iPhoto practically refuse to run, so I had to re-install. (ther people on discussions have had the same problem, and the common factor seems to be trying to make a calendar).
After the re-install, I re-imported all my photos back into iPhoto. I'm not going to try and make a calendar straight away, as before I do, I really want to back up my Albums.
Does a straight complete backup of the iPhoto library folder back this up for me? If not, can anyone tell me how this can be achieved?
Secondly, after re-importing all my photos, the photos that I had previously edited now are present in two forms; the original and the edited one. Unfortunately it is too late to re-import my library having deleted the folder "Originals". I didn't think of it at the time!
Does anyone know of a way to delete duplicate photos, or how I could at least get them all side by side, as a lot are spaced out and therefore it can be hard to compare and see if they are duplicated.
Any ideas would be hugely appreciated, as this is really stopping me using iPhoto that much at the moment.
Many many thanks for any help, it will be extremely gratefully received!!
    Regards,
    Adam Dalton

    Hi Adam,
All you need to do is backup the entire iPhoto Library folder. This will preserve everything. If for some reason you need to use this backup then you would place it in the Pictures folder and launch iPhoto. iPhoto will launch and open the library. there is no need to import all your photos again.
If you have an iPhoto Library folder already in the Pictures folder, but you want to replace it or it is damaged, then drag that folder to the desktop and drag the backup into the Pictures folder, then launch iPhoto.
Bottom line...back up the iPhoto Library folder in the Pictures folder. do it often.
As far as the duplicates you have now, do you have your view set to film rolls? I would think since the film roll name is the same they would be next to each other. How about putting the name of the roll in the search field? You should get the contents of both modified and Originals from the rolls. You can then delete what you don't want.
    Backing up your iPhoto Library
    1. Burn the iPhoto Library folder in the Finder to a CD or DVD
This method will give you a burned iPhoto Library folder that can be copied back to your computer to replace a damaged library. You can also use this method to backup an old library when you want to create a new Library to use as your current library.
insert a blank CD into your internal or external CD-RW drive and copy the iPhoto library to the CD icon on your desktop. When you drag the CD icon to the Trash/Eject button in the Dock, you are given the option to burn the CD. Click Burn and the CD is created. To burn a DVD backup of your digital images, use a DVD and a SuperDrive-equipped Mac
The easiest way to burn an iPhoto Library folder in the Finder that is larger than 4.7 gig to fit on one DVD is to burn sections of the folder.
Drag the iPhoto Library folder to the desktop
Double click the folder to open it.
Drag each Year folder to the desktop.
You should be left with the iPhoto Library folder containing all the data files, and the Year folders.
Combine whatever year folders that amount closest to a DVD burn size on one DVD. Make sure that you have burned all the Year folders, then the iPhoto Library folder with all the data files.
If you ever need to use this backup, insert the DVDs into your computer and copy the folders to the desktop. Put all the Year folders back into the iPhoto Library folder. Then put the iPhoto Library folder back into the Pictures folder.
    2. Copy the ENTIRE iPhoto Library to an external drive formated for a Mac. Do not use this as your only back up as the external can also go bad.
    3. Copy the ENTIRE iPhoto Library to your iPod in disk mode
4.Creating your own CDs and DVDs for viewing in iPhoto
This method is a great way to back up Albums of older photos or even your entire library if it is small enough to fit on a DVD. This method will give you a library that will mount within iPhoto in the source column to be viewed. To import any images from this library they need to be dragged into your library in the source column.
If you just want to backup the images in your library:
    1) Within iPhoto select the images, albums or rolls you want to backup. Go to Share>Export and export them to a newly created folder on the desktop. Follow the directions in the next link.

  • How to remove a duplicate photo from an album.  Photo sweeper says there are no duplicates in photos

how can I remove duplicate photos from albums,  I have removed 2000 duplicates from iphoto using photo sweeper.  still duplicates in my album.

thanks, but in my albums trash is greyed out and hitting delete does nothing..
Is your album a smart album? You can only remove photos from smart albums by changing the smart rules for the album.
If I move the duplicate to another new album, can I then trash the new album?
It is still not clear, what duplicates you are asking about. Photos in albums are not duplicates. Albums are showing you the same photos you are seeing in your events, just grouped differently for easy access. You can delete any album completely and will still have the same photos in your iPhoto library.
If Photo sweeper says,"there are no duplicates", you probably really do not have duplicates in your iPhoto library.
You only have duplicates, if you are seeing identical photos twice in events, but not, if you you are seeing the same photo once in an album and once in an event. You can check that, by ctrl-clicking any photo in an album and selecting "Show Event". Then you will see, what the event is, that is containing this particular photo.

  • Revel Private Albums create duplicate photos in Elements 12

The problem is: some photos are duplicated in Photoshop Elements 12.  The duplicates appear after sharing a 'Private Web Album' to Adobe Revel.  The Private Web Album works correctly:  In Photoshop Elements, it is listed as a 'Mobile Album.'   Online, on Adobe Revel, the album is created and the photos are available.
After a while, the same photos are copied back to the computer's hard drive, and added to the Elements catalog.  The original photo remains in the correct location (C:\Users\John\Pictures\...) The new duplicate photo is added to the C:\Adobe Revel\... folder.
    Any ideas?  Thanks!
    PhotoShop Elements 12.1, Windows 8.1

    Hi John,
Since you are using the same Adobe ID for both services, duplication is happening. Please try this-
create a mobile album in left pane, add some files that you want to share, click on the Share icon present infront of album name in Mobile Albums panel, and share.
    Thanks

  • Duplicate iphoto album. Photos resorted

Right click an iPhoto album, choose Duplicate
Photos in new album are resorted.
How can I force the duplicate to retain sorting order of original album?
Snow Leopard version of iPhoto did not resort photos in duplicate album.
Workaround is to delete all photos in the duplicate album, and Copy/Paste all the photos from the original.
This retains the sorting order. But what a lot of unnecessary steps!
    -B

In Photos you need to show the side bar then right click to arrange your photos.

how do i restore photo albums without duplicates from time machine backups? thx

Worth updating?  Totally a personal decision. For some it would be. For others it would not?
Upgrading, if there are no problems, does not affect your data. And since bad things do happen you always have a good backup. Especially when doing any upgrade.
Your password question has nothing to do with iPhoto. Try it in the OS forum

  • Duplicate Photo Stream albums - iOS5 on iPhone4

    Hi,
I'm up to 3 duplicate photostream entries in the Photos app, none of which seem to be updated when I take pictures on my iPhone4.
Here's the sequence of events which I believe led to this problem:
    - When initially setting up the iOS 5 update on my iPhone4, I created an icloud account with my AppleID
    - At this point I believe I had one Photo Stream entry
    - Next, I deleted that iCloud account from the phone through Settings->iCloud->Delete Account, so that I could switch my iCloud account to be the AppleID I use for iTunes.
    - I logged in to Settings->iCloud with my iTunes AppleId, merged contacts, allowed Find My IPhone, and finally switched on PhotoStream
    - I believe this is when I saw the first duplicate.
    - In the time since, trying to find a solution, I came across this post: http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1247067
    - Unfortunately, turning photostream off of the current iCloud account on the phone, and then deleting it from the phone, did NOT delete one of the duplicate Photo Stream albums.
    - What's worse is logging back into Settings->iCloud on the phone, seems to have created yet another duplicate (for 3 total).
I'm really stuck here, and considering doing a full restore from my last itunes backup.
Thanks for any help you can provide!
    Jon

Yes I did.  After it synced my iphone said there were 244 photos that could not be synced and to see Itunes for more information which Itunes did not give me any more information. I don't know if this has anything to do with this or not. I have now gone back to Itunes and selected all the folders I wanted to keep and deselected all the ones I did not want to keep.  It has now synced every pic that was on my computer but the good news is the videos are now gone.  Which is what I really wanted.  I now understand how the videos got on my iphone in the first place.  It copied them from my computer.  Thanks for all your help. I couldn't have done it without you.
