Duplication of Serial Number

We are doing Goods receipt for Order into warehouse through MB31 - 101 movement. There we're selecting Production Order and entering the quantity. Based on the quantity entered we are getting fill-in boxes to enter Serial Numbers in "Maintain Serial Number" screen.
By default SAP is checking and not allowing serial number duplication across material, but we want avoid serial number duplication across database. i.e. serial number should be unique across database.
So we have build logic on enhancement EXIT_SAPLIPW1_001 and it's working fine, if the user click "Create serial number automatically" - data is getting validated, as expected. But if user types the serial number manually and submit, that time user exit is not getting fired and there is serial number duplication.
Please suggest me how to handle this issue?

Thanks a lot. Your answer gave me the clue and I have implemented it in EXIT_SAPLIPW1_007 and it's checking for duplication.
But problem now is... If duplication found I want to display a message and come out of the Screen/Transaction.
So I tried
MESSAGE 'Serial Number already exists' TYPE 'I'.
LEAVE TO TRANSACTION 'MB31'.
But message is not getting displayed it's just comming to MB31... but displaying message is important... how to do it?
I tried TYPE 'E' then message is getting displayed and it's asking for the correct serial no. also but if more than one serial no. is there then it's validating only the first one and allowing duplicates for others.
Idealy what I need is... if duplication found it has to display a message and ask for proper one...
How to do it? Advance thanks.

Possibility to change serial number of DAQ board

Hello,
In our company we need to build duplication of one measuring/adjusting station.
We already bought necessary hardware, unfortunately in the current application is probably some kind of protection :-(
When I replace in the PC current DAQ board (PCI-6052-E) to the new one then application stop running!
My thought, this application just check serial number of DAQ board! Is there any possibility to change serial number in the new board to the same value as is in the original card ???

I would hope that you would still have access to the source code. If you do, I would recomend you delete that portion that relies on detecting a specific serial number or whatever other scheme might be in place. It seems rather non-sensical to do such a thing for an internal application, at least without providing for a method to add a new tester without re-compiling the application. I know of no way to modify the serial number of an NI DAQ board. You might also want to look for other methods of protection such as reading of the MAC address or hard drive serial number.

How are you supposed to get help from Apple if you don't know what your serial number is? They say to input the serial number of the "product" that you are asking about. Since my problem is how to deauthorize/authorize computers, and they are saying I have more than 5 (which I have never owned more than 5 computers in my life), I can't imagine what serial number they mean. Does it mean your desktop computer? If so, which one? Do they mean your device? LIke your iPhone, iPod or whatever? Do they mean the software ON one of your computers and/or devices? If so, which program, and on which computer/device?
We have three operational computers, one does not have iTunes on it. Since Apple is saying I have more than 5 authorized computers, and I can't imagine what they are, I am afraid to deauthorize all my computers. See what I mean? I just wanted to ask the question about how I can find out WHICH computers Apple thinks I have authorized, so I can decide if it's safe to deauthorize them all or not. I only know of 2 computers that have iTunes on them, so how can there be 5? We also have 2 iPhones and 2 iPods in this family, but one of the iPhones has his own apple id. He may have been using mine, since his computer died. I read that those don't count as "computers" to the 5. Do they, then?

You could have more 5 computers authorized if you ever, for example, reformatted a hard drive or replaced a hard drive without deauthorizing the computer first. Apple's system would see that as a different computer, even though you don't. There's nothing to be afraid of in deauthorizing everything and the reauthorizing what you actually have. You won't lose any data. Mistimp is correct, they can't tell you which computers are authorized.

How Many Times Can I Use The Same Serial Number For Adobe Creative Suite 4?

I have design standard and was told I can use the same serial number on multiple computers. How many time can I use it? And say I install it on the maximum number of computers, but get a new computer, can I uninstall it on one of the old computers and use it on the new one? And can I use the programs on both computers simultaneously or do I have to use them one at a time?

Sorry Fred you are wrong.
If you have a single license you can install it on as many computers as you like. you can only activate the suite on two computers at anyone time. Work and Home or as many of us do it Desktop and Laptop. You can not use the computers simultaneously. You only have 20 activation/deactivations so use them wisely. Student versions only have one activation. You can not break up the suite installs the suite is considered one application.

How do I transfer an Acrobat serial number from one adobe account to another?

I've installed Adobe DC Pro on one of our user's computers. When it asked for an Adobe ID I entered the ID I used to purchase the serial number. Unfortunately now acrobat always starts on the new computer and displays my name instead of the end user name. So I'm wondering how to either transfer the serial number to the end user's adobe account, or alternatively re-associate the acrobat on the end user machine with the end user's own adobe account.

I don't know for the others but in my retail package ((not upgrade) I found two serial numbers. Though I haven't got time yet to try the second serial number on my MacBook, my logic says that with two different serials I could run both macs simultaneously and be on the network. But, my logic fails so often so it's better to shut my mouth, install Logic on MacBook and come back here again.

Unable to update the serial number through bdc in Sales Order

Hi experts,
I written the inboud FM for to update the 3rd party items serial number to the sales orders through BDC Call transaction Method.
Here i am facing a problem when i have the 19 item Quan ,it is updating correct through idoc , when ever there is moe than 19 and at that if any serial number repeated for that if i am changing at that time it is loosing the control of the BDC and giving the control to the salesorder screen.
how can i handle that control again has to come to BDC prgrm......

Goods receipt MB01 with serial number problem

Dear MM Experts,
Iam a PM Consultant and this problem faced me while doing goods receipt from external maintenance order so i will appreciate any help regarding this issue,
In serial number profiles i did the stock check indicator to give an error message if there were incosistinces in stock data,
now this is the scenario:
after doing an external maintenance order and creating a PO with reference to the maintenance order PR, and also entering the specified serial number in the PO:
1) Goods Issuing: i used MB1B with movement type 541 and as the serial number already exist and not wrong so it didnt show any error messages and by checking the stock data in MMBE the material was in stock provided to vendor.
2) Goods Receipt: when using MB01 with movement type 101 and when entering the serial number of the material it gives an error message ALTHOUGH it is the same serial number issued and the same serial number in the PO
This is the error message :
Stock data of serial number G081 not suitable for movement
Message no. IO231
Diagnosis
The current stock information for the serial number G081 contradicts the stock information of the movement to be posted. The following stock information is valid for the document and the serial number: Batch Number Stock data Serial data C2
Only the first different field for the stock data/serial data is assigned. However, further data may also be inconsistent. To determine whether this is the case, you can start an analysis.
System Response
Two system responses are possible (set using Customizing): If the case of an error occurring, the assignment of the serial number to this posting procedure is not possible. In the case of a warning, you can, if necessary, transfer the notification.
Procedure
Assign a serial number which corresponds in your stock information to the stock data of the posting. You can display the serial numbers which can be used using Select serial numbers.

Hello,
A possibility to fix serial number status is by running the report RISTEQ07 in SE38 transaction. Please run this report as mentioned in the SAP Note 316868 (point 2).
While running the report please consider following points:
The report does not set any locks on the records to be corrected, in other words, the report should only then be executed in the correction mode if the master records (within the client) are not being used in another (changing) access.
During the search for inconsistent serial numbers, the system assumes that the stock segment is correct and the existence indicator might be incorrect.
In the correction mode, the existence indicator is adjusted (depending on the existence of the stock segment).
The report provides a test option (LP_TEST); if this option is active, the system only checks whether inconsistencies exist. Corrections are only carried out if the test mode is deactivated. Option LP_EXTD for the enhanced check should remain deactivated for the first run. In particular, if no inconsistency is recognized, the run should be repeated with the activated option.
Another possibility is to create/post a physical inventory document for the affected material and serial number.
Determine which material serial number is really on stock (physically on stock). You can do this, by either analyzing the history of each Serial Number or by carrying out a physical inventory.
Before posting the Physical Inventory the stock validation of the serial number profile of the material has to be switched off in OIS2 transaction (if it is switched on).
When you do this, you will get a Pop-up, please read the long text and execute the report RISERNR9 which is mentioned there.
After executing this report the inventory can be posted. When this is done please switch stock validation on again and execute report RISERNR9 again.
Perform this inconsistency correction only when you are sure that no one else is working on the system otherwise it could lead to more inconsistencies while the stock validation is switched off. Check SAP Note 612132 for further details.
In another words, you have to:
Create a physical inventory in MI01 transaction;
Enter a counted quantity in MI04 transaction;
Define each serial number to each qty on stock.

Find your serial number quickly
You can activate software without following up and registering it... at least that was the case in the past. The serial number is normally located on the disc case or a box inside the main box. If you did not purchase the disc from Adobe then it is possible you would have dealt with a redemption code, in which case it would have been up to you to keep a record of the serial number, especially if you did not follow up and register the software.
