DVD Build and burn

Hello,
I'm getting an error message "Power Calibration error, (0x73, 0x3) when a attempt a build and burn. Can anyone help?
Thanx,
John

That's the (completely undecipherable) error code that means "I don't like the media that I'm being fed!"
Would this happen to be from a fresh batch of blank DVD-Rs? Maybe a brand you haven't used before? (Though to be honest, I've sometimes gotten this error even when using a brand that I've previously had success with, I chalk it up to different vendors)
If this happens for more than 2-3 discs in a spindle, you might want to try another brand of media.

  • DVDSP Build and Burn Error message

I am new to DVD Studio Pro and came across a problem during the build and burn process.
When I try to build/format or build, I get an error message that says:
Language codes for "English" and "English-2" must differ. Build cancelled.
I am not sure what to do. Does any one know what this means?
    Thanks

You made another language by mistake. Go to to the bottom of the outline and delete "English-2" and re-build.

  • ??Corrected subtitles won't build and burn????

I have corrected the spelling of some subtitles in an Encore project which appear correctly in the Preview but show up as the old version when I build and burn the project on DVD. Any ideas as to how to fix this? Is there a transcoded file i need to delete somewhere? Thanks!!!!

    Welcome to the forum.
I recall similar happening in the past, but my memory is hazy now. IIRC, one only had to go to one Sub-title, change the font, and then change it back. It seems that cleared things up.
If not, I would clean the Media Cache, especially if the Timelines have been Transcoded with the old Sub-titles.
Good luck, and I'll see if I can find the old threads (might have been before the forum changeover, and would then likely be lost forever), and check my feeble memory.

  • How to build and burn a dual layer disc

I know that this is probably a amateur question, but this is my first time trying to build and burn a dual layer disc in DVD studio pro 4. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks....Chadwick

A good start would be to describe your project (one big movie? lots of smaller movies?), your hardware (internal DL burner? external? what brand?), and any problems you might be having.
Depending on those things, building/burning a DL project could be as easy as doing a single-layer one.

  • Build and Burn won't start

My movie is finished and works perfectly in the simulator. I'm ready to build and burn and the encoding progress bar remains at 0% complete for hours until it spits out the DVD and gives up.
The only thing I can see that might be affecting the build is one of my assests in the asset window has a status of yellow. It is an .aiff and when I click on it, it comes up in the main window and starts playing with out a problem.
Any ideas? I've built and burned other movies with no problem, so I don't know what's going on.

    Sarah:
    I just did a test.
Opened DVD SP 4, and imported an aiff file that was 20+ minutes long. It immediately turned to green.
Have you encoded that audio at 48/16 stereo? Or something else?
Have you tried comverting it to an ac3 file with a.pack or compressor 2?

  • DVD Rendering and Burning: differences between Premiere Pro and Premiere Elements

I am landscape photogapher and wish to either create slide shows in Premerie or import them to Premiere  from H264 1080 quicktime files generated by Ligthroom 3.  I do not do frame by frame video editing.  My only goal in using Premiere is to be able to render and/or burn DVD's and eventually Bluetooh compatible DVD's for play back on commercial flat panel TV's, e.g., Samsung flat panel dvd's.
Are the DVD rendering and burning capablity of Pemiere CS5 Pro and Premiere 9 Elements equivalent , i.e, are that both as likely to produce DVD's that render with natural color on commercial flat panel TV's?
My prior experience is that my Lightroom generated 1080, H264 quicktime movies  have perfectly natural color on Mac LCD and other computer monitors but see very over saturated color on commecial flat panel tv's.
Discussions with Adobe tech support folks are contradictory on this matter.

The main differences between the authoring capabilities (the assembly of DVD/BD, navigation and Menus, plus burning) of Encore (the authoring program, that ships and installs with PrPro) and PrE 9 are:
1.) Encore is a full-featured authoring program, offering a lot more power and flexibility, but at the expense of having to do it "by hand," where PrE 9 is very limited in the navigation that can be employed, and it uses Menu Sets for that automation. Though PSD's, like the Menus in Encore, they have many special aspects, that must be considered, when doing any customization.
A.) In Encore, one can create almost all sorts of navigation in the DVD/BD, limited almost exclusively to the limits imposed by the DVD, or BD specs.
B.) PrE 9 will allow Autoplay, with no Menu, or will automatically create Scene Menus, per the Chapter Markers that you add - and that is ALL. There will      be no Into AV material. No Subtiltes. No supplemental Audio streams. Only linear navigation, or no navigation.
C.) Menus for Encore are much more easily customized, where there are some major conventions in those from PrE, that MUST be addressed.
2.) Encore can Burn an Image (ISO) - no Image in PrE, and can Burn a BD to Folder, which cannot be done in PrE - only for DVD.
3.) Encore offers the capability to adjust Layer Breaks for DL discs.
4.) Encore allows one to adjust the Burn speed, and in PrE, one is stuck with the "fastest" based on the speed of the media + the burner
5.) Encore allows output to a Flash delivery with pretty much full navigation.
6.) Encore allows for changes in the Subpicture Highlight Color Sets, and PrE will only do that, with some Menu Set editing.
7.) Encore offers a SlideShow feature, but I feel that it is rudimentary and limited, and assemble mine in PrPro, then go to Encore for authoring.
8.) Encore is a separate program, though interfaces with PrPro with ADL (Adobe Dynamic Link), and is NOT available as a stand-alone any more - only with      PrPro.
There are probably more differences, and some of the above might not make any difference to you. Things can probably be summed up as: Encore = great power and flexibility, but with things being done manually, and PrE lacks the power and flexibility, but is semi-automatic, so probably easier to use on simple Projects.
Good luck, and hope this helps you make the decision,

[Edit] Sorry that some of the formatting for the Outline did not translate well. Gotta' explore the Outline formatting in the editing screen more, 'cause it would probably have fixed things. Sorry about that.

  • Build and format better than to build and burn?

I'm going to be burning 15 copies of 2 different single layer dvds through DVDStudioPro. I've tested both discs in this project and they're ok to burn.
Reading through my reference material, I don't get a clear sense of what to do next. Should I build and format and store the resulting disc image (.img) to somehow burn from in DVDSP?
Or should I just "build" each project and then format and burn the 15 discs one by one?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi..
I just build the project which will creat a TS folder wherever you select and render all the menus etc.
The when you want another copy then just "format" a disk. (i.e. burn the info to a disk)
You could build a disk image and burn a disk image that way.. but I don't think it will save you any time.

  • If I buy PPCC how do I build and burn a DVD from my finished project

I am about to purchase a new IMac for editing on, moving up from my 7 year old Mac Pro running FCS2.
Am I right in saying that Premiere Pro CC does not come with Encore?

    In a sense.
There is no CC version of Encore, however, Creative Cloud subscribers also get full access to the CS6 suite, which does include Encore.

  • Video bit rate too high when try to build and burn.  Audio is AC3

I am trying to burn a dual layer DVD and when I go to build/format the DVD it says that the video bit rate is too high. I am confused by this because this DVD was burned previously without a problem. Changes had to be made to the project and the files were compressed in compressor with the same settings and now they do not work. The audio is AC3 dolby. Is there some setting that needs to be changed in DVDSP? What am I missing here...
I am using FC Studio 2.
    Thanks!
    Natalie

I don't know exactly what the total length of the video is in minutes, but I do know that it is 6.8GB for a dual layer. Probably at least 3 hours. I don't know what the target bit rate is? Is what you are referring is to what the compression I used in compressor?
I am using the setting DVD Best Quality 150 minutes 3.7mbps for video and the AC3 for the audio.
I am recompressing all the videos again just in case there was a problem with one of the compressions. I don't understand why it isn't working this time when none of the settings or compression had changed.
    Thanks!!

  • New iMac 3.06 DVD slow and burning issues

I just unpacked my new iMac 3.06 GHz and upgraded to 10.6.2, first thing I noticed: starting time was slower than my 2.66 GHz "old" iMac, I tried to burn a DVD, same speed 8x and it took twice time or more than my "old" iMac,

  • DVD SP 4.2.1 keeps crashing when I try and burn.

Im working on Mac OSX 10.7.5 & FCP ( 6.0.6). I have all my project files, capture scratch, stored on an 1TB GLYPH external hard drive with 182 GB of free space for burn. I have been able to burn one DVD but now it keeps crashing after 3% of burn. On another web help site I was told to clear off at least 10-15% of free space on drive to process burn which I did, and it worked, ONCE... I have tried to re-boot, un plug, re-plug the external drive which did help with my 1 sucsessful burn but now DVDSP wont' make it past 3% and quits unexpectedly.
    Any thoughts of help?
    Thank You!

Did you encode all the assets outside of DVD SP (in other words, did you bring in m2v files or .mov files?)
There was an issue where letting DVD SP encode will cause stalls in builds and burns.
    Check this thread
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/2960023#2960023
Could be other issues, but this would be something to try (in addition to the other suggestions.)
    Some other questions -
Where is the target for the Build Folder, external or internal?
And you Building and Burning each time, or just Burning from the existing build?  Have you tried building to another hard drive?
Are you burning to the internal Superdrive or external drive?
Could be various things, from drives going bad, to bad connections to the burner etc.
But the first step I would do is to make sure I can make a clean Build.  Then take it from there.

  • Disk Utility won't burn a .cdr image to DVD – why and what do I do?

I've burned DVDs before and I've had success with my MB Pro.  I know the steps and use this support article as a refresher each time to assure I'm following all the steps.  Yesterday and today I've tried to burn 2 different .cdr images made with Disk Utility to blank DVDs without success.  It starts to copy and within less than 2 minutes, I get the message:
"Unable to burn 'xxx.cdr' (The disc can't be burned; it might be incompatible with this disc drive.  Please try a different brand of disc, or try burning at a slower speed.)"
I tried 3 different blank DVDs (they are DVD+Rs 16x|4.7GB), 2 different brands (TDK & Sony) but no success.
What's going on and what do I do to troubleshoot and resolve this problem?
    Thanks!

Neither TDK nor Sony are considered reliable or quality media. Most of us here use Verbatim DVD-R and burn at only 2x or 4x.
