DVD burned with Encore on MacPro will not play in all players

I burned a project with Encore last week using my MacPro's stock DVD burner. I was using Memorex DVD+R disks which I've had mostly success with in the past. I tried the final DVD in 3 players before I considered it the final product, and it worked in all 3...1 high end player and 2 no-names. I went to present the project at a screening the other night and their Sony player would not read the disk (but did read everyone else's)! Luckily I had access to another player, so it wasn't a complete embarrassment, but still unnerving considering I have to make about 60 DVDs next month for a client. Any idea what could have caused this?

The difference between + and - these days should be zero. However, if one format gives you trouble, always try the other.
I've delivered to clients where + was the only format that worked, and I've delivered to clients where - was the only format that worked.
As has been said before, the only way to absolutely ensure maximum compatiblity is to replicate your discs. Obviously that's not prudent in cases like yours. :)

DVD created with Imovie HD & iDVD will not play

Footage transferred and burnt to disk using iDVD One Step DVD will not play using the play button on the DVD player software . You need to select menu twice and then it will work.
This has only started happening recently so I imagine its due to an update of some sort?

I was not using Dual Layer media, was using Maxell discs. I didn't go looking for burn speeds when I tried this version of iDVD. Just was disappointed that the 6 discs I'd burned wouldn't go on the DVD player.
So I certainly will give it a go with the slower burn speed and let you know what happens.

Does the track play correctly in Quicktime Player? If it does then it is an iTunes issue. If it doesn't then it is possible the file was not completely downloaded, or is corrupt.

Try VLC Media Player. It has a reputation for playing just about anything you throw at it.

My iphone 4 is skipping songs and voice control is coming on randomly. I think it is a headphone problem. I used a non-apple set of headphone that do not have a mic and it worked as expected. When I used Apple headphone it skips and voice control turns on. It's annoying.

DVD Drive will not recognize any movie DVD disk in the drive - thus will not play any dvd movies.

HP G71 449WV dvd drive will not recognize any dvd disc that has a movie on it. Will not play movies, keeps saying to insert disc when there is a disc in there. It will recognize a dvd data disc or a blank dvd, it just will not recognize any dvd movies. I've tried the microsoft fix it, downloaded new codecs, using different dvd playback software but none of that works since the drive will not recognize there is even a dvd movie in the drive. Computer is out of warranty.

It appears that you're not able to play movie DVD's in the DVD player in your notebook. I will try to assist you with this.

Also, are these purchased DVD's or burnt DVD's?
Do the movies play in other sources? (DVD player, other PC)

Discs burned from iTunes 10.1 will not play on some Sony CD players

I'm having a problem with 32 bit iTunes 10.1 (on Windows XP sp3) where burned discs will not play on my Sony CDP355 or CDP400 carousel CD players but will play on a Sony CDP455. Discs burned with earlier versions of iTunes used to work fine with these players (I think). Also, these "incompatible" players did not recognize the disc as one containing CD text. In fact, they would not read the disc at all.
My friend running 64 bit iTunes 10.1 on a Windows 7 machine doesn't have this problem with discs she burns. They will play OK on those exact same players.
Burned files seem to play OK on most of my other CD players and I have confirmed the files are CDA format files (not MP3).
I had selected MAXIMUM SPEED, AUDIO and INCLUDE CD TEXT in my burn settings.
Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for this suggestion. I reduced the burn speed to 12X (my burner is 48X maximum) and made another copy. It works just fine. I'll experiment with higher speeds later but for certain the 12X speed solved the problem.

My ipod is not recognised by my computer and will not play at all

My Ipod is jammed, it will not play on its dock or with ear phones. It just says do not disconnect. I tried to plug it into my computer but Itunes will not pick it up. It is being recognised by windows though. I don't know how to solve this problem as it just won't do anything!! Any help or advice greatly appreiciated!

Here's an idea. Switch the hold switch on, then off. Now, hold menu and select untill you see the apple logo, (it should only take 6-10 seconds but if you find nothing happens after a minute, let go).

Installed new version last night. Everything worked fine, songs played after instal. Today, songs will not play. Display shows name of song, time, etc., but song will not start (time stays constant, progress meter does not move). Any ideas?

Just for fun, I shut down, rebooted, and tried again, and now it works fine.

DVDs burned with Encore CS6 won't play in PC/MAC standard player

Wondering what is going on with an issue on Encore CS6 (W8), as it will burn DVDs that work with PowerDVD but not with OS X's default media player or Windows Media Player
Same computer earlier this year with Encore CS5.5 (W7), DVDs would read in WMP as well
No problem with blu-rays

What brand of blank, and what burning speed?
Create an ISO (Encore) or folder on your hard drive (Encore or Premiere Elements) and then use the FREE http://www.imgburn.com/index.php?act=download to write files or folders or ISO to disc for DVD or BluRay (send the author a PayPal donation if you like his program)
Imgburn will read the ACTUAL disc brand from the disc, which is not always the same as the box label (Memorex is notorious for buying "anything" and putting it inside a Memorex box)
When you write to disc with Imgburn, use the SLOWEST possible speed setting, so your burner has the best chance to create "good, well formed" laser burn holes... since no DVD player is required to read a burned disc, having a "good" one from a high quality blank will help

My dvds that are made from iDVD will not play in a standard dvd player. Can anyone help me?*

I am running iDVD v 7.1.2(1158). I used to be able to make dvds that would play in a standard dvd player. As of today I cannot. I do not know what has changed and I do not know what needs to be updated. Can someone assist me?
The dvds that I can make will play from a disk image and they can play perfectly fine in a computer but not in a standard dvd player. I am using an external dvd burner, (The same one have always used) to create the dvds. I am using iDVD to author them.

How did You Export from Video-editing program used ? I prefer
• iMovie HD6 - just drop the movie project icon (NOT iMovie Icon - the PROJECT one) over into iDVD big menu window (avoiding - drop-zones as they are for other tasks)
• iMovie'08 to '11 - Share to MEDIA BROWSER - AND AS MEDIUM - not HD or other resolution as iDVD does a bad downscaling job.
• iMovie'13 (version 10.0.x) - Share as 480p - Import this into iDVD
• FinalCut (Pro or Express) - Export as QuickTime .mov - NO QUICKTIME CONVERSION - IMPORTANT
• Adobe Premiere - I don't know - not tested Yet
• Avid 100 - I don't know - not tested Yet
Cleaning the DVD-burner - If it Burns DVDs OK then that's may be not the problem - But if it only burns CDs OK then either the DVD-burning-laser is dirty or broken.
It is very easy to kill this DVD-laser as it over-heats if one burns several DVDs in a row. I only burn three at a time - then let it cool down for 30 minutes till next batch of three DVDs.

Finder folder with question mark, now will not start at all!!!

Hey guys, I was working in Avid and i opened up Quicktime, all of a sudden i got a crash log. So i restarted, upon restart i got the finder folder with the blinking question mark. I tried restarting with the OS9 cd by holding down the C button, no luck there. So i moved onto the next step, resetting the PRAM, no luck there (just sat on black for numerous minutes until i let up, then the folder came back). Then I moved onto resetting th PMU, now it will not start up at all. I restart, and all i see is a black screen, nothing. Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance.
The machine im workin on is a Powermac G4 (quicksilver), OS9, 1.5 G Ram, machine bases around Avid Editing system

Ok let me clarify this.
1)system crashed restarted and got the folder with the ?
2) tried to boot from the OS 9 CD no luck? it did not boot?
3)reset pram and still the flashing ?
4) Reset the PMU chip and the mac is dead won't start up at all?
a couple of ideas too...
did you press the pmu button more than once?
Check to make sure the power cord is plugged in correctly etc.
Check the Pram battery to see if it might be dead it should read between 3.3v and 3.7v
also try to restart the computer without other devices plugged into it (USB Firewire, keyboard, even monitor.

someone please help me! i just bought my iPod nano yesterday and i have purchased 3 songs thus far, none of which will play at all!! they dont even play on iTunes. te computer asks me to authorize my computer to play the song. i did that but it doesnt seem to be working, and everytime i plug my iPod into the computer, iTunes quits. what am i supposed to do?!!! i can't do anything with my iPod anymore!!

If they won't play on the computer, they won't play on the iPod.
Play the song in iTunes. When it asks you to authorize them, authorize them. Enter your iTunes Music Store account information to authorize your computer to play songs purchased with that account.
Once you get the songs to play on your computer, update your iPod with your computer. You should be able to play the songs on your iPod.

Suddenly, Premiere Pro video project will not play at all

I've been working on several versions of a video project in premiere, and suddenly none on the files will play at all. I'm fairly new to premiere, but all I've ever had to do in the past is make sure the timeline is selected and hit play. Now nothing happens in any of my sequences. I would very much appreciate suggestions.
