DVD Icon not appearing

Hello All
Can anyone tell me why my DVD Icon does not automatically appear on my desktop after shutting my computer down (MBP) with the DVD left in it.
I am having to eject and reinsert the DVD for it to appear back on the screen.
Not a major issue but definitely an annoyance and a curiosity.

Thank you for the responses, but the issue is not upon insertion, as the DVD is already in when I shut down, yet upon rebooting it simply does not always (sometimes it does) appear on the dektop.

Look in the preferences for your Virtual Machine. If that doesn't work then refer to the forums for the Virtual Software you're using.

My brand new back up drive is connected but now time machine has disappeared after working perfectly for a week. - no icon, not appearing as an option to save to - have rebooted everything a few times.

It's not clear whether you were able to do any backups to this drive at all. If not, it's probably not formatted properly. See #5 in Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions for instructions.
If you did get any successful backups, there may be a problem with the drive, or the backups may be corrupted. Try to repair the backups, per #A5 in Time Machine - Troubleshooting.

Why is the iphone icon not appearing on my itunes when I plug it into my computer? I am online, my itunes is up and running, my new phone is plugged in, and for whatever reason the iphone icon that is supposed to appear is not showing up after I plug my phone in.

File Icons Not Appearing in Finder

Over the years I have archived projects on CDs and DVDs. I have always worked on Macs. No PC involvement. I have been doing this since 1987. Over the past couple weeks I have noticed that the icons of files (not folders) on my older disks are not appearing. I am using the latest Mac OS 10.8.3 on a MacBook Pro. However, on a friend's older Mac Pro tower (Intel), running an older OS (10.6.8), the file icons do appear. Also, it seems that all folder icons do appear on both systems. I have searched the Internet for an answer. I have a lot of old files that I currently cannot seem to access because of this issue. Can anyone shed any light on this? I think it may be an OS issue.

I was under the impression that the Disk Level info was the bit that had the problem.
I am not sure why I ended up with that thought as you clearly state it is contents type info such as tiffs and the like you cannot "see" for long.
The Site did help with that.
I dug out a old Mag CD with a game on in.
I do not suffer losing sight of any of the files no matter which view I adopt.
It lists the Mac OS Standard as the format and the Roman encoding your Video and pics show.
(Strangely it says it was Modified and the date is before the listed Modified dates of the files and folder it contains).
I don't have any self created disks from that time to test.
I am at a loss myself now.
Sometimes, as in my Pic, the Applications that were written for OS 9 (Classic era) and earlier have the no entry sign over them.
Other times the items will show a generic file icon as it has "lost" which app it belongs to. (Which the PRAM reset deals with)
Your files clearly show the icons of the apps that would normally open them.
Files or folders that are normally hidden don't get counted in Quick Look or other forms of veiwing the contents, such as the lower bar in my pic.
It would appear the OS is reading the Disk properly but then deciding that it is not going to display all of it.
I tried viewing the files on my drive if different views - iCon and Cover Flow for certain - but did not notice any difference in what was presented.
If you have the Disk Open and in the Finder > View Menu > Show View Options and then choose Show Icon Preview do you get to see the tiff files at all ?
I would also try the Size change in the Cover Flow view just to see if it is something about the icon data that is "missing" or being mis-read.
I am clutching at straws at this point.

Reply and forward icons not appearing in mail app when I respond/forward from Gmail

When I reply or forward an email within the iphone mail app, the arrow icons showing I replied or forwarded appear beside the email in my iphone mail app inbox.
When I reply or forward from gmail, these icons do not appear in my iphone mail app. Does show that I have read and flagging/unflagging works.
Any thoughts?

Close out of the mail app, double tap the home button and completely close out of the app.
Then do a reset, no data loss. Hold down the home/sleep button together until you see the apple logo and then release, then wait for the phone to boot back up.
Then check your mail again.

Disk Utility burning issue - DVD icon not removed

Hi,
I just burned a bunch of disk images to DVD. After the first one was done burning, the DVD ejected automatically. But the image of the DVD on the desktop was not ejected. When I had inserted the a new DVD a second DVD icon appeard on the desktop. I tried naming this one the same title, but that was not allowed by Finder. So I clicked on the first DVD icon and command+e'd it. The new DVD and the DVD icon were ejected, but the new DVD's image stayed on the desktop. When I command+e'd the new DVD icon, the DVD drive made an ejecting noise and the icon disappeared.
Is this how this is supposed to work? I assume the burned DVD icons are supposed to eject when the DVD ejects initially.

Sms icon not appearing in N76

I am using N76 from the last 1 year and today i had a strange problem.. I am receiving the messages but the notification is not appearing (means, the icon of envelop on the upper right corner of the screen).
I have to open my inbox after every 10 15 minutes to check whether there are any new messages or not? The message tune is also not beeping.
I've checked the profile and there the tunes are working properly. Also I've reset the mobile to the factory settings but still facing the same proble.
Any one can help please???

Content presenter edit icon not appearing

I am relatively new in this area ....I have an ADF application where i have the UCM connection defined. I expanded the UCM folders in the connection pallette of Jdeveloper and dropped an image from a folder in UCM repository as Content presenter taskflow in my jsff page fragment. The page fragment has the page customizable, panel customizable etc for the customizations. A taskflow comprising that page fragment is dropped on to a jspx page. When i run the page, i could see the image rendered. But when i press control Shift C , i could just see 2 icons (Manage Web content and Refresh) and not Edit icon where i am expecting to select some different image from UCM at runtime?
May be, with site studio region def / templates, this could work. If i go with Site studio in content presenter, i need to create region def, template and data files extra for this requirement. I am expecting something similar like when you drag the content presenter taskflow from resource catalog onto Webcenter portal, it will let you select some image on single content item selection at runtime.
I just want to select some different image from ucm at runtime thru content presenter without site studio. Is this the expected behaviour or the problem could be because of any ucm security.I checked the security group of the content item as public and is in released status. rebuild Index collection.

The Edit icon only appears for HTML content or for a proper data file.
If you just drag and drop an image, the edit will not work and you will not be able to select another image.
If, however you want to select another image in the CP, you don't have to do this in contribution mode (ctrl shif c) but in edit mode (ctrl shift e) and press the edit icon on the content presenter. This will allow you to select another image from UCM.

Icons not appearing

Hi
I am trying to deploy to OAS 10g. I have create a jar files containing all my jpg images and have added this to the jini_archive in the configuration option, but the icons are not appearing.
Is there anywhere in the 10g OAS directory strucuture I can copy these icons so they are picked up? In OC4J I can do this by simply copying the files into the forms\j2ee\formsapp\formsweb directory, but this does not exist on OAS 10g

Boot DVD does not appear in list on Option Restart

Greetings - I am attempting to run Stellar Partition Manager to adjust two partitions on my SSD drive. I have setup a dual boot configuration where 10.6.8 as well as 10.7.2 reside on that SSD drive in two separate partitions. To adjust the partitions I must restart the workstation from a Boot DVD created using that software, however after restarting while holding down the Option Key, the DVD disc does not appear as one of the choices in the bootable drives list. I believe the DVD drive is functioning properly as I routinely use it to read and write discs, including loading software. I have reset the PRAM, but that has had no affect. So far I have not received knowledgable support from Stellar, and have kind of gotten the run-around. I am hoping I can independently work around this issue. Thanks for any thoughts. Scott

According to your description, my understanding is that the Edit web part option disappeared in the list web part.
I recommend to check if the account has permission to edit the web part, please check the permission of the account in Site Permissions and the list permissions.
Please also check if the target audience is set in the web part.

F4 help icon not appearing

Hi All,
I have a date field type DATS in a table control in a screen layout and for that a calendar pops up on pressing F4 but the F4 icon is not visible. Can anyone please guide me on this. Thanks in advance.

Hi,
1) Goto screen painter in change mode and double click on the field for which you want the symbol.
2) Now second pop up will appear where you can change the attributes of the field there select program tab and check the Possible Entries check box as same has to be checked to get the icon with Possible Entries Key has to be either space or 2 as if it is 1 then icon will not appear.
Make it as 2, save and activate the screen and re-run the transaction.
It should work.

"Save As" or Downloaded file Icons not appearing on Desktop or FindeFolders

I've had this on-going problem for weeks now. I thought it was isolated to Microsoft Office tools, and now I'm not so sure. (When I would save attachments from MS Office to my Desktop, they would not appear.)
However, this morning I booted my machine brought up Safari and start surfing . Found a PDF I wanted to read, downloaded it, and no ICON. Spotlight says it's there, and I can open it from Spotlight, but the ICON is STILL not on my desktop.
When I've had this problem before, I could log out/log back in and all the Icons magically appear.
Anyone else having this issue?
This seemed to start having right after I applied the 10.4.10 update. Yes, I've repaired Permissions, etc.

Finder can sometimes be a real sluggard about updating folders, there used to be a nice contextual menu item called Nudge which would force it to update. Unfortunately it no longer works. I tried writing a simple Applescript to force Finder to update but I couldn't get that to work either. It seems especially prone to problems about updating the Desktop, which is one of a number of reasons I tend to not put stuff on the Desktop--I keep a couple of folders on the Desktop for the sorts of files one tends to drop there and put things into those folders instead. Rather than logging out/in you can force the Finder to relaunch, which generally does force an update of the Desktop and folder contents:
1. Hold down the option key and click on the Finder icon in the Dock
2. Select Relaunch from the menu
All open windows will be closed by this action, but at least you don't have to quit your programs. Takes about a second or so.

Why does the CD icon not appear on my desktop?

I just got my new iMac with lion on it - When I insert a CD or my external hard drive in the USB the icons do not appear on the desktop like they did on snow leapord. Any idea how to get the CD and drive Icon's to appear on my desktop?
