I'am stuck, can anyonw help!
thanks a lot!

I've run into this before too.
What ended up happening to me, after literally many months of stress and frustration, for it was a huge project I had worked on for a long time. I simply had to just make a new project. Something within my project settings or files had become corrupt. My first suggestion would be to just start again and see what happened. But if you don't want to, try making sure you don't have any hidden unused tracks or buttons. This will upset and make DVDSP pissy at times. If that isn't it, maybe it is your actual final cut exported file. Ask yourself, did you run it through compressor or not (this is not a necessity, but could potentially help), if not then try burning a dvd with another project all together and see what happens. It might help you narrow down your problems, sort of like a check list. If the other project burns, then it is either your DVDSP project (which is my guess), or it is your final cut file, which means you just export again and try again.
Hope that helps!

  • DVD Studio Pro Burn Problem

I have built a Dual layer single sided disk. Everything in the build works great on the HD however once it is burned to disk parts of the second layer lock up or only play 1 frame every 20 secs.
Does anyone have any idea what causes this?

    How is the disc designed?
One long track? Is the areas where it is skipping near the layer break or in a story? Did you build first then see if there is a valid layer break (a proper chapter selection will be dark black.)
Were these items encoded at a different rate and/or did you A.Pack all the audio?
What type of media (brand + or -R)?

  • DVD Studio Pro burning/ building help

I am attempting to burn a project to DVD fro DVD Studio Pro. I keep getting an error message that build was not complete due to I/O error. I checked my drive to make sure that my firmaware was up to date, and it was. The file is only 3.8G and I am trying to burn to a 4.7GB disc. I am wondering if I made a mistake when importing the assets. My original media came from AVID Express Pro and I exported as a Quicktime Movie. Can anyone help???

Well, we would need to know more about your hardware configuration, but to me it sounds like a classic hardware problem... check all cables and connections, and if you have any way to run diagnostics on your system and/or burner, that might reveal the issue.
    Best of luck!

  • DVD Studio Pro-Burn button not working

Hi there. I have video to hand in for class in like 6 hours so i'm in a tight spot here.
I'm running FCP 5 suite on a macbook pro 2.6 ghz intel duo. I've created my DVD just fine in DVD Studio Pro, but as soon as i hit burn, a dialog box comes up immediately saying "formatting successfull" and an "ok" button. Then nothing happens. it doesnt even prompt me for a disc to burn onto.
Please help if you have any ideas.
    Thank you,
    Rene

    Welcome to the Boards
Quick thing as a workaround to start:
Try to first build the project and see if it is building correctly (open up the folder in Apple DVD Player)
If so try writing to a disc image and burn that as here
    http://www.kenstone.net/fcphomepage/image_to_diskstone.html
Which version of DVD SP are you running? It looks like you may be running a non-Universal Binary version (if it is 4.0.x or lower it is non-Universal)
When you go to the build & format dialog is the burner showing up?
Also seems others ran into this

  • DVD Studio Pro Transitions Problem

Hi, When I try to apply a transition to my slideshow in DVD SPro, only white appears during the transition time. Can anyone give me some insight on what the problem may be.
    Thanks,
    Gankog

I am having the same problem. Have you recently upgraded to Leopard? It worked fine for me until I upgraded. I hope they come up with a fix. I would like to use DVD Studio Pro 3 more, but I don't use it enough to justify upgrading to 4.

  • DVD Studio Pro Burning HVDVD_TS File Disk

I have been having trouble burning a HD DVD from DVD Studio Pro. It continues to burn a data disk with the HVDVD_TS files instead of a DVD with a menu to play in a DVD player. What am I doing wrong?

Don't do this. Why? Because HD DVD lost out to BluRay in the high def DVD wars (like Betamax lost to VHS back in the day).  The only devices that will play those DVDs are Toshiba HD DVD players that have been discontinued for about 4 years. And Macs with Superdrives. That's it.  Regular DVD players won't play them, BluRay players won't play them.
If you want high def DVDs, you're going to have to invest in a BluRay burner, and software that will author BluRay disks, like Toast.  Compressor will author BluRay, to regular DVDs no less (so I hear), but they have to be under 10 min.  And then those will only work in BluRay players.

  • DVD Studio Pro 4 problem

So I set up a DVD with 2 menus and 18 chapters, burned it and it played o my DVD player. BUT, I made an error - the Play button did not play beyond the first chapter. So I tried to fix it. An article on Ken Stone's site suggested making a story for each chapter. I started to do that. The program crashed. Now menus do not work. The buttons, texts, etc  are there ( I see outlines) but contents are invisible unless i double click on them and then if I click elsewhere they go away. i can see the settings in the Inspector and some things show up in Graphical View, but nothing comes up in Simulator. This happens with all files  (I tried starting again).
I trashed prefs etc etc.  I suppose reinstalling program is the next thing.  Any ideas other than that? If the file is corrupt will it corrupt any new installation? I hate to lose everything I did.  what are the PAR files?

I did make  a new project. It had the same problem.
    There is one track.
I set end jump to Main Menu (or Menu 1 as it is called).
We performed maintenance on the Mac, also, but that  did not fix it.
I even tried using a different user: same prob.

  • Dvd studio pro button problem

Hi, i have created my DVD with a menu, and use an arrow default button for each chapter of the DVD.
I have burned on my DVD and i notice a problem. in the menu, when I push a button, all the buttons disappears before the track start to play...
    how to solve that?
    thx a lot

Hi Jonathan, welcome to the discussions.
Yes - you certainly can put buttons over video in a track. It works by using the subtitle stream with start and end markers for the button duration. Look up 'Buttons over video' in the manual.
It is easy to set up, but there are reports of mixed levels of reliability with it.
The 1GB allowance in menus can be doubled if you use 4:3 menus AND 16:9 ones... but later versions of DVDSP allow you to move the menus into different spaces which helps avoid the 1GB limit.
Just so you know, the limit is actually formed because earlier versions of DVDSP insisted on all menus going into a single VOB when the disc is built. A VOB on a DVD can only be 1GB...

  • DVD Studio Pro Slideshow problem

Have created DVD with video track and two slide shows.
Build works fine and plays fine on simulation and built in DVD player
but when I attempt to play it on my Sony DVD player, the video track will play fine and at the end it links to the first slide show with no problem but if I attempt to launch either slide show from the menu, it crashes the player
and gives me an error code (error code says disk is dirty).
I have burned 3 disks and all behave the same.
I have encoded the slideshows as slideshow and converted them to tracks but the result is still the same.
Anyone else encountered a similar problem? Any fixes or work around?
    Thanks for your help
    David

Don't use slideshows. Put your stills together in FCP, etc. There are SO many posts about slideshows with weird problems.
    OR
Try turning your slideshow into a track before you build. There's a button to do it right at the top of the slideshow dialog. This should maybe give you better results.

  • DVD Studio Pro - Burning multiples

I formatted my DVD as instructed by the Apple one to one tech, did the 'burn/format' to burn my first DVD.  Came out great, menu, music, movie in it's entirety. But when I went to burn another and clicked on Burn/Format again a post came up saying 'A Video TS diretory of this project already exists. Choosing reuse will reuse as much of the video content as possible'.  Since that seemed a bit disconcerting, I thought just hitting the burn symbol might work.  Well, it didn't, it only burned portions of the movie with no menu.
How can I duplicate the original?
    Thanks in advance.

Sometimes the computer will remember where you left off on a DVD.  Since this is the exact same as the first one you made it thinks it is the same disc. Try testing DVD's in a DVD player, which is just good practice anyway.

  • Another burn problem (dvd studio pro 3)

have built my project, but when i hit the burn button i just get a message box telling me 'formatting was successful'. why won't it start burning a disc, what am i doing wrong?
    thanks

  • DVD Studio Pro 4.2.2 hangs when I go to burn a project

I was putting together a DVD and had it ready to go. Hit the button to burn and the formatting in progress window came up and started chugging away. I left for 15 minutes. When I got back I had the spinning beach ball and an "Unrecognized Device" error message. I've tried burning a different project that worked a few days ago and got the beach ball again. Also, now I can't open the DVD drawer. I had imported several projects from DVD shortly beforehand, so something I did with Studio Pro has caused this problem.
There were no weird files in the project. One main QT from FCP with chapter markers, 4 short QT (1 with audio) for the buttons, 4 stories so you can play each chapter by itself and return to the secondary menu, 2 menus. Everything worked fine in the simulator. Everything else in SP still works fine, I can start new projects, until I go to burn, then I get an instant beach ball.
    What I've tried:
Deleting render files from the project in the cache
    Repairing permissions
rebooting and holding down mouse  to get the drawer to open, no luck
When I press the eject button I do get the arrow icon on screen, but there is no noise or indication from the tray that anything is going on
I do see the drive in disc utility
DVD player won't let me eject, selection is grayed out
There is a blank disc in tray, so it doesn't show on screen to try dragging to trash
I am using an Intel quad core Mac with Snow Leapord and 12 G RAM, have to update profile
And I'm at a loss as to what to try next. Any ideas?

Seems to me that your DVD burner has died... it happens... The fact that you were using DVD Studio Pro is just a coincidence...  My old iMac and powermac G5 both had their DVD burners replaced.
Do you have AppleCare? Is it still in warranty? If so, take it in...

  • Error burning to LaCie drive from DVD Studio Pro 3...

Whenever I attempt to burn a DVD to my LaCie d2 DVD+-R drive, using DVD Studio Pro 3, I get an 'error #6' and the burn is unsuccessful. At the 'formatting' stage the process hangs up after a couple of minutes and returns an error message with the following text:
"The recording device reported error #6: Power on, reset, or bus device reset occurred. (0x29, 0x00.)"
Has anyone else experienced this? I have used both DVD+R and DVD-R discs. I have used the device on two different G4s--a 733MHz, and a dual-1.25GHz. I have worked with the source files on the hard drive, as well as on an external drive. The size of the project is nowhere near capacity for a DVD.
But the result is always the same: Burn aborted, 'error #6.' I'm at my wit's end. Thanks for any suggestions or insight...

    hey terry
you say you are directly burning from DVDSP to your lacie drive, correct? is it an internal drive? did you recently replace your drive?
if it is, go to "about your mac" on finder and click on "more information".
look at your ATA and or "burner" (something to that effect) and make sure that is "vendor supported" because if it is not, iTunes, DVDSP and iDVD will have problems burning media directly from those apps.
the easiest way to fix this is with "patchburn". it will make your drive compatible or "supported" by able and you will have NO problems buring.
question: do you have another burning program (such as toast)? do you have problems burning from the finder?

  • DVD Studio Pro won't burn disk

I have a DVD Studio Pro file that used to burn without a problem, but now it won't at all. I found all of the files necessary, but when I click the burn button, I get a warning:
The Build Location folder contains a VIDEO_TS folder(standard DVD content).  You must remove the VIDEO_TS folder from the Build Location in order to proceed with Build/Format of a HD DVD project.
I wouldn't know where to find this Build folder anyway. I am not sure what to do at this point.
    Can anyone shed some light?
    I have a 2010 2.66 GHz Macbook Pro Core i7
    Thanks!

Are you trying to build an HD DVD rather than a standard defintion DVD? I've never tried to build an HD DVD... does that format also use the VIDEO_TS structure?
A simple alternative to finding and removing the troublesome VIDEO_TS folder is to select a new location for the build -- an empty folder on your desktop, in your documents folder, wherever.
Or, if the contents and/or design of the disc hasn't changed since the last time you built it, find the current VIDEO_TS folder and use that to burn your disc rather than building it anew.

  • Major Problem with audio from Final Cut to DVd Studio Pro

I am posting this problem again because no further responses have been received regarding my first post. I purchased an MR-HD100 Firestore device from Focus Enhancements. When I use clips from it alone or with other clips created by digitizing from min DV tape on a sequence or timeline the audio works fine in Final Cut. When I import any type of file and believe me I have been trying all kinds of suggestions and wasting almost a dozen DVDs. Whether it be a Final Cut QT file, going straight to compressor and producing an MPEG-2 file and a dolby audio file .ac3 importing them into DVD SP and making the adjustments that MR. Harbsmeier suggested DIAL NORM at -31dbfs and COMPRESSION MODE to NONE, as well as the suggestion to make an aif file with the audio and importing it into DVD SP as well as the video. I get the same result with every try, the clips made with the firestore are so low you cannot hear them. NOTHING WORKS!!!!. And yes I have tried making a DVD with just digitized footage and yes it turned out fine. I called Apple support today and that gentlemen basically told me I am out of warranty so phone help was not available. However, he made a suggestion of changing sequence presets in Final Cut which has now developed into another problem. I have messed up my settings so bad I don't know where I am I can't LOG & CAPTURE in the manner I used to ???? Could someone please advise as to why this problem exists and the correction to resolve it. I do not understand why the audio works fine playing the sequence on the timeline in Final Cut. It plays fine after making a Final Cut QT file. AND it plays fine in simulation mode in DVD Studio Pro. However after you burn a DVD the audio from the firestore clips are not to be heard unless you crank up the speakers or TV to it's maximum level and you can barely make it out. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME Projects are stacking up and was really hoping to go tapeless

Try building the project to your desktop and then open the Video_TS in the Mac DVD player application.
How does it play/sound?  This application is the best way to see and hear how your burned DVD should play vs. just using simulator and burning.
Just to clarify- are you taking your FC QT file into Compressor and creating a MPG-2 and AC3 file or are you bringing your FC QT directly into DSP?
What codec are you exporting from FC? ProRes422, DV, H264?
Open the FC QT in QT and apple+I to see this.
What does it say for audio?
