DW New Feature Request

Hi all.
I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this so please point me onwards if it is not.
I'd like the next version of DW to allow "Put" and "Check In"  to be options when you right-click the tab for the file you are currently working on.
Currently you can only Put or Check In from the object browser.
Why do I want this?
Well, we currently have a set up where we have a production server and we test and develop on our own machines. We disable Check In On Save.
So for any given modification we might have several files open that are all over the place in terms of directory structure and so are all over the place in the object browser.
Once we have tested the modification and are ready to Put or Check In, it takes an irritatingly long time to find each file in the object browser and Put or Check In there. It would be great to just do it from the design window.
In fact, there are already options for Close All and Close All But This available from the right click on the tab. Put and Put All would be fantastic.
Regards
Neal

  • IPhone new feature request

I don't know where to submit a new feature request, so posting it here. Please refer me to a more appropriate site, if available. Thanks in advance.
iPhone currently allows up to 16 application icons per home screen. With more and more useful apps installed, there are more screens than before and navigating to a particular app icon takes a bit of time. So, it'd be nice if there is an option that allows more than 16 icons per screen (dynamic resizing of icons or a similar feature is requested). That'll allow quicker access to apps and also makes it easy to re-arrange the icons as there'll be fewer screens needed.
    Any comments or suggestions appreciated.

This is indeed the wrong place.

  • Add "New Feature Request/Proposal"

    Hello,
There seems no area for "New Feature Request/Proposal".
Someone may has good ideas of improving Cisco device/software 's function, or want to request for new features.
Could you take a consideration about adding an area/WebPage for it?
    Thanks.

i like the idea and actually if you want to present us a PER you may reach your AM to do so since as someone mentions not all customers are allowed to do so.
the idea of having everyone asking for things they think would be useful would be somewhat troublesome because i know for a fact that many people come to us and ask things like "i have a XX system that can do this, how can i do the same with Cisco?"
in many cases we do not have something near the functionality they want but unfortunately that's the way the product was developed.
in many cases people would ask for something specific to their business and not for something in general. i've seen some questions on things that many people want like pushing a background image in a batch or how to select how to pick-up a specific call and not in FIFO (which will be in our next release) but i've also been asked questions only once and never heard anyone ask the same never again
i don't want anyone to take this the wrong way but you need to understand that this is a business, so we're most concerned on what customers want and some guys that can ask for features may not be customers. i could gather all my friends and ask them to post a request even if they were not going to buy anything and just by taking the amount of petitions it wouldn't work. that's why this kind of requests are done thru Account Managers.
don't get me wrong, i like the idea but making that work thru NetPro would involve as you mention resources to do so, to validate the idea, to count how many support them, see if they could be implemented, etc

  • New feature request: Having the possibility to use different keyboard language on multiple monitors.

I would love to see a new feature to allow the use of different keyboard language on multiple monitors with the same desktop mac.
Ex.: On dual monitor desktop, use english keyboard on the left screen and french keyboard on the right screen.
So I wouldn't have to switch keyboard language all the time!
    Thanks.

You're not speaking to Apple here only other users like yourself.
Your request should be directed to Apple - Mac OS X - Feedback

  • New features request

Usually in software development organizations, there exists a product manager that decides (amongst other things) which new features get added to future releases. I am posting this message in hopes that the Oracle Enterprise Manager product manager monitors this forum. Site summary: five locations, approximately 800 nodes provisioned with a mix of RHEL 4.6, 4.8 and 5.3. Enterprise controller at 2.5.0.1200, hardware all Sun x86: blade, x4100, x4600 and x2200 servers.
We are generally happy with Ops Center, but in order for it to be competitive with other products going forward the following features would help us:
    - the ability to select a large group of discovered assets and provision them all with the same OS profile, specifying IPs to use for each (list or range). this was possible in N1 System Manager, a former Sun product.
    - the ability to re-run an update job on a set of new targets (not just re-run on failed targets). we very frequently run the same set of updates, in a specific order, on groups of nodes - it would be nice to just select new targets and not have to re-add the updates to a new job in addition to selecting new targets
    - be able to specify the order in which local actions are run in updates that contain multiple action scripts. then we could just create one master update script that runs our updates in the right order
    - clean up the blobs left behind on the target after an update (/var/opt/scn/sun/update-agent/blobs); on blades with small esd drives, disk space is an issue
    - the ability to edit an asset and add connectivity that the discovery failed to find (particularly ELOM based machines, where discovery is spotty at best). not just manually declaring the asset and adding GB_x , but editing the discovered asset and adding the mgmtEth if its missing
    - with this many managed assets we cannot enable the summary charts for each node - just too much traffic to the enterprise controller. would be nice if something could be done about this
Assuming I could select 150+ assets and tell Ops Center to deploy the given OS profile on them, then run a single update with actions in the order we require across all of them, the time to re-provision an entire site would drop from well over a month to under a week.
    cheers,
    -phil

    Hi Phil,
These are all excellent requests, thanks for making your wish-list public! I don't work for Oracle, but I'm going to interleave some comments that may help:
    - the ability to select a large group of discovered assets and provision them
all with the same OS profile, specifying IPs to use for each (list or range).
this was possible in N1 System Manager, a former Sun product. This may just boil down to how you selected the assets to provision: I know for sure you can bulk deploy OS images. You see slightly different hostname/IP options depending on if you select a folder of systems, or add many systems to the provision list manually (http://forums.halcyoninc.com/showthread.php?t=314 ).
    - the ability to re-run an update job on a set of new targets (not just
re-run on failed targets). we very frequently run the same set of updates,
in a specific order, on groups of nodes - it would be nice to just select new
targets and not have to re-add the updates to a new job in addition to
selecting new targetsHave you tried creating a new Profile, and specifying all your updates in that single Profile (or do you mean something else)? The Profile can be the single place that records the updates (and their ordering), and you can execute it on-demand and target it to any hosts you want (http://wikis.sun.com/display/EM11gOC1/Updating+from+an+OS+Profile)
    - be able to specify the order in which local actions are run in updates that
contain multiple action scripts. then we could just create one master update
script that runs our updates in the right orderIf you'd prefer that your master script be responsible for deciding what other script get run, you can include those secondary scripts as "Local Config Files", and leave your master script as a "Local Action". Ops Center will put those other "config file" scripts on disk for you, in the paths you specify with the permissions you want... but won't execute them. Which means everything is in place for when your master local-action script gets run at the end of the job: it can decide which other scripts get run and which don't. (http://wikis.sun.com/display/EM11gOC1/About+Local+Content).
    - clean up the blobs left behind on the target after an update
(/var/opt/scn/sun/update-agent/blobs); on blades with small esd drives,
disk space is an issue I believe blobs are left behind intentionally, as a cache (and that's also how you can "simulate" patch jobs in advance)... but you may be able to tune that behaviour. I think the amount of disk space Agents use as a cache is configurable: ask Oracle support for help.

  • Working collection, not necessarilly pinned - New feature request

Do you think this is a useful feature?
Currently when you are working with objects the only way to keep "non-editing" windows is to pin them.
Can this behaviour be extended as a new node that allows you keep a "working collection" of different object types. The method of user operation that I can see is have a context menu on each object in the node, do a right click "Add to working list".
    * Having the ability to add objects maybe from a different schema to the list could be nice. That way the "working collection" is not limited to a connection.
    * If this list of objects can be saved for later reuse, it could make it even more functional.
Is it possible to do this as a customisation/extension?

Have you created an feature request for this on the Exchange? Or identified any existing request that is equivalent? Sounds worthwhile. No I haven't. I was hoping for some community response. It seemed like something some would have requested.
I like your idea of a restore. A ability to restore via a session manager even more powerful (As long as dead/obselete objects and broken connections are managed well).
My suggestion was more inclined towards the "project based working" mentioned by Jim.
I did a little bit of digging around and found this, [Favorites folder to store a collection of objects|http://apex.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=42626:39:3557915450647134::NO::P39_ID:301] : Accepted
Thanks for replying Sue. Any chance "[Favorites folder to store a collection of objects|http://apex.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=42626:39:3557915450647134::NO::P39_ID:301]" would make into version 2.0?

  • New feature request

    Admins of this community,
Is it possible (off course it is) to add a new feature to this community wherein I would be able to add the category I am interested in and upon login to the forum I would see only threads from the categories which are in my preferences?
This will greatly reduce unnecessary load from servers and help users manage their interests.
    Just a thought....

    2nd wish:
When saving functions or package, the default file name should be the name of the function or of the package.
    3rd wsh:
When saving functions or package, the program should remember the saving folder.

Yes, the File|Save As works OK, but what about this

  • New feature Request: Room Correction!

    Hey Creative!
Long time user and devoted fan of your products... remember back in the day when your sound cards had game ports for things like joysticks? I may have just about every generation of your cards made lying around in boxes just collecting dust. I update when you guys make something new.. always have... anyway...
I have a few computers around the house and office/studio- and they are all using the latest soundblaster z-series (z/zx/zxr) products. Unfortunately, I really just dont use a lot of what they are capable of any longer.
I've moved on. Really, all your card is doing for me anymore is create a Dolby Digital signal via TOSlink that I'm decoding with a receiver... I dont even use soundblaster's advanced features like crystalizer or the like any longer because it interferes with the processing I do further down in the signal chain. or At times, I just use the HDMI out on my video card to get full 7.1 out of movie files.. bypassing your card altogether.
Here's why: I use an outboard receiver.
I do this for one reason only: Room correction.
At the computer on which Im writing this ridiculously long post, I'm using the full suite of Audyssey XT32 tools pulled from a 4520ci hooked up to a fleet of active studio monitors and subs producing 11.2 surround. (I know I know.. overkill.. but its awesome. A sound you just have to experience to understand. Elsewhere in the home I use less expensive Onkyo's with Audyssey XT and XT32. I'm just completely sold on room correction as a supplement to speaker selection and room treatment for audio enjoyment.)
Point is... I have wildly expensive receivers on my racks that do nothing but process digital audio streams and do room correction. That's it. They do this fabulously, mind you; but I can't help but think Creative would be VERY good at doing this, too. at a fraction of the expense.
You guys already make a card that uses excellent DSP chips... why not add another dedicated to correction routines?
you are expert at room emulation and sound manipulation processing... why not use this expertise and use it to create room correction?
you already have mic ports... let's put 'em to use!
You make excellent software and have proven the ability to guide users in getting better sound quality... lets take it to the next level!
This kind of stuff is selling like crazy in the HT market...
I just can't see why Creative and Soundblaster can't get in on the fun.
Software implementations are too niche, hopelessly expensive, and fairly buggy in execution.
Even if you were to license basic room EQ implementations from a company like Audyssey or Dirac, the demand is out there. Just check the HT forums, the sound mixing forums...
It would be awesome to have a fully scaleable sound card from Soundblaster with this feature set: 2.0 sound all the way to 11.2 (or more) with expansion cards or whatever. Even a breakout box with RCA and/or XLR's for the serious audio nutjobs like myself... with all channels hardware corrected for room abnormalities...
Something like this would eliminate $1k's from setups like mine everywhere... and I'd like to see you guys wipe the floor with these other guys with what you could come up with.
    Finally, Dolby Atmos/ Auro3d / DTS NEO:X / DTS MDA....
these formats feature higher channel counts and- in two of those examples, object-based surround...
The need for assistance in getting the most out of imperfect rooms imperfect speaker combinations is going to make room correction more and more the minimum expectation from consumers. Even in the PC market.
I'd love to see room correction and these next-gen formats supported.
    Thoughts?

    Hello OMG,
Welcome to the Creative Forums and much thanks for your years of continued support! It would be amazing if you could share a photo of your extensive collection of Sound Blasters here - I'm pretty sure the original team would love to see that and take a trip down memory lane for a couple of moments.
Through the years, technology change and people's lifestyle and tastes change. That's not to say that some of the previous features and functions are dated. They were awesome features and tools for its time back then. But as you've rightly mentioned, we have to move on as well. Different strokes for different people.
Will we ever see room correction back into the cards? I don't know and I'm unable to comment. I shall leave this for the team to consider.
Thanks once again for your support.
    Cheers,
    Colin-CL

  • New feature request -- more flexibility in file management

I'm new to iPhoto and hope someone can help.
I have a large, existing image database (5000+) that I'd like to migrate into iPhoto. I have an established organizational flow where I use a third-party utility to rename my files using the EXIF date as YYYY.MM.DD_000X.JPG (where "X" is a serial number than is incremented automatically). The photos are then organized into a Finder folder hierarchy using YYYY/MM.
If in Preferences I check "Copy files to iPhoto library folder" then iPhoto copies all my files to the "iPhoto Library" folder, doubling the disk space consumed. That's a substantial percentage of my Mac Mini's hard drive capacity! Worse, iPhoto arbitrarily organizes the imported files into year 2000 and year 2005 folders, without creating folders for 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, or 2006. So if I import additional images in the future I have no control over how it will be organized in the Finder. My organizational scheme and workflow are hosed!
If in Preferences I UNcheck "Copy files to iPhoto library folder" then I lose other necessary functionality. For example, if I delete a file in iPhoto the actual file WON'T be deleted from the disk (even after "Emptying the Trash" in iPhoto). I verified this several times. The file structure on the disk and iPhoto's library will get out of synch unless I manually delete in both places, which is unmanageable if you delete a lot of photos! It also wastes disk space.
Can't Apple simply add a "Monitor folders" feature like Photoshop Elements and many other programs have which automatically detects when files are added or deleted from the directory structure the library points to? This would be soooo much better than forcing iPhoto users to live with the kind of frustrating trade-offs described above.
iPhoto is the 3rd or 4th image editing program I've tried over the years. I WANT to like iPhoto because I really like my Mac Mini, but the reality is I may at some point want to move on to something better. If I use iPhoto it appears I either have to live with losing control of my organizational structure or losing basic functionality like having photos deleted from the disk.
Am I missing something here? Is there a workaround so that I can get what I want from iPhoto?
    Thanks!
    Phil
Mac Mini Dual Core   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

    Hi Phil
    Welcome to the iPhoto discussions.
First thing to remember is that everything you want to do, all the organisation takes place within the iPhoto window. Ignore what goes on in the iPhoto Library folder, you simply never, ever have to do any work in there. In fact it is strongly recommended that you never touch or change anything there as it will profoundly affect the running of the app.
Given the above, you can import your pics into iPhoto and then Trash your originals. Yes, once you are happy that iPhoto has taken all the pics in, you can throw away your originals, this eliminates the problem of the doubled-up disk space. But, you may ask, what if I want to keep my originals. iPhoto does this for you. If you edit or alter a pic in iPhoto you can always revert to the original as iPhoto keeps the original.
<<So if I import additional images in the future I have no control over how it will be organized in the Finder. My organizational scheme and workflow are hosed!>>
Yes it is, totally done for - because you are not organising the pics in the finder any more, you're organising them in iPhoto.
You can organise pics in just about any way imaginable in iPhoto: by date, by time, by keyword, by ratings by a combination of them all. Want to find the pics taken in June 2003, no problem. Want to find only the pics of your dog taken in June 2003? No problem if you use keywords. Want to find all the pics of your dog that don't have your cat taken any month in 2003 except June? You get the picture.
Drag a folder of pics to the Source pane in iPhoto, it will create an album. You can recreate you current system in iPhoto quite easily, and then improve upon it. Keywords are particularly powerful, as are smart albums. I have a library of over 8,000 pics, and as I import them I add keywords. With a smart album I can find every pic of my daughter that I have, and as I add more they get added to the smart album automatically.
You can still continue to rename your files in whatever way is meaningful to you prior to importing. That doesn't have to change. Just do it prior to importing to iPhoto. The you can use Spotlight to find a pic called 2003.10.23_004.
Or you can just drag it from the iPhoto window to your desktop and it makes a copy - your original is still safe. You can e-mail pics from within iPhoto and so on.
The most important thing to remember is that your organisation is done within iPhoto. It does the heavy lifting.
If anything I've said is unclear, don't hesitate to come back and ask more.
    Regards
    TD

    Hi,
It would be real good if some (if not all) of the discussion forums were available through a news reader via the NNTP protocol.
Reading forums with e.g. Mozilla News would be fast and nice experience.
NNTP protocol allows for user authentication, so it is implementable for news server access.
It would be real good to provide interface between WEB and NNTP variants (e.g. each web page to have a

  • AppStore- new feature request

It would be very nice to have a Shopping List or Wishlist for items that might be nice as a future purchase

I really am surprised Apple has no "Add to wishlist" functionality within the App store apps (on an iOS device; iPad/iPhone/iPodT)... I would think they'd want us to choose stuff to buy either now or later. In fact, there's many times someone recommends an app to me and I would have loved to "bookmark" the app by adding to a wish list.
The Mac App Store doesn't have this feature as well, and I wonder if internally Apple knows if conversion rates are better by not having a wish list feature.
