DW to create Word sigs with embedded images?

This may be a bit off topic, but I've tried in many other
places....
Microsoft Word can be such crap. I simply wanted to create an
email sig with an embedded graphic, but Word screws up in wonderful
ways.
I need a very simple html file with some formatted text and
en embedded graphic, so I thought I'd use DW (I use 2004). What I
don't understand is stuff about CID's. When you use Word as an html
editor for Outlook, if things work OK then you can embed a graphic,
and the html will point to an image source as a CID which I guess
means the data is embedded in the mime stream. Can I accomplish
this in DW? Whenever I try my image source points to a local file
which is obviously no good. I don't want it pointing to an image on
my server either. Any clues??
Thanks
James

  • Importing MS Word docs with embedded images

    When displaying imported documents with images directly embedded in the header as a watermark, SO8 displays only the frame but no image.
    Saving the document (.doc) without changes & re-opening with word, the same effect is seen in word.
    I understand I could delete the empty image frames & replace with a page background image, however this would prevent us migrating to SO, as our company has too many documents for this to be practical.
    Does anyone know of a workaround to correctly import / convert the documents ?

    Hi Ron
    I don't know if there's a solution that will allow you to
    import the diagrams, but if not then you could recapture the
    existing diagrams (i.e. as screen-grabs of the Word document) using
    something like SnagIt.

  • Creating html sig with embedded gif

    Hi all, I'm trying to create an html sig for mail, with an embedded gif but am having no success. I do the whole save as archive from safari and give the name of existing temp sig created from mail; and it appears in my mail app correctly except for the gif is missing. I know the gif is embedded in the webarchive, because if I open it with safari I can see the gif (even after I've wiped the original gif from my harddisk to test).
    So it seems just a case of not being embedded into the mail app. This is such a simple task with outlook or entourage but its been drivin me crazy with apple mail. I know its possible because I had it working in mail a while ago (before I switched to enrouage). I remember having the same problems back then, but I somehow fixed it. Now I can't remember what I did and its drivin me nuts!

    Make sute the animated GIF is in a slice of its own, and that the slice is set up to export as an animated gif. You can do the latter in the Optimize panel.

  • Using Pages with iOS. How do I reduce image file size when I create a document with embedded images?

    Hi,
    I have created an annual family news letter in Pages on my iPad which incorporates pictures of events, holidays, occasions etc etc. I've then gone to covert it to pdf with the intention of sharing it via email but get a warning message about the resulting file size (in this case 16Mb).
    Is there any way of reducing the file size - which is obviously being driven by the images?  The pics are being pulled in from the iPad photo library.
    Thanks Mike

    (1) you are asking about Pages for iOS in a forum dedicated to Pages for OSX.
    Most of us aren't using Pages for iOS so it would be more efficient to ask in the forum dedicated to iWork for iOS (at this time this discussion area isn't divided in three areas).
    https://discussions.apple.com/community/app_store/iwork_for_ios
    (2) As you understood why your file is huge, the answer is simple : reduce the size of your picture files before inserting them in Pages documents.
    Drop the unneeded areas, reduce the resolution in tools dedicated to image processing before inserting them.

  • Word 2010 with Embedded Excel table becomes oversized for RDP users

    I originally asked this question on the SharePoint Online forums as this was the first time we've seen this issue. Original Post
    Summarized: we have a Word template with embedded Excel table created in SharePoint Online, and when a RDP user opens it, the document correctly opens in the local version of Word 2010 (not Word Online).   When the table is edited, it becomes
    larger to the point you can no longer view the entire table.
    We have done some testing with Word 2010 outside of RDP and everything works correctly, the embedded Excel table doesn't become oversized and works as expected.  It seems to definitely be an issue with RDP and I've been looking for any assistance
    on resolving this issue.  I recently did some further testing and found that the only time the table becomes oversized and not view-able is when you copy and paste information from an existing 2003 Excel document.  I would think this is the issue,
    but it doesn't happen when working with Word and SharePoint outside of an RDP environment.
    The template is a .docx file. All RDP users are in a 2008 R2 environment.

    I did some testing over the weekend and the simple answer to your question - Not always.
    I found 2 variables which seem to cause this to happen:
    1) We have 2 TS servers - one with IE 9, which remains to maintain support for a legacy app which will not work with IE 10 or 11, and one with IE 10.
    2) Screen resolution of the client computer - it seemed that systems with video configurations which could not exceed the maximum of 1280x1024 (the same screen resolution as our TS servers) didn't experience the issue.  There were some laptops
    and higher end systems with widescreen monitors, where this was an issue.  They typically didn't have a 1280x1024 option; yet even if they did they would experience the same issue, just not as pronounced.
    It also seems to only occur when a user copies and pastes information from Excel 2010 into the embedded Excel table in Word 2010.  Again, only within RDP.  On those client computers which had the problem, I could perform the same function outside
    of RDP without any problems.  However, this is not an ideal format for the chefs as they will frequently be moving between different systems during the day.

  • Word files with embedded pdf's

    How does one convert a word doc with embedded pdf's to pdf and preserve the embedded files as active files using Acorbat 8 Pro?

    Cannot be done.

  • Cannot search file content on Word document with embedded Excel table

    Cannot search file content on Word document with embedded Excel table. I have Windows 8.1 64-bit and Office 2010 Professional. Only phrases from within Excel tables are not searchable. I have many Word documents with embedded Excel table.
    I use it for my invoices. Those invoices are converted to pdf to be sent via mail. Searching the same phrases in related pdf files Works fine. And yes, folders are indexed, searching service is active......... For example I can find all invoices that have
    specific address or name, which is located in word document, but cannot find invoices with specific item name or price, being that information is in embedded Excel table. (not linked, embedded). I thought that is a question for Windows forum, but guys directed
    me here on Office forum. To clarify, I do not use Ctrl+F inside some document, but Windows Search in my folders. Probably the same happens in Office 2013.
    Thank you.

    Hi, I have a lot of Word documents (invoices, offers). Main part of those documents is embedded Excel file because it is easier to do mathematics in Excel than in Word. There are columns with description, unit price, quantity, taxes... Now, I need
    to find who bought HP switch 2530-24G last year. I open folder with last year invoices and search "2530". Cannot find any. But if that document was converted to pdf for mail, than I can find that phrase. Windows search does not work for content if the content
    is in embedded file.

  • ORA-02348: cannot create VARRAY column with embedded LOB

    Hi
    This error message I get when I try to create a table from my schema file which has a (sub-) element of type CLOB.
    In my XML document I have an element which needs to become declared a CLOB (because it's > 4000 bytes), in my Schema I define it's element node like:
    <xs:element name="MocovuState" xdb:SQLType="CLOB">
    I can register this Schema file but when I create the table, I get the error:
    ORA-02348: cannot create VARRAY column with embedded LOB
    Does anybody know how to handle this ?
    Marcel

    You need to use the xdb:storeVarrayAsTable="true" schema annotation so that unbounded elements are created at schema registration time as nested tables. Varrays can not contain CLOBs/BLOBS. Use the schema annotation xdb:SQLType="CLOB" to tell Oracle XMLDB to use CLOB storage for the element. See your schema below:
    P.S. XMLSPY is invaluable as it supports Oracle XML Schema annotations.

  • Mail problem with embedded images and links

    Since Yosemite Apple Mail seems to have a problem with images that are used as a hyperlink to a website.
    While links are clickable with external loaded images work fine, links with embedded images just do not anything. Clicking on them selects them, a double-click opens the image in Preview.
    This works:
    <a href="https://www.google.de"><img src="https://www.google.de/images/srpr/logo11w.png" alt="Google Logo"></a>
    This does not work:
    <a href="https://www.google.de"><img src="cid:logo_google" alt="Google Logo"></a>
    Can you reproduce this problem?
    We tried it with OS X 10.10.1 and 10.10.2

    After a bit of digging around I think I have found the reason for the EO being called prior to the CO. In the parent page CO, there is a transaction commit (oapagecontext.getApplicationModule(oawebbean).getTransaction().commit();).
    Therefore, I assume that as my custom AM is a child of standard AM where the transaction is being commit, the child AM is sharing the same transaction/session and hence the EO being called.
    I am running into issues with moving the validation to the EO as the validation requires visibility of the VO values to calculate a total value. Therefore is there a way to ensure that my custom AM maintains a separate database session/transaction to the parent/standard AM? Is it possible to break the parent/child relationship?
    This way I assume that the commit issued by the parent page CO will not affect my custom AM/EO.
    Cheers.
    Jon.

  • Why can't I forward emails I receive with embedded images?

    I have an iPad 2 and it seemed like I was able to forward emails with embedded images in the past, but now it never works. In fact, I've tried emailing directly from Photos and I have the same problem. No one gets any of my attachments or images. I've updated the operating system to the most recent version and it's made no difference.
    And to make it even more frustrating, when I check my sent messages, the images are there!

    Are you sure that you've set up an account that will automatically delete the messages? Is it a POP or IMAP account? I had a .mac account years ago running Entourage, but never had a problem. For some reason it seems that the server is not deleting your messages upon quit (or however Mail handles it). Maybe we'll just bump this up and see what kind of response you get from those with .me accounts running Mail.
    What version of Office do you have? I'm pretty sure that 2004 was a PPC suite and won't run on your new MBP. If you had 2008 on your PB, then you should just have to re-enter your activation key.
    Good luck,

  • Placing word documents with embedded metafiles

    Hello,
    I have a Word document with Windows Metafile embedded pictures (with .EPS extensions). The pictures are math formulas, and I am not sure what tool they were created with.
    I open the document with Word 2010. I tried saving the document in both doc and docx format before placing in InDesign. But with ether format the following issue persists.
    The embedded metafile images look fine in Word, however after placing them in InDesign, the individual elements and clipping paths inside the embedded metafile images change their relative to each other positions, so the formulas start looking very wrong – individual symbols collide and/or get clipped.
    Why is this happening? Is there a way to work around this issue?
    I am on Windows 7 and InDesign CS 6.0.
    Thank you

    According to the author, the metafiles were placed in Word 2003 as ‘mathematical equation 3.0’ objects. I tried opening these with MathType 6.9 but it is able to open only a very small subset of the many equations in the document.
    I emailed Design Science for their opinion, but I am afraid that something similar to what is described in the article ‘Equations have become non-editable “pictures” in Microsoft Word’ may have happened to the documents I am working on.
    Here is the article:
    http://www.dessci.com/en/support/mathtype/tsn/tsn103.htm
    The frustrating part is that equations look all right in Word, or when exported from Word to PDF. But the way Adobe reads WMF metafiles, they get messed up.
    One such difference – Empty instead of Auto kerning is described in the following thread:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/5330174#5330174
    But this is not the only issue. For some metafiles, blindly setting all kerning to auto messes them up. Some other metafiles exhibit bizarre vertical positioning of elements and/or shifts of clipping paths. The combination of these issues makes it very complex to write one-fits-all script to ‘fix’ the metafiles automatically.
    It appears I need to find the appropriate Microsoft libraries to correctly load WMF files into some intermediate vector format, matching Microsoft Word rendering exactly, and then export into EPS or something else that InDesign is capable of processing without repositioning elements.
    Any ideas what these libraries may be?
    Thank you

  • How can I programatically identify PDF files with embedded images?

    Our company has 27,266,949 .PDF files that we're planning to compress in order to save server space.
    We don't want to compress any of the .PDF files that have embedded images as to not alter the image's state.
    How can we programatically create a list to exclude from the compression process?

    Ah, see told you we were new to this and no, my taxs already have enough digits to the balance.
    Ok, so based on that, we should be able to use the preflighting tool to identify the PDF’s with images, factor them out, and then continue with lossless compression on the remaining balance.
    That will give us the compression we need to save space, but also allow us to stand in the court of law (if the scenario was to ever occur) and proclaim that none of our medical images have ever been altered by compression.
    Sound like a reasonable plan?

    <!--- Do not set the height of the RichEditableText - since it seems to prevent the appearance of the vertical scroll bars -->

    </s:Scroller>
    With the following Actionscript to initialize, etc.
                textContainer = new SxBorderContainer(name);
                textContainer.dx = dxAvailable;
                textContainer.dy = dyAvailable;
    scroller = new SxScroller();
    scroller.move(dxPadding,dyPadding);
    scroller.dx = dxAvailable
    scroller.dy = dyAvailable;
    textContainer.addElement(scroller);
    var richText:RichEditableText;
    richText = scroller.richText;
    richText.toolTip = toolTip;
    richText.enabled = true; // required for mouse click capture
    richText.selectable = true; // required for mouse click capture
    richText.width = dxAvailable
         var textFlow:TextFlow = TextFlowUtil.importFromString(textFlowString, WhiteSpaceCollapse.PRESERVE);
          richText.textFlow = textFlow;
    And the following code to catch events:
                    richText.addEventListener(FlowElementMouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN,userMouseEvent);
                    richText.addEventListener(FlowElementMouseEvent.MOUSE_UP,userMouseEvent);
                    richText.addEventListener(FlowElementMouseEvent.CLICK,userMouseEvent);
    Here's the problem.   If I have embedded images in the TextFlow that is imported into the richText, I only catch "some" mouse clicks.  It's hard to know, but it seems that only mouse clicks into white space (between paragraphs) are caught.  Mouse up and down are caught, but not "click".  Very puzzling.
    TextFlow like this:
        <TextFlow>
          <div color="#442222" fontFamily="Times New Roman" fontSize="20" paragraphSpaceAfter="15" textIndent="15">
            <p>

                Alice was beginning to get very tired of sitting by her sister on the bank, and of having nothing to do:  once or twice she had peeped into the book her sister was reading, but it had no pictures or conversations in it, `and what is the use of a book,' thought Alice `without pictures or conversation?'
              </span>
            </p>
            <p>
                  <span>So she was considering in her own mind</span>
                  <img source="assets/library/alice/images/White Rabbit.png" height="auto" width="auto" float="left" />
                   <span> (as well as she could, for the hot day made her feel very sleepy and stupid), whether the pleasure of making a daisy-chain would be worth the trouble of getting up and picking the daisies, when suddenly a White Rabbit with pink eyes ran close by her.</span>
            </p>
    If there are no embedded imags, I get all clicks exactly.
    Is it a bug?  Am I missing something?
    Thanks,
    Oz

    Thanks for the answer. First I need clicks anywhere in the RichEditableText (no links or images). I use the selection manager to find the exact word that was clicked.
    The next step would be to capture clicks on links and images.
    I have tried using MouseEvent and had the same result (or worse) as FlowElementMouseEvent.  I will go back and retest with your suggestion.
    Oz
    Result of retest:
    I catch clicks only over images embedded in the TextFlow.  I catch only mouse up/down over text - both MouseEvent and FlowElementMouseEvent.
    Puzzling.  Where are the clicks going?

  • Font Problem with Embedded Images when making PDFs

    Hello,
    I am revising a document I didn't create which has embedded images. Although all of the fonts are turned on, when I create a PDF, the fonts in the EPS come out as Courier. When I print to my laser printer, the fonts in the EPS come out correctly. This job will eventually be produced as a PDF, so I need to figure this out. Any ideas?
    Thanks.

    We can't spend the time to retrieve the originals and distill them.
    Yes, I understand that. I like to know why things don't work, even if it takes me a few minutes to test things. You don't have to retrieve any originals. Just unembed one from the ID file. I know it doesn't make sense to Distill all your EPS files when printing to PDF is going to take much less time. But if you can ascertain why it's not working, you'll have a better chance to fix it next time.
    If the fonts weren't included in the original EPSs, why do they print to PDF in Franklin Gothic? This is true even in the one page document I sent you that doesn't have any styles.
    They don't...unless you have that exact Franklin Gothic loaded on your system. They print in Courier here.
    Your EPS file references a specific font name. When you print, your print driver matches up that reference with the Franklin Gothic font you have loaded. For reasons that I don't fully understand, when you Export to PDF Indesign is not able to match up the reference to the font the same way your print driver can.
    Obviously, printing to PDF is a good workaround. And make sure you send your printer a PDF, not a live Indesign file.
