Dynamic form saving

Hi,
I'm trying to allow my users to save their forms, but I'm struggling with implementing this through extended rights. I think I've narrowed down the problem to my form being dynamic and making subforms hidden and visible. I've had a quick attempt at certification but ran into a problem with it saying that I had a temporary profile so the certificate could not be validated.
Am I doing something wrong or am I using the wrong method?
Any help anyone can give would be greatly appreciated as I think I am currently losing the plot!

I have just managed to narrow down the problem and find a workaround, but I haven't found a solution.
It is opening fine locally in Acrobat 9 and Reader 7, but it is coming up with the error in Citrix Reader 7.
Just been able to get it opened in Citrix Reader 8 (same infrastructure, different icon) and I am not recieving an error message.
So this is either a compatibility issue with Reader 7 on Citrix, or a problem with the configuration of Reader 7 on our Citrix infrastructure.
I'm not sure how to progress this here at the moment as there is a call in to upgrade the Reader version distributed to all users anyway.

I have a dynamic form that I created and I need to get it posted but am having some issues.
1. I need the fields to be optional and it tells me that the information entered is not what was expected
2. I have a button to click that will send the completed form to a department mailbox, but when the form arrives it is a .xml and only contains the newly entered information. What did I do wrong? I saved it as a dynamic pdf.
3. Is there a way to send you my form so that we can talk about it together???

I have working on this since January along with many other projects (mostly presentations) and the department that this form is for is chomping at the bit because they need to track their training requests coming in and are working to shift the process of how you request training for the entire enterprise. I am attaching the form so maybe you can take a peek at the damage I’ve done ☺ I think it would be helpful if I took a class, everything I’ve done I’ve taught myself with trial and tissues!

My dynamic form - issue with saving data (urgent-i would greatly appreciate any help)

I have some problems with this dynamic form (created in livecycle) http://www.pathology.ubc.ca/Academic_Activity_Data_Form_Jan_4_2013.pdf . It doesn't save data unless I add a' new row' to any of these tables.   There are a few text fileds and if I type anything in there data won't be saved unless I trigger it by adding randomly a table row. This is big problem as this form will be used for updates and if I want to change any of my entered records I will always have to remember to 'add a new row' otherwise just adding/changing text won't be saved. This might sound confusing but you will understanding what is going on if you type in your name and save the form and then type in your name, add a table row and save the form (first case won't be saved second will).
I would greatly appreciate any help.

I have used the above DAX function it is working fine and i have applied same for Year , Quarter and Month
But when i remove month filters (Slicer) and Year filters in Power view report
it is showing total Year values for Year and Quarter values
for Quarter etc..
Like below i am getting

With a PDF Dynamic form using show/hide actions, how to ensure that when the completed form is saved, closed and re-opened, the form still show the fields as before it was closed?
I have developed a form with fields hidden by default, that become visible based on box ticked or radio button selections.
My problem is that, when I close the form and re-open it, it comes back to it's default presentation, regardless of the information already recorded in the form (including in the now hidden fields.
How to correct that

I've had the same problem. This solved it...
Go to the "Form properties..." in the File-menu. Select "Run-time" to the left and in the box "Scripting" Preserve scripting changes to form when saved: choose Automatically (Script-based state changes are saved locally in an insecure fashion. This option cannot be used for certified forms).

Saving dynamic forms in Acrobat Reader

How do you create PDF dynamic forms and save them so that they can be completed and saved in Acrobat Reader.

Thank you very much for your help. As I said this was my first attempt with Livecyle. I had sold the concept of dynamic forms to a collegue and promised to do a dynamic form one for him before going on a winter holiday. Completed the form in a hurry only to find I could not enable users with Acrobat Reader. My worry was that I would not be able to save dynamic forms without additional software, but your helpful comments confirm its something I have done that is causing my issue.
I think Livecycle is a great product, but fragmented information is available for individual users. Bought the Book PDF Forms Using LifeCycle Designer (Acrobat 9) and joined PDFscripting web service which are both good in there own way. I get confused with Adobe's help, not being IT techie and the difference of Enterprise Editions of LifeCycle on how to get the best out of LiveCycle.

Problem saving dynamic forms

We created dynamic forms using LiveCycle. The users download them to their local PC and enter data. After they enter data they can initially save the form to their PC. However, after that initial save they have trouble saving the form. For some users they can save the same form five or six times before getting the error message for other users it can happen at the second attempt to save. We have set the form to have no security.
The error message is the following:
This document enabled extended features in Adobe Reader. The document has been changed since it was created and the use of extended features is no longer available. Please contact the author for the original version of this document.

I discovered an answer to this problem, at least in my case...

Dynamic form font color changes after saving

I have a dynamic form that before the user clicks inside a textfield ghost text appearance is set to red once the user starts typing I have an event set to turn the font to black.
The problem is, once form is saved and reopened the font color is red instead of black. How can I get the font color to remain black?
I am thinking that script should be in the PreSave event if so, please provide an example of how it should be written.

for the ghost text (tool tip) I have set an initialize event: (by the way I did choose the color red for the font in the color picker for the tooltip color)

Dynamic forms not saved properly

Hi ,
I have a dynamic forms created using Adobe 8 LC.
After the form is generated thorugh application when I try to save the dynamic pdf using save button in Pdf toolbar, there are null values or extra rows of data being added to the dynamic pdf. The javascript calculations are not being displayed for eg totals .
I am unable to figure what is causing this extra rows to be added in the pdf. When I give a print option to PDF, the dynamic document is printed correctly without any extra rows.

When I insert, I get redirected to a "page not found", but the record gets inserted into the database.
I'm wondering if it is my Managed Site. I keep fumbling around until I get my site working. Currently I have my Local Info, which is my local folder and local IIS HTTP address. I have my Remote Info which is Local/Network Access and my Remote Folder on the LAN. I'm getting confussed with what my Testing Server should be. I have set my Server Model of PHP MySql and Access of Local/Network and the Tesing Server Folder as the same location as my Local Folder. My URL prefix is the same asa my local IIS HTTP address. Does all this look right?
The PHP version is 5.1.6

XML data within dynamic form

Hi,
I'm trying to make a new XML Schema connection inside the form designer, I successfully made the connection and get the data inside my form, but I have only one problem, I have a huge number of records which I decided to make them as a dropdown list, they are about 11000 records, OK, now to the problem which is if I save the form as a static pdf form the list will be filled completely with the data came from the XSD file, and the produced file size is about 3 M, but if I save it as dynamic pdf form, the produced file size is about 400 K, but if I tried to access the dropdown list inside the file, it takes forever to load, without getting any result at the end.
OK, my personal conclusion is that in case of the static forms the data saved inside the pdf file, but in case of the dynamic forms the data is not saved there.
I need to save the file as dynmic pdf because I have a table that needs to add new row accoriding to the user click on a button of (add new row).
So, can any one help me to fix this issue?

Sorry, I found the solution:
when I use the Adobe Reader 8.0.0 or Adobe Acrobat professional 8.0.0
the stuff works normally, but in case of Adobe Reader 8.1.1 or Adobe Acrobat professional 8.1.1 this problem happens,

1- I have a form with dropdown list.
2- I want to populate this dropdown list from XSD file has structure similar to the following:

3- when I made the normal steps of make new connection to XSD file, it walked with me normally without any errors.
4- incase I save this form as static pdf file, then open it with adobe professional, the menu is working smoothly and load the data inside perfectly.
5- incase I sace this form as dynamic pdf file, if I try to open the dropdown list, it takes forever to load the data.

Dynamic form in Mac OS

Hi,
we have created an acrobat dynamic form using Livecycle Designer . We have a web application, where when the user wants to open the form, we prefill some fields in the form and display it in the browser.
Here is how it works,
1. The form was designed using Livecycle Designer .
2. The user clicks on a link and the app server renders the form, with some prefilled data( we maipulate those data into the form using itext ) .
3. The user fills some more information and / or puts a digital signature on the form .
4. There are few buttons ( we have put in the form) , one for printing the form, One for saving the form, one for saving and emailing the form .
5. Depending upon the action ( save or save and email) we save the form in a drive in the server ( the user can request it back to view) or we save and email it to sepcfic email addresses.
But when we access the same form in Mac OS 10.6.8 in safari browser, it opens up outside the application in a new winodw. So whatever action the user takes ( clicing on any button ) , we dont have any control or way to capture that.
So my question is is there a solution for it ? There must be some one worked on it before or have some idea. Please share your thoughts and suggestion on it .

Run Safari in 32bit mode and try to open your form.
We found that few of the features are not working correctly if the Safari runs in 64bit mode.

How to save a completed form that was created as a dynamic form, with expandable files?

I have created a dynamic PDF form with expandable fields etc. As this is to be accessible for customers to completed, how can they save a completed copy on their own PC?
I tried it myself and I receive an error msg stating that I can only save a Blank Copy of this Form: Data typed into this form will not be saved. Adobe Reader can only save a blank copy of this form.
How can I create a dynamic form (with expandable fields/flowable layout etc) that allows the applicant to not only complete the form but also, to save a completed copy?

While the form works in Internet Explorer (I'm using IE11), in that it's viewable, it opens and allows me to save etc) it doesn't work in Google Chrome and I'm getting the below error message:
Any ideas on why it doesn't display in Chrome and does in IE (I'm using the same PC and I'm using Adobe Reader XI)!
there are other PDF forms on site that are not dynamic but are fillable, and these are opening!

Dynamic forms that keep changes?

I am trying to get a dynamic form built that will keep the changes that are made when the file is saved and then opened up again. For example If I have 6 sub forms to begin with and I delete 3 of them and text to others (some of them expand) and save the document then close it I would like to be able to open the document and see only the 3 sub forms there. Instead when I open the document the 3 changed fields in their respective sub forms are as they should be but the other sub forms show up too.
I'm not sure what I need to do to remedy this. Any Ideas anyone?

Extracting data from dynamic forms

I am new to using Livecycle and see the advantages of using dynamic forms for collecting data. I have designed several dynamic forms which include rows with 6 to 9 text fields and may be completed with 10 to 100 rows. I have had to use text fields for collecting numeric information as many of the references start with zeros (003456).
Whilst Acrobat Pro provides for Livecycle dynamic forms to be enabled for Acrobat Reader filling and saving is extracting to Excel the best option available if you do not have the Enerprise version of Livecycle?
One problem I have in using Excel is that whilst the completed PDF documents capture the leading zeros, when I view the Excel spreadsheet the lead zeros have been lost. I have experienced this problem in importing Excel files into Access. To overcome this I usually create five lead rows with characters in all the fields that I want Excel to define as text - otherwise it processes them as numerics.
Any better ways of extracting data from a hundred or so dynamic forms?

Hi,
your problem is not the exported data, it's Excel that drops the leading zeros by default.
You can use a custom pattern to keep the leading zeros.
0#### will display intergers with up to 5 places with a leading zero.

Dynamic Forms with Subforms and Text Fields

I've been reading all of the messages relating to subforms and dynamic forms and have used many of the suggestions, but haven't found anything that addresses the problem I am having. I'm using Designer 7.0. I've saved my form as a dynamic form, I've set my text fields for multiple lines and expand to fit. My problem is that as soon as I set the parent subform to Flow Content, everything moves to the left margin. I've tried grouping items together within a subform in hopes that the items will maintain their position on the page, but everything always moves to the left margin. I'm creating a legal form that needs to have text and a text field centered at the top of the page. Below that to the left is a text field that needs to be able to expand with two text fields to the right of it. Below that are additional text fields that need to expand as needed.
Am "stacking" my subforms incorrectly and setting the wrong subform to Flow Content? Or, can you now lock a field to a specific position? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately, I hadn't understood that you needed the fields to expand in height and everything below them to move down the page. In that case, you'll need to use flowed subforms.
Having all objects move to the left side of the page is expected when setting a subform to flowed. That's because the flow is top-down, left-right.
One thing you could try is making the text field that needs to be centered exactly as wide as the flowed subform and then setting its left- and right-hand margins to an equal number. This would ensure an equal amount of space on the left- and right-hand sides and because the field would be as wide as its flowed container (subform), entering multiple lines of text would result in everything below moving down.
I've attached a sample form where the page subform has been set to flowed, the text field at the top is a multi-line/height-expandable text field with its width set to the page width and its left- and right-hand margins both set to 2in and the button and check box objects are pushed below the text field.
When text is entered into the text field, it expands in height and causes the button and check box to move down.
To achieve other horizontal and vertical positioning/offsets, you could play with the margins of all the fields that need this.

Invisible objects only allowed in dynamic forms?

I have read several times "To hide and show objects at runtime, you must save your form as a dynamic PDF". Yet one of the examples on the LiveCycle Developer Center website demonstrating invisibilty appears to be saved as a static PDF:

Is this "dynamic PDF" simply a recommendation? Can I get away with leaving my form as static? If I must save as dynamic, will anything on my form change?

When I opened the PDF in Designer and looked at Form Properties, on the Defaults tab I saw Acrobat 7 (Static) PDF Form. I took it to mean that the file was Static. I guess that has nothing to do with the document that is currently open despite being in Form Properties.
I see that under the Compatibility tab, it lists Form Type: Acrobat 7 (Dynamic). I guess that is where I tell how the form is saved.
So if I create a static form and then save it as a dynamic form (just to perform the invisibility trick on one object), nothing is really going to change on the rest of my form?
