Dynamic Row Suppression based on grid POV

Hi,
I need to suppress rows based on the grid POV. The report is set up to have accounts in the rows and the user is able to select a specific account in the grid POV. Based on the grid selection, half of the accounts in the rows either need to be suppressed or not.
One solution already available is to use advanced suppression on each row but this option will take too long. I'd like to find a solution using UDA's or some other way. Any ideas?

If I were designing the form based on what you have stated, I would probably stick both Account and Year in the page, and the 400 products in rows. This would require the user to select the different combinations of Year / Account, but would mean only 12 columns (instead of 72).
Alternatively you could stick Account in rows too - meaning 800 rows, but less combinations to select in Page....all depends what is deemed acceptable to the user.
Probably other approaches that may be better than above (put Product in the Page for fun!!)

I have requirement where, user dont want 10 webforms to enter 2 accounts line for various sparse members. Below is the dimension detail and web-form current design

Year - Sparse

Product dim has family1 as parent and 40 level 0 mem like that there are 10 family level 1 members, now to enter account member (only 2 member) for 6 years projection ( it means 12 periods and 6 years in column ) , i can build 10 web-forms with one web-form has one family level-0 mem in rows,
however my question, is how can i achieve this in one web-form, instead of 10 web-forms for 400 products ?
your help is greatly appreciated.

Does User POV Supersedes Grid POV in Hyperion - Financial Reporting ver 9.3

In Hyperion Financial Reporting studio , under grid POV , for a perticular dimension we have selected a perticular member from the list.
Now on the User POV, for the same Dimension it is selected as "any member". Now when we open the FR report in PDF from the same user ID, in POV option we are able to view all members. It looks like User POV settings is superseding the grid POV.
Is there any way by which we can select grid POV to take control over user POV? or if it is possible that users will be able to view the report only based on grid POV?

Have you selected any particular member in Grid POV. ? i.e selecting grid POV and doing member selection.
If you select any member in GRID POV then while running the report it will not ask value for that particular member in POV window. i.e it will always consider the by default member while running the report.

Dynamic header based on the chosen Grid POV

Hello,
I have two grids Grid1 and Grid2. Both the grids have one editable POV and are different from each other. Either of the grids are being hidden based on a flag being input by the user.
I need to display the dimension name and the member name of the chosen Grid POV in a text box in the header. This needs to dynamically change based on the grid being displayed. e.g. If the Grid POV for Grid1 is "X" and for Grid2 is "Y", I need to display "X" when the grid2 is hidden and "Y" when grid1 is hidden. There is no conditional formatting on text boxes in headers. Is there any other way to do this?

Hi Ravi,
yes you can not apply conditional formatting on text boxes.
But it is possible to put the conditional formatting on the grid cell and then you can pick the text from grid cell into text box.

Resulting grid does not contain at least one row, one column and one POV

I have upgraded to 9.3.3 recently.
We have a front end app which will run MDX queries to retrieve data.
Sometimes based on the users selections MDX query might get back nothing i.e will get #missing across all rows/columns and this works fine with the existing 9.3.1 essbase server.
If I run the same query against a 9.3.3 essbase cube I get the error "Resulting grid does not contain at least one row, one column and one POV. If you have any suppress row options selected pls clear them."
I DO NOT have Supress missing data/zero enabled. Not sure why I get this error even though I dont have that option enabled.
Essbase 9.3.3 on HP-UX ITanium 11.31
APS 9.3.3 on win 2003 R2
Smartview 9.3.3 - also tried with smartview 9.3.1.6 and see the same error.
Any suggestions to fix this issues?

The front end is using a VBA command "hypexecutequery" and with 9.3.3 essbase I get a return code -9 which means Operation was cancelled as per the smartview doc.
In 9.3.1 essbase I get the return code 0 which means the query is fine even if it does not return any data.
The query I am using now will return nothing as it is a check to see if there is any data. But with 9.3.3 Essbase I get an error code -9 which looks like it does not like the syntax or something.
Any suggestions?

Dynamic table rows created based on input value

I've been searching the forum for either a tutorial or input
on how to create a table where the number of rows are based on a
user input value. I can't seem to find anything on this.
Here's what I'm trying to do. I have site where people are
charged based on the number of items they register. So if they want
to register 2 items. They would input the number 2 for quanity and
I would display a dynamic table with 2 rows. The user will input
their data for the 2 items and I insert this into an
itemsRegistered table. If they entered 4 I would give them 4 rows
for input. I am using dreamweaver with PHP and MySql database. Can
anyone point me in the right direction. Any help would be

Not exactly. The items are all the same but have a different
registration number (like a serial number). So if the user wants to
register 2 items. They would input the number 2 on the form. Then 2
rows would appear on the table, one for each registration number.
When they finish entering the data it would be inserted into the
database as 2 records.
So for example if item 1 has registration number 10000 and
item 2 has registration number 11000. The registration numbers are
unique. The table would look like this :
CustomerID (links to customer table)
RegistrationID (Unique in this table)
ItemColor
ItemShape

Hiding the locked Grid POV's in HFR

Hello Experts,
I have a HFR report wherein we have two grids and each one is being displayed based on the input for a User point of view provided by the User. e.g. When the user enters "Y" for "Flag" Dimension Grid 1 is being displayed and Grid 2 when the user enters "N". There are many Grid POVs and all the Grid POV's except for one has been locked for both the grids. The unlocked POV's for both the grids are different. e.g. The active Grid POV for Grid 1 is "X" and for Grid 2 is "Y.
How do i hide the locked Grid POV's when i run and view the report in Workspace?
It would be really gr8 if anyone helps me out on this.

Hi Ravi,
The dimensions which one dont specify in the grid row/column/pages, are displayed either as Grid POV or User POV.
So instead of locking that dimesion selection in the grid POV, place that dimension in the grid and then hide the corresponding row/column.

How do I set the value of a dynamic row text field

I have a repeated row form which contains a button and multiple text fields. There is a text field (Input Data Field) further up with some information I want to place in the table and multiple buttons that I want to read the value of and set to the table. I apologize there are multiple questions I have and I am using pseudocode to describe it.
Top form looks like
InputField
| ButtonX1 | ButtonY1 | DescriptionX1 (read only Text Field)

OutputRow looks like

So I would like it to do

from an XML File. I have seen examples of how to build if it is just data, but can the XML be pushed into a form with code to do the above actions?

Each object in a form must have a unique name. I doing so it is not neccessarily the name but the path or SomExpression associated with that object that must be unique. In your case you have a Table.Row.object configuration. The Row is the part that is repeating so to give each object a unique name an instance number is placed on the repeating part. So objects in the 1st row woudl be Table.Row[0].object...objects in the second row woudl be Table.Row[1].object etc .....You can see this by adding a debug instruction on the Enter event of the description field. Put the code app.alert(this.somExpression) and when you enter the field you will see what the somExpression is. Do this for a few rows and you will see the pattern (don't forget to remove the debug code from the enter event). Now you know what you have to use to address the fields. If no instance is given it is assumed to be 0 ..that is why only the 1st row is being affected.
So now to answer your questions:
Question1: The square bracket notation is an issue for javascript (this is the notation for an array) so we have to use a different means of addressing the field to include the instance number. So to address the Description in the 3rd row we woudl use:
xfa.resolveNode("Table.Row[2].Description").rawValue = "This is my new description";
Note that the instance number is 2 for the 3rd row because the instance numbers are 0 based.
Question2. The resolveNode notation allows you to pass a string so you can also concatinate expressions to make the string. If you are writing code on a button in the same row you can get the instance that you are on by using the expression this.parent.index. The "this" portion refers to the current object (the button) and the parent.index gets you th eindex of the Buttons parent. If the button is embedded deeper in a hierarchy then you can continue to add parent indicators until you get back to the node that you want. So rewriting your expression from Q1 it woudl be:
xfa.resolveNode("Table.Row[" + this.parent.index + "].Description").rawValue = "This is my new description";
Question3: The buttons caption can be retrieved by using ButtonName.caption.value.text.value
Question4: When you say build from an XML file. What are you expecting to come from the XML file? The caption that goes on the button? Typically the XML file carries data (not to say that it cannot carry other things). Just need a bit of clarification on this one first.

Webi: unwanted zero rows suppression on BEx selection structure

Hello,
I have a Webi report/universe based on a BEx query having 2 structures: keyfigures in columns, characteristics selection structure in rows. We are still using BO XI 3.1 SP1.
Now: the webi report suppresses the zero rows of the char structure, but we do not want that. in the bex query, there is no active zero rows suppression.
I read in a similar thread about the opposite and that it will be fixed with XI 3.1 SP3:

Question: does anyone know, if "my" case is also solved by SP3? or anyone knows a workaround?
Unfortunately the PDFs XI31_SP3_Fixed_Issues_1of2.pdf and XI31_SP3_Fixed_Issues_2of2.pdf of SAP note 1457545 contain no information about this point.

thanks for the workaround tip!
In BEx query I tried with a calculated keyfigure set to "1" and alternatively with a restricted keyfigure set to "constant selection". Unfortunately, both did not work, the webi report was clocking long after the bex process was finished in BW.
Then I got error WIS 30284 ( universe connection corrupt) and 30285 (no free memory). But maybe we just have an issue with webi server performance.

my requirment is to query a joint tables and get the results then based on the results i need to copy all the data and create an update statement for each row
for ex
the update statement should look like this

The standard advice when (ab)using EXECUTE IMMEDIATE is to compose the SQL statement in a single VARCHAR2 variable
Then print the SQL before passing it to EXECUTE IMMEDIATE.
COPY the statement & PASTE into sqlplus to validate its correctness.

Dynamic Row Creation

I am making a request from an applet for sets of information, and want to display this information as rows of data. A list of addresses could be an example. What I don't know how to do is how to dynamically create fields based on the number of rows I need to create. Can I create these rows dynamically with the fields having the same name so I don't have to do dynamic textfield naming?

Your fields don't even need to have a "name", if by that you mean the name of a variable. Or they can all have the same name, for that matter. I don't know how you want to build your GUI, but just for an example lets suppose you wanted to display customer addresses using Labels. You could use some code like this (crude approximation to good working code):for or while loop over all customers:
String name = // name of next customer
Label custLabel = new Label(name); // make a Label
add(custLabel) // add the Label to your Panel or Frame or whatever
end of loopOr you could shorten that toadd(new Label(name));but the first version is necessary if you need to change the default attributes of the Label.

Dynamic Binding of two components grid

Hi abhi,
you should map the data for both grid separately, and you will use dynamic visibility concept for the grid to show them on run time.
Use radio button for the dynamic visibility concept.
Steps:
1: Take [Mapping] your grid names as radio button labels.
2: Make the insertion type of the radio button as position.
3: Map the destination cell.
Then in the grid properties go to behavior and under dynamic visibility map the status cell that contains 1 for the first grid and 2 for the second grid.Now map the destination cell of the radio button as key cell for the both grids.
Ex: cells A1=grid1 and A2=grid2 are the labels for the radio button,A3 is the radio button destination cell.
Now take B1=1 and B2=2.Map the B1 for the status of grid1 and B2 for the grid2 status.And map the A3 for the both grids key.
It's just using dynamic visibility concept using radio button.If it is not your requirement please let me know.

You need multiple rows for a dynamic structure field of a data source.
Just do data binding to the table.
In row-->binding tab select check box "Repeat Row for each Data Item".
Leave the min value as 1 you can specify the max value if do want to restrict.
If you need to have a row added dynamically via code, you can do so by using table.row.instancemanger.addinstance

SEL_MODE. Selection mode, determines how rows can be selected. Can have the following values:
A Multiple columns, multiple rows with selection buttons.
B Simple selection, listbox, Single row/column
C Multiple rows without buttons
D Multiple rows with buttons and select all ICON
Setting and getting selected rows (Columns) and read line contents
You can read which rows of the grid that has been selected, and dynamic select rows of the grid using methods get_selected_rows and set_selected_rows. There are similar methods for columns.
Note that the grid table always has the rows in the same sequence as displayed in the grid, thus you can use the index of the selected row(s) to read the information in the rows from the table. In the examples below the grid table is named gi_sflight.
Data declaration:
