E-businnes suite - Projects- Collaboration module

Hi
In the last release of Ebusiness suite, there is a new module called collaboration. It enables globally dispersed team members to raise and resolve issues and changes, share documents and communicate their progress and so on.
I am looking for any information regarding this new release. Does anybody know something about that ? any website or phone number where I could get a brochure ?

Project management module not starting

Hi
I am facing problem in running
primavera project management module.
I had lock
my system and then upon opning my login i faced an error
which are shown below.
Error:
"The file C:program files\primavera\project

status"
After clik on OK. Following error comes:

Creating Projects via Project Mangement Module vs Project Costing Module

Hi,
Is it true that I have to use Project Management(Project Super User responsibility) to create projects in order to fully utilize Project Management Module(Project Super User responsibility)?
I noticed that if I create a project via Project Costing Super User(Form based), I cannot access functions such as Project, Resoruces, Workplan, Financial tabs,etc. when quirying the project via Project Management Module(Project Super User responsibility)
Does it matter which responsibility/module you use to create projects?
Please advise.

Thanks for your answer. This is a situation that I have. We'be been using Project Costing for years and we mihgt start to enter a lot of budget data. The budget data are huge so we're looking at WebADI solution. I noticed that in order to use WebADI I have to configure Project Mangement and use Edit In Excel function which is from Project List page in Project Mangement module. (Cannot use WebADI as standalone)
1. Is my understanding about WebADI correct? I have to start WebADI from project management module, not from Excel.
2. Do you remember the program names that convert/upgrade to project management version of projects? Is the program simple to run and stable/

Maybe because you are not updating your GUI components on the EDT.

Two projects, one module.

Experts,
We have a situation in which an ABAP project, Project A, has been ongoing for several months and has not yet been deployed to the production system.
A new high priority project, Project B, has come along which will involve changes in many of the same modules which have been modified for Project A.
The ABAP development team has been tasked with coming up with a way that Project B can be developed, tested and deployed to production independently of Project A. The problem is that Project A must also continue to be developed and tested during the same time-frame. We are not allowed to "back out" Project A by reverting the versions.
We are on 4.6c.
What does this community recommend as away to accomplish this?

The only time I have seen that warning is when the containment relationship does not have any public names defined ... An additional warning appears if a public name is defined for one direction but not the other.
Try the following ...
1.     Create new Project “ModuleTest”
2.     Add properties file to project – “ModuleTest_Properties”
3.     Open Properties File
4.     Add new entity – “TestEntity” using all defaults
5.     Edit TestEntity to set public name to “TE”
6.     Edit the automatically created attribute of TE to set the public name to “TE_ID”
7.     Select Build->Module from menu ... you should see the warning: “… cannot be exported because its containment relationship …” and another warning ...
8.     Double click on the containment warning message and it should take you to the relationship edit dialog for the automatically created (containment) relationship between global and TestEntity
9.     Specify a public name “TE_Containment” AND the reverse (public name) “TE_Containment_Reverse” and click OK
10.     Select Build->Module from menu again and no warnings should appear
If this works as expected and your policy model is producing warnings, then click on each warning to determine the source of the warning.

Long distance iMovie project collaboration?

Hey guys/ladies,
I am working on a website with a friend who lives in Virginia, while I live in Atlanta.
We want to collaborate on iMovie projects for the website (mainly 1 min or so video clips, with pictures, titles, text, transitions, etc added). Ideally, we would use something like Dropbox. However, this just doesn't seem to work.
I have searched for guidance in this area fairly extensively, however I just can't seem to come up with a solution. I am new to this whole Mac and iMovie thing (in fact, I bought a Mac just so I could collaborate with him using iMovie). It seems that you can't just drag the project folders to Dropbox, transfer to the other Mac, and everything works.
Does anyone have any ideas? I know that you can transfer iMovie projects via external hard drive, however shipping an external hard drive back and forth between VA and Atlanta just would get expensive.

I don't quite understand what you mean by "editing file". Could you explain? Also, are you sure this works because you've tried it or is this just something you think might work? I ask because I've previously gone through the Apple instructions for how to transfer an iMovie project from one computer to another and I got the sense one had to do it that way rather than manipulating files in the file system.
I did look into WeVideo but it is quite limited compared to iMovie. For example, you cannot change the video speed at all, whereas iMovie allows full control of that. iMovie can grab this market if they sort this out.

Implemenying Global constants through out a project or module in LABVIEW

I am looking for the best method for implementing global constants in a project, the method I use now is to make a vi which returns a single indicator value that has been wired to a constant. This works nicely but it seems like a lot of unnecessary overhead. I was hoping for a way of performing something similar to a header file (*.h) in c which uses a #define preprocessed directive. This has no overhead since it replaces the named constant with the global constant value. A typedef is similar to this but it has the problem that the constant appears as a constant and does not allow for a custom icon to be associated with it. I guess the ideal situation would be if typedefs allowed for custom icons on the block diagrams for constant instances. Is this possible? It would make coding much more readable. A header file could be simulated with a library of typedefs (scripting might even allow a .h file to be auto-generated) Any ideas on this. Other solutions.

I look forward to the new LV8 features, I hope to begin the migration process this winter when work slows down a little. The only advantage to a preprocessed directive is that is will replace the code before processing (like cutting and pasting the value in place of the constant, with no function call overhead. This could only be a problem with CPU intensive code. See the following "toy" example.

the first example simply replaces the named constant with a value, while the second example uses a function call, requiring pushing the return value on the stack along with an Instruction pointer, and 2 required jumps in program flow. Your solution is none the less the best I have seen and what I am using. Labview used to have the same problem with commenting (ie placing code in a case statement and hardwiring it to a false Boolean) where the code was not removed by the complier but simply not executed (not quite the same thing) but this too looks to be fixed in LV8.

For the out-of-box solution from Oracle, you will not require any additional license on EBS side as you already have license for PJC, PJT and PJL. However you need to purchase license for P6 and EBS P6 PIP solution.

Project Billing
Project Management
Project Collaboration
Project Resource Management
Project Portfolio Management
In addition project oriented companies may use -
Project Contracts (it is part of Contracts suite)
Project Manufacturing (it is part of Manufacturing or Supply Chain)
Projects OBIA (pre configured reporting solution which is part of OBIEE).
What goes with what?
You must have Project Foundation as basis for any project related application.
Project Costing is a must if you want to track the project cost. It is also essential for managing capital projects. You can also budget using that product.
Project Billing is an addition needed for contract project, if you want to generate and account for revenue, and for generating invoices for customer.
All other modules are felxible and you can add each one of them separatlly.
However, Project Collaboration is uaually used on top of Project Management.
Project Contracts can be used as stand alone, but it is usually implemented on top of Project Billing.
Project Manufacturing is integrated with Proejct Costing.
DBI and Project Inteligence are "old" reporting applications, but it is not recomended to start any new implementation with those, since strategically, Oracle will not continue to invest in those.

If anybody has worked on C-project suite. Please let me know the relatonship between table "DPR_PROJECT" and "DPR_PHASE". Its not on field "GUID" that is sure.
Is there any BAPI which relates these tables??
Actually I want to get the "Name of the Phase( which is released)" for a project.
The name of the phase I can get from the table "CGPL_TEXT". The field "GUID" of CGPL_TEXT and field "GUID" of table "DPR_PHASE" are equal. But the problem is only that How can I get the name of the Phase for a project which is in table "DPR_PROJECT" (Field GUID).

Integration with Collaboration Projects (cProjects)
You can use this process to integrate SAP Supplier Relationship Management (SAP SRM) with cProjects. This enables you to handle your entire purchasing process for materials and services from sourcing to time and expense recording using cProjects and SAP SRM.
The process is used in the business scenario Service Procurement External Staffing.
Prerequisites
*To integrate SAP SRM with cProjects, you have made the necessary configuration settings as described in
*SAP Solution Manager under >Scenarios> Service Procurement-> External Staffing-> Business Processes --> Requesting External Staff .
Process
You send an external requirement from cProjects to the SAP SRM sourcing application.
The SAP SRM system creates a requirement and sends a confirmation to cProjects.
As a purchaser, you process this requirement in the sourcing application and create a purchase order. Alternatively, you create an RFx using SAP Bidding Engine. The system sends the purchase order number and the item number to cProjects.
SAP SRM records the times worked and the expenses incurred and sends them to cProjects. The time recording in SAP SRM is a prerequisite for the complete mapping of the RFx in cProjects. The time recording in supplier self-services (SUS) cannot be mapped.

Project Accounting Systems Module

Can anyone explain the differences between project accounting system and project sytems module. Are they both the same module? Also, where can I find all the financial data against the project including revenue, profit etc.

It is the same module abbreviated as PS. Accounting "submodule" is mostly about integrating with financial modules such as FI, CO, AA, IM, while logistics part is about PS integration with modules like MM, SD, PP, PM.
If you are familiar with Controlling (CO) module, the concept is very much the same. PS provides a number of objects that can be used as cost account assignment objects, for which you can report similar to Cost Centers or Internal orders.
There are a lot of other specifics, but since your question is quite general, the answer is also of a general nature.

How to reconcile Projects module with GL module?

Dear Experts / Dina,
If someone of you can help me in understanding the (Oracle provided) / (workaround) / mothod or procedure to reconcile Projects costing module with General ledger module ?
Does Oracle Provides seeded mothods for reconcilling projects with GL? or Customer needs to create custom reports? If yes then what is the principle of designing such report?

Unfortunately there is no easy answer to this. Oracle unfortunately do not provide a report that does this. To reconcile correctly you have to do it both ways i.e check that all that is in OP is in GL, and then all that ia in GL (that is project related) is in OP. This is because project related costs can get into GL and not get into OP (e.g. through AP). I won't launch into a detailed explaination, but the starting point in OP is a table called PA_COST_DISTRIBUTION_LINES_ALL which hold the most granular cost information and accounting CCID that can be used for reconciliation. Revenue reconciliation involves other table(s) depending on how you recognise revenue in OP.
There used to be a product called Complete Projects Reconciliation from a company called Projected Consulting (changed name to Project) that did this - have a look on Google. But they no longer offer this as a product (consulting solution now)
