E-Mail Access

In the last couple of days I have been unable to access my e-mails, either through Outlook on my PC or through my Android phone.  My Phone tells me that my password has been changed at the server (not by me!), and Outlook doesn't recognise the password either.
I logged on to BY Yahoo webmail and changed the password there, and my phone and Outlook started working again, but not for long.  So I changed the password AGAIN through BTYahoo webmail, and I still can't access my e-mails through my phone or Outlook.
I have:
Tried the online help through the BT website - which asks me to change the password (again!), whcih has no effect
Downloaded the BT Desktop help thingy, which gave me a messge to say that "Due to Technical Difficulties it could not identify the problem"
Tried the online chat with a live BT advisor, who
Suggested that I try the online help through the BT website (see above)
Change my password and try again (see above)
Suggested that, as I can access e-mails through webmail, it wasn't their problem - not a BT issue
Said that they were not trained to deal with Outlook so he could not help.
As Outlook and my phone were both working prefectly until a couple of days ago, and both stopped accessing e-mails at the same time, I would have thought that this is a problem at the BT end, not mine - but I am at a loss to know how to resolve this.
Any suggestions?

Hi. Welcome to the forums.
I'm afraid this seems like one of the problems that has plagued the email system for a number of months now. The fact that you can login via webmail using the password means that is has actually nothing to do with the password. The responses from the mail programs imply it is - which alone could cause many users to change items that are not required.
It is actually a pop3 access failure, which some people have seen. It typically clears after a time, possibly a few days - but changing the password via webmail, or even just logging in via webmail can help in some cases. It did for you for a short period as you've noticed. I don't believe that there has been any definitive reason for the issue, apart from sporadic mail account access problems. Indeed if you have sub accounts, some people have seen that it doesn't affect the "whole" account, just some of the email addresses.

How can I move my Verizon e-mail accessed from my iPAD to folders?

If your Verizon account is an IMAP account you can create folders on the iPad via the Edit button when you are in the account. If you see an edit button in the window where your inbox, draft folder, sent folder and trash folder appear in that account - tap on it and an Add Mailbox button will pop up at the bottom of the window. If there is no Edit button there - your account is not an IMAP account and you cannot create folders on the iPad in the mail app.

Why must I force quit (double press home and slide off) Mail on both my iPad and iPhone in order to have Mail access on my iMac on the same wifi network. Fetch is set to manual and my ISP is Charter.

I don't know about the "3" but it's a POP account. I've always suspected that Charter isn't letting go using their mobile apps for iOS. Puzzling that it doesn't block the other way. That is if Mail is open on the iMac it doesn't block access to Mail on either the iPad or iPhone. I'm guessing it's their mobile apps that are the problem but they won't admit it to me.

  • Do you have to join MobileMe to have e mail access?

    Hi all-
I have a problem. First up, forgive me for being a bit stupid - but I'm not very computer savvy so this may be REALLY obvious to the rest of you.
My issue is this, I use my i-phone for e mail all the time; and when I first got the phone I signed up for a mobile me account as I seemed to have little choice and I wanted to be able to receive and send e mails and this seemed to be the only route. However, I don't use ANY of the other functions offered by mobile Me so I rather resent the annual subscription which I think is pretty steep and now my renewal is up, I'd rather not subscribe. But will I loose all e mail access?
When I had hotmail accounts they were free. Is it possible to keep my mac.com e mail address and get access, or will I have to go to another type of account and merge that with the phone?
    Thanks for your help!

You do not require a MobileMe account.
iPhone will support any POP3 (Hotmail) or IMAP-based email account (Yahoo, Gmail etc.) You'll be better going for an IMAP-based email account because your iPhone will mirror the folders that are used when you logon to your account via the internet. POP3, such as Hotmail, will only show you your inbox, draft, sent and trash.
I don't have a MobileMe account, but I would expect if you cancel your subscription you will lose your old mac.com email address. Thus, you're better setting up a new web-based account now and change your mac.com email address to your new one for all the web-based services you've subscribed to, before it is closed!

  • What happened to my mail access on home page, it just vanishes after stat-up and is replaced with ads ? How do I fix it?

It's always worked until this past week, nothing changed by user that I know of. I've checked pop-up blocker to no avail. Using Avira free security, it updated a few days ago, did a restore after it was updated to before the update, didn't help either. Want let me open Hughes net mail in Fire Fox at all. Can access it from Explorer but hat Explorer, it's slower than Fire Fox. Any help is appreciated as I've run out of ideas.

I am not entirely sure what problems you are reporting.
    # Home Page are you able to set that as required or not ?
    #Webmail
#* I am not clear, are you able to open that with Firefox ?
#* I understand you are able to open it with Internet Explorer
Are you saying that your webmail is set as one of your home pages, but that it is replaced with something else ?
Do other websites and searches work ok in Firefox or are you also having other problems in Firefox use ?

  • Windows 8.1, Military CAC, Dual Persona PIV Cert, DEE-mail Access Problem

I am not able to access the military e-mail system, Defense Enterprise E-mail (DEE) from my new computer.  My new computer is a Dell Venue 11 Pro Tablet that runs Windows 8.1 with the latest updates.  In addition, hardware wise,
I have a CAC (Common Access Card) reader, model SCR3310. Using my old personal computer and several other government computers, I am able to access DEE with no problems because they are all able to access the PIV (Personal Identity Verification)
    Certificate on my CAC card.
I am not able to access DEE.  The reason is that I cannot see the fourth PIV certificate on the CAC card, even though it is there.  This certificate is called a PIV certificate. The PIV certificate on the CAC has been properly activated.
Using other computers that have a middleware software called ActivClient loaded, I am able to log onto DEE without any problems.  However, I have read that Windows 8.1 does not need ActivClient in order to access the CAC.
On my old computer, I am able to view all four certificates using ActivClient.  And I am able to publish all four certs so that Internet Explorer 11 can have access to them when I log onto DEE and other websites.
On my new computer, I am able to view three of the four certificates using certmgr.msc.  I run this by right mouse clicking on the Start button and then clicking on either Search or Run and then typing in certmgr.msc.
Within the Cert Manager window, the left pane shows, "Certificates - Curent User" > "Personal" > "Certificates".  When the Certificates folder is clicked, only three certificates are shown.  That's the problem.
How do I get the fourth certificate to show up?   The PIV cert is definitely on the CAC.  The PIV cert has been properly activated on the DMDC website and shows up on all of the computers that use ActivClient.
I have also tried installing ActivClient 7.0.2.XXX with the latest hotfix and made all other adjustments specified on MilitaryCAC.com (which usually works and worked on a very similar ASUS T-100 machine). When I install ActivClient, I can "see"
all four certs and I can log on through web.mail.mil, get the cert prompt, select PIV, enter PIN, and move on to the warning banner, and then the expected redirect to the OWA link...but when I click on the final link I get the IE error 500.
I have tried reinstalling windows, Chrome and Firefox and I have even purchased the Windows 8.1 Pro upgrade with the same results. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    RESOLVED:
For those experiencing this issue, after a call to the Army Enterprise Help Desk, I tried using the DOD Cross Cert Removal Tool and after reboot that fixed my issue.
The newer DOD CA Root Cert installation package supposedly has the Cross Cert Removal Tool packaged together, however this additional step resolved my error 500 issue.

  • E-mail not outgoing, and intermitely E-Mail access

    Greetings Apple Discussions:
I have my OSX firewall off, Verizon DSL westell 2200 modem, and a Linksys wired router-that has a firewall. A few days ago I reconfigured the router through an IBM laptop with NetSet software from Linksys.
Regular internet pages open fast. I may be able to log on to Yahoo.com mail, etc. and once I read a message I can no longer get access to my InBox. This also happens when I try to submit forms for services, etc.
When I try to send an email, this is the message I get:
Cannot send message using the server
    outgoing.verizon.net
The server response was: 4.4.2 Timeout while waiting for command.
Use the pop-up menu below to try a different outgoing mail server. All messages will use this server until you quit Mail or change your network settings.
Message from: Aubrey Muhammad <[email protected]>
Then when I try it again I get this message:
This message could not be delivered and will remain in your Outbox until it can be delivered.
The sender address [email protected] was rejected by the server.
I would appreciate if any one would help me with this issue.

  • Need reference/tutorial about iDisk (especially .Mac mail) access by iPhone

    Greetings,
I have started getting quite interested in using my .Mac subscription, especially the iDisk online storage capabilities while being on the road with my MBP.
HOWEVER, I am also intrigued with accessing iDisk and .Mac Mail from my iPhone.
    1. That's where I am having problem number one: seems that i cannot use my iPhone to access anything I put into iDisk's folders from my MBP. I put files into iDisk on my desktop, check if same files are on iDisk by reaching .Mac online, but I do not see anything on my iPhone while accessing iDisk from it. I do see the same iDisk folders as i see on my desktop Documents, etc..), but with no data inside.
My .Mac WebGallery/Albums work well from my iPhone.
    2. Similar problem with Mail. Everything is OK - send receive - as far as .Mac Mail goes, if reached from my laptop. Not so with the iPhone: even though I can send/receive from .Mac Mail from my iPhone, and I do see .Mac Mail's mail boxes, and message insides, I cannot access attachments that i might have sent from Mail on my MBP or from .Mac Mail from my MBP.
I hope this is not too complicated a request for assistance: I have done well so far with most of the iPhone amzingly well integrated capabilities, but I am stumped here re: iPhone access to .Mac's Mail and iDisk.
    Thanks in advance!
    Roger T

Thanks, Zerimar. Indeed, somewhat useless. Not a big deal, but the rest of the interface between my MBP and the iPhone, as well as the iPhone design itself, are quite wonderful. I keep trying to detect some inadequacies in that interface. Not too many!
Seems that Apple designed the iPhone to purposefully limit its online capabilities (security issues, or prevention of unnecessary troubleshooting issues, just like in the case on unlocking phones!)

  • Can Mail access the sent messages on my POP3 server (webmail)?

    Hi there,
I recently got a blackberry, mainly for the email etc. It's all great, but I have stumbled on an issue that I can't figure out:
When I send an email from it, it somehow gets a copy of the sent email into the sent items on my webmail server. But how can I get a copy of my sent messages into my Mac Mail?
In the Mail preferences, I see that there are settings regarding the inbox, but nothing that I have found lets me import messages that I have sent via webmail - or that are in my different webmail "sent items" folders.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!!

Blackberry/RIM has their own proprietary email service, so assuming you could access your sent messages, you would need to find out from them how you would do it. Normally, POP mail is not stored on servers, that is when you receive mail it's immediately downloaded to your computer unless you set a flag in your email application to save a copy on the server. Sent mail doesn't originate from your email server, so it's all stored locally. I would presume storing sent mail on a Blackberry wouldn't make a great deal of sense because it would eat a lot of memory space of which there's not a great deal on a cell phone.
Perhaps RIM's mail is IMAP rather than POP where everything is on the server.

  • TM (1st Gen), Lion, Thunderbolt, and Internet/Mail Access

    Hi everyone,
I ran into a bit of a problem that has me stumped.  I upgraded to Lion on a new Macbook Pro back in July.  I have an Apple Thunderbolt display connected to the MBP. I recently unboxed and connected my 1st generation Time Machine and started having internet connection issues.  I am not using my TM to create a wireless network but only as a hard drive to back up my laptop.  I connect to a wireless network not created through this TM.  My TM is connected via the ethernet port on back of the Thunderbolt display.  My observation is that whenever the TM is connected I have internet connection issues (mail - iCloud/Gmail, Safari, and Firefox).  Whenever I disconnect the TM from the ethernet port on the Thunderbolt display and turn off Time Machine from the Time Machine Preferences, I have no connection issues.
Has anyone run into a similar problem?  I would like to continue using TM to back up my MBP hard drive but also want to be able to access the internet.  Any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance.

I called Apple support and they helped me solve the problem.  I should have written down the specifics, but basically I needed to streamline my prefs.  I was using both DHCP and PPPoE.  I turned off the PPPoE setting in the Airport utility in the utility folder in the Applications menu.  Sorry I can't be more specific.  I then had to restart the computer for the changes to take affect.

  • Can't access multiple mail accounts through mail access through the web OK

Mail will not let me access more than one web mail account. The error message reads that the server will not accept my password. When I go to the web mail site, I have no problem with any of the accounts. I have checked and rechecked the mail preferences, checked with my IP service and reset all the passwords just to start from scratch. Same results. Mail will not accept the changes I have tried such as viewing the header. I have tried to delete the "to" column and add "from" but it will not accept the changes. The one account it recognizes does not function properly. It leaves mail on the server and I have checked any preferences for that also. Even when I have the "functioning" account highlighted, menu options such as "long header" are grayed out. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

would that be the com.apple.mail.plist preference file located in the users folder then inside the library folder then the preference folder? I currently have no mail so i could do this. Thanks for any help

  • Snow Leopard Server - Remote Mail Access

    Greetings,
I'm looking to see the best way to support remote users of an OS X server for handling mail/calendar synchronization. Some users will be in environments where they could connect directly, while others would be able to use the standard VPN services in OS X server to connect and synchronize. Others, however, would probably be limited to HTTP/HTTPS access to the server.
I know that the web mail interface would work for this, though Squirrel Mail has never been a favorite of mine, but I'm attempting to support synchronization with their native clients. These would likely be Mail or Outlook, depending on the platform, though possibly Thunderbird would be in play.
When reviewing options, it seems as if installing an SSL VPN software package may be the best bet, even if that's not an OS X standard software component. These would appear to allow connectivity via HTTPS, and I'm wondering if anybody has had positive experiences on OS X Server with these.
Another option is different software all together for mail services, such as Zimbra Professional Edition. It has plugins to support directly synchronizing via HTTPS and thats certainly a good benefit, though it brings it's own infrastructure and doesn't use the OS X server internal capabilities.
Are there other features that I am missing that would provide this type of capability within the standard Snow Leopard Server installation, or other recommended products for supporting this in a heterogeneous environment?
    Thanks!

    Hi
Multi client full bandwidth VPN done directly on a server tends to be pretty wretched stuff. Dedicated VPN boxes are cheap enough if your firewall router does not already have VPN built into it.
