E-mail certificate import

am unable to import e-mail certificate to set-up SMIME as import utility does not allow me to type the correct password when importing the certificate.only has the numeric options.
certificate was exported from IE on windows 7 platform with the private key included in p12 format.

Hey there, Mike.
Did you ever secure a good answer to this inquiry?  If not, I believe that the underlying certificate management framework handles that for you.  If I understand things correctly, the Certificate Authority issued the Digital ID that is associated
to a specific email account.  I too run multiple email accounts in my outlook client, and if I try to sign an email that is being sent from an account that is different than the one that the Digital ID is for, the client tosses an error dialog indicating
that the digital id is not valid for said account.  As such, I think that your concern is mitigated by default.
The hurdle is configuring the client to try to use the certificate only when sending emails from the account associated with the Digital ID.  I ended up, in Trust Center|Email Security defaulting to signing each email and then I customized the ribbon
to put the sign/encrypt buttons on the default MESSAGE tab, as reflected here: http://i.imgur.com/z37sj5j.png (note the permission section on the far right).
That way, if I am going to send from an account that is not associated with the Digital ID, then all I have to do is to stroke the Sign button once to tell the client not to attempt to sign said email being composed.
Hope that helps, if you're still looking for a resolution.
What brought me to this thread is my desire to know if Outlook, and the underlying OS, supports multiple Digital IDs.  As I drafted this, I talked myself into acknowledging that it probably does by being able to import multiple certificates and then
relying on the integration between the client and host OS to handle selecting which ID/Certificate is appropriate for use when a specific email is composed and sent (based on the originating account) with Signing (& Encryption) enabled.  I am going
to get another Digital ID and put the theory to test.  I suspect that it'll be intuitive and work just like one would expect.  Wish me luck.
Take care.

In 'mail', after importing mailboxes the process gets stuck on '1619 of 72826' and 'time remaining' climbs infinitely. Please suggest a solution.
I converted my mail boxes from POP to imap for the purpose of syncing all my devices. I backed up my mail boxes and further more perfomed a timemachine backup.
Upon restoring ther mailboxes, either by manually copying them to the mailboxes folder, and restoring a timemachine backup, both pocesses result in the above problem.
    Please recomend a solution.

  • .p12 Certificate import in weblogic server 10.3.6.0

    Hi,
I am facing a issue regarding certificate import in weblogic server 10.3.6.0. In my project I built a java webservice where a https url  is invoked with xml input(correct format).Https url is restricted. I can not open this url from my browser. I got '403 : Forbidden' error in browser as well as webservice log in server. I asked my client. They gave me one .jks and one .p12 certificated file and password. When I installed this .p12 (giving password) in my local windows computer, I am able to open that https in my browser.I have imported this .p12 certificate in 'cacerts' as well as 'DemoTrust.jks' in weblogic server and restarted the server. But i am getting the same error(403 : Forbidden) in weblogic server.
Where should I import this .p12 in weblogic server? I mean in which key store.
    FYI,
This code is running fine in 10g production server.I haven't developed this code. I have migrated this code to 11.1.1.7.0.
I am using this .jks() in the java code.
            System.setProperty("javax.net.ssl.keyStore", keyStore.jks);
            System.setProperty("javax.net.ssl.keyStorePassword", "<password>");
Weblogic server is running in unix environment.
Read many posts... But did not any find right solution. Can anybody please help me solve this.

If i remember correctly, .p12 will have both the public and private key.
You need to convert it to a jks and configure the server to use this jks

  • 10.5.3 update issue with netscape 7.2 and Mail wont import

After using software update to update to 10.5.3, I can no longer open my netscape 7.2, which I use for email still. (I know it's ancient) but now what? I can't get Mail to import my netscape mailboxes, it crashes. My time machine filled up my back up drive a month ago and I didn't sort that out, so my backup is older than I want to go and try to restore from a backup. Any ideas how to get netscape to work?
    thanks,
I can't get email right now

Netscape 7.2 is pretty old and quite likely isn't Leopard-compatible. You might instead want to take a look at Thunderbird, the modern email application from the developers of Netscape. I believe Thunderbird can import mailboxes and settings from Netscape, if memory serves. Firefox would be the web browser component if you want an alternative to Safari. If you really prefer to have a single application that handles both, as did Netscape, Seamonkey is the modern replacement for Netscape.
    Hope this helps.

  • ACS Certificate import failure

    Hello All,
trying to get a certificate imported on an ACS collector. The import (apparently) fails with this:
    >> 1 certificates found for server authentication usage.
    >> Enter the number of the certificate you want AdtServer to use for authenticating
    >>   to AdtAgent or 0 to quit without saving: 1
    >> Certificate 1 selected. Attempting to save thumbprint to registry ...
    >> failure.
No errors, no messages, no event logs - no nada. I'm not even sure the import actually failed (how to verify ??).
Anyone happen to have an idea on how to troubleshoot this? I tried tracing registry access with Sysinternals ProcMon, but nothing interesting really stood out.
Thx in advance for help and/or pointers!
    Rgds - M.

  • S/Mime Digital E-mail certificate failure after update 4.3. Firmware from Update Center

    How can I get support?
Before this weekend I was running my Z1 fine with the E-mail client on it. I use 2 exchange activesync enabled accounts. I manually installed 2 e-mail certificates (from Comodo) in dec 2013 last year. I was able to sign an encrypt E_mails send from my Sony Z1.
Today I noticed that E-mail were unable to send and stayed in the outbox of the Sony E-mail client. I noticed that disabeling Sign E-mail fixed this. I was unable to send E-mail with a Signed and or Encrypted option. I tried several things :
    - Re-installa certifcates, somehow this doesn't work, it just keeps on saysing "Certificate not installed"
    - Try installing certificate from the Settings >> Security screens
    - Deleted 1 Exchange account
    - Initiated the Exchange account again
What happened? Can someone point me in the right direction? it worked before the 4.3. update
    1: It is a bug ?
2: Is it a new way to install / deploy E-mail siging certificates?
I noticed a message saying something like, is this a certificate for App/VPN or a WiFi certificate. It doesn't mention specifically E-mail Siging.
    Best Regards,
    Onedutch

I placed the certificate on my external SD-card when i tested this.
What i did was that i clicked the link in the email i got from Comodo to collect and install the certificate in my PC running Windows 7 and Chrome. In the top of Chrome i clicked the option to view the certificate. This makes Windows display it. On the information tab i clicked the option to save to file (including the private key) and using default options which makes Windows save it as a *pfx with a file name that i enter myself. I then entered my password when asked.
This file i transferred to the external SD and i can install it by entering the filename and password i set for it. It then shows my email address and name of certificate.
Are you sure that you're entering the correct filename and password of the certificate? Try placing it in the root of the SD-card and check the file name using a file manager or computer.
The certificate doesn't show under Settings -> Security -> Trusted Credentials. I only see the standard certificates there.

  • Anyconnect VPN not working after Firefox upgrade - "Certificate import has failed"

    Hi All,
I am running anyconnect 3.0.5080 on ubuntu 11.10x86.  I had everything working using my company's enroll process but after a recent Firefox upgrade (12.0) I was no longer able to authenticate.  I have had this problem before and fixed it by re-enrolling.
This time when I try to re-enroll it accepts my CA challenge password and prompts me to close all browsers before continuing.  After ensuring that no browsers are running and clicking 'Accept' I am presented with the message "Certificate Enrollment - Certificate import has failed."
Can anyone help me with this?
    Thanks,
    Philip

    Hi Nick,
Did you try to import .der/.pse file? if yes, this is not the case for ECC6.
This is the procedure for ECC6:
    1) Log to Visual Administrator
    2) Go to Server -> Services -> Key Storage
    3) Select the TicketKeyStore view
    4) Export SAPLogonTicketKeypair-cert file (file extension should be crt)
    5) Import the crt file to the ECC6 system.

  • Mail certificate decryption error after update

    Hello,
after installing the "Mac OS X 10.6.3. Supplemental Update" Mail stopped decrypting mails encrypted with S/MIME certificates. Everything worked fine before, my other macs still work fine. I tried to re-import the certificates, i used newly generated certificates, but it's the same every time: Mail won't decrypt the encrypted message.
Does anyone have any hints for me? It's a quite serious problem…
    Thanks in advance,
    CSMR

I also have the same problem.. after upgrading, I can only sign, but not encrypt emails.
I have seen this issue mentioned on other forums, and as of today, have seen no workarounds or
responses from Apple. There is an app called Encrypt Email for Mac that will encrypt mail, but it is nothing like using Certs.
I would really like to see this issue fixed.... soon.

  • Safari/Mail certificate problem with gmail/google

    Here is my problem:
I have set-up Mail to use my gmail account through POP. Since yesterday, when I try to get or send mail, mail gives me the error:
Unable to verify SSL server pop.gmail.com
Mail was unable to verify the identity of this server, which has a certificate issued to "pop.gmail.com'. The error was:
You might be connecting to a computer that is pretending to be "pop.gmail.com', and putting your confidential information at risk. Would you like to continue anyway?
I then have the option to show the certificate, cancel or continue. If I hit Continue, nothing happens and mail set itself to offline. If I force Mail back online (Menu Mailbox/Go Online), when it goes on the next automatic check, it turns back offline. After hours of google search, I also tried the option to show the certificate, then drag the icon of the certificate to the desktop, then open the certificate with Keychain in order to add it to the keychain but this did not work for me, keychain refused to open it and if I double-click it on the desktop it opens as a clipping content. If I change the typre/creator to force Keychain to open it, then I got an error "Unable to import an item".
I then tried to access gmail within Safari (not through POP) and I got this error when I tried to login:
Safri cannot establish a secure connection to www.google.com
At the same time, I had no problem to access it with Firefox. Back to google search, I tried to use Safari debug menu to set the security to "Performs Lax Certificate Checks" and then I could access my gmail with Safari. However the problem persists in Mail.
I believe this is a system-wide certificate issue (Firefox not affected because of a diffrent handling of certificates?not much knowledge about certificates). I tried all the standard troubleshooting:
re-boot, logoff, repair permissions, reapply latest security updates, reapply latest OS update, reset Safari, clean-up caches, discarded all mail preferences,clear-up keychain of any google/gmail.
Finally I also found in my searches to try ro download a certicate from Thawte (ThawtePremiumServerCA.cer) and add it to my keychain but this does not solve the problem.
    Help will be greatly appreciated
System info: iMac G5 1.6, 1Gb RAM, OS X 10.3.9 (everything up to date according to Software update), internet connection through Airport extreme base station.

Are you saying that this is a well-recognised issue?
Can we assume that the reason for not fixing it is that Nokia want people to use Nokia Messaging instead? It came free with my phone and I did try it. It connected & synchronised well but contacts in headers kept appearing in quotes ("") and when I checked my email from my main IMAP client my sent items included incomplete versions of my emails as well as the finished email - as if it was sending drafts.
I guess I'm sticking with MfE for calendar and IMAP for email...

  • Any Connect iOS Certificate Import Problem

I have uploaded the certificate to dropbox. Got the direct link and imported it from there. It has asked for the password and said it is installed but still i cannot see the certficate in the certificates list in the advanced settings of connection. Tried the same in Android and it worked smoothly and i can see the certificate too in android.
The certificate is a .p12 certificate. It is a self signed certificate if i have to generate other certificates i can.

OK, i figured this out myself (with significant help from on-line sources and my buddy glen), so i wanted to post for others to not have to go through what i went through. here you go: the cert from verisign is a .p7c file, which, when imported into keychain access, is not recognized as your own cert. apparently, it must be a .p12. how do you transform your cert from .p7c to .p12? easiest way (actually, the only way i found) is to export it from firefox (when you double click on the .p7c it automagically imports into all browsers as well as keychain access). so, in firefox, go to preferences > advanced > encryption > view certificates. you should see the cert from verisign. then click on it and click the backup button, which will create a .p12 cert. then delete the cert from verisign from keychain access that is in "certificates," and import the new cert (either drag it to the keychain app icon or use import). you should then see a cert in "my certificates" from verisign. quit apple mail and restart it, and you should see the sign and encrypt icons in the compose mail window, and it will properly digitally sign and encrypt emails. i was able to do both successfully after this operation. good luck!

  • Is there a limit to the number of mails that Mail can import?

I'm importing from the last Time Machine backup of my MacBook Pro to a new iMac. The import gets stuck at 72k so I can't set up mail. I know it's nuts to have 100k of messages and I'll be doing something about that, but for now I need to get Mail working on the iMac. Any ideas?

No, but there are sometimes problems with importing the IE favorites directly.
If you have problems with importing the IE Favorites in Firefox then export the Favorites in IE to an HTML file and import that file in the Firefox Bookmarks Manager.<br />
That way you also preserve any sorting that you may have done in IE with the Favorites.
    * Export the favorites in IE to an HTML file (bookmarks.html): File > Import and Export
    * Import the HTML file in Firefox: Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks > Import & Backup > Import HTML: From File
See "Import from another browser" and "Import from file":

  • Mail keeps importing my data every time I launch the app.

MacBook Pro / 2.3 GHz Intel Core i7 / 8 GB RAM / Snow Leopard 10.6.7 – Ever time I launch mail, it as if I launched it for the first time. I get the mail introductory screen about importing all my mail preferences and messages. After I allow it to update all my messages and folders, it crashes. Any ideas?

Thanks for the response, I've got 125 GB used and 625 available. I don't have any additional partitions on my hard drive. The only thing I wondered about is that I have a ton of saved mail in a bunch of different folders. I have 3 other Macs and haven't had a problem with those. Let me know if you come up with anything else.

  • MAIL certificate question

Lately I get a question box when I open MAIL.   I have Snow Leopard, and opted to keep Mobile Me at the switch this summer.   It has been working just fine,

    Verify Certificate.

    I have iCloud eMail running in 10.4.11 & 10.5.8...
Do not delete the old account yet. sign up for an iCloud account if you haven't.
I understand .mac mail will still come through. Do not delete the old account yet.
You cannot use .mac or MobileMe as type of Account, you have to choose IMAP when setting up, otherwise Mail is hard coded to change imap.mail.me.com to mail.me.com & smtp.mail.me.com to smtp.me.com, no matter what you try to enter.
iCloud Mail setup, do not choose .mac or MobileMe as type, but choose IMAP...
On second step where it asks "Description", it has to be a unique name, but you can still use your email address.
    IMAP (Incoming Mail Server) information:
              •          Server name: imap.mail.me.com
              •          SSL Required: Yes
              •          Port: 993
              •          Username: [email protected] (use your @me.com address from your iCloud account)
              •          Password: Your iCloud password
    SMTP (outgoing mail server) information:
              •          Server name: smtp.mail.me.com
              •          SSL Required: Yes
              •          Port: 587
              •          SMTP Authentication Required: Yes
              •          Username: [email protected] (use your @me.com address from your iCloud account)
              •          Password: Your iCloud password
Also, you must upgrade your password to meet the new criteria:  8 characters, including upper and lower case and numbers.  If you have an older password that does not meet these criteria, when you try to setup mail on your mac, using all of the IMAP criteria listed above, it will still give a server error message.  Go to   http://appleid.apple.com         then follow directions to change your password, then go back to setting up your mail using the IMAP instructions above.
    Thanks to dpepper...

  • Mail stops importing mailboxes after Time Machine restore

    Hello,
I replaced the hard drive in my MacBook Pro by a solid state drive (Crucial M4 512Gb) hard drive.
Before installing it, I let Time Machine backup my complete hard drive to an external USB hard drive (backup done over night).
I installed the SSD, booted the MacBook in recovery mode (CMD R), initialised the SSD using Disk Utility and restored the complete hard drive from the Time Machine Backup.
Everything fine except for Mac Mail.
If I start Mac Mail: it wants to import my mailboxes.
    However, it stops at:
    Importing mailbox
    Imported 1112 of 1124 messages
Time remaining: Less than a minute
Then the fan comes up (high CPU load) and nothing happens.
If I cancel, the fan speed drops and Mail quits.
If I start Mail again, it reports one message less to import, thus:
    Importing mailbox
    Imported 1111 of 1123 messages
Time remaining: Less than a minute
I can repeat this (everytime the number of mail messages drops by one).
Problem is that I can't start using Mail until the messages are completely imported.
Anyone a tip what's going wrong and how to solve it?
As extra info: I made the Time Machine backups with nothing started on my MacBook (only Finder running).
    Kind regards,
    emeu1

I downloaded the mailbfr and ran

    mailbfr -o

When I logged back in as the standard administrator I took a look at the log files. I see this:
