E-mail "failures" to friends in the USA using Veri...

Question

This problem started late November, mysteriously stopped over Christmas, but has now restarted. If I e-mail anyone in the USA who use Verizon as their ISP I get a message with the subject
"[email protected] <[email protected]>"
The message reads "Sorry, we were unable to deliver your message to the following address.
<[email protected]>:
Mail server for "verizon.net" unreachable for too long"
and then goes on to list lines and lines of gobbledygook. These e-mails appear in my inbox anything up to five days AFTER I send my e-mails, but the strangest thing is that the recipients actually do receive my e-mails as usual - I've confirmed that by asking for a read message request. I stress this is only with Verizon users, both in Groups or single contacts.  I did get one call from a BT Techie in Derry, Ireland, who simply suggested if the problem continued to call back, which I did today -  I suspect that a rogue server is at fault, but trying to tell that to BT in India is well-nigh impossible.
Has anyone else had this experience ?
