E63 Packet data Access point set to None? What hap...

What happens when Packet Data>Access point is set to None(blank)? I tried to tether with my phone and I was connected to the internet for a moment. Checked my ip and it turns out it's through my mobile phone companies subnet.
However via the Bluetooth DUN setup on my computer I specifid a computer and login information which it seemed to ignore? Can anyone explain this strange situation?
The phone I'm using is an E63 GSM phone.

that will work. You only need to change if you need to have always on (highly unlikley) or if you are using modem dial up and need to specify access point for that.
If you using Nokia One Touch access then you don't even need to define access point in this menu as that application will take care of it for you.
All other network aware applications will use access point settings as defined in settings menu.

  • N70 Packet Data/Access Points?

I got my phone from a friend about a year ago. He had a Telstra sim card in it, but I had a Vodafone. So I put my sim card in, but the MMS wouldn't work. So I changed a few settings and managed to fix it.
However, my phone recently had it's memory wiped, including all the setting changes I made.
But now the MMS isn't working again!
I tried to change the packet data/access point stuff, but it doesn't come up with anything to do with Vodafone...only Telstra.
    Please help?

Hi, just go to your local nokia website. Settings can be ordered from the support section. Settings will be sent to you by sms.

  • Packet Data Access Point Names vs real data server...

I am trying to activate an application that requires GPRS.
I currently can get EGPRS and assume that will do the same but faster. But I have a question that may not pertain to this but as I am new at this I will ask it here. From reading I see that the settings of packet data appear to have more to do with setting up phone as a modem to use. So I don't know truly if this has any bearing on my problem with the software registering to complete the setup of it.
However my web access which is unlimited month to month internet access which allows me to go anywhere on web (not a walled garden) also uses this GPRS or EDGE version of GPRS. I am in the USA with T-Mobile. Phone is set to use GSM. The screen where it concerns connectivity says that I have Access Points which were configured by T-Mobile sms file they sent me twice. I actually have 5 names under Access Points.
    1)MMS = wap.voicestream.com
    2)T-Mo WEB = Internet.voicestream2.com with small i in settings
    3)T-Mo WEB(01) - this from 2nd sms copy same
4)T-Mobile Internet = Internet.voicestream2.com with small i in settings too.
5)t-zones this is their wall garden = wap.voicestream.com
ok since I can browse the web anywhere and download the application I don't know why I cannot register it. But it states it needs an internet connection before activation through authentication, or basically registering it to use.
So I am trying to do this after verifying that I have an internet connection with the too connection arrows symbols on phone screen showing internet connectivity with E over them currently by starting a browser first as the application doesn't seem to do this for me when trying to activate it.
    E
--> where the lines are solid. Ok here is my issue here.
The arrows are not coming up correctly in this forum anyway I get what shows I have EGPRS connectivity, I don't know if the application is sensitive to using GPRS only but will find out. I doubt it. The GPRS would show the arrows with an antennae above. I am talking about the indicators from what the pdf and book say.
Below Access Points on the menu in settings for connection is Packet data.
    Packet data has to variables
    1) when needed , or when available
    2) Access point
Access point is blank. Should I enter one of T-Mobiles names in the list above this under Access Points such as
T-Mobile Internet or should I put the server name in specifically internet2.voicestream.com?
I set the Data Call setting to Unlimited to make sure if its using this process it doesn't turn off after the 5 minute default on the next setting.
Any ideas why this gprs app is not activating itself and making the gprs internet connection with the pin I was provided? I had to use the pin just to download it and install it.

  • Access point setting

anybody who can help me to figure out what's wrong with my point, every time i try to configure my access point setting, a message will display "setting: memory full. close some appliocations and try again" pls help me

It is possible. If you give the phone at Nokia care they will also do a hard reset if required to do so. Therefore the risk is everywhere. If you have taken the full backup without problems there is small possibility of backup not getting restored if back-up and restore procedure is done correctly.

  • N8 camera keeps asking for access point setting

Most times when I start the camera I get the popup saying "Network connection required. Define access point to connect?". I realise that it'll need a connection because I've enabled geo tagging, but shouldn't I only have to set this once? I've looked in the menus & can't find anything in there to set it permanently. It;'s most annoying & I reckon I'll be missing photo opportunities because of it.
    Nokia N8 on Belle

go to connectivity settings and set to automatic instead of always ask . Or as aspergerguy suggested turn geo tagging on and off as required , but if you check your settings in connectivity it should work without asking good luck

  • Nokia E6 - Where is the Access point setting for Y...

I have my Nokia E6 configured for my Corporate Email, MfE and it works fine.  In the settings for MfE, I see a setting for Access Point, where I choose Internet with Priority 1 as my Home WLAN and Priority 2 as my GPRS connection.
Then, I started to configure my private Yahoo mail, evertyhing is done, it works fine, but I do not see any settings for Access Point for the Yahoo mail..
Does this mean it picks up the settings from MfE???
Can any other NOkia E6 users or experts comment on this??

    Hi Stuart,
    To answer your question:
There is no shared secret for the ACS itself.
If the ACS is going to communicate with another device, you have to define a AAA client and define a shared secret.
ACS 4, used that shared secret to protect/secure the replication, in ACS 5, the replication secured with encryption and not shared secrets(hash).

  • My ipad need to input password when i open it. but i have never set a possword. what happed?

my ipad needs me to enter password when i open it, but i have never set up password.
i don't know how to deal with?
    what happened?
    how to solve this problem?

I can't explain what happened but if it is asking for a password, even if you did not set one, the only way to unlock it is to restore it using iTunes.
You want to use the same computer that you always sync with so that you can restore your app data and settings. You can restore with any other computer, but you will lose everything on the iPad.
    Instructions can be found here.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1212
You will probably need to restore using Recovery Mode. You can read about it here.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4097
    Recovery Mode Instructions
Disconnect the USB cable from the iPad, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
Turn off iPad: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for iPad to turn off.
If you cannot turn off iPad using the slider, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the iPad turns off, release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.
While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to iPad. When you reconnect the USB cable, iPad should power on.
Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears you can release the Home button.
If necessary, open iTunes. You should see the recovery mode alert that iTunes has detected an iPad in recovery mode.
    Use iTunes to restore iPad.

    Many Thanks

Once you are downloading and installing the GPRS from your Service Provider you are subscribing the Packed Data. The full form of abbreviated GPRS = General Packed Data Radio Service. Your problem is a problem with "Configuration" in the Handset. All you need to select NO from PERSONAL CONFIGURATION SETTING by following the path : Main Menu>Settings>Configuaration>Personal Configuration Settings.
Input Data : Personal Account  : JAVA    click the java
    Home Page : www.google.co.in
    User Name : ppp
    Password : ppp123
Use Preferred access point : YES
NOW GO BACK TO CONNECTIVITY Menu item.
    Select : Packet  Data
CLICK THE ITEM    : PCKET DATA SETTING
Put against Active  Access Point : Data Bearer  Packet Data                                                         Put against the item 'Alias for access  point'  :  Data Bearer Packed Data.                                 Put against item 'PACKET DATA ACCESS POINT' :  gprseast.cellone.in

  • 6212 NFC & AT&T - Packet Data Problem

I have a Nokia 6212 Classic.  I just put an AT&T (california) sim chip in it for the first time.  Cell works, text works.  but Internet says "Must subscribe to packet data first".  I called at&t and they were not helpful (big surprise), all they could say is that i am subscribed.
Does anyone know what the packet data settings are to do it manually?  Cingular was wap.cingular
    Thanks!

 Go into Settings.  Go into Configuration.  Go into Personal Configuration Settings.  Now, press Add New (visible if you don’t have a previous Personal Setting created) or press the Options button. When you have pressed the Options button, choose Add new.  When you have pressed Add New, you will get a new menu, which will give several options to choose from.  Now, scroll down and choose the Access Point and press Select. (Please note that this option is not available on the Nokia 3220 model and maybe on some more models, you can instead use the Services option instead of the Access Point option on the Nokia 3220.) Do not choose the Web option, since this will not work with Opera mini.  Now go into Access Point Settings.  Go into Bearer Settings.  Go into Packet Data Access Point.  Now, enter you APN address corresponding to your provider. Then press OK.  Go back to the Personal Configurations Settings menu, where you now should be able to see an Access Point selected.  Now press the Options button, and then choose to activate this Access Point.  Now you should be able to start Opera Mini, and all other internet based applications.

  • C3-01 Packet Data explanation needed

Can someone explain how the packet data function works on the C3-01 and what all the submenus under the connectivity menu mean.  The manual does not cover any of this.  I only want to connect via WiFi and do not want the phone to be able to access or download any data via GSM at all.

When you have pressed the Options button, choose Add new.  When you have pressed Add New, you will get a new menu, which will give several options to choose from.  Now, scroll down and choose the Access Point and press Select. • 6021 Subscribe to packet data for Vodafone contrac...

Can anyone help me? I'm trying to get my Nokia 6021 to bluetooth connect to my HP Ipaq 2210. My phone is on a contract basis with Vodafone and I keep getting the error "please subscribe to packet data" when the two pieces of hardware connect. I can browse the web on my mobile but it will not allow my phone to connect to the IPAQ. Currently the active access point is set to "internet", which I think is incorrect but I don't know what else it should be!!? Vodafone have been no use!!! I'm running out of options. Thanks for any help.

I have the same problem attempting to connect with an iPAQ (hx4700) via a 8800 to GPRS and it constantly makes the bt connection, shows the big "G" top LHS for a short while and then gives error "packet data access point not valid". My Service Provider is O2.
The bluetooth connection seems fine, and I can successfully use my laptop with bluetooth via the 8800 to GPRS but I cannot figure out why on earth the iPAQ keeps provoking this error message on the Nokia 8800. Has anybody had the same trouble and found a solution?
FYI the PC Suite between the laptop and 8800 works fine (with the exception of MESSAGES which keep duplicating and for which i have given up trying to find a solution. Nokia is not much help.

  • Nokia Internet Radio unable to choose Packet Data ...

    Hi,
I have just downloaded the Nokia Internet Radio v1.04 to my N95 8GB (v20.0.0.16). It works fine over WLAN but doesn't even display the Packet Data access points (O2 Postpay WAP & O2 Postpay WAP) when I go to settings or when it starts up.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling but that hasn't cured it. I'm not sure how much data was deleted during the uninstallation though as the favourites I have added are still there even after the re-install!
Has anyone had a similar fault?
    Thanks
