E71 and Jabra BT2020

Hello!
There is probably a very simple answer to this question, but here goes-I have the above set up and all is well EXCEPT
for this:
whilst the headset is connected ,the phone's handset still rings and NOT the headset
I can make a call by dialling from the handset and that is very nice, but somehow its not much good if i dont know when calls are coming in .Not good at all!
Please could some kind clever person help me?
Thanks for looking:robothappy:

To follow up in this, I've tried everything I can think of and scoured the Internet besides, and nothing has worked. Strangely enough, when I keep the inbox fuller (I think I have something like 900 texts in there right now), it always receives the two-page texts. It makes no sense.
However, the rest of the phone has just continued to go downhill. Now not only do I not receive my calls half of the time, I also have terrible voice quality when making calls. My friends say they cannot hear me (as in sound just entirely cuts out for up to 45 seconds at a time) or it sounds like I'm either talking underwater or speaking through a voice changer set to Darth Vader mode =P. I'm giving up on this POS phone and tossing it as soon as I get money to buy a new one.

  • E71 and Jabra BT250v headset - phone reboots

I've tried to pair and use my old Jabra BT250v with my E71. After paired, both works correctly, but if I turn off BT250v and then on, the E71 reboots.
I've tried the same with my wife's N95, and got the same behaviour. I used this headset with several other phones including Nokia 6120 and E51, Motorola V3, Treo 650, and other people use same headset model with several other phones.
    Any clues?
    Thanks!

Thank you, I did go ahead and post there too, but have yet to receive any assistance.
Just got off the phone with both Jabra and Apple Care, neither can assist me but assure me it can connect. It does connect through parallels in Bootcamp, just can't figure out how to get it to opperate in XP PRO OS.
    Thanks for responding....

  • Syncing contacts between E71 and Outlook

    Hi there
I have a brand new E71, and a thing of joy it is. One small thing about PC Suite syncing though: there are numbers in the phone that just don't make it into my Outlook contacts. I have PC Suite version 7.0.8.2 and Outlook 2003, on a Windows XP laptop (HP model). I've copied all my SIM contacts to the phone memory, and done a resync... but there are still a small handful of contacts on the phone that contain a phone number - but the phone number simply does not appear in the corresponding contact in Outlook. I've done a couple of variations on syncing chanding the direction from phone to PC, and then from PC to phone, but that also seemed to make no difference. Searched all over the forum and the Nokia site for help, but to no avail.
It's irritating rather than mission critical but suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
And a second query: why do I get so many duplicates as a result of syncing - never used to happen with my 9300. Any way to stop it happening. I now have six or seven versions of some contacts both on the phone and in the Outlook contacts, and the only way I can see to fix it is manually, which will be a long and tedious process.
    Thank you for any help!

E71 firmware version 4.** Latest .PC Suite Version 7.1.40.1 PC Connectivity Solution: Version 9.45.0.0 Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver: Version 7.1.23.0 Operating system: Microsoft Windows XP 32-bit Edition, Service Pack 2 Language: English Language for non-Unicode programs: English Detected Bluetooth stacks: - Microsoft (Version: 5.1.2600, Build: 2180).
    I connect via Bluetooth.
The connection between the phone and PC is good. The contacts in PC suite are updated correctly.
Problem: New contacts in the E71 is not added to the contacts folder in Outlook 2007, It used to work. I think it stopped working after the PC suite update some time ago because that was the only change I remember. I rechecked settings in PC Sync and no change. I can see when the phone connects to PC Sync on the phone and in PC Sync. The changes just stay 0. I do make sure that keypad is locked and phone not in use when synchronizing. Its a great phone, please help.

  • E71 and Bluetooth for sync

    Hi,
I have a E71, and I am not able to connect to my PC through a Rocketfish USB Bluetooth adaptor. It uses  WIDCOMM 5.5.0.3900.
PC Suite does not see the phone, and the software coming with the USB adaptor does not see it either.
It works fine with the USB cable.

Hey,guy. I suggest you try google sync. It's very convenient. Look at this  link  which can help you finish the setup

  • E71 and Color Correction

I have noticed even with the new updated version firmware that when using the camera it still has a blue or purple tint and lacks sharpness.I preceded to http://mosh.nokia.com/content/4F546B0D59DD282DE040050A45300EA2 and D/l this file and installed on the E71.
I took two pictures using the normal camera on the E71 and the conditions were set that both images not use flash. The first image was taken in the living room by the door leading to the deck and the other image was taken in a room just using the overhead fixture.
I then preceded to using the installed program and went to camera-color correction and color corrected blue by adding yellow and increased the contrast slightly. I will add another post so that you might see Roomlight 1.jpg
You decide if its better or worse and i also noticed and using the installed program that the file size just about doubled.

  • E71 and Handling of realplayer .SMIL file extensio...

Trying to use my Nokia E71 to listen to content on Ireland's Radio stations at :
    http://www.rte.ie/radio/
There is an option there to listen to the content in Realplayer (as Windows Media isn't supported on E71 or other Nokia devices that I know of).
If you chose one of the stations, it will redirect to a link such as this:
    http://www.rte.ie/radio/liveplayer2_av.html?1_real,http://dynamic.rte.ie/av/live/radio/radio1.smil,r...
It won't play because it wants an IE plugin of some sort (Flash or Quicktime) on my PC. There is an option there to "Play In StandAlone Player" and when I chose that with my PC, the web site hands out a file with an extension of .SMIL (realplayer file of some sort).
I can go to the same link on my E71 browser and If I save that .SMIL file to my E71 and then open that file using the built in File Manager it shows me the content of the .SMIL file and one of the URLs in there is:
    src="rtsp://live2.rte.ie/redundant/lyrical.ra"
and that is automatically highlighted (like the File Manager knows it is a URL). When I click on and launch that URL, it launches RealPlayer and the stream plays just fine. It seems that E71 Web Browser and/or the Operating System just needs a little code added to it to properly handle .SMIL file extensions. Is this something that can be fixed by Nokia to help me and others?
    Thank you for your time.
    Jeff

Thank you for confirming that other Nokias have the same problem. Again, when you open the .SMIL file, the internal contents of the file are correct, but only a part. Nokia would have to look at the .SMIL formatted file and extrac the necessary information to pass to the Operating System to launch the Real Player. Can't imagine that it would be difficult to do, but apparently they haven't seen fit to do so. Kind of like they haven't done a number of other things (in all fairness, they have done some decent things, but just not enough to have kept up with others).
Oh well, I guess I can just hang on to the E71 until time to purchase something that starts with "And" and ends with "roid" !

  • My brand new E71 and my disappointments, please he...

    Hello,
I just purchased a brand new E71, the US version. I've been playing with it the past few days and I'm not very happy with it. I primarily bought the phone for e-mail/WEB, GPS & maps. However, I'm seeing the following issues:
1- My first and foremost problem is the GPS lock times. No matter where I am, downtown Boston with a lot of buildings, or suburban Massachusetts with no buildings around and clear view of the sky in all directions, E71 takes a long time (5+ minutes) to get the first position. I find this simply unacceptable. Are there any other e71 users out here? What are your experiences? Are there any settings that I need to change (positioning server, etc)? In the settings, currently all the GPS positioning methods are enabled, including AGPS. But even without AGPS, shouldn't I be getting a lock quickly if I don't have any obstructions in the sky (tall buildings, etc)? My experience with iPhone GPS has been so much better.
2- WLAN connections appear to be very slow during web surfing. Again my comparison is with an iPhone. I've tried connecting an iPhone and E71 to the same WLAN network and load up a few web pages. There was no comparison, the iPhone killed my E71 in all cases This was very disappointing. Is there a web page or an application that can help me measure my phones download/upload speed in my WLAN at home?
I have not been able to get past the above two issues during the past week and I'd appreciate help and advice. I had high hopes for this device (been a Nokia fan for 15+ years now), but I'll have to return this if I can't get past these issues.
    Sincerely

I have an E71-2, and I can tell you two things.
    1) The GPS in this device is very unstable.  In fact, mine never worked, but I bought this phone in US and I live in Venezuela, so try to send it to warranty exchange is a little expensive (and/or time-consuming).  I prefer to buy a $40 external GPS, has better reception than ANY internal GPS in any phone, and works in the E71 and in my laptop I know it's a matter of taste, some people prefer to have the GPS in-device, but I see that the integrated GPS in any phone is worse than any external GPS.  I compared mine with the external GPS against an E71 side-to-side, and the difference was: mine: 9-10 satellites locked, the E71 using internal GPS: 6.Precision in mine was 8 meters (CLEP at 90%) while internal GPS was 20-30 meters (Nokia doesn't inform about the CLEP)
    2) The WLAN issues could be solved via a firmware update.  I remember I had the 110 version and is not as stable as now (I'm still using the 210 version).  I tested against a BB Pearl and the difference is incredible... The BB is still connecting to RIM's server, while my E71 is already playing a video via Flash Lite 3.
Concluding: do a firmware update.  The GPS? Forget it... or buy a external inexpensive GPS, you will note the difference

  • Nokia E71 and NMT Bookmark synchronization

    Hi,
I just got a brand new E71 and using a Mac 10.5.4. Whenever I connect the device to my mac, it says sending bookmarks and after sending NMT throws up a message : The following bookmarks transfers errors have occurred. If the error is not permanent, you can try starting the transfers again
    Nokia E71 Internal Synchronization Error.
Tried removing NMT completely from the hard drive.
Downloaded a fresh copy of NMT from the Web.
    Updated NMT.
    Tried again with no go.
Very disappointed at this stage, thinking that E71 will work with the mac with no issues . :-(
    cheers,

OK- I just noticed that the synchronization issue is fixed (mysteriously)on my WM6 device. Remember it also had sync issues today and now I have a lighting fast sync rate. Sounds like a MS issue(?) I will try my Nokia when I get home. Keeping my fingers crossed.
Tonight when I got home I popped my SIM into the E71. Since I deleted the program I needed to re load it from Download!.I got an error that read: IM/Messenger download file is corrupted. It would NOT let me download Windows Live from (Download!). SO I loaded my old version of Messenger/Windowslive Version 1.1.8161 and It works perfectly. Don't know what to say about that....
Now I'm festering about the whole signal strength issue when you hold your hand over the back cover-Surely we all knew about this problem...Gotta love It.

  • Iphone4 and Jabra will not pair

I bought new Iphone 4 and picked a Jabra Wave headset. It recognizes the Jabra, comes up with Not paired. I touch that message
on the bluetooth screen and i then says connected.  I push answer button to make a call for 1 second on head set and it comes back and voice says "Connected" but speak recognition does not come on. I hold the button until I hear a beep and then the voice recognition comes on and works like crap if at all. Next time I hold the button until I hear the beep it then goes into some mode with flashing blue light. The chance of getting voice recognition is about 50/50
I have followed all the directions without success. I tried the tech repair at the verizon store and they were clueless. They gave me a new one and it is the same problem
The only thing I can figure is the Jabra Wave is not compatible with iphone 4 even though they say it is.
    Rob

The issue may be with the Bluetooth headset. If you have another Bluetooth headset try pairing it with your iPhone and see if that works. Below I have provided the pairing instructions for the iPhone and Jabra Wave.
Step 1 - Enable Bluetooth functionality on the iPhone 4
From the Home screen, select Settings.
    Select General
    Select Bluetooth
    Set Bluetooth to On
Step 3 - Pair the iPhone 4 with a Bluetooth Accessory
With Bluetooth power on, from the Home screen, select Settings
    Select General
    Select Bluetooth
Choose the device on iPhone, and enter its passkey or PIN number, normally 0000 or 1234
For additional assistance with your Bluetooth pairing, click here.

  • E71 and the Email

I have been looking on the internet but I cant find the answer. I am looking to replace my 3G iPhone and I really like the E71. So before I go and spend $400+ I do have a question about the email functions on E71.
Will I be able to set up .Mac account on my E71. Can I have more than one account on and will my email be PUSH mail?

I have a .Mac account (now Mobileme) and the answer is yes - however, the best solution is to create a Nokia email account at https://email.nokia.com/account/home.action
This is not a new email address - but rather lets you setup 6 email addresses - including Mobileme (Mac) and have them all "pushed" to the E71. It will not currently work however with Hotmail. I currently have Gmail & my Mac account "pushed" through this free service and it works fine.
You will be sent a link once subscribed to install the required software on the E71 and then off you go - easy and a simple solution.

  • E71 and bluetooth/FM wired headset concurrently

    Hi all...
I want to listen to an FM radio through the bluetooth headset. So is it possible to connect the wired headset (as an antenna only) and also turn on the bluetooth to get the radio and phone calls through it? alternatively has anyone had any experience on the E71 with one of those rare bluetooth headsets that have a built in FM radio in them?  will the E71 fully support radio and mp3 operation with such a gadget? (mp3 from the E71 and FM radio switchable from the bluetooth).
Requiring I guess full A2DP support or suchlike...
    http://shop.brando.com/prod_detail.php?prod_id=02605
    Thanks

Hi, I was intrigued with the first part of your question that I did not think of it first since I have both a bluetooth headset and the original wired headset.. so I will do this when I reach home and tell you if it works...
as for the 2nd part of your question, I would think that the bluetooth you mentioned is the one having the radio transceiver and that it is using that instead of your phone radio...  I would guess that because I also have a FM/AM headset, albeit wired, and it has its own transceiver...  so you have to ask the maker of that particular headset for the capability...  I guess you could ask whether, if you are listening to radio on the headset, could you still accept calls along the way (my bet is you can)...  if so, then you can use it on your e71...
    -> 3210 -> 8210 -> 8350 -> 6600 -> n80ie -> e71

  • E71 and send/receiving faxes

    Hello,
I like to send and receive faxes with my canon pixma mx850 using the e71 so without any pc and without internet and any landline. Is there a way to do that? What software do I need?
So the use cases are these:
    sending
    1. I put some documents in the sheetfeeder of the canon pixma mx850 allinone
    2. The scanned documents is sent to the e71
    3. The e71 is sending the faxes via gsm to another fax
    4. The e71 detects confirmation and that all is received and status is ok
    5. The canon pixma mx850 is creating a tx fax report with copy fax (the same as with landline faxing)
    receiving
    1. If someone sends a fax to my e71 it is stored on my e71 and a status ok is send back to sender
    2. I can print the faxes when I connect to the canon pixma mx850
So the only thing that should be different is that gsm radiowaves are used instead of copper wires.
The thought behind this is that I can cancel my landline subscription at my provider. The only reason that I have a landline is for sending and receiving faxes.
    Grtz,
    Dave

As for performing the fax function then I'm not sure if service providers are starting to phase that function out.
I know it relies on a Fax type call in Circuit Switched Data, this function is now pretty much disabled by all service providers. I know O2 UK doesn't handle Circuit Switched Data anymore (at least for consumers)
    Shunts...
I will mostly be communicating with a Nokia E72 Zodium Black
Nokia E72-1 with Vr 051.018.207.04 Software
If this post helped... Add some kudos!!

    Hello Kerrigaj,
After a re-install of OS X 10.5.8 uninstalled the E71 in iSync and moved it out of the bluetooth-device list first and completely re-installed it using the bluetooth manager (SystemPreferences/Hardware).
No extra thirdparty-software involved and ever since no problems.
Goodluck - hope it works for you.

I have a Skoda Fabia II with a manufaturer built-in speakerphone. It worked well when connectetd with bluetooth to a Nokia 6288. Now I have an E71 and get following errors:
1.)The phonebook displayed in the car is ordered by firstname, surname instead of surname, firstname and
    2.) the phonenumbers are displayed e.g. xxExxxxNxxxxxx instead of xx(xxxx)xxxxxx e.g. 49E89N8581... means +49(89)8581...
Has anyone an idea, how to fix this?
    Regards

This one is driving me mad - I think it is worse on the new firmware. I want to go back.
When I first start my phone, DUN is on channel 4... after ???? happends it used to move to 2. And it was usable....
NOW it moves to 3 and is not usable. I have to reboot the thing.
If I wanted to reboot my phone all the time I would have bought a winmobile device.
And headset/stereo sound support is very **bleep**.
    **bleep** **bleep** **bleep**.
(And why is the RF antenae in the bottom of the phone? What moron thought that was a good idea?)
How could they ruin such a beautiful thing?!!!!

  • E71 and Hotmail\WinLive

    Hi,
I just received my E71 and am loving it except for I cant send any emails via hotmail
I have set up my Exchange for windows to get my work emails, and using Windows Live I have setup my hotmail account. I am able to synch both accounts and receive emails with no problems.
However I can not send emails from my Hotmail account, just says failed all the time.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

    Hi,
There is one work around to send hotmail.. Go to Contacts.. Select "Windows Live" option there, and choose any of the contact. Then goto Options and choose "Send E-mail". Then you will get a blank email, with just the "To" filled up with the contact selected. This can be edited, and then send the mail as usual. Agreed, its cumbersome .. expecting nokia or Microsoft to provode a good solution! In the mean while, got to "live" with these
