I could not copy text to clipboard from
- Web page, html readers,
- Web feed reader
- Email reader. (if I choose reply or forward, then I can copy text)
How to do it?
is almighty E71 unable to do it?

U can not even copy link on html reader or
email address from email reader.
How can Nokia make such a mistake?
I think the Nokia programmers are aliens from other planet!!!

Reader: retry upon error copying text to clipboard

Dear Adobe,
since years I'm seeing the same behaviour on different machines: I select text in a PDF opened in Reader, hit ctrl+c and once upon maybe every 5 occasions a window pops up "an error occured while copying the data to the clipboard". I click "OK", press ctrl+c again and it works.
Here's my feature request: if such an error happens, simply try a second time for yourself before bothering the user. Obviously don't turn this into an endless loop if there's a real problem. but since it usually works the 2nd time, the error can't be severe.
BTW: I have no idea if this forum is the right place to post such product enhancement suggestions, but I failed to find any other way.

OCR - Optical Character Recognition was performed on this document, which was originally scanned as an image. Unfortunately it was originally scanned at a low resolution, and that led to many many many characters being "misread" by the OCR engine.
This is a common mistake when people scan documents. Most scanners are setup for scanning pictures, and they neglect to change the settings when scanning text documents, or just use Acrobat to scan the document and do the OCR in the process. Unfortunately, it's "broken" from a copying standpoint, and a conversion standpoint as well, since the converter will make a Word document with the available text, which as you can see... is pure gibberish.

Append copyright text to copied text in clipboard

Is it possible in RH6 to append a copyright string to the
text that a user has just copied to the clipboard, so that when
they paste it, they get the text they copied, plus the copyright
string? The old WinHelp application that I am converting to HTML
help had this feature - I believe the old project was authored in
RoboHelp, but have no idea on how they included the copyright
string. I haven't found anything in the help that references
functionality like this, nor have I found anything online.

Javascript or function to copy text to clipboard in Acrobat forms

Hello, I have a docuement that has a set of SQL procedures listed as text files. These procedures spread over many pages and there are often errors copying the text into SQL.
Ideally, a button to copy a set of text to clipboard is the best solution - I haven't had any luck finding a Javascript to do this, nor can I see how to. Can anyone point me in the right direction please?

That you can't do. You need to select the text by hand.
There is an option to select text in the document using a script, but you
can only select one word at a time using it.

E71: Displaying text message naming inverted from ...

Hi,
I did see a thread about this some time ago, but I can't find it with a search.
My address book is set to be firstname -> lastname, eg: "Bob Smith"
However when I get a text message from Bob Smith, I get a message from "Smith, Bob".
Is there a way to make the text message naming layout conform to the contacts application behaviour of first name, last name.

Not that I know of. The setting in Contacts does not affect Messaging, and Messaging does not have its own setting for this.

Possible to copy text to clipboard through script?

I'm currently creating a temporary textPath and copying that to the clipboard with the app.copy() method. Is there a way to just simply copy the text directly to the clipboard rather than having to do it through copying an object?

Im not a fan of scripting the clipboard what do you need to to this for?

How can I copy text from Pages and paste as Unicode?

I notice that if I write a Pages document on my iMac (this is Pages 09 running under OSX Mavericks 10.9.1) and copy text that contains characters from the "Mac Roman" character set (like the Greek letter pi for example, and some other mathematical symbols), if I paste it into a text file on a PC (I'm running the Mac with Windows via Parallels), then these characters don't show up correctly. If they were copied as Unicode characters then I don't think the problem would exist. I thought that Pages used Unicode, but it doesn't apparently apply to stuff that gets onto the Mac clipboard. I do know that if I export a whole Pages document it is possible for it to be exported in Unicode, but I just want to copy small bits of text like mathematical formulae and paste them into Unicode-compliant applications. Is this possible? There's nothing in the Pages Preferences to suggest that it is. Is there any solution to this?

Tom, I'm sorry I think I have wasted your time. My initial experiments seemed to show that what I was trying to do didn't work, but now it all seems to work. No idea why. I think there is a problem somewhere, but not where I thought it was. I think what may be happening is that when the Mac clipboard sees some Mac Roman text, it converts and stores it in Unicode form, so things work as long as the receiving app is Unicode aware - or Parallels is doing the job for me, or Pages is. Good if this is true. The only issue then would be that, if a program for the PC is looking for characters by their encodings, it will have to use the Unicode ones to find things, whereas the equivalent code on a Mac will have to look for the Mac Roman encodings as well as Unicode.
Just to explain, I am not using a specialised mathematical formula editor, but I do expect my user to use the math symbols easily accessible on the Mac keyboard, particularly the Greek letter pi (lower case), division sign, less than or equal to, greater than or equal to, square root. The user can type text directly or paste it in from another application. On the PC side I am not using Microsoft Word but a program I'm developing that can create fields into which I can put text, similar I suppose to NotePad. Just to be able to be cross-platform, I expect users to use the built-in Windows Character Viewer or similar to make the same symbols accessible as in the Mac version.
If everyone was using Unicode the problem (if there is one) wouldn't exist.
I may well come back with a similar issue in the future, but my original issue, although the description was given in good faith, seems to be wrong. So I'm saying the problem is solved.

Once you have selected text, there will be blue circular buttons on the corners. Get the ones on the end and move them in towards the text that you want to copy. The problem that you seem to be facing where you are is that this text is a hyperlink. Because of that reason, you will have a difficult time tapping on the text without activating the link. I'm not sure you will be able to do that.

You can also try this, especially if you've got the Text Inspector and the Color Picker open already.
Select the text to be colored (note that if the text is already multiple different colors the swatch under Color & Alignment section of the Text Inspector still only shows one out of the several)
Find the color you want in the Color Picker
Click and drag from the Color Picker into the swatch under Color & Alignment in the Text Inspector
That will also change all the selected text to the chosen color.
Also, regarding web safe colors, that SHOULD come as a part of the Color Picker. With the Color Picker open, select the third icon at the top (If you mouse over it, it should indicate Color Palettes. Click the popup menu button and you should see Web Safe Colors as one of the choices. With this and the Text Inspector open, you can drag and drop your way to identical colors in no time!
That same drag and drop trick works for text on the slide as well. If you just created a bit of text and you want to apply a color, scroll until you find the color you want, then drag and drop over to the text (it will highlight in blue showing you what you're about to color).

Copying text from pdf, "square" characters

Using SQL 2005 standard edition.
I have an issue with pdf generated reports. When copying text from the pdf (from a cell in a table row) the characters are just pasted as "squares" into notepad\word etc. Each character is just a small square. I am using Arial font and not doing anything outside of the norm. This is also an inconsistent problem, it doesnt happen on all cells\tables but only on particular ones. Could it be data specific?

It is not data specific but the format specific. There are many similar issues commonly encountered. The reason is that the format in the clipboard cannot be well recognized by notepad or word. You can refer to this article:

From which you can read:"Microsoft Word does not directly support conversion from Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF). PDF is the format in which documents are saved for viewing and exchange in the Adobe Acrobat Reader and Adobe Acrobat Exchange for Windows."
For those words if you could not copy/paste successfully, you may use some tools from Adobe company to extract the data from PDF file to some recognized format such as HTML. I know that there is a tool which can do this conversion:

How can I copy text from PDF and include the source filename in the pasted selection?

I'm a biologist and frequently cut-and-paste notes from PDFs of scientific articles. I name all of the PDF articles with their PubMed ID, a short unique identifier (e.g. 19397482.pdf). When I take notes, I will select a few sentences from the PDF and then paste them into a text editor for later reference.
Can anyone suggest a method or script that would allow me to paste the copied text with the Pubmed filename included in a single action? I would want the pasted output it to look something like this, with the filename appended to the end:

How do I copy text from one layer to another?

I have Googled this but not a single answer seems to work.
I am using Photoshop CS4 on OS X 10.6.7.
OK, so I have a layer that has some text in it. I would like to be able to simply copy that text from one layer to another, but this seems to be impossible as the Edit Paste menu item is grayed out after I have copied it in to the clipboard. I can paste it into the SAME layer, but not into another layer.
This is how I am trying to do this.
In the layer with the text, click on the "T" icon to the left.
Click on the text, in the layer that I want to copy.
I select the text (either by clicking and dragging or pressing Command-A).
Next I press Command-C.
Then I click on the layer In the Layer Panel) where I want to paste the text.
Pressing Command-V is impossible because the Edit-Paste menu option is grayed out!!!!
WHY??????

First thing you can simply right click on the Text Layer and choose Duplicate Layer. But that will create a new Text Lay
er identical to the one you have.
To answer your question in your case.... Create the Text Layer. Make a New Layer. Or have the layer you want to paste into visible.
Highlight the text layer in the Layer Palette and Ctrl+Click (Win) Cmd+Click(Mac) so that you see marching ants walking around your text.
Edit>Copy.
Then highlight your Layer you want to paste into and hit Edit>Paste or Cmd+V / Ctrl+V.

We've tried with "Popup to Decide List" and "Popup for Reuse components".
Do you know if is possible to copy text from a POP-UP Windows in CRM WUI 7.0?
We also have tried to export text to the clipboard using:

Can not copy text from AI CC or AI6 in to the file name

I have an AI file with 80+ UPC codes that I need to separate in to individual files. Each UPC has a descriptor but when I copy the text and then try to paste it as file name it will not paste. I use this same process regularly in InDesign when I design print ads. Each print ad has a unique item number that prints with the copyright line so I simply copy and paste that information when I do the save.
Under File Handling and Clipboard both PDF and AICB are on. I've tried this in AICC and AICS6. I also tried different files. Same issue. Any suggestions? I really don't want to have to type 80 some descriptions which are very lengthy.

I can not copy the text from Illustrator in to any OS X application/function (filename, Mail, Text Edit, ect). I can copy in to InDesign, Photoshop, Flash, and other other Adobe product. I can copy in to Word as well. I guess my work around will be Word.
And the opposite is true. I can copy text from any other Adobe application to any OS X application/function with no issues.
I guess my work around will be to OCR the text from Acrobat and open in Word. The descriptors have to be 100% accurate and some of them are pretty long.
