E71 Hangs During Call Reception

I purchased my Nokia E-71 about three months ago. I expected this phone to be up to par since it is considered an "Enterprise" phone. This my second firmware upgrade. My phone's current version is 200.21.118. To my surprise it hangs during call reception. It totally freezes; even the red power on/off button is not functional. The only resort is to unplug the battery and plug it back on. It's very exasperating to lose a business call, especially if it was an international one.
I call on Nokia to listen and pay attention to their customers and be responsible before it get deserted.

I understand your feelings but this is a user to user forum. There is no guarantee that your concerns will be seen by Nokia here and you will certainly not get a reply from them.
If you wish to contact them, you should use the "Contact us" tab on the top right hand corner of this screen.
With regards your problem, if it only started after the update then it is most probably a software issue which we would hope to help you resolve. We just have to go through a process of elimination, starting with the most likely and least disruptive.  Whatever you do, always remember to backup your data just in case.

  • E71 hangs when call answered

    Hi Nokians,
A moment ago, when I click "green" key to answer a call, my E71 hangs (No backgroud application is running)
E71 is a great device but as days go by, more and more issue happened (refer below).
I cannot accept a phone that hangs when answering a call. It does not improve my productivity at all. My previous Treo 680 had the same problem, that is why I switched to E61i, and now E71.
To Nokia: you better improve! Cause E71 may be my last phone from Nokia.
    List of bugs
    1. Active Notes does not appear when call is make to the linked contact
    2. GPS not able to lock to satellite, and display current location on map (solved by changing the positioning server to supl.nokia.com)
    3. I connect to the email account and retrieve emails, the application shut down and returns to the home screen.
    4. I have 2 e-mail mailboxes, the 2nd mailbox disappeared when auto-retrieval is turned on, all e-mails are lost!
    5. Unable to terminate/hang-up when called number is busy (partially solved if automatic redial is diabled) or when an incoming call ends.
    6. When set powersaver to "None", when the screen goes to power save mode, it display a time. The time stops at that moment. And will no tick at all.
    7. Automatic Retrieval > E-Mail notifications > only in home network . When I open an incoming SMS, a warning message appeared, "Messaging: Memeory Full. Close some applications and try again." . I checked my phone's memory, it has 95MB free memory. I need to disable E-mail notifications, then only I am able to open an incoming SMS.
    8. The recent call list (in, out and missed) shows all icons as "mobile" despite the number is a telephone number.
    9. I am not able to enable both
    - Automatic retrieval > E-mail notifications
    - Automatic retrieval > E-mail retrieval
E71 only allows either one of the above to be enabled
    10. Sometimes, E71 will hang when answering a call.

  • Thread hang during call EJB 3.0 with Weblogic 10.3 (Urgent)

    Hello,
We have a java client application call Weblogic Appserver 10.3, EJB 3.0 Service. Occasionally, client application, some step will get hang when try to invoking EJB. When we restart the application server and re-run the client application, it may work or hang on any other step. (Totally, we have around 40 steps to invoking EJB service)
We did check Google and find similar issue happen on the IBM Websphere appserver. They post a patch to fix this issue (http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=180&uid=swg1PK74719), but not Weblogic.
Is there any Weblogic expert who can help me to solve this issue?
I have attached two thread dumps (different steps) when they got hang.
    Appreciate your quick help.
    Best wishes,
    Feelyn

  • Iphone 5 hangs during call being dialed

    hello
i am iphone 5 user in India.
the problem that i am facing is that sometimes my iphone drops the call.
the detailed situation is like this when i dial someone's number, iphone says on its screen "Calling" ; but in reality the call never gets connected.
even after few minutes iphone is stuck on the same screen.
and then if you press call end button on it , iphone says "Call Ending..."
and then it is stuck on this Call Ending screen and never comes out.
i contacted the customer care of Apple India and they referred this issue as an iOS 7 bug. and told me to wait as a new update will fix this issue. and also advised me to visit the service centre.
i visited the service centre their too i was conveyed the same message.
then after this two or three updates came from apple and none of them fixed my issue.
so again contacted customer service and spoke to some senior manager.
he took a quick diagnostic test of my iphone and told me that out of 100% ; 3% calls were dropped due to network carrier and 2% calls were dropped by the device itself.
and the strange thing is that instead of focusing on calls dropped due to device he literally did not let me say anything as if he was in a argument with me and just wanted to win it that discussion, kept on saying sir we are sorry the problem is due to the network carrier so please contact them.
I must say he was one stubborn employee who did not wanted to resolve the issue.
    And till date my issue is not resolved;
I am using iPhone 5 on iOS 7.0.4

Just dial Write "*#31#".... it worked for me....

  • Proximity sensor/screen issue during call

My screen goes black during call as normal
But the screen can still register touches
This made me end call(via my face)several times!
    Anyone else with similar issues?

    Cheers

    Sony
    Sony
Sony hang your head in shame appalling customer service even Htc do it better some calls to pick it up and brings it back fixed
No money to pay on my part
Will never buy another Sony product until customers come first

  • E71 hangs intermittently + external speaker crackl...

I've had my e71-1 for only a couple of months now and noticed that it randomly hangs during menu navigation and especially when either trying to make a call or ending a call (most noticeable when 'number busy' is displayed). It can take at least 5-10 seconds for the phone to respond at which point it suddenly cycles through multiple functions due to me having pressed various buttons to try to get it to respond during the hang.
I have tried two different firmware versions (400.21.013 and 410.21.010; I'm currently using the latter) and this phenomenon occurs on both. I have not installed any additional apps/games. And the phone has loads of onboard memory still free as well as the 8GB memory card that is encrypted despite being virtually empty.
I am at a loss trying to get this problem resolved. It's quite annoying saying 'goodbye' to a person and then you can't end the call immediately. I've done a forum search but have not found any way to fix this.
Moreover and totally unrelated (I think), there seems to be something wrong with the external speaker on the phone. When I navigate around the menus, the beeps emitted are often crackly. This can also occur when I receive confirmation beeps. Despite this, the quality of the speaker is actually good when it works. The phone hasn't been exposed to any water or even out in the rain so this surely is a build problem?

Is this to solve the hanging problem or the crackling speaker?
Surely the hanging problem is a firmware one, what can the service centre do different to what I have done?
I can, however, understand taking the phone to the service centre to fix the speaker. But it seems that this is quite a common problem with e71 phones, see: /t5/Eseries-Devices-and/E71-distorted-keypad-tones/td-p/509579

  • Cannot adjust volume during calls on iPhone 6 (using EarPods)

I cannot adjust my volume on the iPhone 6 during the call on the EarPods. I can only adjust volume while the call is ringing or before a call, but once the person picks up, neither the phone's buttons or EarPods would adjust volume. It's once when I hang up and my music starts playing again, the music blasts my ear from the volume change I did (during the call).
The volume button works fine during calls when I don't use any earphones.
Is there a way to fix this?

    Good Afternoon lopakamac,
If you are having trouble hearing a conversation on your iPhone, try the following steps:
If you can't hear a person on a call or voicemail or if the sound quality is poor on iPhone - Apple Support
    http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT203800
    Turn up the volume
While you're on a call, adjust the volume with the volume buttons:
Also while you're on a call, make sure that you can see the volume indicator on the screen when you press the volume buttons:
    Check the connections
If your iPhone is connected to a headset, you won't be able to hear through the iPhone receiver or using speakerphone. Follow these steps, testing after each.
Make sure that you don't have anything plugged in to the headphone jack or the dock connector.
Go to Settings > Bluetooth and turn off Bluetooth.
    Clear the receiver
The iPhone receiver won't work properly if it's blocked or dirty. Here's where the receiver is:
Follow these steps, testing after each:
Make sure nothing is blocking the receiver, such as a case or film.
If you have a new iPhone, remove the plastic film on the front and back of the device.
Check the receiver opening to see if it's blocked or dirty. If necessary, clean the receiver opening with a clean, small, dry, soft-bristled brush.
While you're on a call, turn on speakerphone. If you still can't hear, then your network or reception could be the issue. Try calling again later or from a different location.
    Restart and update
Restart your iPhone and test again.
If there's still no sound or poor sound quality, update to the latest version of iOS.
    Get more help
If you've tried these steps and there's still no sound or poor sound quality from your iPhone, contact Apple Support.

  • IPhone 5c IOS7.0.3, other people can no longer hear me during calls unless I tap into speaker mode and back?

    Hi,
I'm currently using an iPhone 4S, but my partner has just bought an iPhone 5c. A while ago, before the IOS7 upgrade, my phone would for some reason act as if I had clicked mute during calls. Nobody would hear me, but I could hear them perfectly. The only fixes were to hang up and recall them back, or to switch it to speaker mode and back again. Very annoying. However, after updating my IOS, it suddenly stopped doing this. It was fixed, I was happy, game on.
But recently, my partners phone which was working perfectly fine before the new IOS7.0.3 update, has developed this problem. Exact same issue, exact same solution. I wouldn't mind so much, but shes bought this phone in the last month, its a brand new phone, new software, new model... It shouldn't still be doing this! Whats worse is that when driving, its very dangerous for her to have to keep switching between speaker and not just to get her phone working. (She drivers with the phone in a cradle with hands free on).
This issue is... Annoying. I've found that its not exactly a rare thing, and that a lot of people have had it for quite a while, but the only solution I've seen is to open the back of your phone and cover a certain part with paper/cardboard... Not exactly what we want to do is it.
Does anybody have any advice or a solution to this, as I'm going a little crazy trying to reset everything and fix it!
    Thanks in advance!

Same issues here. Sometimes during outgoing calls, people cannot hear me at all, even when the signal strength is good. Only solution is to soft reset the phone. A couple of times the person could hear me for the first few seconds of the call then it dropped completely.
I also experience the issue with the 3G data as you described (I think they are related... i.e., when the 3G data isn't working, the issues with outgoing calls exists too). The phone will just randomly seem to lose it's internet connection, even with full signal strength. Soft reset/toggling airplane mode fixes this.
I called Apple support; they asked if I was covering the microphone during outgoing calls (as if I'm that stupid). Come on Apple, I have a University degree in Computer Engineering, don't insult my intelligence! They then asked me to restore the phone (which I already did). Next solution they offered me was to replace the phone by sending me a new one first (at a cost of $35), or I could send it back and be phoneless for a week while they send a new one (which is not an option for me). I also put on a $30 Invisibile Sheild so if I exchange it, I already lose that. I believe the issue is not with the hardware, since the microphone seems to work just fine. Given that it is intermittent like this, it seems there's a software/firmware error somewhere that gets the phone into a bad state.
Very disappointed that the $800 phone I just bought functions worse for phone calls than the Nokia brick I had 8 years ago.
If anyone has a permanent solution for this that doesn't involve exchanging the phone, please let me know.

    Hello!
I recently was recommended Arch by a friend, and after I followed the 'Newbies Guide' and burning a live CD to install Arch with, it appears to hang during Live CD boot at "installing uevents."
I am trying to install Arch as a dual boot on a late 2008 MacBook Pro which is currently running x64 Windows 7. I have plenty of HD space (100gb free and 100gb unallocated to install Arch onto).
    Here is a picture:

I get the same error weather I try to install x64 or i686 (I think that's what it's called). Is there any reason for this?
    Thank you!

  • Sessions/connections gets hang during update and select operations.

A table with 3 million records, which has customer details data.
Everyday application is executing select and update queries on that table.
Sessions/connections gets hang during update and select operations.
After checking ADDM report, following are the findings:
    Please suggest the solutions
    Findings and Recommendations
    Finding 1: Row Lock Waits
Impact is 145.22 active sessions, 99.77% of total activity.
SQL statements were found waiting for row lock waits.
    Recommendation 1: Application Analysis
Estimated benefit is 145.22 active sessions, 99.77% of total activity.
    Action
Significant row contention was detected in the TABLE
"AVAYA.AIRTEL_CUSTOMER_MASTER" with object ID 82155. Trace the cause of
row contention in the application logic using the given blocked SQL.
    Related Object
    Database object with ID 82155.
    Rationale
The SQL statement with SQL_ID "974vg65j29pmv" was blocked on row locks.
    Related Object
    SQL statement with SQL_ID 974vg65j29pmv.
    UPDATE AVAYA.AIRTEL_CUSTOMER_MASTER SET PREFERRED_LANGUAGE = :1
    WHERE ( AIRTEL_CUSTOMER_MASTER.MSISDN = :2 )
    Rationale
The session with ID 50 and serial number 34525 in instance number 1 was
the blocking session responsible for 100% of this recommendation's
    benefit.
Symptoms That Led to the Finding:
Wait class "Application" was consuming significant database time.
Impact is 145.22 active sessions, 99.77% of total activity.
    Finding 2: Top SQL Statements
Impact is 46.39 active sessions, 31.87% of total activity.
SQL statements consuming significant database time were found. These
statements offer a good opportunity for performance improvement.
    Recommendation 1: SQL Tuning
Estimated benefit is 46.39 active sessions, 31.87% of total activity.
    Action
Investigate the UPDATE statement with SQL_ID "974vg65j29pmv" for
possible performance improvements. You can supplement the information
given here with an ASH report for this SQL_ID.
    Related Object
    SQL statement with SQL_ID 974vg65j29pmv.
    UPDATE AVAYA.AIRTEL_CUSTOMER_MASTER SET PREFERRED_LANGUAGE = :1
    WHERE ( AIRTEL_CUSTOMER_MASTER.MSISDN = :2 )
    Rationale
The SQL spent only 0% of its database time on CPU, I/O and Cluster
waits. Therefore, the SQL Tuning Advisor is not applicable in this case.
Look at performance data for the SQL to find potential improvements.
    Rationale
Database time for this SQL was divided as follows: 100% for SQL
execution, 0% for parsing, 0% for PL/SQL execution and 0% for Java
    execution.
    Rationale
SQL statement with SQL_ID "974vg65j29pmv" was executed 212 times and had
an average elapsed time of 2494 seconds.
    Rationale
Waiting for event "enq: TX - row lock contention" in wait class
"Application" accounted for 100% of the database time spent in
processing the SQL statement with SQL_ID "974vg65j29pmv".

  • Speaker mode is full of static during calls

My iphone 6 iOS8.0.3 has speaker phone problems. When the phone is in speaker mode and this is only during phone calls, the sound is full of static. This also occurs when my phone is in bluetooth mode during calls. I can play music just fine. Weird.

I went to the Apple Store and they reset the firmware and restored the phone as well.  I am still having the issues. They said the phone was fine and to keep using it for a week.  If there were still issues then to come back and they would run another test to see if the phone was picking up any issues with the reception.  The guy that helped me said that his phone sometimes has an echo for a couple of days and then it goes away.  I am wondering if it is a problem with Rogers.  I am interested to see that you are having similar issues. The static when it comes is a little annoying. It must be a software issue.

  • Z10 shuts down during call

    Hi,
My z10 simply shuts down during calls. Cuts the call without any advertisement and then the Blackberry name and loading blackberry logo appears. Happened 4 times in a row. Please advise how this can be fixed.
    Thanks

    Hi there,
I am not sure about the logic behind this, but one of the solutions I found in a forum was to replace the sim. I had cut my normal sim to micro sim size myself and was facing frequent shutdowns (2 or 3 times a day). SOmetimes it used to restart, sometimes just shut down and I had to start it up again.
I just went to the customer service centre of my carrier and got a new micro sim last week, and touch wood, the phone has shut down only once after that. I hope it stays that way.
I am assuming that it has to do with signal reception and the phone trying to do something about it.
    See if this helps you.

What happens when you are using bluetooth? I use speaker phone and bluetooth and I never recalled any issues. maybe I missed the issue.

  • Weird audio problem during calls

I have a weird audio problem and was wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem or could help...
My wife and I both have iPhone 5's and sometimes (not all the time) when she calls me (or I call her), it connects, but no matter which audio input I choose (phone, bluetooth, speaker, headphones), I cannot hear her, but she can hear me... I hang up, call back (and when I call, there is no dialing sound, nor any other phone sounds) and it's the same thing. Sometimes restarting the phone works, other times I have to restart it 3-4 times before it'll work again.  I try different things during these calls, like turning on/off bluetooth and/or wifi (pretty much anything I can think of that would make a difference), but nothing seems to help.
The (other) weird part is that after the last time of this happening, I tried calling my iPhone with my office phone and it worked fine, so then I immediately call my wife back with my iPhone and it was doing the same thing again. I called her back using my office phone and could talk to her fine...
This problem has been going on for a few months now and I have tried restoring the phone a couple times (and I am on the latest iOS) and sadly, that hasn't done anything to help... Does anyone have any ideas what is going on? I'd make an appointment for the problem, but since it doesn't do it all the time, I don't know what good it would do... But it is getting very frustrating!
    Thanks for any help!
    -Jason

Thanks for the response!  It happened again yesterday...  It seems to be happening more frequently in the past few weeks now.
I checked the link and have tried all of the things listed at one point or another over the past few months.  I did just check my Carrier settings and it said it had updated (it's on 14.1), but I am not sure when that happened (could have been today, could have been after my last restore last week, not sure).  I'll keep my fingers crossed that maybe that fixed it...
If it continues to act up, would you recommend that I bring the phone in to an Apple store or an AT&T store?  I bought the phone through Apple, but my carrier is AT&T (and if you suspect that the problem may be with the cellular conection), maybe the AT&T store would be the better choice?
I really wish the problem would be more consistant or go away, cause trying to get the problem solved is driving me crazy!
