E71 - SMS inbox displays Last name then first name...

Hi, can someone please advise how to make the sender's name in the inbox appear as first name then last name and not the other waay around. thanks.

I'm getting the First Name First and then last name , my phone book settings are also the same , maybe that's the reason as it does pick the name from phone book and will display as it's given . Try changing phone book settings , it may not effect the older SMS but newer ones may come fixed

How to display last name first and then first name last from one name column?

I am trying to write a code which will display the last Name first then second name at last. For example;
If the value of table column is: "John Decker Revora"
I want to display "Revora, John Decker".
I think I will first look for the gap in between the name and from last gap i will pick up the value and then concathenate with rest of the name.

You need to do this in the query, using the instr and substr functions. Search the documentation for info on these functions. As a startpoint, I'll copy here an example from Kevin Loney's Oracle 8i The Complete Reference that does the opposite... you can adjust this to your needs:

SMS not displaying contacts name

When I receive SMS phone displays only phone number as messages sender, even though the same phone number is memorized in contacts. I've tried changing settings and message center number, but the problem persists.

Hmm. You didn't mention if phone calls are okay. If you don't receive calls that often, maybe you may not notice.
Have you checked for double/duplicate entries? Since you mentioned that pc suite froze during the synchronisation process, it could have duplicated some of your contacts.
If not, then you might want to try backing up your contacts again using PC Suite's synchronise option or use the Content Copier (Backup) feature before deleting all your contacts. Next, create one contact and have that contact send an SMS to your phone (or you can create a contact of your OWN phone number and send yourself an SMS) to see if the name shows up.
If the name shows up, try restoring all your contacts to see if it still happens. If yes, then you probably have duplicate entries somewhere.
Otherwise, you may want to consider a software upgrade using Nokia Software Updater.
Do remember to backup your phone contents before doing this.
Alternatively, since you didn't mention your phone model, you might try a hard reset with *#7370# which will wipe out all your phone data and reset your phone back to the factory state, but this only works for specific Symbian OS phones and if you have a S40 phone, this won't be an option.

E71 won't display contacts name it displays number...

i have heard that some other ppl with E71 are having the same prob.
When i go to my inbox or get a new message it displays the numbers even though the contact is saved in phone is there any settings or anything i can do to rectify this issue so i can see the contact names in my inbox?????

First name and last name order in contact list

Actually, my contact list is displayed with the last name before the first name, but everything is fine in Address Book settings (I choosed "First name, Last name" option), and I checked that first name and last name has not been reversed for some reasons between two fields, the first name is right in place, as is the last name.
So changing this is AddressBook has no effect.
I tried disabling Chax, without success.
It could be possible this problem occured when I enabled Microsoft Exchange address book synchronization, (iSync reported 500+ changes in AB database, I did it anyway and noticed no problems in data after synchronization (I still have a backup :-))
One more thing , the displayed name in the iChat menu extra is correct.
So, what could possibly change this behavior I did not already check ?

If you add details to the Address card in iChat as you add a Buddy then you need the first set of instructions I posted.

Ahhh. I see what you mean.
iChat does in fact always display First Name, Last Name as you say.
Adding a Buddy with the names in the reverse order to display as you want in iChat your Address book gets messed up as it is not consistent with those contacts that are not iChat Buddies.
The only work around I can see is to change all the Address Book entries to match a reverse entry in iChat and then use the Address Book option to display Last Name, First name to show them the 'correct' Fist name, Last name and have them in Last name, First name in iChat.

6124 - SMS inbox format

I got a Nokia 6124 classic 10 days ago and initially all was fine. SMS messages I was receiving were in the format 'first name, last name' of the sender, as per the way the way my Contacts are set up.
Then for some unknown reason on Friday, I began receiving SMS messages as 'last name, first name'. It does not appear possible to alter the way SMS messages are received in terms of the sender's details, so I don't understand why this has suddenly started happening.
As an example, I received a message on Thursday from 'John Smith', then on Friday an SMS from that same person was coming through as 'Smith John'. I have separate SMS messages from the same contact in my inbox being displayed in two different ways. However, if I look at the messages in PC suite the 'Smith John' message is being shown as 'John Smith'.
I actually swapped my phone for a new one today, but I have exactly the same problem with the new one. Any help/suggestions anybody could give me would be greatly appreciated as it's really bugging me.

N95 8GB SMS contacts display

Hey all
(be nice, im new )
Just got my n95 8GB today and it's awesome, but i'm having trouble with contacts in the inbox -
what happens currently is when i get a message in it displays last name, first name - ie Smith Bob, instead of Bob Smith
Does anyone know how to change this so that it doesn't happen?
I've tried changing the settings in the contacts list but it doesn't seem to help.

There is no setting for it unfortunatley...
The best way to cure this if it really is an issue ( although time consuming) would be to swap the names around in first name last name i.e.
First Name: Bob
Last Name: Smith
Shows as Smith Bob in SMS
Make it
First Name: Smith
Last Name: Bob
Shows as bob Smith in a message...

E71 SMS displaying surname + first name

i just notice with my new E71 with latest fw.
when i write a sms from the start and sending it to a contact in my phone book it appears in the sent msgbox displaying first name then surname eg JOHN SMITH
but
when i reply to a sms or whatever it appears in the sent box surname then first name eg SMITH JOHN.
**bleep** is this normal or just how nokia is ??
its kinder anoying when i write a new to someone i just replied back..
fix ??

Contacts display first name, last name, except if there's email address then contact info is deleted (?) and email is displayed in contact list.

Confused on these procedures to post.
My contacts should list first name last name, however any contact with an email has info phone numbers and addresses deleted and the email address is displayed in contact list. I know how to change to last name first name but that doesn't help... Any suggestions? Should I delete all contacts and reacquire all through icloud? How?

Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

How can I display the first and last name using a paramater as employee ID?

I have a parameter that is called {? Employee ID}. What I want to do is display the first and last name based on the employee ID value entered in {? Employee ID} in the page header of the report. Right now, when I put the following formula in the page header only some pages get the right result while other pages dont....
if table.employeeid = {? Employee ID} then
table.firstname" "table.lastname
It appears as though if the first record in the details section on the beginning of each page happens to be the employee under {? Employee ID} then it prints it correctly, if it isn't I get a null value in the page header.
Anyone have any ideas?

Displaying by last name first screws up the middle name

Argh. Why couldn't I find any page to submit this as a clear, reproduceable bug?
If display is set to "First Last" then I see "First Middle Last" and that makes sense. If it's set to "Last, First" I see "Last, Middle First" which makes NO sense. Everybody (but Apple) knows that when you list people in an address book or phone book you list them "Last, First Middle."

I figured out the solution for this.. If a user doesn't record a 'recorded name' when configuring their Unity account.. they cannot be searched for by name in the directory.. So have any users that are reporting the issue with their account log into their personal unity settings and record their name.. You can tell be looking at their Unity account profile.. If the option to press the play button for Recoded Voice is grayed out, they have no recorded name.. Hope this helps!

Nokia E61 - Showing last name first in inbox

I just got the E61 - and I'm loving it.
However, there's one thing that bothers me. When I got the phone it came (by default) showing the last name first on all my contacts - I quickly changed it to "First Name Last Name". So far, so good.
But my inbox doesn't seem to follow this setting. I'm still getting Last Name First Name. But, in my Sent Items, it will actually show First Name Last Name *if* I started the "conversation" - meaning that all the SMS messages that I have sent are shown as First Name Last Name, but all replied messages are shown as Last Name First Name (just like the inbox).
Any ideas, or is this just a bug - or even a "feature"?

Displaying current user's first and last name on a report.

I would like to dispay the current user's name on a report. I've tried using User() and NQ_SESSION current user .
These two options display the User ID (i.e. User name is Jon Smith. there ID is COMP/JSMITH.
Using the two methods above the ID (COMP/JSMITH) is displayed. Is there a way I could display Jon Smith?
I thought their might be a way to use Full Name or First and Last Name.
