E72 doesn't open mail -

My E72 is set up for OVI mail and one other account. The second account (IMAP) worked fine until today, when clicking on the relevant "button" just makes it blink, without opening the account the mail. A restart allowed me to see who the mail was from but not to open it, then the problem is the same until I restart the phone again. Otherwise no other signs of instability for a long time.
Ideas, please. And NOT *#7xxxx anything, please That is the final resort - got kinda sick of reinstalling ...

No, not quite. The mail arrived, I clicked on the account name and it highlighted momentarily, but didn't open the mail. When I restarted the phone it allowed me to see the mail _header_ - sorry forgot to say it was only the header - once more. On a second attempt the "syndrome" was back and I had no access even to the header. No new mails are collected, even though the account is set up to check every 5 or 10 mins ...
Then, all of a sudden, it all started working again. But it took more than an hour of waiting, trying, waiting to get my mail. The mail concerned contained html, but I have set the phone to download headers only. ...

This situation does sound very frustrating. I know that you have tried some great troubleshooting steps already and the issue remains unresolved. Have you forced the Mail application to close and then opened it back fresh? If not, this is the next troubleshooting step I would suggest. Please let me know if the issue remains unresolved.

E72 doesn't open programs. Help!

So, I just got my E72 today.
Aside from the fact that Nokia PC Suite's Application Installer told me that I need to do something with the Phone User Interface, which I didn't quite understand (help appreciated on this issue, too), the real reason I came here is because just a few minutes ago (and a few times before that, all of which I've restarted the phone), my phone stopped opening any programs. I tried to access Web, but it showed that icon there that shows that it's processing and trying to open it, but then it just stays in the menu. Same thing with, for example, File Manager.
I heard such good things about the phone, but these software problems, and the fact that to a Symbian 60 new-comer (such as myself), the whole PC Suite business is more complicated, and a method to add files onto the memory card is completely...wah. Why can't it have folders in the gallery, like my old Symbian 40 (Nokia 5300) used to?
Simple drag'n'drop is what I miss, but that's beside the point. Help would be much appreciated on the apparent...shut-down of the phone, where it shows me the menus, but isn't able to do anything.

I advise you to bring your brand new E72 back to your retailer and if necessary demand a new one.

Opening mail application from the dock sometimes doesn't open window.

In Mountain Lion, sometimes when I open Mail on the dock with a single left mouse (or touchpad) click, the Mail application opens, as shown in the menu bar, but a mail window doesn't open. I must then click or double click on it to get it to open a window. No other application in the dock behaves this way. How can I fix this?

NOPE! Do you have open at login enabled? Is Mail listed in Login Items through System Preferences?

You can't open Mail, Contacts & Calendars preferences because it doesn't work on an Intel-based Mac.

I updated my Mac to Mavericks and after that, I can't open the Mail, Contacts and Calendar preferences.
Every time I try, I get the following message:
"You can’t open Mail, Contacts & Calendars preferences because it doesn’t work on an Intel-based Mac."
I tried this workaround from the Mountain Lion thread (https://discussions.apple.com/message/21303574#21303574) but it didn't worked.
Further I deleted all files in the Library Preferences folder, but it didn't helped also.
Can anyone help me please?

I had the same problem. And I found a fix.
I noticed that on a different system running Mavericks without any problems, the preference pane isn't called 'Mail, Contacts & Calendars' anymore, it's now called 'Internet accounts'. The fact that it's still called by the old name on your system, means it somehow wasn't replaced while updating to Mavericks.
So the cure is pretty easy:
On a different Mavericks system, go to /System/Library/PreferencePanes/ and copy the file InternetAccounts.prefPane. Take it to the system you're trying to fix, and paste the prefPane file in the same directory. Reboot, and it should all work fine. At least it did in my case.

Lion Mail doesn't open a window

I keep finding unwelcome changes in Lion, especially Mail. Now I notice that Mail doesn't open a window if I bring Mail to the front and no window is already open, and if a window is minimized it won't open it either as it used to do in Leopard. I have to go to the added trouble of going to File > New Viewer Window to get the regular window or click on the window in the dock. I don't understand why this was changed, it just makes more trouble.
I know people complain about changes, but I just need to know if there's a way, maybe with the help of Terminal, to bring it back to where it was?

Winmail is for Windows only. Excel does not open emails.
Ask the sender to send the file in a more up to date format.

This is the first time this has ever happened to me. Mail doesn't open. The icon in the dock jumps up once but that's it. No dialogue box or any other warnings. I even tried to open it from the Finder but that doesn't work either.
I don't know what else to do as I can't even look at any preferences nor do I want to delete the programme as I need my emails (i use it for work so can't loose all those emails, if I haven't done that already).
Does anybody have an idea what else I can try? Thanks!

This is the strangest thing ever. I created a new user account along with a password but it doesnt let me log in as that user. As a matter of fact I can't even log in under any of my users (not even the "guest" where there is no password required!) and yes, I do know the passwords.
Therefore couldn't check whether Mail opens in another account.

Mail doesn't open... it crushes immediately... it has happened before... I have tried, I have backed up the folder mail from the user-library, then trashed the com.apple.mail.plist, then trashed the whole application itself, brought back both, from the back up... still nothing...

Great news, in that case this is user a specific issue which we should be able to resolve by moving one plist.
*Note read the instructions carefully and ask quesitons if you don't understand something.
First > Create a folder on your desktop so we can backup the plist that we removing that was it can be put back if anything... Call it Dock Plist
Second > Open a Finder windows > up on the menu bar click on "Go" > Hold the option key on your keyboard and you should see Library come up click on it... This will place you inside your user specific Library folder aka ~/Library...
Third > Go into Preferences folder > locate a file called com.apple.dock.plist and drap/drop into the folder you created on the desktop
Fourth > Click on the Apple (top left) > Logout... Log back and test it. The system automatically creates a new com.apple.dock.plist with no settings so your dock will go back to default, test mail and see if that resolves the issue.

Try ctrl+clik the icon and select Quit.
Then start the app again by clicking the icon.
