EA6500 can't connect to Router after Time Machine

Just got an EA6500 - updated to the latest available firmware.
I've attached 2 x WD NAS and 1 x WD via USB to the unit.
Everytime AFTER I finished running Time Machine on the MacBookPro (writing to one of the WD NAS), I can no longer login to the router neither from the local IP address nor the cisco cloud connect. The error message that I get (loosely phrased) is: can't connect to Router. Please ensure the router is connected to the internet.
At this point, all the devices connected to the router (both wired and wireless) still can access the Internet perfectly. Only the router console is no longer reachable.
Anyone else are having the issue?
Any ideas on how to resolve it?
Solved!

Contacted Cisco support and the person advised me to do a factory reset (eventhough the router is brand new with no customization!!). Regardless, it now works properly. Cisco Cloud Connect still works before, during and after a Time Machine session.

Computer is supposed to seamlessly back up to Time Capsule via wi-fi, but ever since upgrading to Yosemite it's been broken.  "can't connect to a current Time Machine back up disk"  is the message that pops up, just after it shows me the files on my Time Machine for a split second.  So it sees them, for a moment, then it pops up the message and freezes my computer.  I have to do a hard reboot.  I tried the instructions here: OS X Yosemite: If Time Machine can’t find your backup disk,  and various instructions I've found on the internet regarding fixes from deleting plist files to whatever.
This is very annoying, I'd like to fix the problem.  And also vent, this *****, this isn't why I purchase Apple products, it's a known problem and they aren't publishing a fix.  Apple isn't very elegant anymore, it's cumbersome, troublesome, and I'm wondering why I'm spending the extra when those were the benefits I was paying for.

Don't upgrade next time until the following version is out.. I updated not long ago to Mountain Lion.. and it works very nicely. Apple is playing MS game.. don't fix the problems.. just release a new fangled OS. So issues that have existed over Mavericks and all its updates are still there and in fact exacerbated in Yosemite.
To fix your issue.. You may need to do some major work.. did you upgrade or clean install Yosemite??
I guess it is too much to ask if you still have your previous OS install intact?? Making a bootable clone before updating is a necessity now IMHO.
TM does not really allow you to go back to the previous OS.. but you can clean install Mavericks or whatever you used and then recover your files.
To fix Yosemite a clean install can be a big help. Especially as wireless is a major flaw.
Do you own the thunderbolt to ethernet adapter? It is like $35 and a well worthwhile gadget to own.. since I think your mac has no ethernet port.
See if it works ok by ethernet.
Otherwise factory reset the TC and try mounting it manually in finder by IP address, not name.
ie in Finder use Go, Connect to server and type in the IP.. thusly
    SMB://10.0.1.1 (replace with actual IP)
It is a bit tricky if the IP is not static.. but start there and see what happens.
Remember to save the password to the TC in the keychain when asked.

  • Can't connect iPhone 4s to Time Machine says "unable to join network"

as of a few days ago I had no problems. Now I can only connect my Macbook air and iPad and a PC laptop to my wifi from my Time Capsule. I cannot connect my iPhone 4s iPod touch 3rd or 2nd generation or a PS Vita. I have reset the Time Capsule, I have unplugged it, I have restored it back to factory settings and I have unplugged my cable modems and the most I have been able to get out of it is everything will connect to my network that I have set up but only for a minute then they say the same thing "unable to join the network". Is there anyone out there having the same problem? I took everything into Apple the other day and we reset everything and I had to do the same thing when I got back home and still the same problems.

No one seems to be hearing what Big Q is saying.
He can pair his iPhone to his Macbook, but cannot CONNECT. He's NOT asking for alternative solutions, like Wi Fi.
I am able to both pair and connect my one one Macbook to my other one, but I can only pair but not connect my iPhone or iPad to either Macbook. So I have the same problem. But I can pair and connect my Macbooks to other Bluetooth devices, like my ancient Nokia cellfone, or my Bluetooth HP printer.
It's irrelavent that I can instead use a direct USB cable or Wi Fi between my Macbooks and my iPhone/iPad - why can't I use Bluetooth? If Apple does not allow Bluetooth between it's Macbooks and other Mac devices, then why have Bluetooth at all? Does my iPhone have Bluetooth only so that I can pair and connect to my my non Apple mobile handsfree car kit, or communicate easily with the dreaded Apple enemy Samsung, or what?
Make no mistake , I am a diehard Apple fan, but this Bluetooth non compatibility issue appears shortsighted and seemingly pointless. Why does Apple not just say why they created the non compatibility, or have a message on the Bluetooth setup programme which simply and clearly says "don't bother wasting hours of your time trying to pair and connect your iPhone to your Macbook, because we don't allow that anymore, reason being that............"?
As a first time user of this Forum I am surprised at the intolerant and highhanded tone of some of the replies  to what is a legitimate question, that is obviously plagueing many, many other Apple users.

  • Can't access my account after time machine hard disk restore. HELP please.

just been reading through various posts on here and it seems that timemachine does not backup file vault home folders. Thanks for the warning message apple. i have wiped my harddrive lost all my home folder and am now panicking becuase some of the data was for a charity that i help out with and can't exactly go asking for the information again. i presume if my old home folder was there i would see it in the user account on my external drives backups? any help would be appreciated but  think i am now losing the will to live.
Cue the massive shouting match when i have to explain this to the charity secretary

  • Can't open pages documents after time machine restore.

Hi, I had to do a restore of my document folder from time machine and now I can't open any pages documents. It just says not a valid format. It is only the pages documents that are affected. Not word documents. If I try to convert to plain text (or any format) in word i just get a blank page.
Help in this matter would be greatly appreciated!

  • Ever since updating to 10.10.1 I can't connect to my airport time machine for backups unless its in safe mode.

Need help connecting to time machine.

    Hello BDAqua,
I've ran Disk Utility and everything including S.M.A.R.T. checked out fine.
Here is a screen shot of the Activity Monitor as it appeared just a moment ago...
The first thing to stand out to me from what you asked is the large number of Page outs.
Here is the Disk Usage tab view...
Finally, here is the Console view but I haven't the foggiest idea of what I should be looking for...
So far, I've locked onto the Page outs and will start researching what that is referring to and go from there.  If you or anyone else has any ideas or suggestions, I'm all ears here!
    Thanks!

  • Connection Mac - Router - HDD + Time Machine

    Hello dear friends!
Help me please with realization this idea:
    1. I have a router.
    Original (Russian): http://zyxel.ru/keenetic-ultra
    Analog, as I guess: http://www.zyxel.com/us/en/products_services/nbg5615.shtml?t=p
    2. I want to connect external HDD to the router via USB (or maybe ethernet is better?)
    3. My Mac is connected to the Router via WiFi.
Result: I want to use the HDD as a disk for Backups of TimeMachine + as a media server (upload video to it from Mac via HomeNetwork and stream it to my Samsung Smart TV)
Is it possible? What HDD shal i choose to be able to use TimeMachine?
Thanks a lot to everyone who answers!
P.S. Tried to ask on Zyxel's support forum, but it is broken or unavailable.

Assuming your router even supports the Mac in sharing devices via its USB port (and not all do) there is still the additional problem of whether that device supports Apples TimeMachine protocols. In many cases this just isn't possible. Even worse, when it is possible, in many cases it isn't advisable. For example:
Apple's own Airport Extreme Base Station can be used to share drives and it works very well. I can even access my drive when I'm outside the home. However Apple doesn't support its use for TimeMachine - and with good reason. While TimeMachine will make backups to a drive connected to the AEBS, at some point within a few weeks or months a backup will fail. At that point nothing can fix the TM backup and the only recourse is to format the drive and start over.
And frankly, while Apple's TimeCapsule (TimeMachine integrated into Apple's WiFi base station) is a great idea and pretty reliable, IMO the advantages are outweighed by the disadvantages. I'll take a fast external drive for backups over almost any network drive solution.

  • Can't find iphoto library after time machine migration of 2011 imac to osx 2014 imac

I recently purchase latest 5K Retina display iMAC with Yosemite. Had a 2011 Intel iMAC it had a flash drive with latest iphoto library. An older iphoto library was located on the standard HD on the 2011 iMAC. EVerything on this computer was backed up with Time capsule.
When I purchased new computer, I used migration assistant and the Time capsule to migrate files to new iMAC. The newer iphot libray is present but cant find the older one.
    What did I do wrong?

Download Find Any File (www.macupdate.com) and do a search for the library.

  • Can't connect WRT54GL router to Motorola Surfboard cable modem SB6120

I can't connect my router (WRT54GL) to my new cable modem (Motorola Surfboard SB6120).
    Some info:
    1)  Cable modem works perfectly when connected directly to computer ethernet port
    2)  ISP is Optimum Online
    3)  Using Automatic DHCP setting on router
    4)  Using MAC cloning on router
    5)  I can access the router's admin screen from the PC
    6)  I can connect to the router wirelessly, but no internet access
    7)  I've tried powering down everything multiple times, still no internet access
    8)  I upgraded the router firmware to 4.30.14
    9)  The "link" light on the cable modem never lights up when connected to the router
    10)  This is very frustrating
    Thanks

    Hi
I've tried two ethernet cables, no luck.  On the router, I get lights for Power, WLAN and the ethernet port that the pc is connected to.  The "internet" light is not lit.
When the modem is connected directly to pc the link is lit up, just not when it's connected to router.
The internet light won't turn on as you need to plug something on the WAN port. And that should be the cable coming from the modem.
When you connected your pc directly to the modem, do you get internet access?

  • Can't Connect to Router Manager

I want to review the Router Statistics but can't get connected.
I have typed in the address,
    http://192.168.1.1/
Also tried via the Router Icon &
    http://voyager220v.home/
but get message "Can't Connect to Router"
All other web sites are easy to get into.
Any idea of why this problem is occurring?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Have you tried rebooting the Voyager or resetting it to default by pressing the recessed reset button.
Are all the lights on at the front, and the correct brightness?
Failure of the Voyager 220V power supply was fairly common, but any 12V regulated power unit will work, if it has failed.
The Voyager range of modems were some of the best, I still have quite a few as standby routers and extra wireless points.

  • Can I increase the capacity of Time Machine with an external hard drive connected to Time Capsule?

Can I increase the capacity of Time Machine with an external hard drive connected to Time Capsule via the USB port?  My current Time Machine has a total capacity of 1TB.  I'd like to double or triple its memory.  I don't want to use the external hard drive in lieu of the Time Capsule hard drive.  I'd like to use it in addition to.  Just don't know if/how it's possible.
This is another one of those questions that I've searched the web for answers, and have gotten tricky answers back.  So now I'm trying to introduce a clean slate to the mix.
    Thank you for your time!

Well, what you mentioning is possible.  However, I don't know whether it's supported (as in, "easy to set up.").  Time Machine officially supports backing up to a locally attached drive, to a machine running a Time Machine server (i.e. running OS X Server software), and to a Time Capsule.  I don't know that it officially supports a drive attached to an AirPort or to a Time Capsule.  Though I know some people have gotten it to work.
Best I can say is to try it.  Plug the drive into the Time Capsule, ensure it's shared on the network, and then try and set it as a backup target from a machine in the Time Machine backup panel (you'll need to ensure it's mounted first).  If it works, you're all set.

  • Can't connect ethernet cable on Time capsule without messing Time Machine

    Hi All,
I just bought a Time Capsule couple of weeks ago.
I have a mac with time machine enabled on Wi-fi. I also have a vista that I can't get the wireless card to work properly... It keeps disconnecting and connecting from the internet.
So I decided to plug an Ethernet cable between the vista and time capsule. Everything was working great, except that Time machine cannot connect to time capsule as long as that cable is there...
Can't find anything to fix this...
So either solution is fine by me: either some tips on why Vista keeps dropping the internet connection or why my time machine can't back up with an ethernet cable plugged on Time Capsule.
    thanks,
    marcelo.
