Easy to follow blog for learning NWBPM
Hi all
I am new to NWBPM with PO 7.3.1 although I have experience developing on PI and some ccBPM. Over the last 2 days, I have been trying to look for blogs on NWBPM that are easy to follow. Unfortunately, I came up empty. Please share the links if you have any.
Specifically, I am looking for detailed step by step procedure as I don't know much about the subject:) So far, most of the blogs are NWCE oriented. Other NWPBM/PO blogs are rather brief and hard to follow or require third party products like SonicMQ that I don't have. Any blog like the classic interface sync to async bridge that uses soap -> file, for example, that you are aware of?
Thanks in advance,
Jonathan.
Hi ,
refer the below links.
You can find tutorials for SAP NetWeaver BPM here - http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-27944 and here - http://scn.sap.com/community/process-orchestration/blog/2012/06/22/sap-netweaver-process-orchestration--an-introduction which you can also find via the main page of the BPM space here http://scn.sap.com/community/bpm

Looking for easy to follow guide for building a software updates process.
I am hoping that I can get some general guidance here. I have responsibility for sccm 2012 in our environment. I also have to do exchange 2010, all Cisco networking and a few other large platforms. Needless to say it gets to difficult to get on a task and
stay focused for long periods of time. I tend to just sort of keep things running and that's all I usually have time for.
We have sccm 2012 and it's mostly used for OSD right now. I have been tasked with developing and implementing a process for critical updates across the organization. We have one primary site and three secondaries with about 2500 machines. There is no history
of doing updates here other than a previous person who used to do them via WSUS and GPO. But that has not happened for well over a year now. My problem is that I have no familiarity with doing updates via WSUS or sccm. So it's all pretty new to me. I
got Kent Agerlunds book and like his detailed approach and was hoping to just sort of adopt that process and tailor it to this environment.
I do have WSUS installed in our primary location and the SUP point on our primary and secondary servers. Things seem to be syncing fine. Now I need to try to put together a process that is easy to manage and works. The biggest problem I find is that
given I have primary ownership for a wide range of technologies in a company that is not a small mom and pop organization, it is difficult to sit down and get the necessary time to hammer this out. Everytime I sit down to work on this I feel I have to try
to learn it all over again. For some reason, probably my lack of experience with even WSUS or patching in general, they way this is supposed to work is just not sinking in effectively.
Can someone recommend a decent guide that is easy to understand and easy to follow? I find so much material out there on this topic that it gets a bit overwhelming and I spend what time I do have available jumping from document to document and not really
getting a decent foundation of how this is supposed to work.
Also, if anyone cares to chime in how they would maybe approach this task if assigned to them. Imagine and environment that has no software updates in place and basically never did. Machines are very, very outdated. I have disabled automatic updates via
a GPO ( this was recommended in the Agerlund book).
Also, since this is basically a ground zero environment should I have two focuses? One, just getting everything up to date, and then a second process for keeping things up to date?
I realize this is a really broad info dump that I'm asking for, but I find just googling and trying to figure this out ends up with a scattered bunch of links that I don't really feel help me just get started on the right track.
Thanks!Hi,
You just need to deploy software updates to specific collections periodically, such as Automatic deployment rules, keep things up to date. Then monitor the status to make sure deployments are successful.
The following KBs describe how to plan software updates.

Is there a way to replace, on a list of folders at the same time, underscore between title words on a folder with a space? If someone has the know how could they please explain in real simple to follow way for somebody not good with Mac .... Thanks
You need a "bulk renamer" to do this.
I personally use ABetterFinderRename, but there are cheaper and some that are free. ABFR has a free trial.
Renamer4Mac is cheap. Check the App Store too. -
Has anyone easy to follow diagrams for time capsule networks?
I have a Sky modem (broadband) which is ethernet cable connected to the Apple Time Capsule I would like to have fixed ethernet sockets around the house where I can connect my Mac Book Pro to, and at the same time have hard wired (ethernet cable) connections to the Time capsule,
Questions...
Are the ethernet ports on the back of the Time Capsule ok for the purpose of creating a wired network?
Will the internet still be accessible via Time Capsule.Yes, it's the internal power supply that fails. There are a couple of threads here on this issue. A bloke in Australia has documented several modifications to the TC power and cooling. I just finished repowering my failed TC and modifying the cooling so it now runs very cool.

Infinite loop error after using Java Sun Tutorial for Learning Swing
I have been attempting to create a GUI following Sun's learning swing by example (example two): http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/uiswing/learn/example2.html
In particular, the following lines were used almost word-for-word to avoid a non-static method call problem:
SwingApplication app = new SwingApplication();
Component contents = app.createComponents();
frame.getContentPane().add(contents, BorderLayout.CENTER);I believe that I am accidentally creating a new instance of the gui class repeatedly (since it shows new GUI's constantly and then crashes my computer), possibly because I am creating an instance in the main class, but creating another instance in the GUI itself. I am not sure how to avoid this, given that the tutorials I have seen do not deal with having a main class as well as the GUI. I have googled (a nice new verb) this problem and have been through the rest of the swing by example tutorials, although I am sure I am simply missing a website that details this problem. Any pointers on websites to study to avoid this problem would be appreciated.
Thanks for your time-
Danielle

String file1Name = new String("");
file1Name = MGui.get1Name();
System.out.println("good so far- have MGui.get1Name()");
}// end main(String[] args)
}// end class Mainum, yeah, you definitely have a recursion problem, that's going to create an infinite loop. you will eventually end up an out of memory error, if you don't first get the OS telling you you have too many windows. interestingly, because you are deferring execution, you won't get a stack overflow error, which you expect in an infinite recursion.
lets examine why this is happening:
in main, you call new MGui().
new MGui() creates a runnable object which will be run on the event dispatch thread. That method ALSO calls new MGui(), which in turn ALSO creates a new object which will be run on the event dispatch thead. That obejct ALSO calls new MGui(), which ...
well, hopefully you get the picture.
you should never unconditionally call a method from within itself. that code that you have put in the constructor for MGui should REALLY be in the main method, and the first time you create the MGui in the main method as it currently exists is unnecessary.
here's what you do: get rid of the MGui constructor altogether. since it is the implicit constructor anyway, if it doesn't do anything, you don't need to provide it.
now, your main method should actually look like this:
public static void main( String [] args ) {
SwingUtilities.invokeLater( new Runnable() {
public void run() {
MGui app = new MGui();
app.createAndShowGUI();
}// end mainyou could also declare app and call the constructor before creating the Runnable, as many prefer, because you would have access to it from outside of the Runnable object. The catch there, though, is that app would need to be declared final.

What's your strategy for learning Java technologies?
Or, in other words, how do YOU acquire knowledge that is necessary for implementing Java technologies?
After having spent one-and-a-half years developing an enterprise app, I've gained lots of knowledge about Java and some surface knowledge about its related technologies (JBoss, Hibernate, Ant, XDoclet, NetBeans and probably some others I can't think of at the moment).
I'm now realizing that -- although the standalone prototype version of my program is growing mature -- I've still got lots to learn for refactoring it to a web platform. For example, I 've done small test projects using Servlets, but haven't done any work with JSP (or HTML for that matter) yet.
Now, I'm sure I can learn JSP etc., but the questions I ask myself are: how long will it take?
It's a rhetorical question of course (I don't expect an answer from you, the reader) However, it's an important issue because the months or years I spend fumbling around learning these new technologies, are time I could otherwise spend on the business logic and functionality of my program.
So, how do you guys acquire knowledge of technologies? Official training perhaps? Or do you simply experiment until it works? Or do you rely on your company's knowledge base (e.g. someone in your company knows how it works)? Or do you get prototypes built from someone who already knows how it works?
Im really curious about this and would appreciate your thoughts.
Thanks in advance,
PWell, it seems like most of you simply read the
various texts and try the vendors' examples. I'm
surprised that no one mentioned ever having bought a
prototype application from the onset. "bought"? What's that mean? You don't buy prototypes. You download evaluation versions, maybe.
I try to find sample code and tweak it to see the effects. Otherwise, I start writing small sample code an build on that.
I consider myself a reasonably competent core Java
programmer, but I had serious difficulty configuring
and merging its related technologies. There were so
many disjointed pieces of instructional information
that the additional research time really hurt our
budget severely. Not an uncommon thing, I'm sure. There's a lot of stuff. But don't bother learning all of it. Not in detail, at least. It's a good idea to familiarize yourself with the names of packages/libraries and what they do. But only really learn what you need to learn for what you need to do. The next project you will probably need other things, so you learn them then.
bsampieri,
I've setup Tomcat and tried the examples--in fact, I
normally follow tutorials for all products I hope to
use. Problem is, the examples and tutorials never
address my specific needs. So, I usually inch toward
my goal by spending weeks or months in forums to
continue where the tutorials leave off. Anything complex is going to not be there.... the trick is to identify pieces that you can pull out to build more complex apps. And the fact that JSP/servlets have the issue of being compounded by all the HTML/CSS/JS and HTTP protocol ... I don't want to say limitiations, exactly... Well, it just makes things more complex and harder to know what you need.
Perhaps you guys are much faster and smarter than
I...or you have a much bigger budget :)Probably not... on either account. -

Installing Apps for learning purpose
I want to install Oracle Apps for learning purpose and I have few questions:
1. What version is preferred 11i or 12?
2. What operating system should I use?
3. Where can I find the installation?
4. Could I install it for learning without purchasing a license?
Thank you.1. What should I download for starting? I understand that all the rapid install disks, is it right?If you select "Oracle® Applications 11i Release 10.2 Media Pack for Microsoft Windows" then you need to download all the zip files belonging to the following parts:
- Rapid Install Start Here
- Rapid Install RDBMS
- Rapid Install Databases
- Rapid Install Tools
- Rapid Install APPL_TOP
In addition, if you wish to install any language other than American English, download the Rapid Install NLS Disks for the corresponding languages.
2. What is the use of each part? For example there are three Databases disks.You need to use all the disks mentioned above. Each set will be used to install a component like Oracle Database technology stack, APPL_TOP, Oracle Applications technology stack .. etc
3. Is the demo company (VISION) included in the files? Yes. At the time of the installation you can select to install either a production/test database or a vision demo database, all are included in the same media kit. -

Blogs for Product Cost Planning (CO-PC-PCP)
Edited by: Young Sun on Oct 7, 2010 7:50 AMHi,
Followings are the steps for configure the mixed costing in sap
A. Create a Procurement Altternative in CK91N for each of the 4 prod version... Choose process category = Production in CK91N
B. 1 Now, create a mix cost ratio for each of these 4 proc alternative in CK94....
B.2 To maintain a mix ratio in CK94, you need to maintain Qty Structure Type.. Follow the below steps
create a Qty Structure Type in IMG - Controlling > Product Cost Controlling > Product Cost Planning > Selected Functions in Material Costing > Mixed Costing
> Define Quantity Structure Types - Define Qty Str Type here and assign it in the next step
> Define Costing Versions - Assign Qty Str Type to your costing version 1 and Costing Type
C. Now run CK11N.. Your std cost will be a weighted average of all the 4 prod versions... And target cost in production order will be based on the prod version used in prod order
