EBS R12 : NLS size per language ?

We are preparing a test machine, so that we can perform a new EBS R12 installation.
Currently we have a EBS R11i.6, but we would like to do a VISION install and let key users have a fell.
As a second step, we will be performing a migration test.
Right now, I am making a document for OS team to prepare the server.
My question is space - NLS :
I've read the documents concerning a new installation, but so far could not find the space required by each new language added to the base install (AMERICAN).
In 11.5.10, it says (application node ~ 10Gb + database ~ 1Gb)
Anyone has seen this information in some official Oracle doc ?
I've seen a lot of Docs, mentioned in the Installation white paper, and EBS R12 Knowledge Center (Metalink), but so far failed - Probably missing something, somewhere, among the pile of documents.
Regards,
Priscilla S M

On the same note, I would like to hightlight this for those who have :
Multiple languages are installed + Upgrading to R12 + Plan to apply "Latest HRMS (HR Global) Legislative" after upgrade
then please refer : Note:145837.1:
Optional (Step 5):For customers using other languages than US and wishing to apply translated legislative seed data, please apply the relevant language specific version of the consolidated translation patch after successfully completing the hrglobal.drv above. Instructions for applying this patch can be found in the patch readme. For additional information please consult Metalink Note 414434.1
Summary: The correct sequence should be :
1. Install Oracle Applications E-Business Suite Release 12 Baseline.
2. Run DataInstall and select legislations to install.
3. Apply hrglobal.drv
4. Apply R12 Baseline NLS patch for all other installed languages.
On a test env we applied in wrong sequence i.e. applied NLS R12 Baseline and then applied Hrglobal. And we had some data missing issue because of this. So wanted to share this with all.
Thanks

    Hi James,
    Thanks for the quick reply.
    We've tried to call that web service from an HTML designed in Visual Studios with the same username and password and its working fine.
    But on the BPEL console, we are getting the error as mentioned.
    Also if you can tell me how to set the user name and password in the header of the parter link.I could not find how to do it.
    Thanks,

  • EBS R12.1.3 BI Publisher is forcing NLS_NUMERIC_CHARACTERS to '.,'

    Hi all,
    I developed a report in EBS 11i (11.5.10.2). It creates XML file via RDF report (only data model in it) and generates layout via XML Publisher RTF template.
    I have some numbers in the report that I format in data model using TO_CHAR(some_numeric_value,'FM999G999G990D00').
    This value is then simply displayed in layout as a string field. No formatting is applied in layout.
    NLS settings that I use are:
    NLS_NUMERIC_CHARACTERS= ,.
    NLS_LANG= CROATIAN_AMERICA.UTF8
    EBS profile option ICX_NUMERIC_CHARACTERS is set to value ,.
    It works fine in EBS 11i (11.5.10.2). For numeric value 20354.1 I get formatted value 20.354,10 and this is exactly what I want.
    A part of XML file with this value is:
    <AMOUNT>20354.1</AMOUNT>
    <AMOUNT_DISP>20.354,10</AMOUNT_DISP>
    The same report also works fine in EBS R12.0.4
    But, in EBS R12.1.3 I have encountered a problem.
    With the same NLS settings as stated above I started getting formatted value 20,354.10 (decimal and grouping separators are changed).
    In a log of my concurrent request I can see the message:
    Forcing NLS_NUMERIC_CHARACTERS to: '.,' for XDO processing
    and my XML file now looks like this:
    <AMOUNT>20354.1</AMOUNT>
    <AMOUNT_DISP>20,354.10</AMOUNT_DISP>
    This is not good for our customers, they want to see number formatted as 20.354,10.
    We raised SR on Oracle Support, but all we got is an answer that "this is the standard behavior to have the XML report submitted with NLS_NUMERIC_CHARACTER set to ".,". This is a standard and impacting only the XML data file generation in order to prevent discrepancies.".
    I've tried to search for a patch that would fix this, but with no luck.
    I will pursue this issue further on SR, but if anyone has an idea how to fix this I would appreciate it very much.
    I know that I can use "raw" numeric value (e.g.20354.1) and format it in layout template (by using format-number), but there are many reports that I would have to change so I'd rather not do that.
    Thanks!
    Dalibor

    Hi Srini,
    Yes, "NLS Compliant" is checked.
    I have looked at the document you suggested, and based on that I have tried different settings for ICX_TERRITORY profile, but that didn't help.
    I was using language CROATIAN, ICX_TERRITORY was set on AMERICA. I tried setting it to CROATIA, but (like I sadi) that didn't help.
    ICX_NUMERIC_CHARACTERS profile is set to ',.', which should produce number formatting like this: 12.345,67
    When I select from FND_CONCURRENT_REQUESTS I see NLS_NUMERIC_CHARACTERS = ',.' (correct).
    But then XML concurrent report forces NLS_NUMERIC_CHARACTERS to ".," (I see that message in the log) and when I use TO_CHAR(my_number,'FM999G999D99') I get 12,345.67 (which is not ok).
    Anyway, thanks for your effort.

    I have downloaded EBS R12.0.0 form edelivery.Do you mean 12.1.1?
    I have some doubts..
    1- i unzipped all the zip files its extracted like Disk1...Disk2...Disk48..... its not extracting like StartCD,Appl_Tool n all What file have you downloaded from e-Delivery website?
    Is your OS 32-bit or 64-bit?
    3-when i am giving base directory /home/oracle_apps/app
    its going for next step and created DB and inst folders in /home/oracle_apps/app and going for next step
    3-on pre-requisite step all requisite is passing and green cheks comming ...after its confirming to install EBS
    4-after clicking on yes...immediate its failing ...means progress bar is on 0%At what stage/step you get this error?
    Please let me know where i am missing somthing...where am doing wrongAs mentioned above, OEL6 is not certified so please make sure you have a certified OS. However, I believe the error you are getting is not relevant to the OS version and it is something to do with your stage area directory. Please make sure you run md5sum as per (MD5 Checksums for R12.1.1 Rapid Install Media [ID 802195.1]) to verify the integrity of the stage area directory.

    Proceed with the next steps of the upgrade.
    Your quick action in this regards will be highly appreciated.
    Regards
    Mohammed.

    Mohammed,
    I am not an expert although I have significant experience upgrading the database and applications from 11.5.10.2 to 12.1.1 and 12.1.3 in both test and production environments. The following are a few thoughts as you continue down the upgrade path:
    Patch 8773483 will need to be installed in pre-install mode along with a number of other pre-install mode patches. If you haven't looked at the following note you will need to since it contains information you need:
    Oracle Applications Release Notes, Release 12.1.1 [ID 798258.1]
    Pay particular attention to the README.txt instructions for patch 9179588 since it wants you to merge other patches with it before applying.
    Another note you need to be aware of, especially if you want reconcile past the 6 month window used for accrual write offs during the upgrade, is:
    R12.0 and R12.1: FAQ for the SLA Upgrade: SLA Pre-Upgrade, Post-Upgrade, and Hot Patch [ID 604893.1]
    Other good sources of information for financials are:
    Impact of R12 Design in Procure To Pay Accounting Flow [ID 429105.1]
    Projects Uptake of the TCA Architecture in Release 12 [ID 417511.1] <--- AR/TCA (HZ) table join information that is very good
    Payments In Order Management In R12 [ID 1164613.1]
    If you don't have XLE and ZX currently licensed in your 11.5.10.2 instance, you will need to license them so the tax conversion runs successfully.
    If you have legal entity identifications that are more than 30 characters, you will want to be aware of the size limitation imposed on the column LEGAL_ENTITY_IDENTIFIER in the table XLE.XLE_ENTITY_PROFILES, The following job will fail if the combined values exceed the LEGAL_ENTITY_IDENTIFIER column length which is shortened in R12:
    xleupg01.sql
    There are lots of potential pitfalls in an R12 upgrade. You simply need to test, test, and test again everything you use, read the RCD's and R12 documentation as much as possible, etc ... Having said that, there are many good things about an R12 upgrade too, from both the functional and technical perspectives.

  • Discoverer integration with EBS R12 !!!

    Hello Sir,
    I need help to install/integrate Discoverer with R12.
    Actually, our clients are using Discoverer 4i in current EBS 11.5.10.2 in production. We have just upgraded EBS in TEST environment from 11.5.10.2 to R12.1.3.
    I had suggested client that Discoverer 4i is actually de-supported and they need to upgrade Discoverer version to minimum 10.1.2.3 or higher to integrate it with R12.1.3.
    Now, client also have requirement for Discoverer to be certified with MS Excel 2010 format. So I have suggested to upgrade Discoverer version to minimum 11.1.1.4.
    Latest certified Discoverer version is 11.1.1.7.0 as per note Using Discoverer 11.1.1 with Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12 (Doc ID 1074326.1)
    1) Can you please provide your opinion and any documentation which I can follow to install/integrate Discoverer with R12 ?
    2) Do I need to first install separate 10gAS for installing Discoverer 10.1.2.3 or Fusion middleware home for installing Discoverer 11g ? If yes, where can I find doc for this installation ?
    3) Since 10g support has ended July 2013, where can I get media for installing 10gAS ?
    4) Is there any additional licences required for using either Discoverer 10g or Discoverer 11g ?

    Hi Hussein,
    Thank you for your kind update.
    I am trying to create a custom top as per the notes mentioned in the note mentioned by you above using adsplice but I am facing issues with tablespace and indexspace registered with the custom top into the application. My issue is related to the  issue posted in the following blog:
    Re: Re: ADsplice Warning: Because the database is in new tablespace mode
    Hence my work is stuck and cannot proceed.
    I will update this blog once that issue is resolved and I complete all the steps in Doc ID 1577661.1.
    Thank you,

    Post steps to be done as listed below as per Patch Readme.
    Description
    This patch must be applied on all the APPL_TOPs.
    If your system is implemented as a Shared Application Tier File System,
    you need to apply this patch only once, on any one of the application
    tier nodes. However, AutoConfig must be executed on all the Nodes.
    This patch can be applied on 12.1 or higher.
    Post Install Steps
    After applying this patch, update all Database Tier Nodes with the code level
    provided by this patch, by performing the following steps :
    1. On the Application Tier (as the APPLMGR user):
    . Source the environment variables for Oracle Applications
    UNIX:
    . ./<APPL_TOP>/APPS<CONTEXT_NAME>.env
    Windows:
    <APPL_TOP>\envshell<CONTEXT_NAME>.cmd
    . Run AutoConfig on the APPL_TOP
    . Execute admkappsutil.pl utility to create the file appsutil.zip
    perl <AD_TOP>/bin/admkappsutil.pl
    This will create appsutil.zip in <INST_TOP>/admin/out
    Note:
    For exact details on how to run Autoconfig and how to create appsutil.zip,
    please refer to Metalink Note 387859.1.
    2. On the Database Tier (as the ORACLE user):
    . Source the environment variables for RDBMS ORACLE_HOME
    UNIX:
    cd <RDBMS ORACLE_HOME>
    . ./<RDBMS ORACLE_HOME>/<CONTEXT_NAME>.env
    Windows:
    <RDBMS ORACLE_HOME>\<CONTEXT_NAME>.cmd
    . Copy or FTP the appsutil.zip file to the <RDBMS ORACLE_HOME>
    . Uncompress appsutil.zip under the <RDBMS ORACLE_HOME>
    cd <ORACLE_HOME>
    unzip -o appsutil.zip
    . Run AutoConfig on the <RDBMS ORACLE_HOME>
    Note:
    For exact details on how to run Autoconfig on the dbTier and how transfer
    the AutoConfig updates from the APPL_TOP to the RDBMS ORACLE_HOME please
    refer to Metalink Note 387859.1, Section 2, Step 3 (Patching AutoConfig).
    3. Re-run adpreclone.pl on the dbTier and appsTier
    Warning:
    Since new updates included on this patch have been applied to the system,
    Adpreclone must be executed again in order to apply them into the clone
    directory structures used during cloning.
    perl adpreclone.pl dbTier
    perl adpreclone.pl appsTier
    Note:
    For exact details on how to run adpreclone.pl, please refer to Metalink

  • EBS R12.1.1 databse copy windows to windows??

    Hi All,
    I am a report developer. I have two servers(VMs)
    Server1: Win 2008, Oracle EBS R12.1.1.
    Server2: Win XP SP3, about to install Oracle 11g R1
    My goal is to copy the whole EBS R12.1.1 Vision Instance database (VIS) on Server1 to Server 2 Oracle Database....And please not that I need only data in those schemas - I use that to run ETL scripts, so, on Server2 I am not going to run any EBS Applications(Forms, or reports or others).
    In order to do this I am thinking of using http://www.dba-oracle.com/oracle_tips_db_copy.htm, or RMAN method....
    Now my questions are:
    1. Can I used any of the above methods?
    2. If yes, For both the above methods, during the installation of Target Database (Server 2) do I need to select "Create Starter Database (Additional 1482MB)" option? I am in a great disk space crisis so, I prefer not to select that option, but can I follow above clone methods with out creating a starter database in the target system?
    Thanks and regards.

Your target database size on the target database will be exactly the same database size on the source database.
    I would prefer you use one of the following methods instead of RMAN:
    1) Rapid Clone (clone the database tier node only and this is the best option for you) -- Cloning Oracle Applications Release 12 with Rapid Clone [ID 406982.1]
    2) The method in the link referenced by you
    3) Export/Impot (which is time consuming):
    Export/import process for R12 using 11gR1 or 11gR2 [ID 741818.1]
    Export/Import Process for Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12 using 10gR2 [ID 454616.1]
    Thanks,

  • Upgrade Oracle 10.2.0.3 database to 11.2.0.3 with EBS R12.0.4

    HI,
    OS : RHEL 4
    64 bit
    We are planning for Upgrade Oracle 10.2.0.3 database to 11.2.0.3 with EBS R12.0.4.
    Please give me steps by step to do the same.
    Other than this please refer me any blogs ..
    Interoperability Notes EBS R12 with Database 11gR2 [ID 1058763.1]
    Thanks

    Which is the best approach for upgarde ?
    APPS - 12.0.6
    DB - 10.2.0.3
    My DB Size is 400GB
    1. DBUA
    2. Export / Import utility
    3. SQL Copy
    Client cannot afford downtime .. we are getting approx 6 hrs to complete the task in PROD.DBUA should be the fastest one.
    What is the approx time reuired?Depends on many factors (hardware resources, size of the database, ..etc). Please try this in a test instance to estimate the time it requires to do this upgrade.
    Thanks,
    Hussein

    Hi,
    I Want to install the EBS R12 for an educational purpose, or in another way just to demonistrate the Installing of it for Students, So is there is a way to install it in one farm without having server hardwares requirements(written below)??You need to meet the minimum hardware requirements so that you would not have issues during the installation.
    and what about licenses Screen can I skip it ? (which i don't have for sure because im not a company), It should be OK to skip this screen.
    and Is there is a way to get a meta link support Account without being a company ?? or how much it cost if i want to buy it ...Please contact an Oracle Sales Representative for these details.

    anyway im welling to install it in this Software & hardware requirements :
    Win server 2003 ??( does it need perl installed to Apply some perl scripts ?)No as it will be installed by Rapid Install.
    intel core2due 2.0 X 2 with 1.5 GB ram , HD as they wrote from 76GB - 161 GB ( please aproximate the size it needed for this installation due to lack of space )You will need to have 4GB RAM. For the space, it is already mentioned in [Oracle Applications Installation Guide: Using Rapid Install|http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B53825_03/current/acrobat/121oaig.pdf].

  • Journal Import EBS R12 Issue

    Hi All,
    Environment :
    - Solaris 11
    - EBS R12
    - Oracle DB 11.2.0.3.0
    Journal Import Profile option is default (still no settings / default settings / not still tune).
    Our Journal Import could not submit more than 4000 records.
    When we try to import data more than 4000, there is an error SQL*Net message to client on OAM view log, and when I looking on LAB128 and OEM, the process stop mostly on gl.gl_je_lines, sometimes on gl.gl_je_headers.
    I had already followed suggestion from metalink forum :
    change DB : sqlnet.ora, listener.ora
    add sqlnet.ora on Apps Server (EBS R12 Server)
    But, now there is another issue, the error SQL*Net message to client not raise anymore, but when I see Journal Import OAM log, LAB128 and OEM, the sessions is inactive but the process looks like looping forever.
    Need suggestion solution for this issue.
    Any help is very appreciated and score. Thanks before.

    Dear Mr. Hussein,
    Our EBS version : 12.1.3, while
    R12:Journal Import Failing With ORA-24337 Error When Importing All GROUP IDs [ID 1159594.1] Oracle General Ledger - Version: 12.0.0 to 12.1.2 - Release: 12.0 to 12.1
    I'm already change the settings of :
    Please revert to Oracle Net Server tracing/logging, set following parameter in the server's sqlnet.ora :
    DIAG_ADR_ENABLED = OFF
    - to back out the ADR diag for the Listener component, set following parameter in the server's listener.ora:
    DIAG_ADR_ENABLED_<listenername> = OFF
    - Where the <listenername> would be replaced with the actual name of the configured listener(s) in the listener.ora configuration file. For example, if the listener name is 'LISTENER', the parameter would read:
    DIAG_ADR_ENABLED_LISTENER = OFF
    -Reload or restart the TNS Listener for the parameter change to take effect.
    ACTION PLAN
    ============
    We will need to trace a connection on both CLIENT and SERVER endpoints to see what is happening. Please follow these steps:
    1. Add the following parameters in the sqlnet.ora file on the CLIENT workstation (where sql loader is executed):
    TRACE_LEVEL_CLIENT=16
    TRACE_DIRECTORY_CLIENT=<some_known_directory>
    TRACE_FILE_CLIENT=client
    TRACE_UNIQUE_CLIENT=ON
    TRACE_TIMESTAMP_CLIENT=ON
    DIAG_ADR_ENABLED =OFF -- add this in case of 11g client
    If you need to restrict the amount of disk space used by the long-term traces then you can also set the following:
    TRACE_FILELEN_CLIENT=<file_size_in_Kbytes>
    TRACE_FILENO_CLIENT=<number_of_files>
    2. Add the following parameters in the sqlnet.ora file on the SERVER:
    TRACE_LEVEL_SERVER=16
    TRACE_DIRECTORY_SERVER=<some_known_directory>
    TRACE_FILE_SERVER=server
    TRACE_TIMESTAMP_SERVER=ON
    DIAG_ADR_ENABLED =OFF
    If you need to restrict the amount of disk space used by the long-term traces then you can also set the following:
    TRACE_FILELEN_SERVER=<file_size_in_Kbytes>
    TRACE_FILENO_SERVER=<number_of_files>
    3. Try to reproduce the issue.
    4. Check if trace files were created.
    5. Disable tracing by removing the TRACE lines from sqlnet.ora on both CLIENT and SERVER.
    6. Compress (in .zip or .tar.gz format) and upload the trace files.
    We only need a pair of client and server trace files for the same sqlplus session which exhibits the issue; in order to match client and server trace files you should use the tips in Note:374116.1 "How to Match Oracle Net Client and Server Trace Files"below is result of failing Journal Import :

    My temporary suspect is on network issue between Apps Server and DB Server (Two-Tier) because with AutoBatch for FAH (Financial Accounting Hub), there is 5 Journal Import Processing on Request and only this one was error.
    My team had raised this issue to SR two days ago, hopefully few hours again, we could see their answer.
