Edit in photoshop is greyed out

I have read all the forums and search engine finds on this question:
Edit in Photoshop selection is greyed out in lightroom cc  (also have Photoshop cc 2014)
I have tried all the suggested fixes  ( registry edit, re-install in all various combinations , all of them )
Still will not function properly (Edit in photoshop  selection still greyed out , in fact all selections, are greyed out)
Seems this started when I recently applied the "update" to light room last week..  any way to go back to previous version ?
Has anyone at adobe have an answer to this ?
Thank you in advance...

sonsteby,
You didn't describe any problem, except for not being able to re-install. And your problem is not the same as brownwood1 had.
Your problem is probably from passing a 16-bit file to Photoshop, and most of the filters only work on 8-bit files. You can change Bit Depth in your preferences:
or you can change mode in PS on an individual basis:

  • Edit in Photoshop CS5 greyed out in LR4 and LR3

Since one of the many upgrade to LR3 I have not been able to edit in photoshop, it is greyed out.  I thought the upgrade to LR$ would deal with this but it has not. I have tried the upgrade to beta 6.7 but this does not help. Would removing CS5 and reinstalling help?  Very frustrating.

  • Lightroom " Edit in" menu drop to work on Photoshop is grey out?

Lightroom “ Edit in” menu drop to work on Photoshop is grey out, even though I have my “store preset with this catalog” unchecked. Do I have to reinstall LR?

Your photos are never "in" the catalog. The catalog just points to your images in their folders on your hard drive. Do you understand what smart previews are and how they are supposed to be used? Are your images on an external hard drive that is disconnected from your computer?

Only way I can proceed is if either restart Firefox (very annoying) or reduce the window and open it again. Please help!

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

You might also ask for help in the Lightroom forum.
What I have found is that when I upgraded from PSE12 to 13, my Lightroom 5.6 still selected PSE12 in the list of external editors. I had to use the preferences menu to select the right PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe in the Program Files/Adobe/Photoshop Elements 13 folder. I got a message stating that Photoshop Elements was already selected as external editor. In that message box, there is a button with the option to 'change anyway', which I did. Now LR correctly opens PSE13 when I choose Edit in Elements.

  • Edit menu Copy function greyed out MSword 2011, v14.1.0 (after I updated to OS X 10.9.5; 4GB 1067 MHz, Processor 2.53 GHz, Intell Core i5)

Edit menu Copy function greyed out MSword 2011, v14.1.0 (after I updated to OS X 10.9.5; 4GB 1067 MHz, Processor 2.53 GHz, Intell Core i5)
The copy function under the edit menu is gone (greyed out) and the short-cut, "command + c" doesn't word. I can only copy by using the copy button on the formatting toolbar, which is slow & annoying. All after I ungraded to Maverick. I've tried several different solutions. Any suggestions? • "Edit in Photoshop": Why is Photoshop is greyed out?

I have LR 3.2 and PS CS5 Extended installed on a Win 7 64 bit PC.  Preferences|External Editing shows Photoshop but when I choose an image and right click, Edit in shows Photoshop greyed out.  (Also when chossing Edit In from the Photo drop-down menu.  I have tried reinstalling ("repair" option) LR but LR does not detect PS.  Any suggestions?

Reinstalling CS5 did the trick.  Thanks.

  • Edit in Adobe Audition Greyed Out in After Effects CC

The "Edit in Adobe Audition" is greyed out in After Effects CC. I imported an mp3 file into my composition, click on it and the link remains greyed out. The link works fine from Premiere Pro CC to Audtion.
Is there a setting somewhere I need to set?

Figured it out. For whatever reason the .sesx file extension wasn't associated with Adobe Audition on my Windows 7 machine. I changed this by double clicking on an .sesx file and adding the association.

  • Edit in Photoshop option grayed out ?

    Hello,
Just upgraded from Lightroom V4.4 to V5.  After this upgrade I find that I can no longer select the option "Edit in Photoshop", the option is grayed out and is not selectable.
I have Photoshop CS6 currently installed and don't have plans to upgrade to Photoshop CC (out of my price range).
Anyone know if Lightroom V5 only interfaces with Photoshop CC now?
    Thanks!
    Bill

I suggest that you try reinstalling either Lightroom or Photoshop, or even both. I have both Photoshop CS6 and Lightroom 5 installed on my computer and Lightroom and Photoshop work together as expected. Lightroom 5 does NOT just interface with Photoshop CC. It will interface with any version that you have installed.

  • How do I edit a Wordpress theme - Greyed out?

    Hi,
I'm new to Dreamweaver and have just successfully setup my Wordpress Site to run in dreamweaver through MAMP.
Using the properties box on the side, I've been able to successfully edit the single line text boxes on my theme.
I am unable to edit any other part of my theme however. Everything I click on the website has all of the options "greyed out" within the properties box.
    1) I'm sure this is probably something quite basic, but how do I edit the properties if they're greyed out?
    2) Also is there a way to copy the properties from one area to another? "Enter Your Email" is in the same font as "Enter Your Message", but they're displaying differently and I'd like them to match.
    3) The menu's on my theme adjust based on the width of the device. On the narrowest width however, they aren't quite lined up correctly. I can't see anything in the properties however (such as margins being used). How would I go about correctly aligning these to the centre?
    Thanks Jake

Most wordpress themes have options that can be changed from within the dashboard, a lot of commercial themes even use 'page builders' that offer a GUI to construct new pages. Be careful when making changes to a template if your not sure what your doing as this can break functionality.
As MurraySummers states most pages are constructed on the fly and use a series of templates- header.php/footer.php etc as well as a series of child themes - page.html etc to construct the pages you see on the screen. The only page that exists in wordpress is index.php. Everything is routed using .htaccess and URL rewriting.

  • Photoshop filters greyed out in CMYK mode

Why filters in Photoshop CC work only in RGB mode/8-bit. In CMYK they are greyed out?
there is a trick which is to apply filters to individual channels, but why is it has to be that painful?
im working on Windows 7 64-bit, Adobe CC.

Not all filters and functions work in all colour modes and bit depths, that is just the way things work. You can always convert from CMYK to RGB, apply your filters and then convert back to CMYK. But of course that is not an optimal way to go in regards to maintaining as much detail information as possible in your images. It's always best to stick with RGB for as long as possible and do the conversion just before print.

  • Edit in Audition is greyed out in PPro CC

Have an audio clip in my PPro CC timeline. Right-clicking it shows "Edit Clip in Adobe Audition" as greyed out.  (Edit video clip in After Effects works fine)

You need system specs for a software menu problem?  Ok, I'll play.
What version of Premiere Pro? Include the minor version number (e.g., Premiere Pro CS5.5 with the 5.5.2 update).
           - As mentioned above, Premiere Pro CC.
Have you installed the recent updates? (If not, you should. They fix a lot of problems.)
           - Everything available through AAM has been installed.
What operating system? This should include specific minor version numbers, like "Mac OSX v10.6.8"---not just "Mac".
           - Windows 8
What kind(s) of source footage? When telling about your source footage, tell us about the codecs, not just the container types. For example, "H.264 in a .mov container", not just "QuickTime".
           - WAV file.
If you are getting error message(s), what is the full text of the error message(s)?
           - As mentioned above, no error message. The option is greyed out in the menu.
What were you doing when the problem occurred?
           - As mentioned above, I was right-clicking the WAV file clip in the PPro CC timeline.
    Has this ever worked before?
           - Not in PPro CC, since PPro CC was just installed today.  It worked perfectly fine in PPro CS6.
What other software are you running?
           - No software other than background processes, and none of those interfered with the availability of this option in PPro CS6.
Do you have any third-party effects or codecs installed?
           - TechSmith codecs from Camtasia.
Tell us about your computer hardware. Be especially certain to tell us about third-party I/O hardware (e.g., AJA, Matrox, Blackmagic, MOTU).
           - i7-990x, 24GB RAM, SSD drives, nVidia 680GTX, Soundblaster Titanium.
Are you using Mercury Playback Engine GPU Acceleration?
           - Yes.
Does the problem only happen with your final output, with previews, or both?
           - Not applicable.

  • Edit original, photoshop file  grayed out

    I am running CS5.5.
I Just started a new project. I made a title in Photoshop CS5 I imported it into my Premiere project dropped it on the time line and it works. But when I tried to Edit Original the command is grayed out.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

I have re-phrased my response to make it NOT sound like having the suite is a requirement for the 'Edit in Adobe Photshop' option to appear.
If you have Photoshop stand-alone installed you will still get that option, in most cases. It just needs to be able to see that Photoshop has been installed. However, I've run tests where I had the suite installeld, installed a later version in addition to the newer suite version, and then upon choosing 'Edit in Adobe Photoshop', the file opend in that later standalone version of PrPro because the OS had changed the affilliation to that version upon install.
I know that there are also cases where the affilitation has been inadvertently set away from Photoshop altogether. Knowing that the user has installed the suite (or both standalone prodcuts of the same version) virtually eliminates that possibility. But in this case, the user was just not seeing the menu item.
@ welchphoto... Perfectly understable mistake. I've done that too. I'm just glad it we could solve it quickly for you.
