Editing a calendar event always changes time zone to CDT

Whenever I create a calendar event in my iPhone or iPad, it is always created with a time zone of "New York".  It always syncs to my other devices and displays them correctly.   However, whenever I edit the event on another device, it always brings the event up in a time zone of "Chicago" and the times are one hour earlier.
For example, I create an event on my iPhone that starts at 11;00am and defaults to the time zone of "New York".  This is what I want.    However, if I try to edit the event on my iPad, it shows the event starting at 10:00am and the time zone is "Chicago".
This was a problem when I had an iPhone 4s using iOS6 and iOS7.    I now have an iPhone 6 on iOS8, and am still having the same problem.
Any ideas?

I was wondering if anybody else has run into this problem.   I've tried everything and cannot figure out how to solve this.

  • How do I stop iCal from changing my gCal events to UTC time zone when entering new events?

Within the last week, iCal has begun automatically changing the time zone of new events I enter via Calendar on my Google calendar to UTC. It does not do this for items entered on my iCal calendar.
I enter the date and time (Pacific Time)  and as soon as I add an invittee or click "Done" it changes the time zone to UTC.
    Prefs:
iCal time zone support is on
Mac time zone is set automatically (and its correctly finding PDT)
gCal time zone is also set for Pacific
    Calendar reads 11-1 pm...
Yes, one solution would be to not use Calendar. Barring that, what do you suggest?

I was having the same problem and spent some time on the phone with apple today.(new computer is under apple care). Tried a ton of stuff with different folks and ultimately I (well, me and 3 apple specialists) was able to solve this issue.
    Here's the break down:
    1. Quit Mail, Calendar and Messages.
    2. Open: System Preference -> Mail, Contacts & Calendars
    3. Delete all your google accounts (using the little minus button below your account list)
    4. Restart your computer.
    5. Re-add your google accounts. (Obviously, keep the calendar box checked).
    6. Open calendar and wait for your google info to populate.
    7. Attempt to add an event with correct time zone.
    IMPORTANT NOTE:
Events I created while I was having the problem still had the problem.
I simply deleted those broken events and recreated them with refreshed settings.
I've only had this working for a few hours so I'm not certain it will stay working forever.
But for now it is a relief.
I realize deleting and re-adding the accounts is annoying but it's a lot less frustrating than seeing UTC every time you add an event.
Hope that helps everyone else having this problem.

  • ICal changes times of my events based on Time Zone! Argh!

    This is so weird...
I travel btwn NYC and LA, and if schedule an event on my iCal, either on the iPad, iPhone or MacBook Pro (all connected via MobileMe), when I change time zones, it changes the time of the event for that time zone. As opposed to keeping it at the correct time that it was actually scheduled at. For example, if I'm in New York City, and create an event for the following week that's taking place at 8pm, when I get to Los Angeles, it tells me the event is at 5pm.
I leave all of my Apple products to Automatically Set Time based on location. Is there something else I should be doing here?
    Help!

Go to settings, then Mail, Contacts, Calendar; then time zone support. Set your time zone.

  • When I create a new event in my calendar in my local time zone, my invitees receive it in GMT. Why how can this be fixed?

When I create a new event in my calendar in my local time zone, my invitees receive it in GMT. Why how can this be fixed?

    Greetings jsubacus,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that your calendar events are appearing in GMT on your calendar in Yosemite. This was a fix in iOS 8.2 for iCloud calendars. I would suggest that you make sure all of your devices are updated to the current software release to help resolve the issue.

  • 6300 - Changing Time Zone (GMT+1) Changes All Cale...

I have a 6300 and a calendar full of important meetings and so on.
Last weekend we went on to GMT+1 hour (British Summer Time).
Changing the time settings in the phone to "GMT+1" changes all the calendar times to +1 hour as well.
Why does the phone do this (is this dumb or what !) ?
How can I get the phone NOT to change the calendar times whilst changing the time of day ?
    Good wishes to all.
    Simon
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Google calendar has resolved this problem for me by allowing Time Zone entries for Calendar items.
    1. I now enter calendar entries with the local time in my Google Travel calendar.
    2. I then duplicate the entry in my Google personal calendar and edit this entry to identify the destination Time Zone.
    3. I then allow Google calendar to update my Outlook calendar. Entries there will show up with the destination time.
e,g. a flight departure from Madrid is scheduled for 6pm. It will show in my Google personal calendar and in my Outlook calendar as 2am the next day. It will still show in the Travel calendar as 6pm.
    4. I let Ovi Suite synchronize my Nokia phone calendar with Outlook which inserts all entries with times for the appropriate time zone e.g. 2am in Madrid.
    5. Now I no longer need to disable automatic Time Zone adjustment in my phone AND lie to the phone that I have NOT changed time zones whenever I change my phone clock for a new country (or Time Zone). In the Madrid example, my calendar entries while in Canada will show a 2am departure and when in Madrid will show a 6pm departure (local time).
    Some benefits are:
    1. Calendar times will show the local time for all entries.
    2. No more calls home at 2am because I forgot the Time Zone differential.
    3. No more missed appointments because I made an incorrect time adjustment.
    3. Automatic Time Zone correction means my phone is always synchronized with local time. This is significant since I have observed that the phone's internal clock tends to drift. Automatic synchronization automaticallt corrects this.
    Points to Consider:
    1. Google is my primary calendar because I can control it's directionality.
    2. Entries in my Google Travel calendar allow me to see the unadjusted times of Calendar entries, e.g. my Madrid flight is at 6pm. Since Google allows you to see multiple calendars simultaneously, I can see events with both destination and home times.
    3. Google will only update one calendar to Outlook (my personal calendar) which is why the Time Zone adjusted times are updated in my Google personal calendar and then to Outlook.
    4. Ovi Suite has insufficient controls on updates and sometimes will reinstall Outllok entries which have been deleted or changed. Because Outlook cannot update the Google calendars it or the Nokia calendar cannot corrupt my master calendar on Google.
    5. This may not resolve all the convoluted Time Zone boundaries experience in the USA but should help.
    6. Have had no problem with DST but also am not dealing with the convoluted Time Zone boundaries experience in the USA.
    7. Before and currently I stll place a copy of the input data in the Description section of my Google calendar entries. These will show up in the Nokia Description unadjusted and immune from change due to outside causes.

  • Problem Changing Time Zones

Why does the Pre calendar change timezones automatically when traveling across the country?  This is very frustrating!  If I am in Los Angeles on Monday and get word of a meeting in New York at 12:00pm (noon) on Wednesday, I want to simply put the meeting into my calendar for Wednesday at noon. But after traveling across the country, my appointment for Wednesday has shifted forward 3 hours on my calendar because it thinks I had the meeting scheduled for 12:00pm WEST COAST TIME. The meeting now shows a start time of 3PM. If I change time zones again, the meeting on my calendar shifts again to reflect the change. My old palms didn't do this.  The iphone doesn't do this.  I think it is simply too much to ask of us to have to make time zone calculations in our heads before entering appointments.  PLEASE FIX THIS ASAP.

This feature can be turned off so the time zone will not be updated but the time still will be.
If you open your launcher and then look for date and time(normally on the 3rd page). Once in here turn off "network time zone" this way the time zone will not update when traveling anywhere.

  • Set Time Automatically without changing time zones?

Is there a way to choose Set Time Automatically (in Settings/General/Date & Time) and not have Calendar change the times of my appointments when I change time zones?

Here's what solved my problem: NOT checking Set Time Automatically, and NOT checking Set Time Zone Automatically.  Then manually selecting the proper time zone and city.
Doing that displays the correct local time, without changing iCal times.

  • Can I set calender invite to set at the same time, even when changing time zone. for example I am in the UK have set a meeting for 10am in NYC for weds, but when getting to NYC it is still set at 10am and doen't adjust to time zone?

Can I set my Calendar invites on a IOS 7 device to set at the same time, even when changing time zones. For example I am in the UK and need to set a meeting for 10am NYC time on Wednesday, but when I reach NYC I don't want the time zones to adjust which will then adjust my meeting I set in the UK to NYC time.

  • Entourage: "Event and computer time zones do not match."

Since installing the latest update to the Mac OS (10.4.6) I have a glitch with Entourage (Office 2004 for Mac v. 11.2.3) and I believe it has something to do with the Mac OS. See below for explanation:
When adding a new calendar event to the calendar, I get an error which reads:
"Event and computer time zones do not match. In Calendar views, the event time is adjusted to display correctly." This is not true. I've checked the time zones in both my OS and Entourage and that is not the problem.
It must have to do with how it interacts with the latest update of the Mac OS. I had not updated software on my laptop for a while, and it did not exhibit this error, so as a test, I downloaded and installed the latest version of Office and tested Entourage: no error message. To be sure, I restarted the computer and tried again: no error. Then I downloaded and installed all of the latest updates to the Mac OS using Software Update: I got the error. So, I think the problem is the interaction between the latest update of Office 2004 for Mac and the latest Mac OS or maybe even just something in the Mac OS.
There are plenty of people complaining about this on the newsgroups at Mactopia. I'm not sure who needs to repair this problem - Apple or Microsoft, but does anyone know if there will be a patch issued by Microsoft to fix the problem? Or maybe my assessment is wrong and you have another solution?
Thanks very much for your help with this problem.

I am in Ohio (eastern time) and I am also having this problem. It is not annoying but my problem is I am not able to schedule any meeting on Entourage. (It will not show if the person I am inviting is busy or not). They use the Exchange server in my company, and I read on the microsoft site that public folders and hence the calendar items are not synced. But seems like this page is for Office X and not 2004. Any clues? Is the time error related to me not able to schedule meetings? I am using latest 10.4 and Entourage 2004.

  • Blackberry and changing time zones

Is there a way to make the Blackberry change according to local time zone?  my other cell phones got the time from the carrier's system, and if i changed time zones the phone would display the local time it got from the tower.  But the Blackberry stays on it's original time, regardless of where I am.
    Steve

No, you can't change that. BlackBerrys do not automatically change with the timezone.
There are valid reasons for that, regarding the calendar and the way it adjusts the times of scheduled meetings.

  • Desktop 4.1.4 does not show calendar event after changing category

Palm Desktop 4.1.4 does not show (properly) a calendar event after changing its category and does not allow me editing it (on PC).
The event  is seen as "grayed" region (no boarder and no 3D elevation shadow) although with different colors reminding the category ones.
Synchronization with my Tungsten E goes normally: I can see the event on the handheld, edit it, etc.
I use Win XP Pro  5.1.2600 SP3 build 2600 installed on Lenovo X61S (x86 based).
    Thanks for any help.

  • Outlook 2007 calendar events font changes after syncing with iTunes

I use Outlook 2007 on a Windows XP PC. I have no problems syncing Outlook calendar events with my iPhone 4 other than for one highly annoying detail. My default font in Outlook is set to Times New Roman 12 pt. Whenever I sync, all of my calendar events' text in Outlook is changed from Times New Roman 12 pt. to Calibri 11 pt., and sometimes more recently, to Arial 10 pt.
It's driving me nuts as I find Calibri to be hideous-looking. In addition to the font change, all other special formatting such as bold and italics are removed.
Has anyone experienced this before or know what's going on? Many thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

Has no one experienced this issue? I can't understand why this happening. It's been almost two months since I posted this.
To reiterate: After syncing with iTunes (the newest version), all custom text formatting in Outlook 2007 calendar events are changed to Calibri 11 point, and sometimes more recently, to Arial 10 point. My default font is set to Times New Roman 12 point.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Create events over multiple time zones

    Hello again,
How do I create events over multiple time zones? For instance, a plane leaves on GMT time zone and lands on GMT+5.
If iCal doesn't allow this, what is your suggested approach in this case?
    Thanks in advance!

You're right, iCal doesn't allow this.
I just add the abbreviation for the timezone at the end of the title. For example: "AA Flight 407 - CDT", keeping in mind that the block of time for that event showing in iCal is always in that time zone.
It's not ideal, but it works for me.

I travel for a living and I can't figure out how to get this 8310 to auto update the time when I fly from one time zone to another. Can anyone help me with this? Thank you so much in advance!

I'm sorry to inform you that the blackberry does not have a feature like this yet. You can read this FAQ and it will give you some tips though.

You would need to set that manually and enter the meeting times in accordingly.
