Editing Final Cut Studio Projects on Final Cut X

Has anyone heard if you will ever be able to edit older Final Cut projects on the FC X?

Editing and cutting music files

I am trying to edit or cut music (mp3) files to around 30 seconds each. I saw in another thread that you can change the start and end time of a song in itunes but that does not save the file to only reflect that period of time. Is there a way in itunes to do that or is there another program I can get to do that for me?

I use Sound Studio, an excellent commercial audio program for the Mac. However if you are only doing a few edits and you want to try out a free open source audio program you could have a look at this one: Audacity

'Add Edit' aka cut/slice/split function working differently in CC. Can't add to tracks selected on left pane (v1, v2, etc).

I've noticed that the 'Add edit' aka cut, slice, split function of PP CC no longer adds the edit to the clips selected in the left pane (v1, v2, etc). Instead I have to highlight the actual clips on the timeline before cutting them. This is inefficient and not how Premiere Pro has functioned since I started using it years ago. Is there a workaround for this? I tried locking the tracks I don't want cut and doing an 'Add Edit to all' but there is a half second to second delay using that method which slows down my editing.

In version 7.2.2, the keyboard shortcut works on all targeted tracks when no clips are selected, and on selected clips without regard to targeting. This gives the best of all possible scenarios.
The tool (C) cuts on the clips you apply it to, without regard to targeting.

Running an fcp studio project (5.0.4) on macbook pro software

I'm running a project on final cut pro studio 5.0.4 and would like to
screen footage on a laptop - preferably on a new macbook.
i'm wondering if i can run a project that's compatible with both versions of the software. i'd like to screen and select scenes on my laptop - and then bring the sequences back into my fcp studio project.

Both versions of what software? You mean FCP 5.0.4 and FCP 5.1?
While you can open and update a 5.0.4 project to 5.1, once you do that you cannot open that project in 5.0.4. At that point you need to export an XML of the sequence and import that XML into 5.0.4.

Unknown error for converting VC project to Measurement Studio project

I create a project in VC environment. When I use "Measurement Studio Add/Remove Cimoibebts Wuzard" or "Measurement Stduio Project Conversion Wizard" to convert my VC project into NI Measurement Studio Project, it appear "Unknow Error" message box. Can someone help me to solve this problem, thanks.
My computer environment is list as following:
Operating System: Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition (SP2)
VC: Visual C++ 6.0 (SP5)
Measurement Studio Version: 6.0

This wizard allows you to add and remove components from your existing Measurement Studio projects. For example, you can add the 3D graph component to a project that acquires data. When you add and/or remove components from an existing project, Measurement Studio saves a backup copy of your .dsp and .dsw files to a subdirectory named MStudio_Backup. The backup copies contain "_mstudio_xxx" in the file name, where "xxx" is a number that distinguishes the backup file from other backup files.
Caution: Visual Studio calls the .dsp file from the .dsw file. When you load a backup .dsw, it calls the updated .dsp file instead of the backup copy of the .dsp, which prevents you from opening the backup copy of the project. If you must open the backup copy of the project, ensure that the .dsw and .dsp files are in the original directory and rename the files to their original names. This overwrites the updated project. To avoid losing information, National Instruments recommends that you perform this step with extreme caution and only when absolutely necessary.

AppleScript Studio projects under Snow Leopard

I know Apple has depreciated AppleScript Studio, but the documents say old projects can still be used, so I assume there's a way to edit my old AS projects. I have the iPhone SDK with Xcode 3.2 and Interface Builder, but it doesn't recognize my AS project files (e.g., MyProject.pbproj). How do I get Xcode to open my old AppleScript Studio project files?

The old .pbproj projects will probably need to be converted or opened in an older version of Xcode, which can be downloaded from Apple's Developer Member Site. The newer .xcodeproj AppleScript Studio projects can still be used in Snow Leopard (it is just not recommended), so if you have an existing project you can enable the AppleScript tab in Interface Builder - see the AppleScriptObjC Release Notes.

Dynamic Image Displays Blank When Using In Visual Studio Project

I am trying to simply display a dynamic image in a report. I am using Crystal Reports XI Release 2.
I have two different environments: Local via Progress where reports are called using Crystal Viewer ActiveX, and over the web where reports are called from Open Laszlo and Visual Studio project.
The image is set to a blank image as default, and Graphic Location Forumla loads the image from the database (site.logo_location + site.logo_filename) which results in an image http:
www.vetinfo3.com\a.jpg.
When I run the reports locally using the ActiveX control, it works just fine and displays the image.
When I run over the web using OpenLaszlo, it displays a blank.
Troubleshooting
We are using Visual Studio 2005, which is bundled with an older version of Crystal that doesn't support dynamic images.
To address this, I loaded Crystal XI Release 2, which updated the version in Visual Studio and enabled the Graphic Location formula field on the dev machine.
I verified the Graphic Location field was set correctly.
This caused a Version error, so we loaded cr_net_2005_mm_mlb_x86.zip on server and specified the Version in web.Config.
No errors now, but when I build and publish the code, the image still displays as blank.

According to issues within Visual Studio, they say the fix to this is to add the <httpHandler> in web.Config, but it is already there; added when we add the viewer to the project:

I have not loaded these yet, but the readme files do not indicate they fix any dynamic image issues.
I am out of ideas on this; does anyone have any ideas?

How to hide different Viual Studio Projects from each other in one TFS Team Project with areas?

Hi,
at the moment I try to set up a "good" architecture for projects in TFS for our company.
As often mentioned in TFS documentation we try to reduce the number of Team projects in our company which is organized in different business units (BUs).
One great Team project shall contain a number of different Visual Studio projects, each one belonging to a separate BU.
The grouping is as follows:
Global Team project
       Business Unit A
                     Visual Studio Project A1
                     Visual Studio Project A2
       Business Unit B
                     Visual Studio Project B1
                     Visual Studio Project B2
The programmers in business unit A must not see the Visual Studio projects of Business Unit B, but both groups (A an B) use the same process model (that is the reason why we try to group them in on team project).
I try to put all the projects from both BUs in one TFS team project and separate them logically by an Area hierarchy like mentioned above.
But areas only separate work items from each other, not Visual Studio projects.
In Source Control Explorer I can only assign security issues on team project level (Global Team Project), not on business unit level.
So every developer in BU A can see the Visual Studio projects in BU B...
How can I model these dependencies?

In Source Control Explorer, you can right-click on Business Unit A folder and select
Advanced>>Security… to deny other group(s)’ access permissions on this folder. Then use the same way to set permissions on Business Unit B folder too.

How to export all edited photos in a project

Once I finish editing photos in a project I often wish to export all of those photos, in their fnal edited form, to a folder which I then burn to a CD and give to someone. I have been using File-Export-Versions thinking that this would do the trick. However, it seems that this process exports the photo without all of my nifty editing. I've looke at the manual, but must be too dense to find the answer. Thanks for any help you can give.

What you are doing should work.
Here is a recipe -- try it and report back.
Select the Project.
Clear all filters.
Filter using the Rule "Adjustments" with the setting "are applied".
Add other Rules as desired (e.g.: Rating is 4★ or better).
Select all Images.
"File→Export→Version", and choose an Export Preset that meets your needs.
Masters are the un-changed (and never changed by Aperture) original files that you imported. Versions are Images that you have made by changing these in some way. Exporting a Version should always include any Adjustments present in the Version.

How can I double-click a file to open it in default app in my Visual Studio project without creating an installer?

I have an app with code to open a file by double-clicking on it. The app in my Visual Studio project file should start automatically and then open the file automatically. I double-click on the file, then look for the app in my solution folder (I choose the
.exe in the Debug folder). Am I choosing the correct .exe file?
What I'm trying to do is test some code I wrote that will open the associated file type when I double click on it, as opposed to creating an installer, installing the app and then double-clicking on the file to see if it will open in the associated app automatically.

Yes, I think you could doubt click the .exe file in your local machine.
Of course, maybe you could get it in Bin\Debug or Bin\Release folder, it is related to the current project settings.

How can I keep the edited video which in project into Libray for re-edit ?

How can I keep the edited video which in project into Libray for re-edit later ??
As i used i movie 06 before....
after i imported the videos in to the library, then i can drag the videos to the timeline(now is project)
then edit it.
After that i can just drag all the timeline clips which is edited to the library.So I can keep it for next time if i wanna re-edit.
But Now if did all the editing at the library clips then drag to project, i can not drag the project clips back to library, so how can i keep it for my editing safty?
I do not wanna to edit again the same clips from the library!!! as i need to edit many different short clips together then export to individual videos, and i may need to re-edit.
or i can keep the edited video in project, then i can selected the clips which i willing to export, the rest video who in the project will not be export at the same video? I m wondering....
please help!!! Urgent!!

Just keep the project. Then you can just duplicate the project and make the next set of changes as needed. By duplicating the project, you are not duplicating the event, just the links to the event library.
This way you are not eating up disk space.

the target Office client. To debug those apps, update manifest files to exclude any unsupported API sets or Office applications, and then start the project again. Alternatively, you can debug your apps by using Office 365 as a target." when when
updating the JavaScript API for Office and manifest schema files in your Visual Studio project from version 1.0 to 1.1 in manifest file though i have added host elements.

Based on the description, you got the error message when you update the apps from version 1.0 to 1.1.
From the error message, it seems the menifest include some settings no allowed in the new version. Would you mind sharing more detail about how you update the project?

I just bought a new iMac and am ready to purchase Logic Pro X, but I have a Presonus Fire Studio Project with a firewire 400 as my connection. Will this work with my new iMac? I purchased the Presonus around 2007.

I just bought a new iMac 10.9 and am wanting to purchase Logic Pro X. My question is I have a 2007 Presonus Fire Studio Project 8 channel input box that hooks up with firewire 400 I believe, will this work with Logic ProX on my new iMac?

You will need a Thunderbolt to Firewire adapter... may also need a Firewire 800 to 400 connector/adapter.
Also need to make sure Presonus has Maverick drivers for the FSP.

How to modify a Visual Studio project for having traces at the beginning and the ending of a function

I am working on a Visual Studio project (written in C) and in order to do some debugging, I would like to add traces.
This can be done in different ways:
int function_1();

#endif... }
=>But as this implies that I need to copy the name of the functions everywhere, this is a lot of work.
A better approach:
int function_1();
{ #ifdef DEBUG
printf("%s \n", __FUNCTION__);
#endif... }
=> This is already better, but I still need to add those lines of code everywhere at the beginning (and the end) of my functions.
So I'm wondering, would it be possible to modify my Visual Studio project in such a way that some lines of code are added at the beginning and the ending of a function, and this for a whole file, project, solution? Does somebody know how to do this?
