Editing Sample Audio Difficulties

I'm still currently new to Logic in general but I've tried to spend a lot of time with the manual but still I can't find the answer there so I figured I'd ask you guys, the vets. Anyway, the problem I'm having is that when I import an audio file and pull it up in the sample editor for some reason I'm unable to actually manipulate the file. Almost all of the options under the "Functions" tab as well as the "View" tab are gray so I can't click them to access tools such as the Time and Pitch Machine. Any feedback, tips, or advice would be deeply appreciated. Thanks.

Sounds like a permissions issue.
Find the audio file on your hard drive, select it, and hit apple/I (get Info).
At the bottom of the info tab, make sure all permissions are set to "Read & Write".
Also, If you are trying to edit an audio file in a template, that you haven't saved as a song yet, Logic may restrict access to the audio files. I'm not 100 percent certain that's correct, but I've seen it do some weird sh*t under circumstances like that.

  • How do you edit samples in esx 24?

    Hello,
I am trying to edit my saples in ESX 24 by clicking on the triangle next to the audio files name and choosing "open in sample editor." I edit the audio file, close sample editor wanted thew sample to reflect the edit but it does not.
    Thank you.

    Hi Jan Due1,
I split 1 audio file into 10 different regions on the arrange page. I select them all~right click~choose convert to new sampler track and logic creats a new ESX instrument and imports each region as a seperate sample. I want to open up each sample in the sampler editor and edit the region that the saple will play back but when I close the sample editor it goes back to its orrigional position.

  • In adobe audition cc how do i edit my audio stereo in waveform

in adobe audition cc how do i edit my audio stereo in waveform i dont know where i tried everywhere please help

To expand on what ryclark says, you have to set the sample rate on your sound card or audio interface.  If you're just using the onboard sound chip, that'll be on the Sound menu on the control panel.  For that, go to the Playback Device menu, select your device, then properties, then Advanced.  There'll be a drop down menu listing the available sample rates you can choose.  You then have to do the same on the Recording Devices tab, at this has to match what you set on playback.  Finally, you have to make sure that Audition (Edt/Preferences/Audio Hardware) is set to the same as your sound card.
If you have a specialist sound card, the setting will probably be in software you installed when you hooked that up.
Note that you're unlikely to find ANY sound card or audio interface that can use 20,000Hz as a sample rate though.
My normal advice if you need a low sample rate for some reason is to do your work at one of the standards (say 44,100 or 48,000) then convert the finished product.  I know that some things like answering machines want lower sample rates.  However, even this method won't give you 20,000.  The presets in Audition jump from 16,000 to 22,050 which are standards in the industry.
Perhaps if you can explain why you want to use 20,000 Hz sampling?

  • Edit by audio clips on iMovie 11

I have video interviews that I'm editing, which is difficult because I can't rely on visuals to tell me where to cut—no one's moving much, they're just talking. Is there a way of enlarging the audio line so i can see the spikes and dips a little clearer. Any other tips would be appreciated. I'm new to iMovie. Thanks.

I've seen one suggestion relating to Revealing the Clip in the Finder. Try this:
Go to the Reject Clips by clicking on the pulldown menu at the bottom where it says Show: (choose Rejected Clips Only). Then <CTRL> click on on of the red striped thumbnails choose Reveal in Finder. When the Finder window launches, your clip will be highlighted. Select it and drag it to the trash.
Quit iMovie, then relaunch it and go back to the Show: (Rejected Clips Only) see if that clip is now missing from the list of Rejected Clips. If this works and your Project file still plays back successfully I would say it's safe to continue deleting as needed. But if you have some problems and the Project has been affected there might be another reason you cannot delete the clips.
iPhoto Videos are not deletable in the traditional iMovie Rejected Clips kind of way. They are under full control and jurisdiciton of iPhoto. And as a result, iMovie is not allowed to do anything other than 'copy' or re-use them in a Project. Deletion of iPhoto Videos in iMovie will not work. So your only real option is to try deleting them from iPhoto instead. So just be aware of where your video clips are located in the iMovie Event Library and everything should be OK.

I Solved the problem partially by using CoolEdit instead of Sonar and in the Setting-Multitrack Tab, i activated "correct for drift in recording"

First try to play your video on the PC. Use Quicktime 7 and it should work.
If it does the same thing on the PC then the video encoding has created this problem. Nothing wrong in the phone. You will need to re-encode. May I enquire as to which software you are using to encode?
If it plays correctly on the PC then your best bet is to lower the bitrate or the frame rate of the video, re-encode, transfer and try again.
I recommend using h263 as the video codec as this will be "safer" to use. Try 3gp extension format as well.
640K Should be enough for everybody

Is your Premiere Elements 12/12.1 running on a Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 64 bit computer or a Mac computer?
What is the brand/model/settings of the camera recording your video?
    Windows 7 64 bit PC
Footage taken from DVD through Adobe Premiere Elements
Are you sure about the Frame Width and Frame Height that you gave 720 x 484? Did you mean 720 x 480?
    Yes, my err.  720X480
For the Frame Rate, was it really 29.97 frames per second and you rounded it off to 29 frames per second? Or,
is the frame rate really 29 frames per second?
If the properties that you just posted are representative of your source file, what project preset did you or the
project set for the project preset? If you are not sure, please tell us the readings for Editing Mode, Timebase, Frame Size,
and Pixel Aspect Ratio under Edit Menu/Project Settings/General.
Still having problems - haven't been able to edit project.
    Thank you for your help.

  • Found Audacity for my background noise. Can I edit my audio files in the FCPX event folder in Finder?

I think I found the solution to my background noise problem using Audacity.
But can I edit my audio files that are in FCPX Event folder in Finder? Or do I actually have to edit my project all over again to put in new audio (edited by Audacity)?

No, copying the whole Project and Event is just too much of a waste of time.
Do this, in the Browser, select the audio file you need to take to Audacity.  Export it as a Master File, and in the Settings section of the Share window, set Format to Audio Only.  Set Audio File Format to AIFF.  Set Open With to "Other" and select Audacity.  Then pick your Desktop as the location to save the file.
In Audacity, do whatever it is you want and save it.
Back in FCP X, import the new "fixed" file, be sure to check the box to copy it to your Event folder.
Finally, if necessary, do a Replace edit with the new version to the old one if it has already be edited into a Timeline.

  • How do you edit the audio files in the slideshow  of my idvd project?

I have created a project in idvd and I dragged and dropped in the music files from the audio tab that I wanted - I selected multiple songs (2) and I hear them play just fine. The problem is that I want one song to play for a certain section of the photos and then I want the other song to start at a particular point. Why am I not able to edit the music in the slideshow and how can I do that?

iMovie is a good way to do this if your project is film based. If your using photos (slideshow) in iDVD, I would be inclinded to use GarageBand to edit the audio portion of your project (It may be just me, but whenever I've attempted to create a slideshow in iMovie, the photos look "grainy" to me, not as clear).
If you know the time of when you want your songs to change, you can adjust the length (time) of each song in GarageBand as well as fade in/fade out transition of the two or more songs. After saving, you then can access the saved audio mix via the audio tab in iDVD. (I'm making an assumption that one might be familiar enough with GarageBand to do this

How can I edit imported audio track? After selecting and deleting region, and joining remaining parts, it keeps playing the track with the deleted region!
    What am I doing wrong?

After selecting and deleting region, and joining remaining parts, it keeps playing the track with the deleted region!
    What am I doing wrong?
How exactly are you doing this?
When I cut out a part of an audio region, then drag the remaining parts together, so they are touching, the track will skip the cut out section when playing the file.  Also, if I select the remaining parts of the region and use the command "Edit > join regions". This will create a new audio file with the cut out part deleted.
You should see this prompt, when you are joining the regions:

  • How do you edit cropped audio?

    Hello everyone
I would like to apply a cutoff to the frequency range of my audio using Crop, then edit the cropped audio in the Multitrack mode.
The following page explains how to crop audio but doesn't explain how to make edits to it in the Multitrack mode:
Adobe Audition Help | Copying, cutting, pasting, and deleting audio
Can you just select Crop in the Waveform mode, save the cropped data and make edits to the data in the Multitrack mode?
    Thank you in advance,

  • Is it possible to edit/change audio files in a published html5 file?

Is it possible to edit/change audio files in a published html5 file?

Theoretically, YES, but they would need to be in exactly the same format and have the same filename.  Why would you be wanting to do this?  If the new files are not the same playing length, this could potentially throw out any synchronisation with other elements in the presentation.

  • Editing FCE audio with Garage Band?

I've never tried to edit FCE audio with anything except FCE itself and SoundSoap. Can Garage Band edit FCE audio without messing up the video? I seem to recall trying to edit FCE audio with Audacity once, but lost the video information when I saved the edit. I never tried it again. It would be nice to be able to cut and past a bit of ambient room noise to cover some unwanted audio.

    Martin,
I thought I'd tried that before and was not successful. I'll try again. And I'll resolve to be more persistent and not give up at the first obstacle.
I recall seeing a tutorial of SoundTrack Pro where you could copy and replace a bit of audio. I suppose that's too much to ask of FCE or the now departed SoundTrack?

  • I just loaded Audition, but when I try to edit an audio track from Captivate the "edit in adobe audi

I just loaded Audition, and already had Captivate on my computer. I'm trying to edit an audio track from Captivate, so I go to Audio>Edit>Slide. But, the window that comes up does not have the "Edit in Audition" button activated. The button is faint, thus doesn't work. How do I sync these two programs so I can edit a Captivate Audio file in Audition?

    From the captivate help file:
You can use Adobe Audition to edit audio when you want to go beyond the audio editing options available in Adobe Captivate. For example, to apply filters or remove noise, you need an advanced audio editor such as Adobe Audition. You can either edit the audio files from slides or batch process by opening multiple files in Adobe Audition using the Library panel.
The changes reflect in Adobe Captivate library and the associated slides where the audio files are being used. The saved files are reimported to Adobe Captivate with the slide associations intact.
Note:  This feature is available only in Adobe Captivate that is installed as a part of Adobe eLearning Suite.
I think that the last line probably answers your question....

  • The sample audio files in Final Cut Pro X will not play

How can I hear the sample audio in Final Cut Pro X without dragging the clips onto the timeline. They used to play, but stopped after the computers were connected to Tenaka.

The only way to test it is to go to Network system prefrences and switch off all connections to networking. There are no plugins for FCP that are used for network connections.

Just discovered this nifty little bug myself today. Boy, Leopard is really bug city, I'm definitely regretting the upgrade. I was glad to find the 'show in mailbox' trick, although then once I went to re-send the message, it duplicated it for some reason and sent it twice, so now my business contact thinks I'm a moron because I sent him this super large attachment TWICE thanks to moronic Mail.app.
Another interesting thing though, is that after finding the email via 'show in mailbox' and opening it, it actually displayed the MP3 attachment as the old Tiger quicktime player (w/progress bar) as opposed to when I first composed the message and it would only display it as an icon. I thought they had just removed that feature for some reason, but nope! Another bug!
