Editting a report require name change in 3.1

if you edit a report in ea3.1, you must change the name, to avoid "Name already used please enter new one", which sounds like a bug

Hector,
as far as I know this file contains data about jobs scheduled for the reports server, so the only tool that can read that file is the reports queue manager (and maybe the only forum that can help you is the reports forum;).

How to validate data in editable ALV report after making changes

Hi Folks,
My requirement is to display data in ALV format with quantity field is editable. Once we get the data in display mode only quantity field is enabled right. I am going to make changes to that quantity field and updating that modifed value to the database table. Before updating databse table i want to validate the data for perticluar field which I edidted(Quantity).
Can you guide me on this.
Currently I am using FM: GET_GLOBALS_FROM_SLVC_FULLSCR and calling the method CHECK_CHANGED_DATA.
I want to validate the quantity data.
If I entered negative value like -100 instead of 100. It should validate and show some popup screen or message.
Pls guide me on this or give some code to do that.

Report Required :Salary changes no of time in year.

My client wants a report:
From 01.04.2009 to 31.03.2010 (All Active Employees) How many times the salary has got revised for the employee.
Note: Because they have policy of hiring the employee on probation for 3 or 6 months once the completion of probation the salary would get revised & aslo there is a chance ot increment on Appraisal.
Do we have any report to fetch the above details.

Presentation Layer column name change effects on existing reports ?

I have one requirement where user are not sure about the column names in Presentation Layer.
so they want us to create the reports and once the reports are delivered they will give us the column name as per their requirement.
now i read couple of blogs related to this, that does it affects the exiting reports?
in couple of blogs they says that i won't. becaus BI server creates the alias for the old name and will reflects it wherever it's used in reports..
So can anyone tell me where this alias name has been stored in OBIEE?
and is there any precaution that needs to be done while doing this beacuse we are expecting to create around 40-50 reports and changing the column name after changing the presentation layer name change will increase lots of work..

I've confirmed it on a 10g environment that when you rename the column in the RPD the existing reports reflect the change.
What I was referring to in the statement you highlight is that a column name can be changed when being used as the definition of a report. If somebody specifies an abbreviation of the current name to fit it in a table or chart then it will not be updated from a name change in the RPD.
So long as you build reports using the name provided by the RPD and none of the developers take the liberty of renaming it in the column properties of the request/analyses the single rename should take effect through all the reports you build.
You can also manage the column name by renaming it in a report and using the save as system wide default. But the way you intend to do it would be the best method.

Report painter object name change during transport

We have a requirement to add 5 fields (In selection screen) to report painter reports ( Reports of CJE3 and GRR3 ).We created Z reports as a copy of standard reports, added required 5 fields by implementing SAP notes and other settings .We have also done implicit enhancements for all these reports to make change in the behavior of new fields .This is working fine in the development client but the problem is once we transport this to Quality system new reports get generated( With new name ) and implicit enhancement will be lost.
For E.g.:
In development client for CJE1/CJE2 report the program name will be "GPAVPSATWFP4NN0YRDBIQBHI8MQ" (In this program we have done implicit enhancement )
but when we transport it to other client new program "GP8O1UCNZTJYY5LTO8GN0UW2GQB" is generated in which implicit enhancements are not found.

The error below makes absolutely no sense! I'm using Enterprise Core...yet I'm being told I can't use remote data sources:

According to your description, you are using Enterprise Core edition and you are prompted that you can’t use remote data sources.
In your scenario, we neither ignore your point nor be doubt with what you say. But actually we have met the case before that even though the SQL Server engine is Enterprise but the reporting services is still standard. So I would recommend you to find the
actual edition of reporting services you are using. You can find Reporting Services starting SKU in the Reporting Service logs ( default location: C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\<instance name>\Reporting Services\LogFiles). For more information,

My changes edited on editable ALV report are not transferring back to itab?

I was developed a heirarchila editable ALV by using FM 'REUSE_ALV_HIERSEQ_LIST_DISPLAY'. The user will do some changes in the ITEMs (Z_VBAP_TABLE) on this heirarchila ALV report and presses the SAVE button.
In my program am handling this SAVE command and even my break point is also triggering at SAVE, but my ITAB is not having the CHANGED/new data!! still it has the old data in it! How to capture the user changes done on the report? those changes are not tranferring back to my itab/prog! because, ineed to update Z_VBAP_TABLE with those changes

This i did a long back. Check your code . I created an alv that will display data from my table . In this the user can click in any line item and he can change any value and press save that will save the value .

Column name changed in reports

I have to do some changes on my existing report, its really a complex report with more number of columns and tables. now its really hard to fix the alias name changed by report builder automatically. any one could help me to fix this problem, means what i have alias name in query that i want to use in report.

Could you pl clarify the Q? Do you mean that Reports Buider has automatically added an alias to a column name? This is not expected.
Or do you mean that you need to change the alias of the column without disturbing the report definition? You can alter the data model of the report using the feature "Customization at runtime using XML". For more information, refer to Chapter 16 in Publishing Reports Manual for 10g:

Error message says it all.
With SQL Express, Data source should be local SQL DB.
With SQL Enterprise, Standard, BI edition, you can create Data soruce which are hosted on other servers.
