EDL framerate problem.

Hi, I'm working on some R3D material, and I have a problem with EDL export Premiere Pro ot Speedgrade.
I export the sequence to EDL, load that EDL into speedgrade, and load the clip from desktop. The problem is that I get a red warning box,
telling me that there's a problem between the sequence framerate and the clip framerate.
In Premiere Pro, the clip and the sequence are both 25fps. I export the EDL as it is. Load into speedgrade and it gets read as a 24fps timeline....

Hey mafetapaz,
please stop by the EDL Conform section in our Online Help:
http://helpx.adobe.com/speedgrade/using/conform-edls.html
You can force the load the EDL with a specific Framerate.
go to> Settings > Editing > ED edit/Footage framerate >> 'Footage has the FPS specified below....'
let me know if that works.
cheers,

i have an athlon 64 3400+, msi k8t neo fis2r, 120 gb seagate barracuda, corsair xms series pc3200 512MB ram(with black heatspreader), gainward geforce fx5700ultra, 500w allied power supply.  I'm having terrible framerate problems when i'm playing games.  It doesn't matter what game i'm playing...i've been playing unreal tournament as a tester game.  At first I thought i had a bad video card so i sent that back.  I'm still having the same problem.  I've flashed my bios, sp1a, all the newest chipset drivers, set my RAM timings, newest video card drivers (53.03), everything.  I don't know what is going on.  My games run at the same frame rate at 640x480 then when they are on 1024x768.  When I turn vsynch on, i'd say about half or maybe more of the time i'd have bad frame rate, when I turn vsynch off my games play reallllly fast.  It seems to jump in and out of normal rate of play.  I was talking to my friend and he thought it was the timing chip on my motherboard.  I'm on my last straw and i'm about to send this board back for a replacement.

I dont know what you mean by am i letting windows install it...but i'm using live update to download it then it automatically installs itself.  I'll try that uninstall the agp thing on the 4 in 1 but I doubt it'll do anything seeing as how i've probably reinstalled windows 4 or 5 times and installed the 4 in 1 drivers each time to no avail.  I really think my mobo's agp slot is bad or something on my mobo is bad.  I was using a 300W psu for awhile, that might have done something to the board.

  • Flash Video Framerate Problem in CS5

I just upgraded from DW CS3 to CS5.
After inserting an .flv on a page, on previewing the page with IE, it looks like the framerate is about 15 fps instead of 30 fps.
If I open the page in CS3 and insert the video, it previews at the normal frame rate and looks great.
I am, unfortunately, an HTML illiterate, and have scraped by for years using only design mode.
I would definitely appreciate any thoughts on this problem.
This particular site has a lot of video content, so I need to solve this or it's back to CS3 for me

How do you know that the fps is 15?
As for a 40 min video being 600MB, that means that "roughly" the video bitrate is 2000kbps (2Mb/sec).
Unless you are just targeting very high-speed Internet connected viewers, that's WAY out of the ballpark for many viewers.
I'd suggest testing first at a much lower video bitrate (500-1000kbps).
Typically Web video problems are related first to too high a video bitrate and only under certain situation, the length of the video. Non the less, it's still a good practice to keep the videos at a reasonable length. It's also important that your media player be able to stop the video file download if you "stop" the video, to prevent the viewer from having to (unwittingly) downloading the entire video file, even if the viewer does not view the entire video. Test some of the players suggested.. but use THEIR suggested code for placing on the page.. not DW.
There should be nothing in DW that changes the fps of a video....period. If there is, then it's because something is broken.
So skip the DW supposedly automagic insert code and code it in by hand, which is probably a better idea anyway (and this comes from a dedicated DW user!)
I'd suggest using swfobject to place your Flash on the page instead of any code that DW suggests. swfobject not only provides for Flash detection, but allows you to provide alternate content for viewers that may not have the Flash pluggin... like the iPhone.:

so you can play Flash on the iPhone....well sort of...

  • MSI vox usb2.0 framerate problem

    Hi.
I'm having a problem with my external USB2.0 tuner box.
Right after i have installed the driver, it works nicely, and i get ~25fps on the tv (the CPU load is 40%), but when i do anything (like change the video input), the framerate goes down to ~12fps (and the CPUload down to 20%). Now the fps stays there, and its not nice to look at tv with 12fps. If i use the built-in video-recording function in InterVideo MSIPVS, and start recording, the framerate goes back up to 25 again!! But that's only while recording, cos when i stop recording, it drops down to 12.
    What the heck?
    Can someone help me?

After installing my new X-Fi extreme Music, framerates in Gun have dropped to the point where the game is entirely unplayable. I've done some looking around and apparently a few games suffer performance hits with the X-Fi (which is rather odd).
Is there any way to remedy this? I don't want to have to return my card, but there isn't much point to having amazing sounds in games I can't play.

yeah i have Audigy 2 ZS and i finished the game like that,
the way it works like connection problems, lag to be accurate, sometimes the game like doing some proccesing workup and this way the game just hung for 2 or 3 sec and than worked fine.
i dunno if its the audigy newest drivers 2.8.002 , but i know its not other thing.

  • Framerate problem after burning PAL Blu-ray

Hi folks, bit of a rookie here. Usually try to work my way around things but this is a new area for me and I'm a little stumped!
Basically I'm using Encore CS5 to burn a Blu-ray from footage rendered from Final Cut. The footage is from a Sony HDV camera that records 1440x1080 50i. After the transcoding and burning was succesful I found that while looking good the footage was playing at 50fps on both a PS3 and a Panasonic player. I've tried leaving the transcoding settings on automatic and setting them manually to 1440x1080i 25 High Quality MPEG-2, both times the framerate was running at 50fps. So am I missing something obvious here to get the Blu-ray to playback at 25fps? Thanks in advance for any contributions!

    50i is still 25 fps
but if you want proper 25p you should upscale your material to 1920x1080 25p, and be shure the setting is no fields (progressive scan)
    Good luck

There is problem when trying to play ntsc videos (29.97 fps - video ormats h264 mp4-flv-f4v-mov), it drops some frames and stuttering video. So, flex video components has a default video frame rate? i think it is only reading 24 frames , not reading other frames and so stuttering.
Tried it with  s:videodisplay, mx:videodisplay, flash.media.Video, org.osmf.elements.VideoElement  components and all of it the result is same it is not playing ntsc videos with real frame rates and stuttering. Also tested different videos.

  • Framerate problems...

    Hi all,
I am trying to create a DVD for my parents on their memories over the past 20 years. I feel I've created a really good movie. Now the first time I burned to DVD using idvd 08 the video came out on my tv wonderfully smooth and clean. I wanted to make a few adjustments on imovie 08 after watching it on imovie on the tv and so added a few titles and altered the music. When I burned it a second time I get awful frame-rate problems (in my opinion) though it could b something else. The video is juttery and shaky.
This problem is driving me crazy - I've tried burning 3/ 4 times on new dvd-rw's and still its juttery and shaky- gives me a headache.
The video seems to export ok from imovie 08- doesn't seem shaky when payed before burning on the imac. Although its hard to tell because I played all the videos on a larger tv where shaking is amplified.
If anyone could get back to me it would make my parents so happy. They don't even know about the dvd- but I can't show them something that is so shaky it'll give them a migraine..!!
    Thank you..

    hi quicktimekirk,
What I did was to export the file in large then placed the file in the movies folder. Then I opened idvd and dragged the file from the movies folder onto the template...Is this what you mean? If so then I think I did that. I haven't erased and re- burnt any dvd's just kept using brand new DVD RW's. Every time I burned the DVD's I did it through idvd after reconfiguring the project...

  • Framerate problems playing HD in fullscreen.

I am watching an HD video purchased from the iTunes store. The video plays perfectly (both within iTunes or with Quicktime Player directly) at actual-size. However, if I put the video in Fullscreen mode in either player, the video becomes choppy, especially in high action scenes. It seems almost like it is dropping frames.
The odd thing is that the video is 1280x720 and my screen resolution is 1280x1024, so bringing it to Fullscreen is not resizing the video at all.
I have looked into the video and advanced options in Quicktime and experimented with the DirectX settings as well disabling full-screen controls, but to no avail. I was hoping for a frame-drop control, an option to sync frame-rate to my monitor, or anything else other media players often have, but no such options exist for Quicktime.
I would like to play the video in Fullscreen to remove the bright colored Quicktime frame. Is there a known fix for this?

If you weren't playing a DRM-encumbered movie, I would say to use an external player such as VLC.
So, you played with the Advanced DirectX settings -- did you try just disabling "Enable Direct3D Video acceleration"?
You could also check if your video card drivers are up-to-date.

  • Send to Speedgrade and Export EDL problems

So I'm working on a small series. I've got a final cut on Premiere Pro, and having already tested out Speedgrade I would like to use that for my final color correction and export. However I'm running into problems I'd never run into before. First the "Send to Speedgrade" option. When I use Send to Speedgrade, having my sequence selected, for some reason it is only exporting the audio and not the video. Once Speedgrade opens all I have is the .wav in the timeline from my sequence, but nothing else, all on one track. I've tried making sure my video was all on one track in Premiere Pro, and exported the audio and re-imported to put that on a single track in Premiere Pro as well, but still no joy. Seems strange cause I've never had this issue.
So I tried the export as EDL function, which never seems to work cause certain "edits" are not supported (even though it's just simple cuts.) In another forum I found out the issue can also be with the audio, so I tried to cut the audio from my sequence in Premiere Pro, export as EDL, and then open up that within Speedgrade, and importing the aformentioned audio track separately on the speedgrade timeline. This lets me open the EDL no problem (no red error message) and then reconnect the reels using my desktop, but my issue then becomes the audio. I can bring the audio in fine, but I didn't count on the fact that when I rebuild the reels it uses the audio from the original files as well. (obviously I can mute the track, as I just realized that simple fix while writing this issue up, but I still feel like I might be doing something wrong - because when I try to consolidate all the audio/video onto two separate tracks in Premiere Pro, it'll let me open the EDL I export into speedgrade, but the audio is still not showing up unless I import that separately.)
Anyway this is just weird as I never ran into these problems before. They might be first version issues that have been resolved, but I refuse to update speedgrade because everytime I do it crashes on startup, and no one has helped me with that previous issue, and despite my best efforts at resolving it using the forums I haven't had any luck.

Regarding the problem when you "Send to Speedgrade" and only the audio shows up, I just worked through the same problem (Premiere Pro CC 7.01)
You need to make sure the "work area bar" is selected around your timeline that you want to send to Speedgrade. If it has disappeared mysteriously (as it did for me), simply double-click where it usually shows up and it will reappear, with in and out points set to the extents of your timeline. Then send to Speedgrade and the video is sent along with the audio. Seems like a bug, or at least something that can be better documented. Though I suspect this workflow has changed in 7.1 ...

  • Gameplay problems with Intel iMac

I have an Intel iMac with 2GB RAM and the 256MB graphics card. Despite this equipment spec, in playing Medal of Honor Allied Assault, I often experience some lag/framerate problems - in the "Day of the Tiger" opening mission, the game runs so slooooooowly that I become a standing target. What's up with this?!? Is it a Rosetta issue? Seems to me that with the hardware I have, it should run flawlessly, Rosetta or no Rosetta.

Yeah, just tried lowering the game settings so far that it looks like it's being played on an old 386 PC...and the @$% thing *STILL* freezes up solid in the first 30 seconds of the initial "Day of the Tiger" mission. The lag problems in the earlier missions were annoying, but not serious enough to necessitate lowering the graphics to cartoon level, or to disrupt frame rates to the point where the game is literally unplayable. I've already submitted a 2-star review for MOHAA on the Apple Store, so hopefully my experience will inform others...
Any recommendations re a WW2 themed 1st person shooter that actually WORKS on our machines?!?

  • Assemble second system audio

We are recording multiple audio tracks in the field with Metacorder which is getting timecode from camera. The editor(s) can import these poly BWav files no problem. They unfortunately don't/won't sync them up and make a merged clips before editing shows. It was suggested that we could use 'reconnect' to swap camera audio with field audio. This doesn't work really. FCP DOES swap the audio but only with the first two channels (there are often 8 channels in our field sound). However, it does not do anything which will help in any way shape or form for audio post to reference the Field audio files. it does not even change the file name in the sequence. Even if it was useful, someone would have to go to every edit and swap with field audio. There should be an elegant and easy way to do this!
Does anyone know of a way to replace camera audio with field sound within a FCP sequence that works (yes the audio and video have matching timecode)??
FCP does NOT pass source TC of the audio files in the OMF. Does anyone know of a third party app that fixes this?
Ever since FCP 6, our systems will no longer export EDLs. You select it and it does exactly nothing. Any word on this?
Why am I not getting the option for the OMF to reference files? The OMF export process bypasses any and all options now.

    something's hinky with you system
I can export edl no problem.
to really get a clean omf export check out automatic duck FCP export

haven't tried importing any bwf lately there was an issue with drop frame code I believe. any second system connecting I've done in FCP was all manual. get the in from the clip copy to the import audio, get the out copy to the imported audio, drop it in the timeline and test for phase

  • Capturing 32kHz audio

Should I be capturing sync DV video and audio shot at 30fps and 32kHz with an audio capture setting at 32kHz or 48khz. I ve tried both. When capturing at 48khz I get a warning about my audio capture rate not matching the rate at which it was shot, but the clip comes into the machine in sync. When I capture at 32, I no longer get the dialogue box, but the clip comes into OUT of sync. What are the ramafications of me capturing stuff shot at 32kHz at 48kHz. I'm using FCP (5) for the first time and will be eventually outputting to 24fps DI for a film release. I want to be exacting in the way I use FCP so that I do not end up with EDL list problems at the finish. Thanks

    Don,
Put your 32khz clip in the timeline and select Export>Quicktime Movie Current Settings >Audio Only
Give it a useful name .e.g. Myclip audio.mov
Open up Quicktime Pro & import the file.
    In QTP, Export>Sound to AIFF>Options>Compressor None>48khz/16bit/Stereo
    Save the file
Once back in FCP - import the newly created AIFF file, Unlink the Audio from the Video of your clip, delete the audio from the timeline and put your new audio clip in the delete one's place and Relink the audio and video.
    Good luck.

  • Problems with framerate - only in browser

I'm seeing an odd problem with my framerate in Flash, and I'm wondering if anyone here has seen something similar.  (Sorry if this is a duplicate post - This feels significant enough that I'm positive I'm not the first one to ask about it, but checking the search, all I was able to find were threads over 2 years old, which didn't look related.)  So here goes:
I'm working on a fairly interactive swf, and am noticing that the framerate appears FAR more choppy when I view it in a browser window than I do if I run it through the debug environment or as a stand alone player.
    Here's my situation:
My movie's framerate is 30 fps.
Running it in the Dev environment, the flash player, or in a standalone player all runs fine.  Perfectly smooth.
Running it in a web page, it looks very choppy.
According to the MOVIE, it is running at full speed.  (I have a framerate counter in the corner, and even in a web browser, it never wavers.)
(Here's where it gets weird) If you move the mouse over the movie.... just move it, doesn't have to click or anything....then as long as you are actually MOVING the mouse...  the framerate turns normal.  So if you're willing to sit and constantly move the mouse, it plays normally.
So.  What does this mean?  Well, the short term answer is that my swf runs choppy unless someone sits and keeps the mouse moving at all times.  But beyond that, it looks like it means that the flash player in a browser window behaves very oddly.  the CPU can obviously keep up with my movie, since when I move the mouse around, it goes at the intended speed.  It seems like it just isn't updating as fast as it is telling Flash it is updating.  Or rather, it is letting the Flash virtual machine hum along at whatever speed it wants to think it is running at, but is only bothering to actually update the window on its own schedule, or when it receives a mouse event?
I've uploaded a simple test file (and html page) as an attachment here.  On my machine, at least, there is a very noticable difference in how smooth the box's movement is, depending on if you are moving the mouse or not.  All of my tests are being performed under the latest version of FireFox (3.0.11) and using the latest flash player plugin.  (10,0,22,87)  The swf was built using CS4, etc.
Does anyone have any experience with this?  Has anyone seen this before?
Part two of my question of course is "how do I fix it?"  Is there something I can do in my html file to force the plugin to update more frequently, so that none of my precious, precious frames are lost to the user?  Better still would be if there were something I could do in my swf file to make this happen?
Anyone know of such a thing I could do?
    Thanks

    Hi Mathonwy,
As you probably know, the swf speed will depend on many factors: the computer's strength, what browser is being used (some take up more juice than others), what else is running at the same time, etc. It is always slower than when swfs are ran from the stand alone player.
However, this thing you are experiencing with "moving the mouse" is indeed weird, since it should be the opposite, meaning that moving the mouse actualy takes up some juice, a tiny little bit.
It is sad I cannot load your attachment right now (????)
