EHP4 upgrade query

Dear All,
We are planning to upgrade our PRD server. We are upgrading from ECC 6.0 to EHP4 in dual stack (ABAP+JAVA).
We are running cluster in Active Passive mode.
DB + ASCS + APP server on node 1 and node 2 is for fail-over switch and one DI instance on node 2.
We will disable clustering before the downtime phase.
I am having the below queries.
1.We are running ERS03 for abap and ERS 04 for java on node2.
As per SAP Note 1012486 we should disable ERS before downtime phase.
Please advice we have to only stop the instance ERS03 and ERS04 .As in cluster it is not configured.
If we are running startsap command on node 2 it is starting ERS03 ,ERS04 and DI instance.
Please advice how we can disable it

If you have manually set up a standalone enqueue, you should
revert this configuration prior to the execution of the
downtime phases of the upgrade, latest prior to kernel switch
phase. The upgrade tool is unable to detect a manual set up of
standalone enqueue servers and, therefore, cannot update them.
This might cause problems when the system is started for the
first time after the kernel switch. This only applies to
standalone enqueue servers (separately started enserver
process), NOT to officially supported (A)SCS instances.
2.As we are running ABAP+JAVA stack.
As i checked in SDN.. somone suggested the below method to overcome profile issue's.
Please help to understand this.
If you have a SAP level clustering you will face issues while patching your JAVA instance as in profile directory JSPM/EHPi scans for the available profiles and the patches accordingly however when two profiles are found it runs itno conflicts and does not allow you to proceed further - To solve this problem as a workaround you need to move the other/mirror/clustered systems profiles into other directory asay /usr and once your EHPi installation is over move back other/mirror/clustered systems profiles into cdpro directory.
3.ASCS will be required to be stopped manually.Will SAP prompt to stop or i need to do it before downtime phase.

I hope I've understand your questions right...
1)
I think you're right - to stop ERS03 + ERS04 but here you should contact the sap support - to make sure that this is not a big mistake.
2)
You should ensure, that only one profil should be available for the installer - so the installer searches for profiles and your mirror/clusterd systems have several [ more than one ] profiles.
So you should "move the other/mirror/clustered systems profiles into other directory asay /usr " - you have to move your profiles in a temporary directory [ tmp\ ] - so the installer didn't recognise them.
After your EhP installation you have to move the profiles back to the source directory.
3)
The installer will prompt you - but downtime means that your colleagues are not able to work ...
=>sure at all its a good think to make a reboot of the whole server - so you will see that there is everthing fine - profiles, executables etc.
By the way - if it is your first EhP installation you should have one test-system - only for ehp.

I can see in the log that stack xml you are using is not for the system to whom you are upgrading. That is the reason system is rejecting stack file. Please check above extract of logs.
I would suggest you to please generate stack xml file for this system from MOPZ after correctly configuring SMSY and use it. Then your problem will be resolved.

Hi,
Upgrade tool is trying to start the system but system is not coming up. Try to start system manually and see if system comes up or not. If not then check logs in work directory for why system is not coming up.

I am currently executing the EHP4 Upgrade for SAP ERP 6.0 with Oracle.
After doing so I need to execute several oracle specific actions
Can some one give me technical documentation for the following actions:
1) Delete all empty Tablespaces
Question: How (SQL commando) can I identify which of my tablespaces are empty?
2) Tablespace "PSAPSR3700" should be released/deallocated
Question: what does it mean?
3) Load generation ???
Any helpful information will be very appreciated

You can check that using brtools.

The sources are in PSAPSR3701 with EHP4 so that old tablespace is no more needed.

I tried to follow the instructions in note 1269960, but the enhancement spot
CLASSIFICATION_TOOL was already active. I activated it again and reran the phase
but got the same error. Also, I couldn't implement the note using SNOTE because it is
the middle of the upgrade process.
I also found the following long text in ST22
"Internal error during syntax check: ("//bas/710_REL/src/krn/gen/scsymb.c#11"
Processing had to be terminated because an internal error
occurred when generating the ABAP/4 program
"CL_CLS_BADI_CHARACTERIZATION==CP".
The internal system error cannot be fixed by ABAP means only."
I am on a 64 bit System with CentOS Linux. 8 GB RAM, 250 GB HD with 20 GB free space.
So far, I could not find any information on this. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Victor,
Go to SM37 and put in the username as DDIC and see the job log.
Also check Sm50 and see whether you have BTC processes available.
Last but not the least check your filesystem space usage too.

Questions on EHP4 upgrade

Hi friends,
I have just completed an EHP4 upgrade on ERP 6.0 system
Environment is Win 2008 and DB2 9.1
1. Just before the downtime started, ehpi inst came up with a screen which informs to
a. backup installation directory and take a database backup @ this point
To restart installation from this point --> restore database and program directory
At this point, I can either enter downtime or go productive again, reverting back the changes
Next line says --> If you restored the system to this point from the backup, you can also chose to go productive again. You can enter downtime later
What does this line mean, i just cant comprehend it in this scenario
2. During upgrade, manual actions require creation of the below 4 tablespaces with different initial sizes
SID#EL701DX
SID#EL701IX
SID#ES701DX
SID#ES701IX
Now that i upgrade is complete, is it SAFE to delete these freespaces, which i understand were used by shadow system
if yes, then why doesnt the EHPi installer delete it itself as part of post processing

It means that if you had a problem and you restored the system, then you can go back to production or continue with the upgrade.
Does it mean, going productive will mean all the steps till preprocessing will be of no use, unless i restore backup and inst directory, which will then lose out on all productive changes after backup(taken earlier)
- they are still needed (those tablespaces contain the Netweaver basis 7.01)
- EHPI never deletes tablespaces on his own. Doing that task is part of the post processing (read the upgrade guide).
As per the guide, i need to run the command
my kernel release before and after upgrade is 701
i substituted REL to 701 in below command
select tbspace from syscat.tablespaces TS where TS.tbspace like '%E%701%' and not exists ( select 1 from syscat.tables where tbspace = TS.tbspace or index_tbspace = TS.tbspace or long_tbspace = TS.tbspace )

Should i delete these tablespaces, these tablespaces were available earlier, the new ones created during upgrade had a suffix X to all these tablespaces

EHP4 upgrade Error - phase MAIN_SHDINST/RUN_RSVWSCPY were negative

Currently I am doing EHP4 upgrade on Oracle 10g with Sun Solaris 5.10 , During preprocessing phase ( The EhP Installation program builds the shadow system from the original one.)
I am getting following error

I´m doing an EHP5 upgrade and it stopped in phase MAIN_SHDINST/RUN_RSVWSCPY, the following error is show me:

I performed what you mentioned, I execute "Create_SHDDBCON" function module on SE37... but I didn´t continue this execution because I´m not sure what I have to fill in that parameters: DBUSER ; DBPASS and CONENV. You recommended some values to that fields/parameters... but where you have been seeking this values/information? How you know that?

Thanks for the information. /dev/shm was 100% full. now, the issue is solved after deleting its contents. and we have finished with EHP4 upgrade.
After upgrade, SAP_AP component still showing as 700
SAP_AP - 700 - 0015 - SAPKNA7015 -SAP Application Platform
Can we delete old tablespace PSAPSR3700, it is showing as 0% used in brspace at present.
Also while trying to move some datafiles using brtools after upgrade we are getting following error,

EhP4-Upgrade: error in phase PREP_INPUT/KX_CPYORG

Hi!
I try to execute a EHP4 upgrade for SAP ECC system with EhP Installer.
The programm stopps after several repeat attempts in the the phase PREP_INPUT/KX_CPYORG.
The error I get is:

Hi
Don't know if it is still relevant (or even the same issue) but I had a similar problem with a file ##f not found directly after a mention of "reading dbclient.lst" in the log, and I fixed it by opening dbclient.lst in notepad and saving it again as ANSI. The original was Unicode and I noticed some other .lst file was ANSI. Hope this helps.

This is caused by a missing security patch:
Note 1402510 - Resolving SideBySide Assembly Errors
which finally points to
Note 1375494 - SAP system does not start after applying SAP kernel patch
Install the security patch from that note.

EHP4 upgrade from ECC 6.0

Hi experts,
We are planning to upgrade to EHP4 from ECC6.0
We have the following systems installed on non-unicode,
SAP ECC 6.0
SAP NETWEAVER 7.0
SAP SRM 3.0
Currently, we have customized ESS java webdynpro on our ESS portal, with the EHP4 upgrade and EHP1 on SAP Netweaver 7.0, would there be any implications to the customized ESS iviews ?
Our ECC 6.0 is on a non-unicode system, is it advisable to take this opportunity to convert to a unicode for scalability aspect ?
what would be the implications if we remains as non-unicode after EHP4 upgrade ?

Issue in extraction phase in ERP 6.0 EhP4 upgrade

Hi All,
We are having issues in the Extraction phase of the ERP 6.0 EhP4 upgrade.
The system is being upgraded from ERP 6.0 SR3 to EhP4.This is on windows server 2003 with Oracle 11 G as backend.
In the extraction roadmap in phase "PREP_IMPORT/SUBMOD_TOOLIMPORT_POST/RUN_GENPUTTBSHD",
we are getting the following error message and this is not allowing us to move forward though the background job "RS_GENERATE_PUTTB_SHD" also has completed successfully.
"Missing log file of report "RS_GENERATE_PUTTB_SHD", matching "RS_GENERATE_PUTTB_SHD\.RDI"."
Any help on this is highly appreciated.

"Missing log file of report "RS_GENERATE_PUTTB_SHD" --> for this error, i would guess that this RS_GENERATE_PUTTB_SHD phase failed to run which cause no log to be generated. Try to find out what caused it failed.
go to $DIR_PUT/log, sort descending all the log by modified time, check top most logs one by one until you figured out the cause of the failed process.

Either change the location of the upgrade directory as per value of parameter DIR_PUT or change this parameter to your upgrade directory location. And then try.

CAT2 Header missing Personnel Number and CC since EHP4 upgrade

Before upgrade, We had Personnel Number, Name and CC as part of the header, along with Entry Period and Week.
Since EHP4 upgrade the Personnel Number and Employee Default CC are missing in the header.
How do I get them to display again?
