EHP4 upgrade question - ABAP Stack and EA-HR

Hi Experts,
My ABAP stack in the ECC system is at 7.01 SP3.
My EA-HR module is at 600 SP38.
We want to upgrade EA-HR to 604 (EHP4) so that we can benefit from some of the MSS functionality but the question is, what ABAP stack level do I need to be on? Is my current version ok or do I need to upgrade?
Can anyone shed light for me on this matter?
Best,
MM

Hi MM,
You can consult SDN Wiki using the following link:

to configure acceptance of the ABAP (integrated ITS / WebGUI) saplogonticket on the java stack, just log into the java stack (http://FQDN:50xxx/nwa) and select configuration  THe last item in the list is Trusted System... click.
on the ensuing page, click on the add trusted system button --> by querying trusted sytem.
Enter the required data on the page:
    system type: ABAP
    host name: FQDN
    System Nr: your instance number
    client (of the productive client)
and a username and pw with superuser priveliges in the system (SAP_ALL/SAP_NEW, etc).
    the click next
On the final screen, click finish.
You have now SSO setup between the ABAP and Java stacks. To configure SSO to accept java saplogontickets on ABAP see:

  • PI Pipeline Doubt : Pipeline Steps in ABAP stack and JAVA stack

    Hello
Can anyone please assist me with which stages steps of the PI Pipeline are executed on the Java or the ABAP stack.
    Receiver Determination
    Interface Determination
    Message Split
    Message Mapping
    Technical routing
    Call Adapter
Also can anyone please provide links relating to the PI architecture diagram describing it from ABAP and Java Stack Perspective and not from the Components perspective i.e. Integration Repository and Directory.
    Thanks.
    Kiran

    Hi
Tha ABAP stack consists of the Integration Server which in turn contains your Integration Engine and Business Process Engine.
The J2EE stack contains the Adapter Engine and your IR and ID run on the J2EE engine.
Most of XI pipelines happens in the ABAP stack.
All messsages picked by the Adapter Framework running on the J2EE engine are passed to the Integration Engine, which does the routing. The mapping program again gets executed on the Java stack and the rest of the pipeline servies are executed again on the ABAP stack and so on.
    Message, Java & XSLT (under Imported Archives) mappings are executed at Java stack;
ABAP & XSLT (in ABAP stack) mappings are executed at ABAP stack.

  • Deleting error messages in ABAP stack and JAVA stack

    Hello,
found some useful answers here about deleting messages
    which are successfully delivered!
What I miss is an answer about:
    a) Error messages in RWB
In Component monitoring -> Archiving   you can plan a job to delete messages in status "successful" or "Cancelled with errors".
To cancel jobs you have to do this one by one. With reaction time from page manual cancellation needs hours for 100 messages (Ok, there is a multiple selection  button you can use to tag per list screen!).
Now I have lots of message here
    - System error
    - to be delivered
    - cancelled with errors (from system, special case, see next question)
ready to be erased (yes, sure about that!)
Is this the only way here to proceed?
Other question: looks like there is a default time frame for the job which looks like it is more than two months for "successful". "Cancelled with errors" is only deleted from list when reaching this status with the available button "Cancel" but not for messages with status "Cancelled with errors" set by the system.
Any chance to change that time frame.
And what about the messages "Cancelled...." by the system?
    b) ABAP stack
OK, delete job is running. But looks like there is a default time frame "delete older than 2 months" (different from a! where it is more than 2 months)
I tried to delete some error messages with function "Cancel message with errors".
Now these messages are cancelled in SXMB_MONI (displayed with different status sign "Pencil").
Starting deletion job has no effect on them. Why? Because they are cancelled today and are not considered by the time frame of the deletion job?
    Any help is appreciated!
(This tool is confusing me more and more!   )
Hm, looks like nobody knows about this issue?
    Regards
    Dirk

    Hi Dirk,
I am also facing the issue for deleting the messages with errors or if i have cancelled them.
Did you find any solution for these issues. Kindly let me know if you have find out any solution.
    thanks

  • ABAP STACK and JAVA STACK certificates

    Hi Fiends,
I have requirement in which I want to use HTTP adapter to send message and apply security certificate. I got from sdn that if I wan to use http adapter with certificate than I have to install certificates in ABAP stack.
My problem is I had one scenario in which I am using BC adapter to send message with security certificate and for that I had applied certificates in java stack and its working properly.
    My question is,
Is it possible to use Java Stack and ABAP STACK together..?
I mean is it possible to implement both of the above scenario in same xi system?

    Hi Soni,
You cannot use the same certifcates wihch you installed in Java stack with abap stack. You need to install separealy on teh abap stack.
For HTTP communication you dont need to install certificates. You only need when you want to use HTTPS communication. So if you want to use HTTPS communication and want to use SOAP adapter then you can use ther certifcates which is already installed on java stack. But if you want to use HTTP adapter then you need to install in ABAP stack.
Please see this hlep on how to install on the java stack and the process behind it:

  • ABAP Stack and the Enterprise Portal

If you install the Java and ABAP stack with the portal can you do full ABAP development on the portal?
I want to create a RFC that writes data to a ZTABLE  - on the portal.
I would then send the data from the ZTABLE using a RFC connection between the portal and my backend system.
    Thanks
    Patrick

    Hello Patrick,
yes you can do ABAP development on an ABAP-Stack of the portal Server.
I also use the "ABAP Stack" for Mobile-Infrastructure.
Creating a Z-Table and executing RFC's is no problem.
I think you will only use the ABAP-Stack for Customer-Development,so you only need to install the Basis Components and Plug-Ins on the ABAP-Stack.

    Hello Prabhu
Please can you open the config tool and go to the offline configuration editor. Within the offline configuration editor goto cluster data -> Server -> cgf -> services -> com.sap.security.core.ume.service and double click.
    A new window will appear.
Please can you give me the values for the following parameters:
    1. ume.persistence.data_source_configuration
    2. ume.r3.connection.master.ashost
    3. ume.r3.connection.master.client
Also if you logon to your Java engine from a browser using the URL: http://<hostname>:5<instance number>00
You will get your Java engine start page. On the start page click on the 'System Information' link. You will then be asked to logon. Can you logon with user J2EE_ADMIN?
    Thanks

    Hi..
    I have installed ECC6.0 ABAP+JAVA engine.
I would like to know the stack level of my system. for this how i have to check. If so please mention the path how to check, Is there any R/3 level command or  O/s level command to check these stack status.
Previously  TCODE SPAM is used to see the Support Pack level of ABAP or Basis or any other OCS packages.
I would like to know the difference of the stack level and the support pack.

You can also check Java Stack info @ the file system level at:
    /usr/sap/<instance>/j2ee/cluster/dispather or server<n> and check version.txt
    Cluster-Version: 7.00   PatchLevel 56084.450
    Build-On:Tuesday, March 10, 2009 10:37 GMT
    Perforce-Server:
    Project-Dir:JKernel/NW04S_14_REL
    JKernel Change-List:56084
    Build machine:SAPInternal
Build java version:1.3.1_18-b01 Sun Microsystems Inc.
    SP-Number: 14
    Shows that its 7.00/SP14.
    Hope it helps.

  • Can we install ECC 6.0 (ABAP stack) and EP 700 in the single system?

    Hi All,
At present we have the running system, which is having DEV and QA instance of ECC 6.0. We are planning to implement EP in near future. So my question is, is it possible to install EP dev instance on the same system after adding the 3GB Ram and some more space to the existing system?
    Regards,
    Amit

    Hi Amit,
Yes, it is a supported scenario by SAP.  At one time during Ramp-up, there were technical limitations, but these have been lifted.  See SAP Note 883948.
The main factors about this scenario have to to with lifecycle management and security.  If the systems are combined, they have to be patched and upgraded together.  Also, if they are combined, there is no possibility of a firewall between them.

    Matt

  • Upgrade questions on T61 and what version of Windows 7?

I have bought a T61 and expect to receive this week.  It has 2gb ram installed and a 100gb HD.  I believe Lenovo supported up to 4gb?  Has anyone put in 8gb?  Also can this model run 64bit Windows 7?  Finally thinking up the road putting in larger hard drive.  As long as I pick a 9.5mm size, any restrictions as to what types of drives it will accept?
    Solved!

Might look at bigger hard drive.  Only has 100gb but would like to put either a 500gb or 1tb SATA 2.5"/9.5mm drive in it.
I second the recommendation for SSD. These days 128GB and 256GB units are quite reasonable. You don't need the fastest models on the market either because the T61 only runs at SATA-I (or SATA-II with so-called "Middleton" BIOS.)
If you need more disk capacity than that, consider getting an Ultrabay adapter to replace the DVD drive and put a large HDD in that. You can buy these adapters inexpensively on eBay and Amazon. Make sure the one you get is compatible with T61 series.
You can also get an external enclosure to hold the DVD drive from the T61. This then connects via USB. Or just buy an external, USB-connected DVD drive. They're quite cheap these days.

  • Java stack and ABAP stack in upgrading SP

    Hi,
pls pardon if it appears silly question. I dont have much knowledge in Basis
I am on XI3.0 with SP 09 and upgrading SP to SP20 from SAP service market place.
How can I identify which is java stack and which is ABAP stack in evrery SP because Java stack can be directly upgraded to SP20 but ABAP stack has to be upgraded one by one (like sp 01..10..11..finally sp20).
Could you pls let me know, from the list of files how can I identify which is ABAP stack and which is java stack ? so that I can first update the ABAP Stack one by one and then move to javastack
    thanks,

  • SAP ECC ABAP STACK UPGRADE

    Hi Everyone,
I am new to this fascinating world of BASIS and to this forum. This is my second post:
The situation is I need to upgrade the ABAP stack of my ECC 6.0 (dual stack) system from patch level 14 to 17.
Thus now, what are the things that I should need to consider, that is:
Do I need any Kernel Upgrade, or individually the component upgrades will do?
    Any SPAM upgrade required?
Please do reply and if you know any thread having the same question and solutions please give me the URL of it.

    Hi,
    1. For patching the system, ensure you have a complete backup of the system.
    2. Its safer and best to patch the kernel always before starting patching so that your tp and R3Trans are updated.
    3. Patch the tool SPAM to the latest level before starting the patching of the other components.
    4. Now you can patch the rest of the components either individually or put all of them in 1 stack and patch them at 1 go.
For further info, refer to http://service.sap.com/instguides->SAP Netweaver-> < Release of your system>-> Maintainence-> SP guides.

  • JAVA and ABAP stack support pakages

    Hi,
I am new on installation of solution manager server.
I just install solution manager server EHP1 on windows 2003. Now I want to patch my server.
I have abap and java stack on my server. Can I use jspm to upload my new patches for both Java and ABAP stack or I should use SPAM for abap stack and jspm for java.
    Thanks Reza

    Hello Reza,
Just to clarify, Best practise is to update your kernel to the latest before you start patching in your system.
So download SAPEXE.SAR (Database independent kernel package), SAPEXEDB (Database dependent kernel package) and IGSEXE.SAR (IGS Package) from the SMP. kernel is dependent on your operating system and database and therefore make sure you download the right package otherwise you'll end up in messing up the system.
follow SAPnote # 19466 for help.
Once you are done with the kernel update then patch you Abap stack by SPAM and JAva stack by JSPM.
I hope that makes things clear.
