EIS connection with Shared services failed.

HI All,
I m using EIS for data load ,and getting error while test connection with Shared service. while its connectiong with essbase with default user "admin"
Error :
java runtime environmant may not be set appropriately on the server machine...0[main] INFO httpclient.HttpMethodDirector - Failure authentication with BASIC 'weblogic server@Servername:58080 EIEINIT failed. Eleinit:java.lang.Exception: Login to EIE on Server thru CSS Token failed.'
Please suggest.

As per my knowledge , shared services support from EIS has been removed from 9.3 on.

I tried to telnet port 7777 & 28089 of server 1 from each server. The connection failed. I have asked the network team to open the required hyperion ports
Can anybody help me on this.

Just out of interest why have you used OAS as it is pretty much dead product now and is not used in future releases.
Anyway I am not sure why you have closed ports between those servers, you will end up spending a lot of time trying to open all the required ports between the servers.
Can you not get all the ports open for a time just to check it definitely is a ports issue.

Essbase Registration With Shared Services Fails...

Hi all,
I have three system A, B, C in a distributive manner. A has only Oracle 11g and Essbase Server. B has Shared Services, Planning, Essbase Essbase Components, Workspace. C has EPMA, Calc Manager, Reporting Analysis. I created separate database for each components. While configuring I do the following-
-> First on B I configured Shared Services/Common Settings with its database(1st Time). I could see the green tick.
-> On A I configured Shared Services/Common Settings with previously configured database. I could see green tick.
-> On A configure Essbase Server, here I get the error which shows Register with Shared Services failed.
Examining the configtool_err.log navigate to D:\Hyperion\logs\config folder I see the following message-

I am using v11.1.1.1 on Win 2003.
Can anyone pls help me how to solve this??

Thanks John. I was so anxious to get a response from you. See, on the machine where only Essbase Server is installed( and 11g as well), on configuration page I get two options- Hyperion Foundation and Essbase. Now Hyperion Foundation( Configure Database and Common Settings) configuration is done properly with previously configured database.
Now in Essbase node there is Essbase and under it is Essbase Custom Configuration. when I try to configure it I get the error that Register to Shared Services failed. I could see green tick on Essbase Custom Configuration, but a red cross on Essbase.
What needs to be done John?? Please help.

Hi ,we installed EMP V 11.1.1.3 (AIX 6.1)in two servers in server1 we have essbase and shared services and in server2 we have interactive reporting , performace scorecard,workspace and web analysis,but when I run the configtool.sh,it sends us an error .REGISTER WITH SHARED SERVICES FAILED!!.All the other products are already configured .

Registration of Workspace with Shared Services failed

OS: Linux
Hyp Version: 11.1.1.3
Application Server: Weblogic 923
We are installing them on new servers. Shared Services was configured and deployed to Weblogic successfully. When a telnet test is done on localhost 28080, it indicates that it is listening. Start up log from Shared Services indicates that Weblogic is listening on port 28080.
From my understanding and also based on confirmation from Support, the service cannot be accessed from a browser on desktop - because Workspace is yet to be configured and it defines how to use Apache http server to connect to Shared Services.
So, we started Shared Services, confirmed as above and then configured Workspace. It succeeded in the 3 configuration steps: "configure database", "deploy to application server", "configure web server"; and it fails in the step: "register with shared services".
Any thoughts?

Register with Shared Services Failing in 11.1.1.3

We installed 11.1.1.3 in Linux operating system and the application server is Websphere 6.1.After Installation and Configuration of EPM products we Externalized users from EAS Console and configured Active Directory in Shared Services and now want to migrate users of Existing Production environment to new Environment.For that created a new testgroup in Shared Services under Native Directory and when I am refreshing it's displaying an error as shown below:
Essbase failed to get roles list for [ESB:Analytic Server] from Shared Services Server with Error [32:1062:Failed to connect to the user directory [msadServer]
Can anyone suggest on this.
Any help is appreciated...

This usually happens when the application exists in Essbase but does not exist in Shared Services.
To resolve this you need to go into the AAS console, right click on the Sample application and select the 'REGISTER' option.
This will register the application with Shared Services. You should then see the application listed in Shared Services under the Analytic Server project.
You will need to make sure that the list of applications in the Analytic Server matches the list of applications under the project in Shared Services. If you have any other applications missing then please register those as well.

Register with shared services - failed

I am trying to install EPM 11.1.1.2 and I get this error for the point "register with shared services" for every item except Essbase.
Shared Services is running, I can connect to the Web App on localhost:28080/interop and manage users and groups but it seems that registering things with it just does not go through.
any ideas? has someone had the same problem and solved it?

I tried with turn off the firewall also, again it throws same error.

Planning V11 Installation - Register with Shared Services: Failed

Hi,
I have just installed the Hyperion Planning Version 11. The installation was a piece of cake. I selected all the relevant components and the installer took care of the installation and the installation sequence. When I tried the configuration, I went ahead with the configuration of foundation services first and decided to do the rest of the components later. When I completed the shared services configuration I started the configuration of the remaining components.
All of the various elements got configured correctly except for Registration with Shared Services. I have since then restarted the machine several times, made sure Shared Services is running (I can also login to interop from the browser - however provisioning features arent working), and I have essentially redone the whole configuration again and again.
Can anyone please advise?

SmartView 11.1.2 Can't Connect to Shared Services

I have posted this thread on the essbase forum, also...
I have installed 11.1.2 on Windows 2008 (64bit) in stand-alone mode. I also have Excel 2007 installed on the same machine. I took all of the default ports when setting up the server instance. I installed SmartView(32bit) on the same machine with no errors. When I try to connect to "Shared Connctions" through the SmartView home window, I keep receiveing an error message: "Connection to Shared Services failed Error Message: 'Cannot connect to provider. The server name could not be resolved.' I have tried replacing the server name with it's physical IP address,; I have tried all of the typical ports; but cannot seem to resolve the problem. My URL reads as follows: "http://testsys:13080/workspace/SmartViewProviders' I have a 11.1.1.3 instance on another server works fine, but the URL is a bit different (http://server:13080/aps/SmartView). I have tested and confirmed that all of the shared services are up and running and can be accessed from either EAS console or a web browser. Any help would be appreciated.

Have you installed and APS (Analytic Provider Server) on your system..??
As I know, to connecting to Essbase using Smartview, we need to install the APS on our system.

I have Hyperion 11.1.1.3 installation on two XP Pro machines. Pure system, with no global policies, firewalls, etc. My users are in Administrators group. Computers are not in any domain also.
On first server (called HypTSerwer1) there is: Foundation (Shared Services Web Application and OpenLDAP Service)
On second server (called HypTSerwer3) there are: Oracle DB (10R2) + Essbase Services Server 32-bit
I've configured Shared Services, I can log as admin to Shared Services Console without any problem. Validation report contains all greens.
But when I try to configure HypTSerwer3 (essbase) I get: Register with Shared Services Failed. Validation report contains one failure in Hyperion Foundation (

The part connect to at 28089* looks strange for me, as it sugests, that there is no server name, only port.
I really don't know what to do next. I reinstalled it many times, checked if all services are running. Deployed it with Tomcat or WebLogic 9.2. And always with the same result. When I install everything in only one machine, than it is working fine.

Workspace cannot register itself with Shared Services

I'm installing EPM 11.1.1.1.0 on Windows 2003 Server EE (virtual environment: VMware 2). After installing shared services and workspace succesfully (from all three packages of Foundation Services) I have ran EPM System Configurator. I've set succesfully two database repositores (on Oracle 10.2.0.4), but running configuration returns with erorr which states that Workspace related task: "Registration with Shared Services" fails. In configuration logs I've found:

Are you able to login to Shared Services, if so does everything look to be functioning correctly, like expanding projects, provisioning.
Can you access :- http://<hss machine>:28080/interop/framework/getCSSConfigFile

SmartView Connection to Shared Services Error

I have installed 11.1.2 on Windows 2008 (64bit) in stand-alone mode. I also have Excel 2007 installed on the same machine. I took all of the default ports when setting up the server instance. I installed SmartView(32bit) on the same machine with no errors. When I try to connect to "Shared Connctions" through the SmartView home window, I keep receiveing an error message: "Connection to Shared Services failed Error Message: 'Cannot connect to provider. The server name could not be resolved.' I have tried replacing the server name with it's physical IP address,; I have tried all of the typical ports; but cannot seem to resolve the problem. My URL reads as follows: "http://testsys:13080/workspace/SmartViewProviders' I have a 11.1.1.3 instance on another server works fine, but the URL is a bit different (http://server:13080/aps/SmartView). Any help would be appreciated.

Did you assign your Hyperion Provider Services URL?
I am guessing that 11.1.2 hasn't changed that much from 11.1.1.3.
In 11.1.1.3, it's under Options and is in the lower right hand side of the Options form.
When you have that set, and then click the Connect button in the Data Source Manager, and then Connect to Provider Services, what happens?
You should see: Oracle BI Server, Oracle Essbase, and Oracle Planning. Do you get that far?

EAS # problem with shared services

EAS registration with Shared Services failing. The HYPERION_HOME/logs/config/configtool_err.log file shows the following error:

seems users info is missing and results like this ...iam not sure which one would be
Delete all contents from the eas folder,....
Restart the services.
Configure EAS with Shared Services
Restart the EAS server.
this should help ...it happened some time ago ..iam still not sure what exactly the issue but it helped me to solve my issue
