Elderly mothers number was changed!

So my 75 year old mother, who has been a BT customer for 45 years, and has had the same number all that time, today found out that for the SECOND TIME IN LESS THAN A YEAR, her number has been "reassigned" to someone else! No warning, no notification, no explanation ... All of a sudden nobody can contact her! She lives in a small remote village, and doesn't drive ... The phone is literally her life line! I just tried to call the "24 hour a day 365 day a year" customer service number that is listed on bt.com, but got a message saying "sorry, we're closed right now"! WTF?
Anyone got any advice how to go about dealing with this ... Because it seems like the offshore "we'll have to charge toy 95 pounds for that" isn't even worth a call! Last time she eventually resorted to writing to the chairman of BT, and it worked! Days later she had senior managers contacting her and the problem did get sorted, but it took a couple if weeks! Not good enough.
Any suggestions!

• Somehow my phone number was changed and I didn't change it.

First I had trouble making a call and when I texted my daughter, she told me it was coming from a different number. Logged on to My Verizon and it shows my account as having a completely different phone number. Don't know how this happened.

Oneof1097, This is strange, indeed! Have you recently changed phones or added a line of service to your account? Which phone and calling plan do you have with us? We definitely want to look into this for you.

• My stolen iPhone5's imei number was changed in official store, can I get contacts of the person who did that

I've heard I can easily check the number of person , cause his contacts are required when he is giving it to official apple store for changing imei number. I can't do it by myself but Chinese policemen don't want to go there and ask...

If the police have told you to wait, then that's what you'll have to do. As Michael said, you will not be able to get any information from Apple yourself. I would suspect that the theft of a cellphone is pretty low on the priority list for the police, so that may at least in part explain the delay in them being able to give you any more current status on your theft report.
Regards.

• Recently our credit card number was stolen and the account was shut down. We will be getting a new number. My question is how do I change my itunes or app store account numbers? I found account editing info for the Verizon 3G account, but not the other

Recently our credit card number was stolen and the account was closed. My question is how do I put the new number on my itunes and app store accounts? I found the account editing info the Verizon 3G account, but haven't found it for those others.

Personally, I suggest you don't put a credit card in your iTunes account until you are actually going to make a purchase. Then there's no chance of anyone using it or your iTunes account for purchases.
To remove the old card number, edit the account (as mentioned in the previous posts above) and select None.

• Remote faxing error - A fax number was not provided.

I have a USRobotics 5637 Fax / Modem attached to a Mac Mini. I can send and receive faxes on the Mini.
I have enabled printer sharing on the Mini. User rights are everyone is allowed to print. When I try to print to the shared fax from my MacBook Air, The Mini does not send the fax. CUPS provides this error:
USB_Modem-153
Unknown
Withheld
18k
Unknown
completed at
Mon Aug 12 16:36:37 2013
"A fax number was not provided."
So the MacBook Air sees the Fax on the Mini and the job gets sent to the Mini but the fax number apparently does not get sent to the print server. Both machines are running 10.8.4 and are connected to the same (hardwired) network.
Is there something I am missing. I type the fax number in on the Air and I have tried various formats (xxx-xxxx, (xxx) xxx-xxxx, xxxxxxx etc) just to see if this makes a difference but no luck.
I have attached the CUPS log file below: There is the USR fax/modem as well as a Brother MFC printer configured.
Any suggestions?
Thank you

Now all are running 10.9.2. Same problem, except that two of the 10.9.2 clients have this problem. (They may both have had this problem with 10.9.1, but it wasn't noticed until now.)
I have reset the printing system on the serving Mac, added the fax back in, and still have the problem.
I also reset the printing system on one of the problem clients, tried a different user, and still have the problem.
I also verified that the fax.ppd files are identical on working and non-working clients. They are.
This is really, really frustrating.

I bought my iMac from someone. Everything was changed over to my name however when I try to update programs it only shows the old users apple ID and I can't update. How do I change this so I can update the applications and have everything fully under me?

The first thing to do with a second-hand computer is to erase the internal drive and install a clean copy of OS X. You — not the previous owner — must do that. How you do it depends on the model, and on whether you already own another Mac. If you're not sure of the model, enter the serial number on this page. Then find the model on this page to see what OS version was originally installed.
1. You don't own another Mac.
If the machine shipped with OS X 10.4 or 10.5, you need a boxed and shrink-wrapped retail Snow Leopard (OS X 10.6) installation disc from the Apple Store or a reputable reseller — not from eBay or anything of the kind. If the machine has less than 1 GB of memory, you'll need to add more in order to install 10.6. Preferably, install as much memory as it can take, according to the technical specifications.
If the machine shipped with OS X 10.6, you need the installation media that came with it: gray installation discs, or a USB flash drive for some MacBook Air models. For early MBA models, you may need a USB optical drive or Remote Disc. You should have received the media from the previous owner, but if you didn't, order replacements from Apple. A retail disc, or the gray discs from another model, will not work.
To boot from an optical disc or a flash drive, insert it, then reboot and hold down the C key at the startup chime. Release the key when you see the gray Apple logo on the screen.
If the machine shipped with OS X 10.7 or later, you don't need media. It should boot into Internet Recovery mode when you hold down the key combination option-command-R at the startup chime. Release the keys when you see a spinning globe.
2. You do own another Mac.
If you already own another Mac that was upgraded in the App Store to the version of OS X that you want to install, and if the new Mac is compatible with it, then you can install it. Use Recovery Disk Assistant to create a bootable USB device and boot the new Mac from it by holding down the C key at the startup chime. Alternatively, if you have a Time Machine backup of OS X 10.7.3 or later on an external hard drive (not a Time Capsule or other network device), you can boot from that by holding down the option key and selecting it from the row of icons that appears. Note that if your other Mac was never upgraded in the App Store, you can't use this method.
Once booted in Recovery, launch Disk Utility and select the icon of the internal drive — not any of the volume icons nested beneath it. In the Partition tab, select the default options: a GUID partition table with one data volume in Mac OS Extended (Journaled) format. This operation will permanently remove all existing data on the drive.
After partitioning, quit Disk Utility and run the OS X Installer. You will need the Apple ID and password that you used to upgrade. When the installation is done, the system will automatically reboot into the Setup Assistant, which will prompt you to transfer the data from another Mac, its backups, or from a Windows computer. If you have any data to transfer, this is usually the best time to do it.
Then run Software Update and install all available system updates from Apple. To upgrade to a major version of OS X newer than 10.6, get it from the Mac App Store. Note that you can't keep an upgraded version that was installed by the previous owner. He or she can't legally transfer it to you, and without the Apple ID you won't be able to update it in Software Update or reinstall, if that becomes necessary. The same goes for any App Store products that the previous owner installed — you have to repurchase them.
3. Other issues
If you see a lock screen when trying to boot from installation media or in Recovery mode, then a firmware password was set by the previous owner, or the machine was remotely locked via iCloud. You'll either have to contact the owner or take the machine to an Apple Store or another authorized service provider to be unlocked. You may be asked for proof of ownership.
If the previous owner "accepted" the bundled iLife applications (iPhoto, iMovie, and Garage Band) in the App Store so that he or she could update them, then they're linked to that Apple ID and you won't be able to download them without buying them. Reportedly, Mac App Store Customer Service has sometimes issued redemption codes for these apps to second owners who asked.
If the previous owner didn't deauthorize the computer in the iTunes Store under his Apple ID, you wont be able to authorize it immediately under your ID. In that case, you'll either have to wait up to 90 days or contact iTunes Support.
When trying to create a new iCloud account, you might get a failure message: "Account limit reached." Apple imposes a limit of three iCloud account setups per device. Erasing the device does not reset the limit. You can still use an account that was created on another device, but you won't be able to create a new one. Contact iCloud Support for more information.

• My iTunes Match still has not finished after 3 1/2 days and step 3's total number keeps changing, Why?

So I finally broke down and subscribled to iTunes Match just to see how it is and if it would be worth it to me. well right now im about to wig out because its been 4 days and i still have not gotten past step 3 on the proccesing...now to itunes match's defense, or iMatch as ive seen it called, i do have an emense itunes library of movies, tv shows, podcas, ringtones, and music (somewhere around 15,000 total) so I knew it would take a while, but 3 days?! And thats not even the problem, thats just a little grip I have cuz now I can't access my music on my iphone almost everything is greyed out.... i gould a back door to it where if i shuffle the album and skip to the song i want then that will work BUT! thats too much of a hassl!

Hi, k5blazer4x, and welcome to the Community,
Please check your account dashboard once more to ensure that the payment posted to your account. Look for a "reactivate" link for your Skype Number. If this is not helpful, please contact Skype Customer Service immediately for further assistance.
Here is a link to the instruction on how to contact Skype Customer Service via their secure portal: Contact Customer Service
Skype is aware of lingering problems with the website when contacting their customer service agents. If you experience difficulty reaching Skype Customer Service or find yourself redirected back to the Community, please try again using a different web browser and - most importantly - choosing a different path through the various drop-down menu options presented. Also, look to approve a pop-up dialogue box which would connect you to start an instant message chat with a customer service agent. If you have pop-ups blocked in your browser settings, this will also block reaching an agent.
People are getting through and starting instant message chats with customer service agents, however it may take several attempts before you are successful.

• When registering with I-Tunes, my phone number was linked to my husband's phone number. Now when he texts, I get a copy! How do I get rid of this happening?

My I phone number is somehow associated with another number. When a text is sent to the other phone, I get it too!

You're welcome.
The Apple ID was changed where on the device?
The Apple ID for the iTunes & App Store can be the same or different than the Apple ID registered with iMessage and FaceTime on the device.
Where it is changed for iMessage is at Settings > Messages > Send & Receive > Apple ID.
Select the Apple ID and at the menu window that appears, select Sign Out. Sign back in there with the different Apple ID to register that Apple ID with the iPhone's phone number with iMessage.

• Topink 9.0.4 not generating an update statement, if the object was changed.

I have 2 tables T_Objects and T_Categories.
T_Objects stores images as a BLOB field. T_Categories stores the details of an article category and references the pictogram in T_Objects via a FK.
I have 2 webpages. One which is used to load the pictogram in T_Objects and the other which is used to maintain details of the category in T_Categories. As soon as the image is uploaded and is displayed on the screen, user fills in the category details and saves them.
Each of these operations is performed in a seperate HTTP Request (and consequently seperate UOW). The idea is that the user first uploads an image, checks the image on the screen and the decides to associate it with a category.
The database is Oracle 9i. Driver used is OCI 8. Binary Steam Binding is enabled for BLOB fields. DatabasePlatform is Oracle9Platform.
The descriptors of both the tables use SoftCacheWeakIdentity and the cache size is 100. Both tables use Optimistic Locking based on a version field using TimestampLockingPolicy.
Coming to the problem, if the delay between the upload of the image and saving of the category details is large (say 20 seconds or so) Toplink generates a Update query to update the details in T_Categories. If the delay is smaller than that then Toplink fails to generate an update query even if the object was changed. Upon debugging I find that just before the commit, the BO being committed has all the correct details including the new PK of the uploaded image.
Assuming that the BO pointing to T_Objects may not be in Cache (owing to images of size 200+ KB) I did an explicit read of this object before attempting to save details to T_Categories. Even that does not seem to help.
Any ideas on what is happening here?

Chris. Thanks for your reply. I did not get your point. However these are the steps being done.
Can you please go through the code and check what could be wrong?
Steps
1) createContent(VmTObjectsVO vo) is called to insert into VM_T_OBJECTS.
This internally calls create ( Object obj, UnitOfWork uow, boolean commitChanges )
2) update( VmSubcategoriesVO vo ) is called to update a sub-category details to VM_T_SUBCATEGORIES.
This internally calls save( Object bo, UnitOfWork uow, boolean commitChanges )
In the save method at the time of uow.commitAndResume() no update statement is getting generated.
These core methods are used for almost all tables in the application and all of them work.
It is only in this use case I have a problem.
* Creates a new entry for storing the image/document in VM_T_OBJECTS.
* @param vo the content to be stored.
* @return the sequence assigned to this object.
public Long createContent(VmTObjectsVO vo){

/* copy the properties from the VO to the BO. */
ObjectAssembler.vo2bo((BaseVO)vo, bo);
/* Create the content */
lnContentId = create(bo);
return lnContentId;
* updates a subcategory to VM_T_SUBCATEGORIES
* @param vo VmSubcategoriesVO to update.
* @ return updated VmSubcategoriesVO
public VmSubcategoriesVO update( VmSubcategoriesVO vo ) {
VmSubcategoriesBO boSaved = null;
VmSubcategoriesVO voSaved = null;
VmSubcategoriesBO bo = new VmSubcategoriesBO( );
/* Copy the properties in the VO to the BO */
ObjectAssembler.vo2bo( vo, bo );
/* Save the changed object */
save( bo );
return voSaved;
* Stores the new object in the database and
* returns the primary key identifier with which it was created.
* @param obj The object to be created.
* @param uow Use this unit of work for performing the insert.
* @param commitChanges Should commit changes upon insertion?
* If the client wants to perform the commit operation across several others
* operations, then the value should be set to false.
* @return Primary key of the object created.

Hi Mahmoudmuhmd,
Welcome to the Support Communities!
The telephone number on your Apple ID is tied to iMessages. You may need to change the password for your Apple ID account to prevent others from using it. Here are some articles that will help with this:
