Elements 3.0.2 jumpy video playback in monitor

i am using premiere elements 3.0.2 and get really bad jumpy video in the monitor window. this is for very short mpeg4 clips that play beautifully in other media players on my laptop e.g. zune software - so this is NOT a computer hardware issue.
i am using an xacti camera that shoots 720p hd at 30fps and i have set all the project settings correctly - i am shooting 720p at a high bit rate.
any clues on what is causing the jumpiness?
thanks
andrew

i rendered a section of the timeline using the enter key - that gave me smooth playback. it's disappointing that premiere 3 wont play mpeg4 hd smoothly without this.
next i outputed the whole project to mp2. i am not clear why it wouldn't allow me to output to an mp4 hd format. what i am finding is that this software has tons of limitations with respect to editing hd
in mp4.
any clues on whether 7.0 is improved in this department?

  • Jumpy video playback from iPhone 5 to Mac Book Pro

    Hi
I recently took some footage on my iPhone 5 and downloaded onto my 2007 Mac Book Pro via iPhoto. Unfortunately, mid download iPhoto became unresponsive and I had to Force quit.
After restarting iPhoto I saw that the videos had not been downloaded so I started the process again. It was a seemingly successful download so I deleted the videos from my iPhone.
Upon playback all the video's are jumpy. Other older video's all ready in the library are fine.
It seems all the info is in there as each time I play a video back I see different parts of the video ie: the jumps are not all in the same place each time.
    Is it a playback 780 v 1080 issue?
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks

  • What causes jumpy video playback

I've noticed that some clips in my (iMovie HD6) jump around.  Could it be that the tape (I use Sony mini DV) Premium) is slightly sticking or what else could cause the problem.
    Please help.  Thanks.

In the top middle of the Canvas and Viewer is a percentage button. Open it and make sure that "Fit to Window" has been selected.
If it hasn't you can tell because there will be blue scroll bars along the bottom and side of the window.

  • Windows 10 Video playback issues

I have an HP Pavilion g6 and currently use Windows 8.1 OS. I recently upgraded to Windows 10 and had major problems playing videos coded into my own website and on other main stream websites too - YouTube videos were not such an issue. Depending on which internet browser I used, I would either experience a dark green screen and perfect audio or black screen with perfect audio or most frequently, on Chrome, I was gettng hesitant/jumpy video playback and a loud buzzing noise on audio. Neither Microsoft Support nor Windows Support were able to help me and the final piece of advice was to go back to my old OS, which I have done, and wait for an any future updates!! Great help! Has anyone else experienced this issue and have a solution? I have tried a number of suggestions, including  changing the settings option to gpu rendering from software rendering but no joy. I'm not a particularly technical sort of person so please go easy on me with your replies. Many thanks Steve

Just wanted to circule back and close the loop.  My issue have been resolved.  It was the driver for the audio.  After updating all of the driver (via Intel and HP) nothing appeared to work and I virtually went through all of the devices and check the driver.  It was then that I noticed that IDT High Definition audio codec was very old, dated back to 2012.  So I did a little research and came upon this post (http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/insider/forum/insider_wintp-insider_devices/idt-high-definition-audio-codec-not-working-on/570a5038-e48e-43f3-af75-95da61447c87?auth=1) The instruction from 3Juan was very specific and solved by problem.  It's as follow. I had a same problem on HP Envy 23 1080jp All in one desktop PC.I can solved as following.1. Select IDT High Definition Audio CODEC on Device Manager.2. Select Driver tab.3. Click Update Driver... button.4. Select  -> Browse my computer for driver software.5. Select -> Let me pickup a list of device drivers on my computer.6. Select  High Definition Audio Device (Not  IDT High Def...  this is important.) and click Next.    Appears Warning message, but reply Yes.7. ! Windows has successfully update your driver software.Key is step 6.  Cheers!

  • Slow video playback in Photoshop Elements 11

Playback of videos directly in Photoshop Elements Organizer is very slow. Video is stuttering.
Playing the same video outside of PSE11 with Windows Media Player is much better. Video plays without any stuttering.
Looks like the internal video player of PSE11 is very poor and provides slow performance.
What can I do do have the same video performance with the PSE11 player as I have with WMP.
I use Windows 7 64 Bit (8 GB RAM) with a Intel Core i3 (2330). This CPU has enough power to playback HD or Full-HD videos without any stuttering!!!
Why can't the internal play of PSE11 Organizer play my videos without stuttering - like WMP 12.0.7601.18150 does?
    Regards,
    Dodson65

The videos I use are created with different devices.
I have HD videos taken with a Pentax DSLR and I have Full-HD videos taken with a Windows Phone 8 device.
Both playback on my Laptop without any stottering with different software. I checked WMP and VLC. Even when using my Laptop with energy-saving profile these videos can be played without stottering.
When I playback the videos in PSE11 Organizer I don't want to edit them - just playback. So why should the internal player behave different? I agree with you - this might be different when I playback the videos in Premiere Elements 11 (as this is a video editing software). But when using Photoshop Elements 11 I want to be able to playback videos in the same performance as I can do with WMP or VLC. If Photoshop Elements 11 can't do that - why? The organizer of PSE11 is not an editor. It should be able to playback videos the same way (with the same performance) as other players on my laptop.
Can you please explain this sentence: "Have you started a Premiere Elements project yet that uses this video's specs? This will often trigger Premiere Elements to download the necessary components for interpretting the video." Is there anything I can do to improve video playback performance?

  • Premier Elements 10. No video playback.

    Hi,
I have just started to use Premier Elements 10 after purchasing a couple of years ago. I can import videos of most formats. But when brought into edit I get sound but no video playback. it's a blank screen. Sometimes I can get it to work sporadically if, for example, I try motion tracking. But it will only work once. If I try and go back then its back to sound only. This is my first play around with premier and I have not tried changing any settings. The PC is brand new with I5 processor and 16GB mem. Any ideas please?
    Many thanks.

On what computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 10 running and what video card/graphics card does the computer use.
If a NVIDIA GeForce card, then that is likely the cause of your problem. This is a known Premiere Elements/NVIDIA GeForce issue which
forces the user to roll back the driver version to May 2013 in order to use Premiere Elements 10 on that computer.
ATR Premiere Elements Troubleshooting: PE10: NVIDIA Video Card Driver Roll Back
If that is the case, I can help you determine if there is an old enough NVIDIA GeForce driver version available for your situation.
Also, do you have the latest version of QuickTime installed on your computer along with Premiere Elements 10 and are you running the
    programs as administrator?
Please review and consider and then we can move forward based on the details in your reply.
    Thank you.

  • Video playback on mobile device

    Hello,
I'm new here and probably this was asked before me, but I spent a lot to search on the net and actually couldn't find much.
I'm developing a web based application dealing with video - it should be controlable and have to interact with other elements of the app. The client now asks mobile apps - for Android and iOS, that should have same features.
I looked for solutions to play video on mobile device using Flex and building mobile apps but nowhere could find a proper explanation and results about framerates and performance. The other problem I think will be that the mobile device should play streamed video (which can be encoded in any suitable format) as well as native video - usually h.264, that as far as I understood, is not possible on iOS (I coudn't find out about Android).
On my Android device I can play very smoothly even web videos (in the browser) that are not "optimized for mobile" as it pops up during playback. I made a test and build a simple app that just plays a remote video using the Spark's VideoPlayer and its framerate was OK but the picture was terrible - some strange coloured lines appeared.
Is there anybody who has more info about video playback on mobile device, codecs, components etc. I need that info to make the choice to stick with Flash development for all the apps or to go for native development with platforms' SDK.
    Thanks

Can you say even more about what it is you want to do? I mean, what will the application do, not what are the technical aspects of how it will work?
For a point of comparison, look at this thing I did:
    http://www.cartoonnetwork.com/mixit/
If you try out the Make page, both the template ones and the from scratch one, as well as the View page to see the playback unit in action. Is what you're going to do anything like that?
I have tried the playback part of this as a mobile app, and it so very nearly works ok! Amongst the many problems are that the overall data rate needed is quite high, and mobile devices aren't as consistant or high bandwidth as desktops, the external swfs often need code in them, so that rules out iOS, and to do the layering involved rules out H.264.
At some future time there will hopefully be StageVideo that can use H.264, but I don't know when that will be, or whether it will be responsive enough (FLV is much faster to connect to and play than H.264).
Incidentally, even in the Objective-C world you can't lay things on top of the standard iOS H.264 player. To do that you have to use the AV Foundation class, so it's fairly low level programming. Using FLV in Flash is a lot easier!

  • Video Playback in synchronization to data display

I've read a bunch of topics about recording live video, but my question has to do with playback synchronized to a data display.  I've got a simple black and white camera (RS170) already.  I'm going to get some sort of capture board.  I want to record video from this camera to the hard drive.  The reason is that this video file needs to be analyzed later so I need to store it on disk instead of memory as it could be days later.  While I'm recording video, another signal needs to be recorded.  It could be anything really, let us say temperature for discussion.  Assume everything is in place for this temp. acquisition.
Recording video to disk doesn't seem to be any problem.  My question relates to playing this video back such that when you play it, you can also look at a data display of the recorded temperatures that happened at the same time as the video was recorded.  If you were to drag the video slider manually (instead of just pressing play), the data display would also update accordingly.  This essentially syncs the data display of temperature with the video picture you are seeing.  Pressing play and just watching the video, the temp data would update itself with the correct historical values.  Pressing pause on the video, would of course freeze the temp display to the value at that time.  Wherever the video is, the temp data would have to display the correct historical value.
I would need to record possibly a few hours of video a day so disk space could be an issue if using uncompressed AVI format.  I wouldn't have to save every days video file so I could eventually delete a bunch of the files.  I'd just save the days video that produces interesting results to examine later.  A number of video files might build up (a months worth?) before the directory is examined for possible deletes.  I'd like some feedback on this too from someone who has tried uncompressed AVI versus something else that is compressed.  Is performance OK if using compression?
The computer I'd be running this on is the latest workstation class machine from HP so it is a fairly powerful computer.
Is there any sample code of doing this video playback indexing to data signal display?  I'm thinking there would have to be some function to know where the video is playing at all times and then historically retrieve the temperature data.  Is there performance issues with this?  I'd want it fairly accurate such that the smallest increment of a video frame (say 30 times a second) produced a proper data display for temperature.  In reality, my signal will change faster than a typical temperature value would.

I doubt this will satisfy 100% of what you're looking for, but it should at least get the conversation started on developing some techniques we can use to syncronize acquired data playback (again, let's say temperature) with some external source. I don't know much about video playback, so I won't be able to help you much there, but I do know a lot about leveraging LabVIEW technology to play back data in real-time as best possible, while allowing the user (or the video playback itself) to dictate a specific position at any time, pause, etc...
My first recommendation would be to save your acquired temperature data as a Waveform. Waveform is more or less like a cluster with three elements: a 1D array of Y-values, an intial time (t0), and the time between samples (dt). You can use these three pieces of information to reconstitute when each sample was acquired and what the timing should be configured for to play these samples back in real time. Search the web for information on writing Waveforms to file and reading them. You should find plenty there (or post somewhere else ).
After that, we can use a Timed Loop for playback. Timed Loops allow you to set a desired Loop period. They also have a lot of other capabilities, such as setting priorities, handling the fact that your last loop didn't finish on time, etc. Here's a link with more info on Timed Loops. Other than that, Timed Loops can operate like regular while loops.
My next idea is to incorporate a current position that we keep track of. This could be, for instance, the index of the current element in the 1D Y-values array. If you want this to involve user interaction with the front panel (for instance, changing a Slider value to reflect the playback position), then you could use an event structure with a timeout case set to zero. Then update the temperature value and increment the current position in the timeout case.
You might take a look at the example I've written in LabVIEW 7.1 that "acquires" 5 seconds of sine wave data and plays it back in real time. The user can adjust the position or pause the playback at any time. Again, I don't know exactly how this would interface with video feedback. If you have more specifics about what method you will use to playback the video, maybe someone with more expertise in this area could help us out.

  • MPEG4 Video playback is jumping and generally poor

    Hey all,
I've got a couple videos that are already converted to MPEG4 (.mp4) that play absolutely fine in quicktime 7.1.3 but when i try to play them in itunes i get jumpy sketchy playback, it's unbearable to watch!
The problem definately isn't hardware as i run a G4 1.67ghz machine with 2GB of RAM. I've got nothing else open and besides as I said it runs fine in quicktime.
Does anyone know any tricks to get around this?
    15 Powerbook G4 1.67 Superdrive 2GB 128MB   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    Followup:
If i convert to H.264 using convert for ipod in iTunes i can play the files no problem but that shouldn't be necessary as mp4 is supposed to be supported.
It would litteraly take years to convert all the stuff i have over to H.264, really keen to mp4 working in itunes.

  • Slow video playback in very high resolution X11

Hi everyone. I write this msg for ask your eternal knowledgement.
I have a very huge system (i7 3820 LGA2011, 8Gb quad channel, Gigabyte x79-up5-wifi, AMD HD5870 2Gb Eyefinity 6, etc) running Arch on it. The OS is updated. The Arch config is very minimal, using Fluxbox as WM and VLC and Mplayer to playback videos. The video driver is the latest stable Catalyst (13.4) and so on. I got connected six HD screens seted to a resolution of 1366x768. These screens are managed with xrandr, adjusted for considering the bezel compensation, using xrand --output MONITOR --pos X+BEZELxY+BEZEL.
When i play a video with mplayer (using the gl video driver) the movie shows very well and smooth, but when i pan the video all over de virtual screen (4194x1583 aprox), the movie shows very choppy.
The strange fact is the Conky reports shows me an 5% of CPU usage, so the system performance are not the problem.
The mplayer flags that i use to play this video are plenty, being the threads=4, gl:ati-hack and -root the most important.
If anyone can give me a hint to solve this issue, i would be very grateful.

  • Lightroom 5: Video playback trouble - and workaround.

I am currently trying the trial version of LR5 to decide if I should buy LR5. I am a long time user of Photoshop/Premiere Elements with 9000+ pictures and 600+ videos (AVI and HDV formats) so seamless catalog conversion is important to me. Here is my finding with a catalog conversion issue.
I converted my Photoshop/Premiere elements 9 catalog into an LR5 catalog but had problems with playback of the video files from the thumbnails in grid view.
Some of the video thumbnails would playback when double-clicked others would not. I then realised that the thumbnails that worked, had the length of the clip displayed in the lower left corner of the thumbnail, whereas those clips that did not work had a generic video icon (see attached screen dump) in the same place.
If I double clicked a thumbnail with the generic video icon, the view would change to Loupe view, and the playback bar be shown, but the video would not play and the bar was "dead". If I clicked the thumbnail again, the view would toggle between Grid and Loupe view. The only way to resume video playback, was to close LR5 and restart the application.
Video clips with the duration shown worked flawlessly.
By the way - the thumbnails with the generic video icon would play using "Open Video In Default Player" when right-clicking on generic video icon, but not from within LR5.
Each time I restarted LR5, I saw that the number of video files with the duration shown/updated increased every time but never completed even after leaving the pc for several hours. It has taken 20-25 close/start of LR5 to get through all the video files and apparently updating the db-entries in the LR-catalog.
I hope this is useful info for others with the same problem.

  • Why am I having imbedded video playback problems in Lion?

    Hello all,
I'm been having problems viewing web videos on my 2011 MBPro 13'' w/ OS X Lion. Any time of web video I have normal sound by the video frames get all jumpy, almost like its less than 1fps. The only web videos that do not have this problem is when I watch a youtube video on youtube.com. If I watch imbedded youtube videos, I have the same skittish video playback problem.
I have my adobe flash updated and I used Google Chrome as my web browser.
Anyone else have a similar problem? Fixes? Thanks!
