Elements 8 crashes on opening
Over the last two days, elements has repeatedly crashed when I try to open it. This is regardless of the method used to open it (welcome screen, through my photo organization program, using the windows "open with" command, and double clicking a psd to open it). Most of the time the program just closes and tells me it was for an unknown reason, but a couple of times a window pops up that is labled: DDE Server Window: Photoshop Elements Editor.exe and it states: "There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into drive D."
I have tried the fixes listed in the forum here, can anyone offer me any suggestions? I have also reinstalled the program 2x with no change.
Thanks
Hi you could try the steps mentioned at John's Page - http://www.johnrellis.com/psedbtool/photoshop-elements-faq.htm#_Troubleshooting_Organizer_ crashes
Hope that solves your problem.

Premiere Pro & Premiere Elements Crash When Open Together?
Anyone have a problem with Premiere Pro & Premiere Elements crashing when open together?
I have PE10 and am doing a trial of Premiere Pro CS6.
Both crash fairly quickly when open together.
i7 2600K
Windows 7 64 Bit
16GB RAM
GTX 470
Corsair AT 850 Watt PSU
Thanks! The first thiing that comes to my mind is a resources issue. As you have a stout computer, with more than adequate RAM, unless something is failing (like a stick of RAM), or perhaps the GPU, I would not expect to see what you observe. On a much less powerful machine, I have no problem running PrPro, Encore, Photoshop, Illustrator, and a word processor, all at the same time.
I would look into this ARTICLE, which starts with some general tips on setting up one's computer for running PrE, and then goes into system and OS tune-up tips (this is probably where I would start, if the intitial checklist looks OK), and then goes into troubleshooting. I would definitely look here, and especially using Event Viewer to try and track down what is happening, when the crashes occur, and also the one on tools to test RAM, GPU's, etc.).
Good luck,

Continued Element Crashes upon opening and I have deadline to meet
I have been working on a thesis project with Photoshop and Premier Elements 9 since September, and Photoshop has been for the most part stable. Occasionally I had a crash episode and the message that Adobe had to close the program due to some encountered problem. Premier 9 crashed more than Photo Shop. For the past two days, as I am approaching a deadline for my project, Dec 6, I cannot use Photoshop at all. As soon as I open elements, I get the crash message. Premier Elements 9 has been more stable for the past 2 days but has crashed several times as well, particularly when I try to work with font changes. This evening, I read at the forum to go update by drivers, which I did with my PC mfg, then I read to download the patch, which I did for Windows. I did all of that and rebooted twice and Photoshop continues to crash as soon as I open it. Please help me. My plan was to work on my project intensely over the four day holiday and I am getting absolutely nothing done due to this problem. I need to work with my images, preparing captions, and getting ready to upload them to a website. What is wrong with this software? Why is it suddenly crashing constantly over the past two days?
I thought some more about the font issues. This problem with AE's organizer began two days ago which was the time when I was changing fonts on some videos in Premier Elements 9. I used the program fonts and did not install any fonts. However, a strange thing happened two days ago with fonts that makes me wonder if this is why AE's organizer crashes after two seconds each time I try to open it and work with my images collected there since August for a thesis project. Two days ago, when I changed fonts on the video clips (titles on frames), after I changed a couple of clips to a new font that I thought would be sharper (lithos pro is the subject font), I then noticed that when I tried to change the remaining clips to everything used the same font, the font was no longer working. When I clicked on lithos pro on subsequent frame titles, another font appeared. I thought I was going nuts since the font appearing looked nothing like lithos pro on the first clips I changed. Now I believe that font was corrupt, it was a program font, and this may explain the AE organizer crashes for the past two days. A moment ago, I pulled up those two videos and removed Lithos pro entirely from them. These are important videos that I have been editing for two months to go up on the website for my thesis project. I then tried AE organizer again, and it continues to crash. The thought that a corrupt font in the Elements 9 program may have caused me two waste two very precious and valuable days of my time on this thesis project, when I am running out of time to complete it now and cannot complete it without accessing the images in organizer and adding captions before they go on the web, frustrates me more than I can say. I spent a lot of money on four Adobe software programs and now I am unable to access my images and finish my project. I am also not impressed with Adobe's lack of phone support for an issue like this. Tech support is closed except for Mon-Fri and when I did call them previously on another issue, I reached people in another country that had such heavy accents, I couldn't understand much of what they said.

I installed Elements 11 and immediately after opening (I can see my pictures) it closes. Same thing started happening with Elements 9 which is why I upgraded.
I was the one having similar problems to yours and have finally got PSE11 working. I had another thread started yesterday regarding the inability to show photos. I was only getting the hourglass symbol as well. It turns out the problem was due to a corrupted thumbnail cache. The solution was to open the Catalogue Manager and then go to repair the catalogue. I also optimized the catalogue and after doing so, all of the thumbnails displayed. I then closed PSE11 and on reopening the program, my photos are displayed in the organizer. Hope this helps.

Photoshop Elements 10 Mac crashes when opening images
As the title says Photoshop Elements 10 Mac crashes when opening images! I cannot understand why this is happening as i've never had any issues with it before.
Below I have copied and pasted the crash report in the hope someone can decypher it and tell me why this is happening.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

The story is a bit complicated. Here is the whole tale in sequence. I bought a new camera. Images from the new camera would not import into my copy of PSE 10. I contacted adobe to see if there was a patch and was informed that I needed to upgrade to PSE 12. I got PSE 12 and installed it only to find out that the Organizer would not display anything on my computer. I contacted adobe and learned that I needed to upgrade my operating system to Mavericks. Since my computer was a 2007 model and 7 years old, it could not be upgraded to Mavericks. I bought a new computer. When the new computer arrived, I transferred all of the files, photos and applications from the old computer to the new computer. My photos were all then in a catalog in PSE 10 on the new computer.
I uninstalled PSE 12 from the new computer and re-installed it from the disc onto my new computer. Then I imported the catalog from PSE 10 to PSE 12. So I had the opportunity to “upgrade to Mavericks and try to use PSE 12” but I decided to reinstall. My answer is that I bought a new computer with Mavericks and added PSE 12 fresh by reinstallation.
I noted that none of the videos are in any stack. I reviewed my videos and if there was no thumbnail, I played the video to create a thumbnail. There were maybe eight videos without a thumbnail. The system had produced thumbnails for most of the videos. All of the videos now have thumbnails. I will try to operate normally for a few days before I try deleting the thumbnails from the catalog. Let me see if things will work with the thumbnails complete. -
Elements 6 editor crashes when opening more than 1 file
elements 6 editor crashes when opening more than 1 file
It may be a lack of available memory (RAM). Open the Editor and click the menu:
Edit >> Preferences >> Performance
Photoshop Elements >> Preferences >> Performance (on Mac)
You can increase the amount of RAM available to elements, but never go above 90% otherwise you will have nothing left for running other open applications.
You can also allocate other volumes or an external hard drive as scratch disks which elements can then use in place of a shortage of RAM.

Photoshop elements 6 has started to crash when opened, so does Bridge.
I've used PSE 6 for years with no problems. Now it crashes when opened. Bridge is doing the same thing. I don't know where to start to get help or answers. Any help will be appreciated.
Reasons for crashes are frequently similar to reasons for slowing down. Does any of the reasons below sound familiar to what may be happening?

If not, there is Adobe's forums: https://forums.adobe.com/community/photoshop_elements -
Hi All
We have:
- Mac Book Pro (15" two and a half years old)
- OS X 10.6.8
- Photoshop Elements 4
It has all been working fine, then suddenly Photoshop Elements has started to crash. It will load up and if you leave it on the 'Welcome' screen with the 'Start From Scratch', 'Import from camera or scanner', 'Recent images' etc options, it is fine. Once you open an image or start a new one, it is ok for a short while but with in a minute or two it crashes. It doesn't crash when you specifically click on anything. It can crash with the image just on the screen and you not touching the laptop. It crashes straight out to 'Problem Report for Photoshop Elements'.
We are seeing no other applications having any problems.
The top of the crash report is as follows (if more of it is useful, please just ask - it is very long):

- Removing the application
- Removing any preference files
- Reinstalling the application
- Removing any preference files for Opera (found this searching the forums..)
- Ran Disk Utility - Permissions and disk repair
- Ran the long/full hardware check off the OS X boot CD - no problems found
Any ideas please?
Thanks
She11Right, not had a chance to grab some one elses laptop and swap things, but I have done this..
This laptop has 2x 2GB sticks of RAM. It has 2 slots.
I put 1 stick in at a time in to each slot, so trying each stick of RAM on it's own in each of the 2 slots.
It crashed which ever stick was in which ever slot!
A mixture of the following 2 error variants appeared (both errors had with both sticks on their own):

Still think it's the memory? Can't be unless *both* of them are at fault surely? Then I really would expect more issues than just Photoshop Elements crashing?
Thanks for your help!

Pls help - Photoshop Elements crashes when switching media types
Hello, I'm hoping someone can help. I just installed Photoshop Elements 7 and Premiere Elements 7 on a brand new HP Pavilion system running Vista, 9 GB of RAM. I then imported a catalog with ~18,000 photos and tags from Photoshop Elements v6 via backup from original system and restore to new HP system. Worked like a charm. Now I have the catalog open, and when I click on "View -> Media types -> anything else (Video, PDF, whatever)" irrespective of what I select, Photoshop Elements crashes. The error message states, "Adobe Photoshop Elements 7.0 (Organizer) has stopped working. A problem cause the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available." Note this also happens when I use Ctrl-1 or other shortcuts.
Has anyone else seen this? I literally powered up the HP today, and loaded Elements and Premiere today, so it's not likely due to old software (eg I did not install Photoshop Elements 6).
Thanks all!
EdPlease delete the folder C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Adobe\Elements Organizer\8.0\Organizer and relaunch to see if the problem vanishes.

I cannot get Photoshop Elements 12 to open
After working productively for over a year using Windows 7, all of a sudden this past Saturday my Photoshop Elements 11 started crashing upon opening. I tried all of the tricks and tips listed in the Forum and none resolved the problem.
On Sunday I purchased and installed Elements 12. It worked fine until I installed the NIK plug-ins. Then the same problem occurred as with Elements 11 the night before: the program would crash upon opening.
I removed Elements 11 from my system. It made no difference.
I rolled back back my system to its pre-problem state and I re-installed Photoshop Elements 12. Once again it worked until I installed NIK.
Once again I rolled back my system and re-installed Photoshop Elements 12. But now it simple won't launch at all. Even without NIK.
I am at a complete loss as to what to do next. I'm almost ready to buy an Apple computer!Hi wtrip, Adobe has apologized for the recent (server) sign-in problems. It’s really not good enough for a company that has pinned its future strategy to the Creative Cloud. Unfortunately even though PSE12 is a stand-alone perpetual licence, it is not exempt from these problems. You can request a full refund within 30 days of purchase (no reason necessary) otherwise, you must contact Adobe directly using the link below. Use the dropdown menu for boxes (1) & (2) to scroll down the list and choose:
1. Adobe Photoshop Elements
2. Serial number issues or activating my product
3. Click on the blue button: Still need help? Contact us – then click the button marked “chat now”
It’s usually possible to start a live chat, if an Adobe agent is free, and often to get the problem fixed right away. Have your serial number available. The agent can directly troubleshoot your system if you agree to activate the Adobe Connect add-on.

They had moved some files in the filesystem in a way that elements was no longer able to print them and when I tried to help them run a reconnect it gets stuck on the reconnect select box.
It has also been crashing at other times for them.
What are ways to fix crashing like this?
Is it a corrupt catalog?
What are the workarounds?
Thanks! This happens when photos are moved or deleted from system folders. Always use Organizer and the catalog will stay tidy. It’s probably best to start over with a new catalog.
Open PSE9 Organizer.
On the top menu click File à Catalog
Then click the New button
Enter a different name e.g. My Catalog2
Leave the box checked “Import free Music into this Catalog”
Then click OK.
When the new browser window opens it will be blank.
Click File à Get Photos & Videos à From Files & Folders
Navigate to My Pictures and hold down the Ctrl key and press the letter A on the keyboard (to select all)
Click Get media or Open.
Wait for Organizer to generate thumbnails.

Premiere elements crashes when burning a DVD
I'm trying to burn a slide show I've created. It's a mixture of photoshop elements photo slideshow and edited videos, about 30 minutes long.
But every time I try and burn it to DVD, premiere elements crashes. It generally gets to about 30% through the encoding media stage.
Has anyone else come across this problem? I thought it might be related to virtual memory, but I've increased this, and it's not had an effect. I'm running it on a laptop with 4Gb RAM, so RAM shouldn't hopefully be a problem.
When trying to burn, i've also tried to reduce the quality so instead of using "Fit contents to available space" I've reduced the bit rate down to 5Mbps so the space required is just over 1.2Gb (it was originally about 2Gb).
Has anyone any suggestions as to how to resolve / diagnose this problem.
I've burnt several DVDs before without any problems, although they were mainly just photos
Thanks in advance
JThe easiest way to do this is with Photoshop (PS). I'm certain that PSElements can do it well also, but do not know what might be different. This is for Photoshop.
Place copies of your files into a folder. I use copies because I do not want anything to happen to my originals and play it extra safe. Add a sub-folder. I name mine something like "Final_PSD's,) etc. In PS, I have a series of Actions, to re-size to my common video formats. They are named things like, NTSC_Wide, NTSC_4-3, etc. The Action is set to Open the files, then change the size to the appropriate dimensions and assign the correct PAR for that Project, such as my NTSC_4-3 gets a PAR of 0.9. The Action then does a Save_As. I keep .PSD's as .PSD's, but JPEG would work well too.
In PS, I go to File>Automate>Batch Process. This brings up a dialog screen, where I choose the Action that I want to run, NTSC-4-3 in this case. I direct the program to the Source Folder and the appropriate Destination Folder, my "Final_PSD's" in this case. If I have the sub-folder targeted for the Destination Folder, I leave the file naming conventions the same. I check Bypass Open command, as I do not need to see the work being done. Check over everything. Hit OK, and in a few minutes, I can re-size hundreds of files. Time will depend on one's system, and also on the size of the Target Files.
I feel that there WILL be differences in PSE, but someone else will have to fill in that info. It has also been pointed out that the freeware image processor and cataloging program Irfanview cand do batch re-sizing quite well. This might be an option. I do not use it for such, so I cannot comment.
Good luck,

Why is Elements crashing Upon start-up?
Hello. I am using Photoshop Elements 2 for Macs with a G5 PowerPC iMac and OS 10.4.11. I've been using Elements for several years without a problem.I recently re-installed my OS from OS 10.4.9 to OS 10.4.11 and then reinstalled Elements. At the end of the Elements installation........a message comes up saying that installation was successfull.I then double click on the Photoshop icon in Applications to open it up.The "Photoshop "Splash Screen" comes up and about half way through loading up .......Elements crashes on me......a message says........"The Application Photoshop Elements" unexpectedly quit". The same thing happens if I try again.I've tried repairing permissions, and re-installing but no luck. Also tried trashing the preference file. I'm not sure what else to try.......can't think of any other reason it should'nt work. I'd appreciate if anyone has any suggestions or solutions. Thanks. P.S.-I also have Adobe Aftereffects installed. Was wondering if there could be any conflict between the startup files of these 2 Adobe products.
Maybe I should also mention that after it crashes........a window comes up labeled as"Problem Report For Photoshop Elements" that lists alot of information I don't understand such as"Thread crashed" info, "Binary images description" info, etc.I'm attaching a sample of some of this info. to this message.

PSE 6 on Mac Book Pro Crashes when opening a picture
Whenever I try to open a picture PSE crashes. This is similar to another post but I should not be having RAM or generation issues. I have removed and downloaded from different DMGs all to no avail. Please advise.
ThanksThanks for the comment but I wasn't asking about viruses. The thread I asked on solved the other user's issue because of the Norton incompatibility. I was referring to the original question which had nothing to do with viruses. I open elements and try to open a picture from iphoto to work on and elements quits. Since I don't have Norton or any other anti virus program, I was hoping there was another explanation which would apply to my situation. Any ideas?

There's really no need for Norton on the Mac - because there is no such thing as a Mac virus. I realize that this could change tomorrow, but as of today, there is no such thing as a Mac virus. There hasn't been for about a decade.
You can remove Norton. I removed it from my Macs about a decade ago.
To prevent any future viruses from getting in, set up a new sub-user account on your Mac, and start using it. Don't run your Mac as the Administrator.
When you run as a lowly user, your Mac keeps an eye over what you do, and demands the Administrator's name and password whenever you do something suspicious. That won't be a problem 99.9% of the time. It's only a problem when you try to install an application or a utility.
Keep that limitation in mind, and use it to your advantage. A virus is an application that pretends to be something else. It lures you into installing that virus onto your computer. Let's say in the future you download what you think is a photo. It's really a virus. You double-click on it to launch Photoshop Elements. Instead, you launch the virus, which starts to install itself on your Mac.
At that point, everything comes to a screeching halt when the Mac operating system stops the installation, and puts a message on the screen. That message will say something like, "Please type the Administrator's name and password to INSTALL THIS APPLICATION into the Applications Folder." That is your tipoff that you aren't dealing with a photo. You are dealing with an application.
At this point, you should ask yourself, "Why is a photo trying to install anything?" Whenever the Mac operating system asks for the Administrator's name and password, you should ask yourself if you know exactly what is being installed.
If you were running your Mac as the Administrator, then you wouldn't get this warning messages. The Mac would say, "Well, I guess he knows what he's doing, so I'll install this application." And the still-to-be-written virus would be installed on your Mac. It's a lot easier to keep viruses off your computer than to try to remove them once they get in.
This is why you don't need anti-virus software on the Mac - if you have an intelligent user operating the computer as a sub-user.

Pse 12 organizer crashing after opening
pse 12 organizer crashing after opening,HELP
Hi deepsea285,
You can try to Update the video card driver.
Many video card manufacturers frequently update their software drivers. If you haven't recently updated the video card driver,
If still issue Persists,
1. Re-create the Elements Organizer preferences file.
Navigate to the Elements Organizer settings folder:
Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\[User Name]\Application Data\Adobe\Elements Organizer\[Version]\Organizer\
Win Vista/7/8: C:\Users\[User Name]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Elements Organizer\[Version]\Organizer\
Macintosh OS: //Users/[User Name]/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Elements Organizer/[Version]/Organizer/
NOTE: Some of the folders in these paths could be hidden. To reveal them, see:
Show hidden files, folders, filename extensions | Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7
Access hidden user library files | Mac OS 10.7 Lion
2. Rename psa.prf to psa.old.
3. Retry launching Elements Organizer
