Email 3G wifi switch problems

When I switch from 3G to WiFi I cannot get incoming emails, I can send emails but not receive emails from my account.
Why so????

Is it asking for you wi fi password and not you email password?

  • X201 wifi switch problem

    Hi,
    I have an X201 with Windows 7.
Wifi does not work on my machine, in fact the adaptor is not on.  And when I try and switch it on (using FnF5), I get a message saying that the hardware switch must be in the on position (with a helpful diagram) but the switch is already in the "on" position.
I have uninstalled Access Connections (because it is painfully slow even no such a new machine and so annoying!) and this seems to have made the hardware switch stop working.
Is it possible to fix this without having to reinstall the bloatware?
    Thanks,
    Dixon

    Hey Trivington2012,
Have you done any of the above steps? Like uninstalling access connections and reinstalling it? Checking in device manager and making sure your device is showing. Updating the Wifi driver and such, I would suggest you do these steps first and post back what happens and I would be more then happy to help you take any other troubleshooting steps.
    Best Regards,
    Hiro

  • I need help with an email WiFi sending problem on my iPad 2

I’m having an email WiFi sending problem on my iPad 2     Model:  MC774C/A;  IOS VERSION: 6.1.3 (10B329).
While I use 4 email accounts on the iPad -- Hotmail, Gmail, iCloud and ns.sympatico.ca ( a division of BellAliant) – the sending difficulty only relates to the ns.sympatico.ca.  The settings for this account are:         pop.bellaliant.net            and      smtp.bellaliant.net
I first noticed the problem about 3 weeks ago while travelling across the country (Canada).  (I do recall about that time there was an update of my IOS and I also for my wife purchased from the Bell store an iPhone which shares my Apple account.)  Prior to that everything worked well for a couple of years.
I noticed earlier this month that the iPad received mail fine but would not send at night using the motels’ WiFi.  During the day, using my 3G account, all worked fine.  I phoned Bell but was told that my experience was normal so I thought no more about it until I returned home and found the same problem at the house.  I called Bell again and worked for 2 hours with 3 Bell technicians who succeeded in getting the iPad to neither send nor receive and gave up advising me to take the iPad into a Bell store to have it looked at.  I did that and the young technician got the iPad sending and receiving by changing the        smtp.bellaliant.net      to         mail.1xbell.ca
However, when I returned home again, I realized that it was working on my 3G and still doesn’t send on my WiFi
I’m looking for any suggestions that might solve this annoying problem?

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts   Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.

As long as iMessage is enabled and the old phone is connected to a WiFi access point, it will continue to receive iMessage texts. It won't receive non-iMessage texts nor will it receive any calls.

  • Exchange Emails over WiFi

For the last 3 days or so, I'm not able to get my exchange emails over wifi on my mac and iPhone 5 (mail app). The home wifi is working just fine as i'm able to connect and get all the other mails from gmail and hotmail but when it comes to my exchange account, I get an error 'can't connect due to network error'.
Although, I'm able to get my exchange emails over cellular data connection both on my mac and iPhone. Please suggest.

    Hi Razmee,
Thanks for the reply. I've tried that but my IT guys are a nocturnal bunch of grumps. It's not officially a work appliance, therefore not officially their problem. The fact I spend my own dollars to improve my efficiency and contactability is lost on them.
    Cheers

    Anyone else?

  • [GAVE UP] New Wifi card problem - no orange "Wifi on" light

For some silly reason the Intel Wifi 4965 agn mini-PCI card in my wife's laptop will not work with anything newer than Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron. Linux will not even "post". (I think that's the right word) So, I ordered an Intel Wifi 5100 agn mini-PCI card as a replacement.
When I installed it, Linux recognized it (hooray!) but will not use it. (boo!) The dmesg output says that the radio is disabled by the hardware switch. (the physical switch on the case of the laptop) Also, the orange "Wifi on" light does not light up any more.
Physically, the new card is an exact replacement for the old one. I don't think the two wires are on backwards. (they are labeled) I did not see anything in the BIOS related to Wifi. Toggling the switch off and on does not help. It is a Toshiba Satellite A215-S5837 with an AMD Athlon64 processor.
    Has anyone experienced this problem?
Does anyone have a suggestion of what to try?
    Thank you!

Thank you for the suggestion. I installed the firmware, the modules were loaded correctly, and the OS detected it, but it wouldn't work.
I pretty much have given up. I returned the card mentioned above. I even bought and tried another wifi card without success. My experience has been:
Intel wifi 4965 miniPCIe: Works great, but anything past Linux kernel 2.6.27 (I think it was) will not boot with the card in the computer and with the wifi switched on.
Intel wifi 5100 miniPCIe: The wifi switch never appeared to detect it. Linux detected it and installed the drivers for it, but the "wifi on" light never turned on, and Linux couldn't use it because it didn't think it was on. I gave up and returned it to Newegg. The problem may have been related to this, but that is for miniPCI cards, and not miniPCIe.
Intel wifi 3945 miniPCIe: It is branded as a Toshiba card, and so I thought it would work in a Toshiba laptop. I bought it cheap off of Ebay. It is neither detected by the OS or the wifi switch.
I'm not sure what I'll do now. I may buy a PCMCIA card. I may just leave Hardy on it until it dies.

  • Email and WiFi issues

Hello, hoping someone can give me a hand with a couple issues with the Z10 I'm having.
First thing, when an email is sent from the Z10 it is getting time stamped 6 hours ahead of time(I am CST -6 timezone), I did read about this problem on the crackberry forums so sounds like it's already been brought up to blackberry's attention.
Another problem with email that I've noticed is I added my work email to the device, then I deleted it and added a different work email account from the same domain.  I am now receiving emails from both accounts still even though the first one was deleted, those emails are still showing up in the hub even after restarting the device.
And there seems to be an issue with the WiFi when I am connected to the WiFi I can't go online with the phone.  Even if there is a problem connecting to the internet through the WiFi, shouldn't the device be able to just automatically start using the service providers network instead of giving the user an error?
So if anyone has any ideas of what I can do about the emails or WiFi, let me know and I'll give it a try and post my results.
    Thank you,
    Kevin.

    Hey Kevin,
Welcome to the BlackBerry® Support Community Forums.
To better assist you with these issues I have a few questions:
What type of email account do you have set up on your BlackBerry with the time stamp issue?
When you go into the hub do you still see the email address listed for the email account you deleted from your accounts?
Do you use BlackBerry Enterprise service?
In regards to your Wi-Fi issue, try checking the Wi-Fi Diagnostic Information:
    1. Go to Setting
    2. Select Network Connections
    3. Select Wi-Fi
    4. Select Advanced
    Thanks.

  • 9300i - Email via WiFi POP

I have a Nokia 9300i and is a great smartphone primarily because of the full use of rich HTML web and proper emails from existing POP3s like Yahoo etc.
One problem arises which, although I can collect my emails from both GPRS and WiFi anywhere and any WiFi hotspots, it was the SENDING of emails through WiFi was the problem. I do have a home WiFi using Apple AirPort with no problems and also other WiFi Hotspots including BT, TMobile etc. I can send emails via my mobile connection vis GPRS but not WiFi.

Is it with any Wi-Fi hotspot/service provider (ISP, Internet Service Provider) or just some?
Does the ISP, perhaps, block SMTP traffic to servers other than their own? In such a case, use the ISP's SMTP server, instead.

  • I have an i pad 2 and for some reason the wifi switch wont pass to on

just recently the wifi switch on my i pad 2 has stopped working. i have re set all settings wipped the whole i pad and still not working can any body help me out.
or has anyone had a similar situation i realy miss the i pad

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

  • Z30 wifi range problem after upgrade to 10.3.1.1565

After upgrading on Z30 the OS from 10.2 to 10.3.1 I experience serious Wifi range problems. There is a room in our house where I had excellent wifi connection with 10.2 and now the Z30 does not find the router. Even the router SSID! If I go closer to the router, it connects (5-6 meters from the room where I tested). It is a quite new router, a Linksys EA6200 with the latest firmware. I rebooted the router. No result. I restarted Blackberry (switch on/off), no result. I deleted all wifi saved connection on phone and tried to reconnect. No result. I tried to make a soft reset (vol up/down buttons), no results. Dont understand, I made Over the Air (on wifi) OS update yesterday in the same room, same place. Now I dont see any router there altough the Android phone and the notebook gives 4 bar wifi there. Before OS Upgrade I made a full backup (everything) in the Blackberry Link, tried to restore to the earlier OS version, but the restore uploaded to the new OS the personal data and not the earlier OS System. How I could solve the Wifi problem or roll back to the earlier official version? I dont see possibility on phone. It's crazy to have a quite good business phone which is now unuseable for its original functions without normal wifi connectivity... I understand to advise hacking or restarting router, etc... but how about if I go to abroad? I cannot restart the router there... I need stable wifi or a stable operating system...

I have seen numerous posts on other forums about the degraded wifi performance on devices running 10.3.1.xxxx.
I definitely noticed a dropoff in signal strength when I went up to 10.3.1. I remedied it by putting in a better router, but I don't believe one should have to do that in order to maintain was was acceptable performance under a previous OS. 10.3.1 is supposed to be an upgrade after all.
I also notice a difference between Z10(STL100-1) and Z30(STA100-6) on 5GHz wifi : Z10 finds and connects with no problem, but Z30 does not find the network at all, even when right next to the router. I subsequently discovered that the router autoselects channel 149 on 5GHz, which the Z10 is happy with. For the Z30, I tried all other available 5GHz channels on the router in turn, and eventually found that Z30 will find and connect if the router is manually set to channel 48 only. A bit restrictive for a high-end device.
It has been postulated that the claimed improved battery life on 10.3.1 comes at the expense of compromised wifi performance. Could this be the case?
Hoping this issue soon finds itself in the "under investigation" box at BB.

  • Can't get email over wifi at home, but can at work.

Okay, I think this is a problem with settings on my time capsule, but I can't figure out what. On my iPhone 5 and wife's iPad I can get email over the cellular network and over wifi at work. I can't get email over wifi at home, get a can't connect to server error. Also had a friend, who uses the same ISP, try with his android phone - same error, but works over wifi at his house. Since I can get email over cellular and wifi at work, I'm fairly confident that I have the server settings correct. Any ideas?
    Thanks.
    Rob

Was facing a similar issue with my friend's iPad (Latest one). Forcing the DNS Server to 8.8.8.8 (I think Google's DNS servers) fixes this issue. I had faced something similar on my iMac a long time back. Something a little strange about how Apple products do a DNS lookup? Not sure if it is an issue with the response time of the DNS servers as well..
In any case, the good news was changing it to 8.8.8.8 worked.. Luckily the iPad's network configuration tool allows you to navigate to the pane where you can see the DHCP supplied IP addresses and just go to the DNS field, delete what was present there and force it to this address.
The difficulty in coming to this conclusion was the fact that the browser works fine for all the sites we had tried. It is mostly the apps that had trouble, and the App store also was inconsistent in reporting details..
