Email Notification in hyperion planning 11.1.1.3

Hi
When a planning unit is promoted from user A to user B then the email alert mechanism fails but if user A rejects a planning unit to user B then email notification functionality works.
Kindly help on this as it is urgently required

I have tried setting up the email notifications in Hyperion Planning 9.3.1 version
There are 3 settings that needs to be changed:
1) Advanced Settings in Hyperion Planning
2) Notifications in Hyperion Workspace
3) Set provisions in Hyperion Shared Services
Also our company mail server is set on googlemail so the standard SMTP server used for outlook confirguration is smtp.gmail.com
The problem I'm facing is:
1) During send test mail at notifications in hyperion workspace it is not showing any result as there is an error at "Send Test Mail to"
2) Also does googlemail work as a mail server since smtp.gmail.com acts as the mail server for our company?
3) The default port number used for SMTP is 25 but in our case it is 995. Where is the provision for changing the port number in Hyperion Planning System?

Costumize e-mail notification in Hyperion Planning

Hi,
I found that e-mail notification text can be costumize in Hyperion Planning through :
C:\Hyperion\HyperionPlanning\AppServer\InstalledApps\Tomcat\5.0.28\HyperionPlanning\webapps\HyperionPlanning\custom\HspCustomMsgs_en.template
However, only code membre of the planning unit is shown in the message.
MSG_PM_EMAIL_DEFAULT_TITLE=NEW OWNER: %APP_NAME% (%SCENARIO%, %VERSION%, %ENTITY%)
Is ther any way to display alias for the planning unit in the message?

Not Receiving Email Notifications via Hyperion Workflow Process

Hi All,
Configuring SMTP for workflow process in Hyperion planning.
I did the following steps for the above process.
1--> I checked whether SMTP server is running or not using Telnet command in the machine where the application is running-->*[Its working fine]*
2-->Then I logged in to planning application with admin credentials and set the Email server details as follows
2.a) *[Planning-->Administration-->Application-->Settings-->I entered the Email server details]*
2.b) *[Planning-->File-->Preferences-->Planning-->I mentioned the Email address for administrator]*
3--> I created several users using shared services console and I set the security Access type as Descendents Inclusive for each and every dimensions.
4--> I set the Email address for every users which are created in the above step *[Planning-->File-->Preferences-->Planning]*
5--> I created a Planning unit Hierarchy.
6-->I logged as a Planner and I entered the budget in the Data form .
7-->I promoted this budget to the Higher official for verification process.
8-->But I didn't get the status mail for the above process.
Kindly guide me whether I am following the right procedure to config SMTP in my application.
How to get the status of the notification mail through relational tables.
Kindly mention the location of log files regarding this issue.
Please guide me to overcome this issue.

Anonymous in the sense that you mean like Unauthenticated connection. Yes my mail server is unauthenticated server, hence it doesn't require any username and password.

E-mail notifications in Hyperion Planning

Hi! In Administration->Application Settings I checked "Enable e-mail notifications" and indicated the name of the Microsoft Exchange Server. I also indicated e-mail addresses for all relevant users both in Hyperion Planning in File->Preferences and in Shared Services in the Native Directory. However e-mail notificaions still do not work. Can anyone give me an idea on what could be wrong or missing in my settings? Thanks a lot in advance!

Hi, John! I am preparing a small demo for a client and I would like to make some test workflow e-mail notifications through my company's MS Exchange Server to my inbox. I asked our Administrator if our Exchange Server requires authentication and he said yes, it does every time that I log into my inbox - otherwise anyone in our office could watch my e-mail messages which is unaceptable. In all other functions this exchange server does not require authentification. So could you please clarify which kind of authentication you mean and if our Administrator gave me a sufficient answer? As for testing me e-mail from outside of planning, My Administrator said that our Exchange Server is presently in the process of being configured. So, with regard to testing smtp server from outside planning: if you meant just the ability to send/receive messages from outside planning, then it is works fine in my case. Send a Failure Email Notification After Load Plan execution in ODI 11g

Hi Experts,
Greetings!
I am trying to send an email if any of the step fails during Load Plan execution. Irrespective of the failed object, only 1 email should be sent to the Administrator. I unable to do this. Mails are getting sent for the no of times the no of object fails. For eg if 10 out of 100 steps fails, 10 emails are getting sent. I need to send only 1 email.
I am using ODISendMail.
I have tried various combinations however, all in Vain.
For instance:
root step --> Exeception Step (Send Failure Email) and Execption behaviour (Run Exception and Ignore). Using this because, I dont want to stop the load plan on the step failure.
Interface1: Exeception Step (Blank) and Execption behaviour (Run Exception and Ignore).
Interface2: Exeception Step (Blank) and Execption behaviour (Run Exception and Ignore).
Exception not getting executed.
Please help.

I tried your suggestion as per below.
1. Created global variable "v_cnt" with default value "0"
2. Created package "pkg_v_cnt" to increment the variable by 1
3. created package "pkg_sendError_Email" to check if v_cnt > 0 then Send Error Email.
For Instance, the loan plan looks like this:
root step --> Exeception Step (pkg_v_cnt) and Execption behaviour (Run Exception and Raise)
Interface1: Exeception Step (pkg_v_cnt) and Execption behaviour (Run Exception and Ignore).
Interface2: Exeception Step (pkg_v_cnt) and Execption behaviour (Run Exception and Ignore).
Send Error Email (pkg_sendError_Email)
The issue here is that, the variables are not getting the incremented value and hence unable to send email . The variable value remains "0" even after execution of the exception steps when both interfaces fails.
Pls help.

Notification message box of Hyperion Planning when user login

Can we have a notification message box popup when user login Hyperion Planning or Workspace application? We would like to communicate to the end users by the system instead of just email because some end users may not check the email so frequently. It is the best to notify end users about any latest changes e.g. budget rate, etc when they login the system to check data or print reports.
We noticed that there is a broadcast message feature but only limit to those users already online. And the message will not shown when there are some users login later. We would like to have some notice board like message instead of instant messaging.
The online help of "broadcast message" feature:
"Use broadcast messaging to communicate a text message to all Planning users currently logged on to an application. For example, you can send messages about system availability or periodic maintenance. You should also send broadcast messages to request that users log out before upgrading or migrating applications.
You can send broadcast messages using the Web client or a command line utility. If you send them using the Web, they are sent to users of your current application. If you send them using the command line, you can specify any application, without being logged on to it. You can also schedule messages using standard operating system mechanisms. "

I tested the same whether my mail box blocking URL by sending Test mail having URLs, but i am able to get the mails with url. Only the mails having Planning workflow URL are not coming.

Hi,
Do you know how to set the email notifications language ? I'm talking about the email notification you receive when you submit datas on workflow.
I tried to change my internet parameters to change the language to english, but this does not fix the issue.

Loading HFM data to Hyperion Planning using FDM

Hi All
Has anyone ever used HFM as a data source for FDM?
Someone has asked me for the best way to get data from HFM into Hyperion Planning and whether FDM can manage that. I know there is a generic Pull adapter and the ERPi but I'm not sure whether either of those will do the job.
At the moment I am assuming that they will need to extract data from HFM to flat file and then import to FDM as a 2 stage process?
Any thoughts?

Apologies for the delay (my email spammed the notification that you had replied, helpful!!). When you say that you have done it but discourage accessing the tables directly how did you achieve this? Were you just careful which data intersections your selected from the tables (e.g. always base level data so it is stored not calculated)?
I have used the HFM relational tables a couple of times to make use of the metadata that they contain but not tried to get data before.

I think the installation of planning on Vista is difficult. As some of the files doesn't support even i am tired of doing that.
But tell me one thing have you installed all other products , I mean Essbase, (server, client) , AAS and Shared services.
Are they working good .
I have formatted my system to XP and installed everything , but the problem is when i install planning it prompts me that IIS 5 should be greater other wise EPM will not install...
there are lot of things with planning 1) i can't datasource as it is not highlighting when we configure with Shared services
2) It does not create product instance .
If any one can fix this thing by giving me a suggestions.

I'm trying to integrate our email notification system with some sort of SMS messaging system and I've a couple of questions
1. Is it free to send the SMS from my java application...
2. If I'm using smslib and GSM modem......who pay's for the SMS message here in the United States.....I know in Ireland its only the receiver who pay's but here it's both the sender and receiver pay when it's mobile to mobile
3. This will be my first time doing anything like this, so and advice, code snippets or pointer would be really appreciated

SMS email gateways are usually free to send to, but be aware that they may shut you off if you spam users.
As for the recipient, I think the SMS goes against the recipient's allowed number of messages in his calling plan, but that really depends on the nature of the agreement between the recipient and the telco. If it goes over the allowed number of messages for the recipient, then he will be charged whatever rate is in the agreement.

OIM 11g - email notification

Dear All,
I need to create quick POC that will involve provisioning to multiple resources during OIM profile creation. One consolidated e-mail notification should be sent as a result.
1. I never used simulated/fake/manual resource. If you used it in the past maybe you can guide me through as for how to create it?
2. How to make sure that centralized e-mail is sent at the end (all resources are provisioned)?
I was planning to create default role or use ALL USERS role that will be attached to access policies for different resources. When HR record comes, OIM user profile is created and default role (ALL USERS, for example) is assigned.
This role will trigger execution of access policies that will create accounts on the target platforms.
My challenges are:
1) ONE consolidated email notification upon SUCCESSFUL completion (default event that somehow should be triggered maybe by job?, custom task that sets the flag in custom table upon successful completion? or maybe I overengineering .....)
2) send user to manual queue if creation of the user account on any of the target resources fail.
If you can provide any guidance as for how this could be done I would appreciate it very much

2. There are two parts to this question.
The first part is to figure out the triggering event. If you know what resource will be last provisioned you can simply put a task that is fired on completion of the final provisioning task that then checks the result of all other resources using the APIs. If you don't know which resource will be last you could let the final provisioning task in each resource have a follow up task that sets a variable on the user form, then have another folllow up task that checks if all values are set and if so do the appropriate thing (if not just exit)
Traditionally you would assign a task to the sysadmin using the API if you wanted a manual intervention (http://otndnld.oracle.co.jp/document/products/id_mgmt/idm_904/doc_cd/javadocs/operations/Thor/API/Operations/tcProvisioningOperationsIntf.html#reassignTasksToUser(long[], long)) but there is the new concept of queues that I actually haven't worked with (http://otndnld.oracle.co.jp/document/products/id_mgmt/idm_904/doc_cd/javadocs/operations/Thor/API/Operations/tcQueueOperationsIntf.html) that may be what you are looking for.
Email sending tends to be easier using Javamail than trying to leverage the email framework once you want something that isn't very basic.

I am trying to make the manual deployment of Hyperion Planning in WebLogic and have problems in making the deploy of HyperionPlanning.ear in Weblogic Administrator Console. The error messages are:
- An error occurred during activation of changes, please see the log for details.
- [Deployer:149606]Failed to configure deployment mbean for [email protected] Build 66: Built with CIS Drop 9b.
- Name '[email protected] Build 66: Built with CIS Drop 9b' contains illegal character ':'

Well that points to an issue with the other clients IE, now it could be a setting, could be a different patch, could need reinstalling. I can't really say much more than that.
