Email Notification Messages

Hi I have my 5s and am having difficulty with how I am view notifications when I receive an email message.
When I have my email notifications set to "Off" for Show Preview, this is what I see. An email from the person but no subject.
When I then set preview to "On" I get the whole entire email with the subject, text, etc. While my example of the email is small, I have had longer emails where then the white box is larger because it will show as much text as possible until the box fills up the screen. Is there a way to somewhere be in the middle of this where it at least shows the subject when preview is off?

My understanding is that setting is just how much of it shows in your actual inbox on the phone. Also, the Preview setting is under Notifications and not under the Mail so that seems to be where the issue eminates from

I also find it slightly annoying that the notification can only really be caught if you happen to be staring at the screen at the time the message comes in.
What I would like is for the large envelope to be displayed immediately when I unlock the n900 again and not have to click on the glowing menu button first. That way, there is no chance of missing what may or may not be an important message. You can either click on the message to open it up and reply, or click outside of the envelope to go back to your desktop and ignore it - exactly as you currently do AFTER clicking on the glowing menu (which I have often missed when unlocking my n900).
Any other phone device (lets not let this start a debate about whether its a phone or not please) displays a fixed notification until it is acknowledged (either read or ignored).

Unwanted 'New Email' notification on home screen

Havin read some of the posts on this board concerning email notification messages, i went to
menu-tools-settings-general-personalisation-homescreen-mode settings-homescreen applications-enabledapplications, and unticked both email1 and email2 notifications, and yet I still get the message every time I recieve an email on the mail for exchange.
any suggestions?
also it does seem pretty absurd the setttings are buried away in these menus to such an extent you have to look it up online to sort the navigation...

I agree with you. The Nokia Messaging gives you the push mail, but the notification on the phone is poor. You have to open the Nokia Mail app on the 5800 to see the message. Without V30 if new mail arrives and you miss the beep there is no indication from the home screen of new mail.
Even with V30 unfortunately you can only see the most recent email that has arrived on the home screen- and for some reason it still shows it as unopened once you've read it i.e. the closed envelope rather then opened.
FYI- you can turn the email notification on the home screen off.
I'm still amazed that there isn't a unified app that brings SMS, Mail, Chat etc all into the same window. So you only have to check in one place for incoming communication. Maybe there's a third party solution out there??
Maybe one of the other Nokia phones has this, E72?

How to provide hyperlink for CSN message in email notification

Hi,
I have the following requirement, could anyone provide some ideas/solution on this.
We integrated Change Notification Service to portal as transaction iView. once the CSN is raised and assigned to resopnsible person, the message will be notified through email. The requirement is in the email notification a hyperlink should be provided so that on clicking on the link it should open the page with respective CSN message.
Could any one provide solution how to achieve this?

Variable to get instance failure error message in Email Notification

Hi All,
I send email notifications on insatnce failure of Scheduled reports by configuring notification option in CMC.
I would like to send the Error message for insatnce failure in the message content.
Is there any way to achieve this ?Any dynamic system variable like %SI_STARTTIME% available for this ?
I am looking for error message as we see when click status in Instance History of a report.
"Error Message: The date for the prompt 'Enter Issue Start Date:' is invalid. (WIS 10706) "

It is not possible at present with the product as it stands out of the XI3.1 or BI4.0 to email the error message with the schedule email notification.
I would suggest that you log this requirement in the SAP Ideas Place:
Idea Place (https://ideas.sap.com) allows customers to log Enhancement request themselves without the need to contact Support and work more closely with Product Management.
Here your idea can be evaluated by other customers and voted upon, prior to our Product Group organization deciding on the idea as a possible enhancement.

Are you talking about turning off the alert sound when you receive messages and email? If so, go to Settings>Sounds>New Mail>scroll to the top and choose None. Do the same for Text Tone.

Can we change the cryptic MESSAGE column in email notifications?

Is there any way to control the way the cryptic message column (which is the logic behind the business rule) shows up in email notifications. A message such "IF AND true THEN Valid" does not mean much to users? Am I missing something?

The message format is controlled by style sheets stored as text values in mdm.tblSystemSetting.
This query will show you the values in the MDS database:

One is for HTML email formats and one is for plain text. If you know how to interpret the XML style sheets, you could try changing these values as desired. Careful!

Press and hold both the home and power buttons 10-15 seconds till the Apple logo appears. Release both buttons. Wait 15-20 seconds till your iPad starts on it's own.

Nokia E72 = No email new messages notifications

I have setup Gmail email account on my E72 through nokia messaging. There are NO notifications whatsoever for this accounts - no flashing lights, no email icon on the bottom of the screen, no sound, ..etc. Only on the home screen Gmail showing unread messages.
I've tried all things to get this fixed,
-I've email notifications set in modes and email alert tone selected in profile
-Also in Control panel->settings->General->Personalization->Notifications lights-> events notified, has New email checked
-Synchronization I have: synchronize new updates->"on" , weekday and weekend synchronization -> "On all day" , synchronization interval -> "1 day" , timed synchronization->"on" and synchronization "always enabled", server name is "em1x-198.lhr.messaging.nokia.com"
-I've updated the phone software, still not notifications, I've the SMS notifications working correctly but not the email new message.
Don't know what's wrong or what can be missing.
Even on an old 6120 i had email notifications on the home screen working correctly.

I've contacted the Nokia careline, they told me to remove/recreate my email account from both my phone and http://email.nokia.com, i did and after that they sent me a Dummy settings ( enable " Email alert tone " and "Vibrating alert" which i had it already set , but I've noticed that today in morning I've got the new messages notifications working for about 10 hours then after I've used to plug the phone to my pc using the USB cable, notification stopped and cant' get it working again till now, even after I've restarted the phone and disconnected/reconnected the mail account. Don't know what's really wrong.
Also i don't know which Nokia messaging version I'm using cause they've mentioned another settings for version 3.0

I don't believe there is a way, because the server is going to continue to retry sending the messages until a time out happens. Once the time out passes, you will no longer receive the bounced email messages.

In my BPM development, i'm trying to automatize the email notifications, based on due process periods. Also, I need to inform, based on the delay, some other participants that escalates the alarm message.
Is it possible to do it using an "E-Mail Notification" component that can be reused during all the process, even that the interval conditions and informed users varies upon each activity.
Is there another way to solve it?

Basado en ello, el tiempo de caducidad varia de acuerdo a cada actividad y al usuario, ya que varian tanto los intervalos de aviso, como los correos y su escalamiento en caso de demoras mayores a lo solicitado.
Pienso que es posible tomar un procedimiento especializado que permita ser reutilizado en este y otros proyectos, a pesar de que requiera parametrizar tanto los usuarios "base" y "escalados", como los intervalos de alarmas, durante el proceso.

I think I understand what you're after. I think you want to use the same escalation logic for all of your processes and instead of embedding this in every process you want something reusable. If this is not the case, read no further.
While you can do this, there are still going to be 5 things each process would still need to have inside of them:
<li> your process would need to set the "deadline" predefined variable to the intial timeout (2 hours in the future in your example)
<li> your process would need an Exeption Handler needs to be added with an Exception transition set to "Instance Expiration"
<li> your process would need an Integer instance variable "alertLevel" to keep track of the current level
<li> your process would need a String instance variable "currentlyAssignedTo" to keep track of who's supervisor you want to notify
<li> your process would need an Automatic activity with one line of logic inside it.
You could have the Exception transition leaving the Exception Handler activity go to a subprocess using a Subflow activity. This subprocess would send the emails, determine the new deadline interval, determine the new priority of the instance, look up the currently assigned user, manager and supervisor's email addresses and send the email(s). The subflow would have two input argument variables (alertLevelArg and currentlyAssignedToArg). In the Begin activity, these arguments would be mapped to corresponding instance variables. Inside this subprocess there would be an automatic with the logic to send the email to the user / manager / supervisor based on the alertLevel instance variable. This subprocess would pass back out through its output argument variables the new alertLevelArg, and new deadline (a time argument variable set to some time in the future based on the new alert's level).
Once the instance in the called subprocess completes, the output arguments need to be mapped to the original process's "alertLevel" and "deadline" variable. From the Subflow activity, you'd have an unconditional activity that flows into an Automatic activity via an unconditional transition. This automatic activity would have the single line of logic "action = BACK" so the instance is sent back from the Exception Hanldler's flow back to the activity inside the process it was in when the Instance Expiration exception occurred.
Avoid hard coding the values of "2" and "5" and "8" for the number of hours to have elapse inside your logic. Instead make them business parameters capable of being edited by an business owner.

I have found that not all SMTP servers are equal in this regard. Some may insist on the brackets around the address, some may not.
You need to confirm the format of the addresses you use in the "+MAIL FROM+" and "+RCPT TO+" commands.. and ensure that these formats are accepted by your SMTP server - and if not, change your code to use an acceptable format.
The easiest way to do this is using telnet - and interacting directly and manually with the server. SMTP is a clear text protocol and easy to use manually. Try it. It is the best way to test SMTP interaction and validate the approach and SMTP commands and arguments used by your code.

The below is mesage it displays in the body where as it should appear as html page. Three days back it had worked proper but off sudden it changed. The code is same.

Text/Email notifications won't clear

I was having issues with my text/email notifications not clearing on the dock and was told I had to do a factory reset. So i did that and I was still having the problem after i set my phone up again. I found that once I went into the Developer Options and chose the option "Do not keep Activities," so I unchecked that box and it fixed the problem once i got a new message or restarted the phone and haven't had that problem since.

I don't have all the things that you list.
I have:
Actions
Receive email notifications (or not)----which I chose & hope that that works.

I have already checked 'no' to all emails, which is NOT what I want. If there are more comments to my questions, I would like to see them, but there is no option for that. I have 2349 emails, certainly not related to MY question. (And I am NOT shouting... trying to make a point.
How can I keep up with what is going on in the Apple Support Community if I say NO to all of the emails?
And why can't we copy or cut & paste here????? If one copies or cuts it won't allow paste. It gives only options ot insert links & such???
How do you people keep up with this community IF you don't get a gazillion emails?
