Emailing a completed form without it saying "Form Returned"

Using Adobe Acrobat XI Pro (11.0.06) to create fillable, savable and emailable forms, with an email button.
When using the users default email program the subject line comes up: Form Returned: xxxx.pdf.
In the email body it states Form Returned:  xxx.pdf . The attached file is the filled out form.  Please open it to review the data.
When users see the words "Form Returned" they think the email failed to work.
Can this wording be changed so that it is less confusing?

If the PDF is a form fillable PDF, which I assume that it is, email it to yourself or send it to DropBox and open it on your computer. You should see the fields filled in there. It works for me if I do it that way.
Adobe Reader supports it, but the other apps don't. I assume that if you email the PDF to a computer user it would be readable in Adode Reader.

how can I automatically email the completed form as a pdf for signing to the respondent?

Have your husband text the word "stop" to 48369. This should take his number out of the iMessage system.
Go into your settings under messaging and make sure the box to send as an SMS if iMessage is unavailable is checked.
Hopefully this will get your messages sending/receiving to each other.

  • Can this be done? Emailing a completed form without emailing.

When using a standard html form, a user can fill in the required fields, press post, and abracadabra, the results of the form are emailed to the specified account and the user is redirected to a page that says your form has been submitted.
Can this be done using a .pdf? The email button is simply retarded. Why do users have to go through the hassle of having their email client opened just to submit the form they just completed? There probably isn't any other way, but would be nice if there was.
Is it possible to create a submit button that will automatically email the completed .pdf form to a pre-specified email address and then redirect the user to a "thank you" page? I don't want to annoy my customers by forcing them to email me the form. I just want it sent when they click "submit."
Is this even possible? If so, is it relatively easy?
    Any help is greatly appreciated!

    >Can this be done using a .pdf?
Sure. The principle is exactly the same: you submit data to a script
which runs on a web server. You are limited only by what the
programmer has made the script do. Don't be under any impression that
it is "magic": if you have a web form which submits and then you get
an e-mail it's because there is a script on a web server that a web
programmer wrote to make it happen.
    > The email button is simply retarded.
I prefer to think of it as a handy tool for testing, but nothing
anyone would use for the real solution.
    >Why do users have to go through the hassle of having their email client ...
They don't. Did you know that you can "submit" an HTML form to e-mail?
But nobody does, because it just isn't a good way of working. Everyone
expects an HTML form to submit to a web script, but for some reason
hopes they can use direct e-mail of PDF forms.

  • Email Completed Form, Not Data

    Hello,
I have created a form in designer with a "submit by email" button. It works perfectly as it should. What I would like to do is have the completed from sent back to me instead of the XML. Is this possible? The users are filling out the form as many as 10 times a day. I receive them in the field (in my car) via my web enabled phone. The phone will not open the XML file properly but it will display PDF's with no problems.
    Thank you,
    Patrick

Some additional info to add to what SekharN said:
    1) Add a button (not the email submit button, just the "button")
    2) Set the Control type to Submit
    3) On the submit tab, add "mailto:[email protected]" in the Submit to URL box
    4) Change the submit as drop down to PDF
    5) Save the form
    6) Open the form in professional 8.0 (not livecycle designer)
    7) Go to the Advanced option on the toolbar and select "Enable Usage Rights in Adobe Reader" which will require you to save the file again.
once you've done that you should have no problem with the emailing the completed form.

  • A way for end users to email completed forms?

I would like my end users to be able to complete the form and then send the whole, completed pdf form (not just the data) to another person. I believe my users will probably be using the latest version of Adobe Reader. Now, I realize that saving information typed into a pdf form is technically not supposed to happen, and I imagine one would have to save the completed form in order to email it, but I believe a few months back that I followed a thread on this forum that discussed just how to circumvent this issue and allow an end user to email a completed form in pdf format. Naturally, I cannot find the thread now that I need it.
Anyone out there know if and how I can make this whole emailing business happen?
    Thanks!

First don't use the default e-mail submit button from object library, that will send just the xml data. Instead you can use the default button and set its control type to Submit. After this put in the Submit to URL field some thing like this: mailto:[email protected]
When you finish the form you need also extend the form by doing what our coleague said above.
Now when you click the submit button it will send the entire form through e-mail.
    I hope this helps.

  • Emailing a completed active PDF form using a Submit buttom? (Acrobat XI Pro.)

I have created a very large active PDF form with hundreds of fields, with text boxes, drop downs, radio buttons, check boxes and I think the kitchen sink. But for the life of me I cannot figure out how to create a Submit button that will send the completed form to an email address that is set to print anything that hits it.
I have read so much on it that I'm thoroughly confused. Do I need a script, is there a method through Acrobat menus I'm missing, or am I barking at the moon? Any help just getting me going in the right direction would be appreciated more than I could even say. Thanks!

Simply add a button and set it's Mouse Up action to "Submit a Form" and use a mailto type URL and specify that the complete PDF is sent. If it needs to work with Reader prior to version 11, it will additionally need to be Reader-enabled: File > Save As Other > Reader Extended PDF > Enable More Tools
Note that emailing is unreliable compared to submitting to a web server, and it's difficult to make secure, which is relatively easy with a web server.

  • Using ASP to email a completed Adobe form

I'm not a programmer and could use some help. I've ran Form Field Recognition on a .pdf file to create an editable form. I can post this on my website with the intention of having people fill in the blanks and submit it. That's where I get lost.
I'm with a host who supports .asp, but not much in CGI. They allow Perl, Python, PHP4, and PHP5 (whatever they are).
Is there a simple way to have the form saved and sent as either an attachment or as a copy of the form as completed on to an email address? Other than ssending it, I really don't even need it saved or entered into a database. All I need is the copy sent to be complete and look like the original form instead of a string of data. It is being sent to an office where there is little computer experience and even less creative understanding of what they may look at for processing.
With what little understanding I have, here's a flow chart.
Visitor opens .pdf form -> visitor enters all data -> visitor clicks on "submit" button -> form is saved as a .pdf file -> .pdf file is sent to a prearranged email address.
If someone can help by helping me understand this process and give me the line code I should include on my page to get the end .pdf file sent to [email address deleted by host], I'd appreciate it greatly.
    Thank you,
    Ken

    Here's an answer.
I did more research and trial and error and ended up finding that by going through the form process the first part was to "Run Form Field Recognition"
Next, I had to create and place a button on the page and turn it into a submit button (fairly easy).
Next, I went into the parameters for "Distribute The Form".
Once I loaded it on my website I found that completing the form and sending it went a blank form which the recipient was supposed to complete and sent back to me. So I tried an experiment. I figured the two form, the one on the web site and the one received were different somehow. I copied the received form to the website and used it in place of the original.
Now when it sends the form, I end up getting a completed form with the information in place.
There are still a few small details to work out, but it about done.

  • Email notification with PDF or completed form?

Is it possible for the email notification to carry a copy of the completed pdf form or excel s/s with the results.

To Adobe Mods: I second the request to have the completed form attached to an email notification as PDF. Cuts out having to log in and manually covert & download PDFs for each response individually. (Properly formatted copies of all responses required for my purposes.)

  • Why are completed forms that are emailed back to me blank.

When opening a completed form all the fields are blank.  When I ask the submitter they say that when they open the file all fields are completed.  My operating system is Mac OSX 10.9.4 and Acrobat Pro 9.5.5.  Any help much appreciated as this is driving me nuts.

You should probably make the form in AcroForms (that is directly in Acrobat with the forms tools). For submission, you should request the data to be submitted (FDF file) to a web script on an internal server. The script can be set to submit the data to a database or many other things (not that I have done them all). The script can be done in several different languages. If you download the FDF Toolkit, you can do a lot of the needed options. Check out Acrobat Forms Data Format (FDF) Toolkit | Adobe Developer Connection.

  • Form Services - Can business store completed forms internally, without these being uploaded to Adobe Servers?

    Hi,
I am looking to find out more information about the Adobe services available for creating and storing Electronic Forms.
Due to our company policies and procedures, we would like to try and store all information internally. Meaning Adobe will not be able to store any company information or data on their servers (Which I know is an option).
I have the below queries and questions...
    - Is it possible to create & store Adobe forms internally?
    - If this service cannot be run from internally, is it possible to use Adobe Server Services to store only template versions of the forms, but store completed Forms internally? (Removing the security risk of company and personnel’s data leaving the business)
I would be grateful for any useful advice or information anyone can provide on this.
    Many Thanks,
    James

  • Submit button on Android doesn't submit completed form via e-mail

We've created a form in Adobe Acrobat Pro with a submit button using the "mailto:" command.  When we are in the android app and click the button, the e-mail script works fine, but it doesn't send the actual file, just a blank e-mail.  Any advice?  I've seen some older posts saying java scripts aren't supported, but they were older posts.  Has this been addressed or is there a workaround to submit the completed forms via e-mail (with an added service or expense)?

    When you write this
    > but it doesn't send the actual file, just a blank e-mail
do you mean that it sends an email with a blank form attached?
If this is the case, this is currently as-designed, since your button has two actions: one that submits the form and one that resets the form.  Because emailing on an Android device is asynchronous, by the time the email is constructed by the mail app of choice, the reset form action has already executed and as a result, you end up sending a blank form.
I will look into the Android mail APIs to find out if we can make the behavior synchronous, that is, the reset form action will not execute until AFTER the submit form action has fully completed.  In the meantime, you can work around this by separating the submit & reset button into two separate buttons: one that submits, and one that resets.  Users will tap the submit button to submit and then have to tap the reset button after submit completes to reset the form.
    Hope this helps,
    Darrell

  • How do I save a completed form?

My job requires that I complete forms, applications, data sheets, etc. and return the completed form to the vendor.  Since an upgrade to Adobe Acrobat X Pro, I can't figure out how to SAVE THE COMPLETED FORM.  Once I fill everything in, I need to know how to save the information so it can't be changed.  How do I do this?  Thank you for any answers!

To save the form and prevent changes to the form fields you can either flatten the fields, apply standard password security, or digitally sign the document (certification or approval signature). Some of these may not be possible depending on how the forms are currently set up. It's hard to say which would be best without knowing more about the forms and how they will be used throughout the intended workflow.

  • Emailing a PDF Form

    Hi everyone,
I have created a form using Acrobat Pro XI. The form is viewed in Reader by end users which they can complete and save.
At the bottom of the form I have 3 buttons. Save Form, Print Form , Clear Form. They are all working fine.
I would now like to add an extra button called Send Form that enables end users to send their completed form to the appropriate recipients. If possible I would like the following steps to occur
    User clicks Send Form
Outlook (or other mail software) opens a new email
To: field is automatically populated with email addresses eg say Payroll and Finance
Subject: line is Populated with Staffing Action Form - [Action Requested] - [Employee Name]
Attachment Field; contains the attached completed Staffing Action Form
In the message body the text The attached Staffing Action Form has been completed and submitted for action.
    * The [Action Requested] is a drop down field within the form
    * The [Employee Name] is a text field in the form
Also is it possible to send the email to different recipients based on what has been selected through the [Action Requested] value via an If Else or Case statement?
Is there anyone with experience in sending PDF forms as email attachments that could assist me with the script for this please?
    Many thanks
    Michael

What you describe is possible by scripting.
You can read about the "mailDoc" method at:
    http://livedocs.adobe.com/acrobat_sdk/9.1/Acrobat9_1_HTMLHelp/JS_API_AcroJS.88.505.html
As a first step, have a look at this tutorial:
    http://acrobatusers.com/tutorials/dynamically-setting-submit-e-mail-address
You can download the example and adapt the script to your file.
You can also read this earlier thread:
